Today's guest is Susan Feldman, founder of One Kings Lane & In The Groove. She's a born collector with retail blood and when it comes to collecting, she loves nothing more. After starting One Kings Lane in her early 50's, she got exposed to working with some of the best designers around who opened her eyes to the beauty of traveling and vintage sourcing. A host and an entertainer, she's collect a closet full of napkins, and dish sets, and boxes, and the list goes on. But these days, she's doing more curating of her collections and focusing on the things that matter. After selling One Kings Lane, she's started her next venture In The Groove targeted at inspiring women 50+ to own their age and style. As a collector, she's curating content for this demographic and there's no one better for the job. So without further adieu, this is Susan Feldman, for Collectors Gene Radio.Susan Feldman's Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/susankfeldman/?hl=enIn The Groove - https://getinthegroove.com/

Ahhh, vinyl records. For audiophiles and other assorted music nerds (know any of them!?!), it's the passport to sonic bliss. For others, it's an archaic, delicate, noisy and inconvenient medium. Whatever side of the fence you're on, there are albums that you gotta experience on vinyl - whether it be for the sound quality, the artwork, the liner notes, the overall presentation, or maybe it's not available digitally. Remarkably, decades after the format was declared all but dead and buried, it has experienced a huge resurgence in popularity. To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the commercial vinyl LP, In The Groove: The Vinyl Record and Turntable Revolution from Motorbooks is an authoritative and visual celebration of the history and culture of record collecting and turntables, from the first 78 to the explosive growth of vinyl in the last decade, with entertaining sidebars highlighting classic record stores, legendary labels and iconic artwork. Designed to satisfy readers from the most discerning of collectors to those new to the passion, In The Groove gathers five of the finest music scribes to contribute a chapter each. One of those writers (covering record stores) is our Third Lad this week, Gillian Gaar. Gillian G. Gaar is a Seattle-based author. Her first book, She's A Rebel: The History of Women in Rock & Roll was published in 1992. In addition to her own books, she has appeared in various anthologies, including The Nirvana Companion, Trouble Girls: The Rolling Stone Guide to Women in Rock, Nirvana: The Complete Illustrated History, Leonard Cohen on Leonard Cohen: Interviews and Encounters, Goldmine: The Beatles Digest (volumes one and two), The Best of the Beatles Book, The Stranger Guide To Seattle, 33 1/3 Greatest Hits Vol 2, A Survey of American Culture, and various editions of The Scribner Encyclopedia of American Lives, among others. She was editorial assistant for Krist Novoselic's book From Grunge To Government: Let's Fix This Broken Democracy! She was also a project consultant/liner note writer for Nirvana's box set "With The Lights Out." She has written for numerous magazines, including Rolling Stone, Mojo, Q, Goldmine, The Seattle Times, The Stranger, Option, and No Depression, and was a senior editor at Seattle music paper The Rocket. She has also written liner notes for collections by Laurie Anderson, Judy Collins, Heart, Pat Benatar, Paula Cole and Mat Kearney, among others. Learn more about your ad choices. Whether you're a beginner or intermediate drummer or maybe you've been playing for a long time, I hope this podcast gives you some things to think about when going down the rabbit hole of hand speed and drumming technique. I also give some thoughts on finger vs wrist technique and general hand technique for drums. Last week I went on vacation to Mexico with my beautiful wife, and while I was there, all I brought were sticks and a drum pad. I took advantage of the time away from a drum set to focus on my hands. I rediscovered, in my opinion, the fastest way to develop your single stroke roll. An enlightening conversation with two women who will make you less afraid of getting older: 63-year-old Susan Feldman and 53-year-old Wendy Euler. Both women unabashedly put themselves out there as the face of their brands—both of which aim to stop age shaming. Both women experience life to the hilt and are constantly taking on new, challenging experiences—undaunted by age. In this episode, we learn the how and why—plus some things they truly love about being in their 50s and 60s. Susan Feldman is the co-founder of One Kings Lane, which she sold a few years ago, the founder of her current passion: In The Groove. It is a platform for shining a light on age-defying women, while offering advice on how to stay current on everything from tech to fashion.   Wendy Euler is a self-described “age activist and style enthusiast” and the founder of the Goodbye Crop Top platform. Wendy keeps followers entertained on Instagram with her aspirational advice on creating your own person style, regardless of age or trends. She is also a host of the 5-minute podcast, Cropped: A Midlife Minute.

The best ideas are born out of necessity and Susan Feldman's career is an ode to that notion. As the co-founder and visionary behind One Kings Lane the online go-to destination that revolutionized the way we shop for home decor and disrupted an entire industry with it's inspirational, editorial look. Upgrading from a NYC city apartment to a west coast spacious home and for the first time having the opportunity to really design a large space Susan saw the need for a curated, collective offering the chicest pieces from everyone's favorite brands and created an experience that built both a business and recognition for the brands it carried, the latter unheard of in 2009. As a former executive at Ralph Lauren and Liz Clairbourne, Susan was no stranger to the world of wholesale / retail but the home category was a totally foreign concept, but Suan's creative flair and gift for identifying the white space paid off and One Kings lane sold it just 7 years after its launch to Bed, Bath and Beyond.  Susan was 53 when she launched One Kings Lane and now at 65 Susan is the founder of a life-style destination that celebrates women and frees them from the age limits and expectations set by society. Hearing how her fabulous, fun, chic and fashion forward friends were left feeling invisible by the media and the brands that served them, Susan set out with a mission to change that and In The Groove was born.   This episode just reinforces our mantra that goals are important at any age of your journey and that as women we only get more fierce and powerful as we evolve on our journey.

In #150, Michael Sikand sits down with Charles Huang, co-founder of Red Octane, the company behind the legendary Guitar Hero franchise. Starting the company alongside his brother Kai in the early 2000's, the gaming startup began by designing hardware for music and dancing games like “Dance Dance Revolution” and “In The Groove”. Soon however, the brothers realized a massive opportunity in delivering music games to an American audience (they were primarily popular in Asia) that were deeply rooted in culture. Despite having to re-mortgage their houses to make it work, the brothers launched Guitar Hero in November 2005. The game was an instant success and within a year of launching the game, Red Octane was acquired for $100M by Activision. Guitar Hero went on to be the second-ever game to reach $1B in sales, being the world's best-selling game in both 2007 and 2008. In this episode, Charles shares lessons, stories, and insights from an entrepreneurial journey building a product that rocked the world. He also explains why Guitar Hero faded away from its massive success and provides career advice to young entrepreneurs. This is a must listen! I Heard It Through The Grapevine).

Welcome to the Arcade Repair Tips Question Of The Week. This week, we answer a question from Dave who has an In The Groove 2 (similar to Dance Dance Revolution) arcade cabinet and is experiencing a large amount of static buildup on his replacement CRT TV screen. Enjoy!Question: I've been slowly restoring a dance machine (ITG 2) and it has a replacement 32" Samsung CRT TV as its monitor. It's been working great and the picture is fine; however, there is an unusual amounts of static building up on it; more than a normal CRT. It's to the point when I make contact with the glass bezel it shocks me for no more than 120v and it makes the screen flicker and interrupts the marquee speakers. I understand the build up ions and static charge and how when I touch it, it grounds and interrupts the electric field and can interrupt sound components. I was wondering if there is a way to minimize or remove the static charge and if I should be concerned. I've tested the outlets and they are grounded properly. I've watched most of not all the monitor videos (haven't performed any repairs myself yet) and I can't recall you guys ever addressing something like this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Dave

Это Dean Coleman и DCLA с треком I Want You. Ох уж эта вокальная партия в I Want You. Lemon 4 aka Dreamer.promodj.com/dreameriTunes: bit.ly/1GmefEt1.
