Pregnancy after miscarriage can be emotionally challenging. The MHD Pregnancy After Loss program includes mentorship, which can really help. In episode 131, Miscarriage Hope Desk founder, Allison Schaaf, shares the inspiration for the Pregnancy After Loss mentorship program. If you're having trouble finding someone in your personal circle, you're welcome to post in our Miscarriage Hope Desk Facebook group to find a match. This is a good one, ESPECIALLY if you are considering IVF, so if that's you, be sure to take a listen!
On today's episode, I discuss how similar experiences in recurrent pregnancy loss can differ greatly and my own perspective on why I still have my pregnancy tests and will likely never be able to get rid of them. On last week's episode, we discussed how the journey through infertility and recurrent miscarriages can affect our relationships, specifically surrounding intimacy. So for today's episode, I wanted to have a lighter, more fun conversation that will hopefully ignite some ideas to get you motivated to focus on your partner again and spark some passion! If you have any ideas that weren't mentioned here, be sure to share them with us on TikTok @JourneyWithConfidence!
With a background in data science and fintech, Cecilia wondered how to take established solutions in fintech and translate them to the under-served healthcare market. wawa is an intelligent fertility assistant app that helps patients navigate the fertility journey. Used by couples who are experiencing infertility, single mothers and same-sex couples undergoing assisted conception, wawa has found a really good product-market fit. They are focused on closing the reproductive data gap and most impressively, unlike any other healthtech company I've met, the wawa patient community has managed to get a reproductive law changed in Denmark. We touch on deep market research, building a meaningful community and wawa's ‘go-to-community' strategy. Currently active in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, wawa is expanding in Germany with their next stop the UK. We discuss the varying fertility laws across Europe and how this impacts the infertility market and the information asymmetry that exists between patients and providers. I also get to reminisce a bit about my time in the NHS when I was a gynaecological radiologist performing fertility investigations such as hysterosalpingograms. This is a deep dive into the world of infertility – I hope you enjoy our conversation.
Nothing can kill the spark more than tracking ovulation, scheduling intimacy, and endless doctor appointments month after month. Add in recurrent miscarriages and it's no wonder intimacy and connection with your partner can take a hit through this journey. In today's episode, I reflect on the ways this journey affected my own relationship and intimacy and discuss what my husband and I could have done differently to strengthen our bond instead of weaken it. My hope is that this episode can help you and your partner avoid similar hurdles as you navigate this crazy journey. Hugs, friend!
This episode is PACKED full of all my best tips for advocating RESPECTFULLY. I know it can be intimidating to speak up to your doctors, so I break down all the do's (and a big don't!) so you can feel confident advocating for yourself and your baby!
This week I have the pleasure of interviewing Kristin Dillensnyder- IVF coach and 3 time IVF warrior that experienced 3 different outcomes… one cycle that worked, one cycle that didn't and one cycle that ended in a miscarriage. As a certified life coach, Kristin became the person she needed during the hardest parts of infertility so other women who need IVF to grow their families will not be as consumed by their infertility as she was. In this episode, we talk about what it looks like to make the decision to move forward with IVF or to try again after an unsuccessful cycle and how to “fill you cup” after feeling depleted and consumed by your infertility journey. Kristin shares with us what she would go back and tell herself as she was going through IVF for the first time, and also shares so many practical tips and tools you can implement in your own life- right now- wherever you are in your journey. Kristin shared so much wisdom and hope, but I think my favorite thing she said was, “It's really important to believe that just because it hasn't happened doesn't mean it can't happen.” Thank you for being here, friend. I hope this episode sparks courage and ignites hope for you in the week ahead. Support the show

Listen in as Jasmine Katatikarn shares her almost 6-year long fertility journey with Michelle. Together they discuss how difficult and lonely infertility can be for so many, the importance of advocating for yourself, as well as finding someone to talk to or a way to process and release the feelings and emotions such as grief, loss, guilt, and shame that often accompany infertility. Jasmine also explains when she was at the lowest point in her fertility journey, she decided to apply the creative and strategic mindset that she uses in her career as an artist. From this mindset, she created The FREEdom Method Fertility Training which assists other women on their fertility journey by helping them to Find their core values, Reframe their challenge, Exploring creative solutions, and Execute their plan. "That's also like another part of the fertility journey. It's this roller coaster. It's this emotional roller coaster of like ups and downs where you get completely deflated after, you know, a failed cycle. Because you have your hopes up, and then, the big thing about fertility is, and that is why people often say fertility warriors, is cause we have to pump ourselves back up. It is like, not only are you alone in your journey, but like you go through these huge devastions. You can't wallow in it…because you have to keep up hope. And, it's hard."—Jasmine Katatikarn About Jasmine Katatikarn: Jasmine is a computer animation artist and certified life coach living in New York City. After nearly six years of trying to conceive, she was given the crippling news that she would have less than a 1% chance of having a biological child. At one of the lowest points in her life, Jasmine realized that she could begin to approach her fertility journey from the mindset she uses as an artist. A mindset that combines creative reframing, problem-solving, and action always to ensure forward movement. Now a mom to two miracle children, Jasmine now teaches this same artist's mindset to help others find control in their fertility journey. She is the founder of The FREEdom Method fertility training which helps women release the emotions, stress, and pure exhaustion of their fertility journey easily by approaching it with a mindset of an artist so they can live a life where no obstacle will ever get in their way of being “happy.” Jasmine has been featured on various fertility organizations like @wearerobyn, and @resolveorg during Infertility Awareness Week 2020. If you Friend have an auto-immune disease or maybe someone you, this episode is for you!Imagine being a survivor of two autoimmune diseases-fibromyalgia and lupus. Surprisingly, Ashley's autoimmune diseases are not the culprits for her infertile diagnosis; PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) is to blame, as well as male-factor.Ashley's TTC journey to motherhood began at a time when she had her life perfectly planned and executed. Finished grad school, married to the love of her life, and a place to call home. But that quickly changed after stopping birth control to try and conceive naturally. Within a matter of months, Ashley was diagnosed with PCOS. She had been on birth control for over 15 years; which she believes helped to mask the symptoms of the condition. After more tests, Ashley's doctor concluded that her body did not ovulate on its own and she would need reproductive assistance to become pregnant. After four medicated cycles with a fertility medication called Letrozole, Ashley and her husband finally had their BFP (big fat positive). But sadly the results of the second beta test concluded that Ashley was going to miscarry. After her miscarriage, a cyst was found on Ashley's ovary which forced her and hubby to take a month off from fertility treatment.Join us Friend as we Get Connected & Stay Plugged In to Heal Together!Follow Ashley on Instagram @rage_against_infertilityTEXT Monique @ 443-569-0642 with your feedback, comments, or questionsFollow IAM on Instagram!Subscribe and watch on the YouTube Channel here!Affiliate Links:Natalist:The Prenatal Multi contains doctor-recommended ingredients to prepare your body for pregnancy and promote the healthy development of your future baby.‡1 month supply: 60 vegan capsulesFormulated with MTHF folate Contains no yeast, wheat, gluten, soy protein, dairy, corn, sodium, sugar, starch, artificial coloring, preservatives, or flavoringPair with our Omega DHA for a complete routinePregnancy Tests! If you enjoy this podcast, please consider leaving a review on Apple iTunes so that we can continue to grow and spread the message of Connecting And Healing Together.Support the show (http://PayPal.me/infertilityandmepod)
Maiclaire became pregnant naturally really quickly, but miscarried at nearly 12 weeks. She and her husband then started fertility treatments with IUI. She got pregnant with the second Intrauterine insemination, but sadly miscarried at 9 weeks. Maiclaire completed 5 rounds of IVF. Her first 3 cycles did not produce any blastocysts, so she has never been able to do an embryo transfer. Recently, 3 of her blastocysts were sent for PGS testing. PGS testing: Pre-implantation genetic screening, also known as comprehensive chromosome screening or CCS, is a genetic test designed to examine embryos for chromosomal abnormalities. Embryos are biopsied at the blastocyst stage and all the chromosomes are examined. We also discuss egg donorship and epigenetics."After the 2 miscarriages and the 2nd IVF cycle with no embryos, I was in a really low place and I was frustrated that no one talks about infertility and recurrent loss so I wrote my book "prequel to parenthood: an infertility story". The book aims to raise awareness about infertility and miscarriage. I wrote it to help others going through this crazy infertility world, but also for those supporting them. One of the most important chapters I wrote is about things people say when they mean well, but it's not well. Several people supporting me during this journey told me that chapter was very powerful because it helped them understand what they should and shouldn't say."Join us friend on this weeks episode with Maiclaire Smith. Thinking of you warrior who's treatment has been postponed or canceled due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Please stay safe!!!In episode 23, Mark P. Trolice, MD, joins us to discuss his personal journey through Infertility. He is a leading medical expert on fertility and a physician who has counseled many hundreds of couples as they cope with and solve their infertility challenges. He is board-certified in both OB/GYN and REI (Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility). The clinic he directs, My Fertility Care (Center of Assisted Reproduction and Endocrinology), is in Winter Park, Florida, and he is Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Gainesville in Florida and the Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine in Orlando. Dr. Trolice’s first book, The Fertility Doctor’s Guide to Overcoming Infertility, was released in January, 2020. The book opens with an exploration of all the possible causes of infertility, covering both couples who have never been pregnant and ones who have had recurrent losses of pregnancies. Unique among infertility guides, this volume gives roughly equal weight to male and female causes, which is important because about 40% of infertility cases are due to men’s issues—and some couples need to address issues in both the prospective mother and prospective father. It covers endometriosis, fibroids, POS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), tubal factor, male factor, and other possible causes. Next it looks at your treatment options. Importantly, these are not just medical interventions, but they also include lifestyle changes you alone can make, involving sleep, diet, exercise, and other forms of self-care. Among medical options, IUI (Intrauterine Insemination), IVF (In Vitro Fertilization), and various surgical procedures are covered in detail. Dr. Trolice's website! In this fourth episode, we have Amy walking us through her diagnosis of endometriosis as a teen and her infertility journey to date. Amy began trying to conceive six months prior to her wedding in September of 2015. Two years go by with no success of conceiving and Amy decides to have laparoscopic surgery to remove stage four endometriosis. After her surgery, Amy's doctor put her in medically induced menopause for four months. This would allow her body to heal properly without menses. Once the four months were completed, Amy and her husband became pregnant naturally. At 20 weeks(5 months), it was revealed during the anatomy scan that Amy's baby boy had more than one heart condition and other abnormalities. Amy and hubby's baby was born stillborn at 21 weeks gestation. Amy and her husband tried to conceive naturally again for 8 months without success. God loves you even as you are going through infertility. This is not a curse or a rejection from God, rather it is an opportunity for God to shine His light in our weaknesses. I went through infertility for 7 years the way most of us do and it wasn't until I started to expect God to do what His Word says that I started finding true faith while ttc (trying to conceive). Your diagnosis doesn't matter, pcos, endo, cycsts, azoospermia, your reproductive age doesn't matter, your hormones don't matter. God is in charge of your cycle, your fertility, your eggs, ovaries, uterus, your husband's sperm... literally every single thing God is in control. You can expect the BFP (Big Fat Positive) not because you can but because GOD can! You can even find joy in the 2ww (two week wait), no more stress while you wait for those 2 lines! But this isn't about wishful thinking this is about finding what God says and applying it in our lives. My goal is to make that SUPER easy for you (most of us already know the hard way) let me show you what God says, He promises to be faithful (even when we are faithless)... Listen now to find out more! Know that I have been where you've been and God set me free and I know He wants to set you free too! Most ladies doubt this the first time they here (that there is actually hope in infertility) so if you're doubting, it's okay... take a step of faith anyway and listen now! • More Infertility Resources Here: http://ttctf.com
