Perfectionism can feel like a badge of honor, but it often hides a deeper fear of being seen as not enough. You pour time and energy into every detail, hoping it'll protect you from judgment or failure, but all it really does is keep you stuck. There's always one more thing to fix, one more reason not to hit “go.” Eventually, progress slows to a crawl, and what started as high standards turns into quiet self-sabotage. It's exhausting chasing an idea of success that never lets you rest. Claus Raasted doesn't just talk about change—he's lived it. After leading the world's biggest LARP design studio, a major career reset pushed him to rebuild from the ground up. Now a consultant and educator, he helps people cut through perfectionism and self-sabotage to unlock what actually works. He emphasizes using your strengths, not fixing every flaw, and speaks honestly about the traps of overthinking and burnout. His message is clear: success isn't about doing everything—it's about doing you better. Stay tuned! Resources: Are you looking for an overpaid rockstar consultant to help you with GETTING SHIT DONE? Politics is usually stuffy and boring.  Not this year. The energy is absolutely electrifying! I am absolutely delighted with every speech. The roll call with a DJ and the playlist for every state? Perfection. Streaming the convention on YouTube and Tiktok equals no commentary to get in the way of the goodness. The Democrats inviting new media creators to cover the convention was absolutely brilliant because every day people are showing the convention from their perspective. A stroke of genius! Tonight is the last night of the DNC and I  am left with one feeling:  IT IS UP TO US. When we show up we can make big changes happen. It's up to us to get out the vote. It is up to us to show up with so many votes there is a clear mandate for progressive change.

This episode is part 3 in a 3-part series on perfectionism. Perfectionism makes even the smartest entrepreneurs get in their own way. That's why I'm releasing a three part series all about perfectionism - including the surprising truth that every business owner needs to know and the exact steps to follow to take control of your productivity. There are so many misconceptions about perfectionism that I didn't even know I was a perfectionist when I first started my business! I thought that motivation problems, imposter syndrome and fear of judgement were to blame for the fact that I struggled to consistently promote my business and couldn't get myself to consistent $10k months - even though I knew A LOT about how to build a successful business from all of the online learning I'd done. I slowly began piecing together that I was a perfectionist and that's why I kept overthinking, procrastinating and burning myself out. It was also the main reason that I struggled to be consistent with my content creation and held myself back due to fear of judgement. After thousands of hours spent studying productivity systems, learning how the mind works and understanding the secrets of success, I was able to put together the missing pieces I needed. And I was able to grow my business to $100k per year and then $100k months and beyond. I'm sharing everything you need to know about perfectionism and productivity in this 3-part podcast series so you can break free of your business plateau and celebrate your first six figure year - without burning yourself out! And it's all to celebrate the fact that my group coaching program for perfectionist entrepreneurs, called Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (aka PGSD) is officially open for enrollment. But only for this week only! The doors are closing at 11:59 New York Time on 18 June so be sure to tune into this series if you're tired of getting in your own way and ready to take control of your productivity and make the next 12 months your most productive ever. Find the full episode transcript and show notes at samlaurabrown.com/episode402. In This Episode You'll Learn: What you get inside PGSD and how it works Why group coaching is essential for perfectionist entrepreneurs What personal support looks like in PGSD and when to use it for best results How PGSD has helped all kinds of entrepreneurs get out of their own way The details for the bonus 10k challenge that starts on 1 July The investment for PGSD and how to sign up before the doors close   Featured In The Episode: Sign up for Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (PGSD) - samlaurabrown.com/pgsd Sign up for daily Perfectionist Power-Ups - samlaurabrown.com/power Follow me on Instagram @perfectionismproject   Announcement: PGSD is open for enrollment for one week only If you feel behind on your $100k goal, it's just because nobody's taught you the different productivity rules that apply to perfectionists. To make $100k you need to work smarter, not harder. And to do that you need to get your perfectionist mindset on your side.  If your week is filled with lost time even though you're always busy working, it's time to take control of your productivity. The process for getting out of your own way is simple - plan properly as a perfectionist, get into a growth mindset and release your perfectionism handbrake. And it's easy when you know how! My group coaching program Perfectionists Getting Shit Done (aka PGSD) is designed to get perfectionist entrepreneurs to $100k. Inside you'll get the coaching and productivity tools that address your perfectionism head on so you can create sustainable, long-term productivity - and build your business to $100k and beyond. The doors to PGSD are now officially open for one week only. Time and time again, we see game teams struggle with the feeling that they're not moving fast enough. Something isn't right with the game, but they don't have time to think about it because there's “so much work to do.” These kinds of issues arise when we're focused on building stuff, rather than creating compelling experiences that resonate with players. That's why, in today's episode of Building Better Games, we're focusing on value, not work!     We want to help you hone in on what true progress looks like and discover how you can create the best possible player experience using the smallest amount of stuff. Tuning in, you'll learn why you need to abandon the GSD or “get-shit-done” approach to game development and adopt a more minimalist approach instead.     Do you want to feel more empowered to make value-based decisions that align with what your game should be? Are you looking to avoid some of the most common progress pitfalls that game developers tend to fall into? This is the episode for you!     Topics discussed in this episode: - Defining ‘value' and ‘stuff' for the purposes of this conversation - Why value is greater than the sum of its stuff - Centering progress on player experience rather than work progress - Making something of value versus “getting shit done” - A look at why you need to create value and build stuff - Why figuring out what the game should be is key - Tips for building a production roadmap with value at its core - Why it's critical to communicate the player experience to your team - Assessing the importance of each and every piece of work - How to embrace uncertainty as a leader - Differentiating between play tests and product reviews - A minimalist approach to creating the best player experience - Common progress traps that game developers fall into - How the acronym IKIWISI can be useful here - Advice for keeping vision and strategy top of mind   If you'd like to work with Jeff, you can connect with him on LinkedIn or email him at jeff@supergroup.co.   Resources Mentioned: The Ladder of Inference Big Five Personality Test Structural Dynamics   For tips on how to staff your dev team, email us at info@valarinconsulting.com to set up a free 90-minute call!   For more episodes head to the Building Better Games Podlink.   Connect with us: TikTok Instagram LinkedIn YouTube

What if one could just be in their own presence – and not base their value on what's being produced or accomplished? My guest today is Matt Maruca, founder of the eyewear brand, Ra Optics, and just an overall energy beam of a person. We ponder this question, and so many more, in this deeply introspective and intellectually adventurous episode. We dissect decision making, the process of prioritizing who and what is important, and why; the ultimate work/life balance and the pitfalls of hustle culture; and bounce back and forth on an overarching theme of breaking through to the upper limit – The 21st Floor, for the purpose of this conversation – and how we might stay there. Matt's informed perspective and ability to question himself and the world around him, especially at such a young age (22!), is really impressive. I'm excited to present this, his second appearance on the podcast, as his relative youth has meant continued, rapid, and insanely thoughtful development in his worldview.
