Send us a textIn an age where political discourse often feels charged and divisive, it is crucial to understand the implications of our leaders' actions. In the latest episode of the podcast "Clarity from Chaos," host David Campbell engages with Michael Letts, an experienced law enforcement leader, to discuss the alarming issues surrounding military orders and potential insurrection in America. Their conversation sheds light on the need for accountability and the defense of our democratic principles.Section 1: The State of Our NationDavid Campbell sets the stage by expressing his concern over the current trajectory of the United States. He notes that "darkness is falling on our country" and emphasizes the importance of understanding and participating in the political landscape. This urgency is underscored by the need for spiritual grounding, as Campbell advocates for the presence of the Church and the Bible in our lives during these turbulent times.Section 2: The Role of Military OrdersThe discussion shifts to a controversial plea made by a group of Congress members regarding military orders. Michael Letts explains that these lawmakers suggested military personnel should feel empowered to disregard unlawful orders, raising significant concerns about the chain of command. He argues that this could undermine the very fabric of military operations, stating, "If we took that position...we do not have law and order then." This assertion highlights the potential chaos that could arise if military personnel were to question legitimate orders based on individual interpretations of legality.Section 3: The Consequences of DisobedienceLetts elaborates on the dangers of this mindset, suggesting that it sets a precedent for insubordination that could have far-reaching effects. The implications are not merely hypothetical; Letts warns that such actions could pave the way for insurrection, comparing the situation to historical coups seen in third-world countries. He stresses that the military's respect for the chain of command is essential for maintaining order and ensuring the safety of American citizens.Section 4: Accountability in LeadershipBoth Campbell and Letts agree that accountability is crucial in holding leaders responsible for their actions. They express concern over the lack of repercussions for lawmakers who promote disobedience within the military. Campbell emphasizes that the integrity of governing bodies must be upheld, stating, "if the rest of the current Congressmen and women...should be standing up and running these guys out of their particular seats." The duo calls for a stronger response to ensure that the principles of democracy are protected. Conclusion: Key TakeawaysThe conversation between Campbell and Letts serves as a wake-up call for citizens to engage with and understand the political environment. The threats to national stability, as discussed, stem from the potential breakdown of military order and the lack of accountability among leaders. As Letts poignantly states, the sacrifices made by service members underscore the need for a united front in defending our freedoms. Six Democrat lawmakers urged members of the military to openly defy their commands from President Donald Trump and War Secretary Pete Hegseth last week. Their video sent shock waves through the political narrative as Trump called their actions “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH” on Truth Social. But this Democrat insurrection is not new, as they've spent the past year openly encouraging defiance of federal law, from sanctuary cities to calls for soldiers to ignore orders. Victor Davis Hanson breaks down this disturbing trend on the left on today's episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In a Few Words.” “ We have 600 jurisdictions in which blue cities and states say that the federal law no longer applies in their jurisdiction. That's sort of neo-Confederate nullification that's prompted the Civil War. And you know, when Jefferson Davis, when he ordered South Carolina troops to fire on Fort Sumter, all he was doing was saying that the federal government is at war with the state. That's what our mayors are doing in these blue jurisdictions.” (0:00) Introduction(0:11) Historical Context (3:10) Nullification by Local Authorities(7:40) The Left's Broader Agenda Daily Signal today. Democrat lawmakers — including Sen. Mark Kelly and Rep. Elissa Slotkin — have now released a shocking video urging members of the U.S. military to defy orders from President Donald J. Trump. Yes. You read that correctly. The same party that screamed about “insurrection” for four straight years is now openly encouraging the military to disobey the Commander-in-Chief — the literal definition of a military coup.▶Sign up to our Free Newsletter, so you never miss out: https://bio.site/professornez▶Support the Channel and Buy us a Coffee: https://buymeacoffee.com/professornez#democrats #trumpnews #trumpnewstoday

“When politicians call for rebellion, the nation stands on the edge.” ⚖️
Maurice Nadeau. America at a Crossroads presents:“Courts in the Crosshairs: What's Next for Justice in America”Mark Joseph Stern with Larry Mantle
It is late January 1677 in Virginia. Loyalists under the command of Governor Sir William Berkeley had suppressed Bacon’s Rebellion just after New Year. Now Berkeley was prosecuting the surviving leaders of the rebellion, and loyalist units were looting the estates of wealthy Baconistas to recover losses they had suffered during the war. Then a fleet from London materialized at the mouth of the James, carrying three royal commissioners and a thousand “red coats,” English regular infantry. Their mission, per Charles II, was to suppress the rebellion – which Berkeley and his supporters had already done – and to discover the root causes of the rebellion. They were not prepared to intervene in a peace they had not fought for, which peace Berkeley was determined to shape to the advantage of his faction. Berkeley’s first interest was in justice for himself and his allies, the loyalists who had defended the government of the Crown; the commissioners were focused on the fiscal priorities of the Crown, and were therefore intent on moving beyond the war – bygones – and getting Virginia back to the important work of growing tobacco. There would be consequences. Note: This episode was on the technical struggle bus, and first launched with a defective file. If you have trouble listening, try redownloading it. Dan is off this week. So we are pleased to bring you a feature from our new limited series American Unexceptionalism: Global Lessons on Fighting Religious Nationalism with Dr. Matthew Taylor and Rev. Susan Hayward. South Korea is a nation that is deeply entwined with the United States. From the Korean War (which never technically ended) to Korean pop culture to the deep ties between Korean and American evangelical communities, what happens in the US affects South Korea and vice versa. But most Americans weren't paying attention to the fact that Korean democracy was startlingly challenged less than a year ago when the president at the time (President Yoon) declared martial law and tried to have his political enemies arrested. That attempt at autocratic takeover was unsuccessful, because Koreans took to the streets to protest and even Yoon's own party helped overturn his martial law decision and then impeach him. What can we in the United States learn from Korean activists and religious communities about how to resist wannabe tyrants? We get help on this question from two of the foremost experts on the interchanges between Korean religion and American religion: Helen J. Kim and Ray Kim. Donald Trump just issued 77 pardons, including for six individuals who were unindicted co-conspirators in Trump's federal criminal indictment for his efforts to steal the 2020 presidential election. Trump has now pardoned Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, Sidney Powell, Jeffrey Clark, Kenneth Chesebro, Boris Epstein, Jenna Ellis, Mark Meadows and many others. This feels like a recruiting effort by Trump. Synopsis: The Trump administration's aggressive use of ICE agents and National Guardsmen has sparked outrage among lawmakers like Rep. Pramila Jayapal and veteran activists such as Janessa Goldbeck; they join forces to discuss what can be done now. This show is made possible by you! To become a sustaining member go to LauraFlanders.org/donateDescription: The U.S. military is sworn to serve the Constitution, but that's getting complicated under Donald Trump. The President has deployed National Guard troops to half a dozen U.S. cities against the wishes of local officials and ICE agents are roaming around communities acting under unclear rules. Now the President is threatening to invoke the Insurrection Act. What difference would that make? Laura's guests are U.S. House Representative Pramila Jayapal and Marine veteran Janessa Goldbeck, who say it's time to reject authoritarianism and uphold the Constitution. Congresswoman Jayapal is the Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement and represents Washington State's 7th Congressional District. She has been at the forefront of congressional oversight and opposition to the Trump administration's immigration policies. Captain Goldbeck is CEO of Vet Voice, a national nonprofit that mobilizes veterans and military families to shape American democracy and defend the values they swore to protect. What can Congress, veterans and the general public do to stop the militarization of our cities? Join us for this powerful conversation, plus a commentary on the other times that the U.S. government has turned its military inward.“What law enforcement should be doing — of any kind, whether it's ICE, National Guard, whoever — is trying to deescalate. What we clearly see this set of military actors doing is escalate, right? When you crack down brutally, when you shoot a rubber bullet at a faith leader in Chicago, or when you violently push someone down to the ground, who by the way happens to be the father of three U.S. Marines . . . Suddenly we're here to talk about the fourth novel in the Manticore Ascendant story arc: A Call to Insurrection. As before, this novel is co-written with Timothy Zahn and Thomas Pope and published by Baen in January 2022. We're back in the fight with Travis Long, his wife Lisa and on an adventure following a recent attack on the young Star Kingdom. What rests behind the recent attack is the speculation that the small and insignificant Star Empire might be sitting on something extremely valuable in the context of trade and commerce. With the potential for a significant increase in economic power, someone is trying to ensure that increase is theirs and not Manticore's. However, Queen Elizabeth I and her government aren't completely ignorant of what might be behind the attacks. If they're right, there is a real threat to the Kingdom looming, and therefore a real need for a stronger and more capable navy. Enter the well-timed diplomatic contact by the Andermani Empire, and quickly we find Travis, Lisa and our other friends on what could be a well-timed adventure. Or possibly a disaster. There's drama, tension, a bunch of mercenaries, and definitely some combat! As always, your hosts share their thoughts about the book, and in this case the story arc we know as “Manticore Ascendant”. We even refer back to things David Weber shared with us about what may lie ahead for this part of the Honorverse (could there be more?), and a few thoughts and hopes of our own as the overarching Honorverse adventure continues. Our ratings for A Call to Insurrection were a 4.5, 5 and 4.5 (out of 5), for an overall rating of 4.7 from your hosts. As always, thank you for taking this journey with us, listening, liking and commenting on the episodes, and sharing this podcast with other like-minded adventurers. We always love your feedback and thoughts. Like the three of us, every one of you is a part of the crew! Next time we're shifting back to the Star Kingdom arc and looking at the fourth book there: A New Clan. Nat Turner, leader of the deadliest slave rebellion in U.S. history, was captured on 30th October, 1831. For over two months, he'd hidden out in the woods of Virginia, having led a violent uprising that terrified white Southerners and electrified the enslaved population. When finally caught, by farmer Benjamin Phipps, Turner was armed only with a sword and a few branches. Born into slavery in 1800, Turner was marked from birth - literally - with mysterious symbols on his chest that his family interpreted as a sign from God. A prodigious reader and deeply religious, he became known as a preacher, believing he was divinely chosen to free his people. In the early hours of August 22, he and his accomplices started their killing spree by murdering Turner's master, Joseph Travis, and his family. They then moved swiftly across Southampton County, recruiting others and attacking slaveholders. Their plan was to reach the county seat of Jerusalem, seize weapons, and spark a full-scale revolution. By the rebellion's end, about 60 white people were dead, but so were over 120 Black people, many of them innocent victims of revenge killings by militias and vigilantes. In this episode, Arion, Rebecca and Olly uncover the manhunt for Turner and the brief trial before he was hanged; reveal how white lawmakers responded to events with ever-harsher laws prohibiting the movements of enslaved people; and consider Turner's complex legacy… CONTENT WARNING: descriptions of extreme violence, racist violence, racism, mutilation. Last episode ended with Sir William Berkeley, on the deck of a ship in the James, watching Jamestown burn to the ground in the wee hours of September 19, 1676. The rebels under Nathaniel Bacon were ascendant, and Berkeley resolved to return to his refuge on the Eastern Shore and plot the next phase of his increasingly desperate war. Little did he know that the tide of the war was about to turn again in his favor. This episode begins in London in the summer of 1676, where Crown officials were just beginning to figure out what to do about the turmoil in Virginia, over which they had incomplete and very emotional news. Charles II made some decisions with long-term consequences for Virginia. At about the same time, in a stroke of luck - good or bad, depending on one's point of view - Bacon died rather horribly. He had done a good job building an organization with an orderly succession plan, but the rebellion had lost its most charismatic leader. A few weeks before Bacon died, at the end of September, the first of several armed merchant ships arrived in the Chesapeake, and after learning about the revolt their captains pledged their service to Berkeley. They would provide crucial support in an amphibious war against rebels along the James and York rivers. One of the captains, Thomas Grantham of the powerful 500-ton Concord, emerged as a courageous and wise diplomat, and would do more than anyone to end the rebellion in early January, 1677. At the end of the war, Berkeley mopped up, and prosecuted and executed most of the leaders of the rebellion. Richard Lawrence, however, disappeared, and was never seen again. The episode ends with the arrival of royal commissioners and a thousand English regular infantry at the end of January, which would be more bad news for Sir William Berkeley. Last week Trump discovered whatever's beneath rock bottom and burrowed to another level altogether, where the truly disgusting CHUDS live and dwell. He now sees fit to spin a bullshit narrative around January 6th that celebrates the riots and justifies the rioters as aggrieved patriots.
