Martha Chaves, Miguel Rivas and Jennifer Robertson take the news quiz with host Gavin Crawford from February 10, 2024.
Have you seen The Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down? The series is produced out of Grenville Island in Vancouver and among the executive producers is Seth Rogen. He is known more for pot than pottery but watch him get his hands dirty a few times on camera, making, of course, ash trays from behind a pottery wheel. Now, there is a lot to pottery. You've got to fire up your creations in a kiln and then add colours and glaze. The contestants on the show on the episodes I've seen are very talented.I sat down and recorded this interview with three key members of the series last December at the CBC broadcast centre in Toronto. Meet host Jennifer Robertson, along with judges Brendan Tang and Natalie Waddell. Catch up with the series by streaming it on CBC Gem, with new episodes airing Wednesdays on the main network. One note: the room where this was recorded up on the 10th floor at CBC was echo-y and only one mic was used so the sound levels are a little wonky. Producer Phil Wong put the audio through his tweak machine but apologies for the less-than-perfect sound.
Martha Chaves, Miguel Rivas, and Jennifer Robertson take the news quiz with host Gavin Crawford.
CBC and Netflix star Jennifer Robertson! This is VANCOLOUR host Mo Amir and Canadian actress Jennifer Robertson (CBC's Schitt's Creek, Netflix's Ginny & Georgia) discuss Seth Rogen's hand-sculpted bong, the Grouse Grind, parenting child actors, The Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down and a Schitt's Creek movie!
Actress Jennifer Robertson is beloved 'round the world for her astounding work as Jocelyn Schitt for all six seasons of CBC's iconic comedy series Schitt's Creek, and, more recently, for playing Ellen Baker, Georgia's regularly frazzled neighbour, on Netflix's Ginny and Georgia. Canadians will soon see the Vancouver actress in a new role: as host of The Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down. The eight-episode competition series – which premieres on CBC Television on February 8 – follows the trials and tribulations of 10 passionate potters, drawn from every background and every corner of the country. The series was filmed last summer on Granville Island in the space formerly occupied by Emily Carr School of Art and Design. Besides Jennifer, viewers will also get to see Seth Rogen, who is both the executive producer of The Great Canadian Pottery Thrown Down and as passionate about pottery as he is about pot. In our season opener, Jennifer discusses Schitt's Creek's Jocelyn and Ginny and Georgia's Ellen, her misadventures doing stand-up and also trying to decipher her pre-teen's texts, what she learned hosting The Great Canadian Pottery Throw Down, and Seth Rogen's commitment to living that #potterylife. (contains some spoilers)A group of investors-turned-sleuths try to unlock the suspicious death of cryptocurrency multimillionaire Gerry Cotten and the missing $250 million they believe he stole from them.Tells an utterly fascinating story that, quite unfortunately from a purely movie-viewing perspective, turns out in the end to be just another banal internet scheme run by a just another guy who wasn't quite good enough to make it in the real world of cryptocurrency. So what promises to be a solid if fantastic true crime heist film ultimately fails in the payoff at the end, which is just depressingly ordinary. Watch it for the amazing story complete with some neat twists and turns, but don't expect any big revelations at the end. Jennifer Robertson's husband started a cryptocurrency empire that made them unimaginably wealthy. When he died, she learned it was just a facade.
Infertility can be heart-breaking, anxiety-inducing and full of grief. Research has shown that people experiencing infertility have the same levels of anxiety and depression as those with cancer, heart disease and HIV. In this episode, Fertility coach Jennifer Robertson offers solace and guidance drawn from her own seven-year journey to motherhood. This one's for you if you're looking for support, inspiration and friendship as you navigate infertility yourself, or if you're working with people experiencing infertility, or since 1 in 6 people experience fertility challenges, if you'd like to play a supportive role for friends or family. We explore:Jennifer's seven-year journey to create her family; through the infertility rollercoaster, multiple rounds of IVF, miscarriage, a long and challenging surrogacy process, and finally, an unexpected, natural pregnancy. How each phase of the menstrual cycle presents different challenges on the journey through infertility, as well as different powers that can soothe and support us as we ride the rollercoaster. How to navigate baby-making sex, manage pre-menstrual rage at the unfairness of intertility, and support ourselves through the profound grief we may feel each month when we bleed. ---Registration is open for our 2022 Menstruality Leadership Programme. How do you cope with the "We're pregnant!" announcement when you and your partner are dealing with infertility? I'm assuming you or someone close to you is dealing with infertility. I also have a feeling that there are at least one or two pregnancy announcements in your Facebook feed currently (or maybe more these days). Finally, I can also assume that you or someone close to you has responded to one of these pregnancy announcements by saying something along the lines of “when can we expect a pregnancy announcement from you?” It's never easy to find out they are pregnant when you've struggled with infertility. It comes with mixed emotions and thoughts. Jennifer & I got together and share our stories and offer some tips on what I did while dealing with pregnancy announcements. Jennifer Robertson joins us today as we're digging into lessons learned from the fertility journey. If someone told me there were valuable life lessons I would learn from the fertility journey – when I was right in the middle of the struggle – I probably would have told them where to go. And it may be easy to share these lessons when we’re on the other side of the journey but we share them because maybe you can see some of yourself in our story. What I know for sure is this journey will force us to look at the hard stuff like impatience, our controlling nature, our need to plan it all out, the frustration when it doesn't go the way we imagined, and heartbreak month after month. Most women tell me one of the most painful parts of the TTC journey is the overwhelming feeling that we’re behind as everyone else moves forward with their lives. We can let this journey consume us or we can begin to reframe it so we can visualize a positive outcome. If you can see your patterns that are the first step towards changing the story (after all you are not the voice in your head). So how do we move forward on our own terms so that we can feel empowered and hopeful as we prepare for pregnancy success? Jennifer Robertson joins us today! Jennifer is a fertility coach and has helped women all over the world transform their mindset and take back control of their life in the midst of infertility. She is the author of The Injustice of Infertility, a true account of her own seven-year fertility journey. In this episode you'll learn: 1) The biggest lessons learned from the journey so that you don’t waste time doing the wrong things that don’t get you closer to pregnancy success. 2) Why this journey is so hard and all-consuming and how to realize you are NOT your fertility journey. 3) What do if you have a picture in your head of how you would conceive your baby and now it is completely different? 4) What happens when we don’t grieve and why confronting our fears and hard emotions allow us to take back control. 5) Steps to move forward so that we can approach this journey on our own terms. ---- Download a free chapter of - The Injustice Of Infertility - https://www.jenniferrobertson.co/pl/232854 ---- TIMESTAMPS: 05:01- INTRO TO TODAY'S EPISODE AND JENNIFER ROBERTSON’S BIO 05:55- JENNIFER’S FERTILITY STORY Miscarriages, IVF’s, journey in surrogacy 09:44- INTRO TO LESSONS LEARNED IN THE FERTILITY JOURNEY 10:45- THE GRIEF AND TRAUMA OF INFERTILITY Feeling like you need to “suck it up” and are a failure The reality and weight of the fertility journey “If you view it as trauma, it is.” 14:28- THE ROLE OF PERSONALITY AND BEING “TYPE-A” The belief that “working harder” only is what gives you results “You are not producing a baby, you are creating a baby.” “There is so much extra power in slowing down.” Letting go of control in uncertain circumstances. In this episode, I talk to Jennifer Robertson, a fertility coach and author based in Brisbane, about her own fertility journey that made her a mother in two very different ways, and about her brilliant new book, ‘The Injustice of Infertility'. Here's what is included in this episode: The three important reasons why Jen wrote her book, and the lessons she learned on her fertility journey that she wants every woman who is struggling to conceive to know. How she learned that being driven by “a need to succeed” doesn't work when it comes to fertility, and how Jennifer now uses this learning in her fertility coaching. Why it's so important to prioritise mental wellbeing and not just focus on the fertility treatment. The unique struggles and gifts of becoming a mother through surrogacy. Working through our issues during infertility helps us become such a better mom. In this episode I sit down with Jennifer Robertson as we talk about dealing with our shit. We tend to stuff down all the feelings and emotions that we go through during infertility. Rather than working through the emotion, we bury it and plow through to the next step. But it’s so important to slow down and admit that it’s okay that things are not perfect. It’s okay we are angry. It’s okay to admit that we have emotions and feelings along this journey, and there isn’t some picture that we have to look like. Jennifer shares with us the heartbreak and the joy that she has experienced and why she believes that the heartbreak when dealt with and recognized can lead us to greater things and really build us to be better moms. Topics Discussed:How consuming IVF can become. How to release the stress we put ourselves through to be free. How slowing down is sometimes enough to heal our bodies. How to deal with our shit. -- Quotes:“One day you wake up and can’t remember who you are any more.”“We don’t acknowledge our feelings.”“We feel like there isn’t enough time in the world.”“You don’t have to go through extreme diet changes to heal your body.” --Connect with us!Website: https://www.findingfertility.co/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pg/FindingFertilityInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/findingfertility/Baby and Me Journal: https://www.findingfertility.co/infertilityjournalAmazon Store: https://www.amazon.com/shop/influencer-77328ce4Email: me@mymindfulme.comSubscribe to us on:iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-infertile-diagnosis/id1467058429Spotify: Stitcher: https://www.findingfertility.co/infertilitypodcastYoutube: Google: https://play.google.com/music/listen#/ps/Iqqdhvzt4bwex3iziweaxz77ewu-- Connect with Jennifer Robertson:Website: https://www.yourfertilityhaven.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/425418404879458/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/msjenniferrobertson/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClikGpEjoBP-_OOIiktaZDA Connect with us!

In a company as large as AT&T, most customers will only ever interact with field operations technicians. That means that creating a strong experience in the field is vital for both employees and customers. Jennifer Robertson, AT&T's President of Field Operations, mixes technology with human decisions to create an efficient experience with a strong human touch. AT&T has thousands of technicians in the field every day. Robertson and her team recently introduced the CODE initiative to help field employees make good judgements about customer care. CODE is an acronym for Care about the customer, Own the experience, Deliver, Exceed expectations. Instead of detailing how to handle every situation, AT&T provides its employees with the framework to make their own decisions to best serve the customer. The four driving principles allow technicians to do what they think is best for each customer. CODE has become a rallying cry for employees, who appreciate being empowered to meet each customer's unique needs. Empowering employees and building human interactions is powerful, but the field experience still needs to be efficient. AT&T's daily field work is a feat of logistics. Customers want to know when technicians will arrive, and technicians need to maximize the number of customers they see every day while limiting drive time and gas consumption. Last year, AT&T launched its Dispatch Learning Engine, an AI-powered platform that considers real-time information like traffic, fuel, technician skills and customer history to identify the best routes and schedules for each technician each day. With all of the factors, Robertson says there are 2.3 trillion options for every 300 jobs to assign—no human could match the machine's ability to create the best routes for employees, customers, the company and the environment. The Dispatch Learning Engine has earned rave reviews from technicians and dispatchers, and customers have shared positive experiences of knowing who will service their issue and when they will arrive. AT&T has also reduced its miles traveled by more than 20% and saved 51 million pounds of CO2 emissions by creating more efficient routes. Field operations is a crucial part of customer experience. It's where the rubber meets the road. By properly training employees and giving them freedom to use their best judgment, AT&T has built a global team of empowered technicians. Combined with innovative uses for AI, the company streamlines its operations to be as efficient and sustainable as possible.
Eugenics #2 of 4. If you are stumbling on this episode because you are someone obsessed with Japanese culture, then you probably already know about the blood-type fad that leaves poor Type-Bs at the bottom of the dating pool. What you may not already know, however, is how Japan developed that particular discrimination premise -- after all, knowledge about "blood types" is not ancient. It's not even particularly old! Indeed, the "science" and superstition that shapes the blood-type fad today is rooted in the crossroads of Japanese "modernity": Western science, Japanese nationalism, and a heaving effort to get people to stop marrying their damn cousins. More than 100,000 cryptocurrency holders have learned a hard lesson in finality, after the 30-year-old CEO of a major Canadian exchange died, effectively freezing the company's assets. In an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia last week, Jennifer Robertson, widow of QuadrigaCX CEO Gerry Cotten, wrote that the company owes its customers $190 million, but can't access the funds to pay them back.

Jennifer Robertson's Bio My name is Jennifer Robertson I am 24 years old and I am an Angel Mom to 3 beautiful angels. I lost my twin boys, Kyrie and Karson, on February 19,2017 at 17 weeks due to an incompetent cervix. After my loss I started to work on building a brand that holds memories forever. I became pregnant again with what I thought was going to be my angel baby. I soon lost her, Joelle on April 29,2018 at 20 weeks due to my incompetent cervix even after getting a cervical cerclage. After this loss I went tunnel vision into my brand. Not to get my mind off of another loss but because I was faced with a possibility of having to have a hysterectomy. At 24 I could’ve lost the possibility to conceive ever! I realized, in that moment, how blessed I am to have dodged a bullet others take. My brand has allowed me to commit to meeting and uplifting woman who have walked the same path as me. We truly never realize the fight others have to fight until we are the ones fighting it. During this interview, Jenn recounts that at a young age she would listen to her father call into a radio station and do comedy bits for a morning show - according to her, he did a pretty bang-on impression of Queen Elizabeth! This was Jennifer Robertson’s “norm” growing up and probably one of the (many) reasons I think she’s absolutely hilarious, and without a doubt, a comedy queen. We really dove into the beginning of it all, from her time on The Sean Cullen Show, to her struggling with her role on the Republican dominated This 1/2 Hour News Hour, right up to her current role as Jocelyn Schitt on CBC’s Schitt’s Creek. This Firecracker really knows how to light up the screen. Enjoy!

In humans, gender–femininity, masculinity–is an array of performed behaviors, from dressing in certain clothes to walking and talking in certain ways. These behaviors are both socially and historically shaped, but are also contingent upon many situational influences, including individual choices. Female and male bodies alike can perform a variety of femininities and masculinities. What can human gender(ed) practices and performances tell us about how humanoid robots are gendered, and vice versa? Jennifer Robertson, Professor of Anthropology at the University of Michigan, explored and interrogated the gendering of humanoid robots manufactured today in Japan for use in the home and workplace. She showed that Japanese roboticists assign gender to their creations based on rigid assumptions about female and male sex and gender roles. Thus, humanoid robots can productively be understood as the vanguard of a “posthuman sexism,” and are being developed in a socio-political climate of reactionary conservatism.
