We talked more about the Jets looking like they will agree to a deal with Aaron Glenn to become their next head coach. Gio doesn't like it because it's another coordinator with zero head coaching experience. We talked about Glenn's gameplan this past weekend against Jayden Daniels. It's looking like we're getting two fair weather games this weekend. C-Lo returns for an update, but first we talked about the Championship game in KC where Walker Hayes' ‘Fancy Like' was blasting through the stadium as the NFL Today was trying to broadcast. Aaron Glenn was on a podcast a few years ago and talked about relating to players. We wondered if Glenn would keep Aaron Rodgers at QB. Lance Newmark could be coming as GM as they worked together in Detroit before Lance went to Washington. We wondered who some famous people named Lance were. We heard the sounds of Ohio State beating Notre Dame in the National Championship. Kirk Herbstreit was emotional after the game. The Knicks beat the Hawks at MSG. In the final segment of the hour, our own Peter Schwartz has been hired as the GM of an arena football team playing at the Nassau Coliseum. The idea is to recruit local players. Hour 1 We don't normally get breaking news this early, but Ian Rapoport is saying that Aaron Glenn is meeting with the Jets today and they will not let him out of the building without a contract. Gio wanted somebody with head coaching experience. Boomer thinks Glenn will be a great head coach, but the Jets are in a whole different situation. How much of the Lions success is on Glenn? There's Dan Campbell, the offensive genius of Ben Johnson, and great drafts by the GM. Ben Johnson is going to the Bears, who are in the Lions division of course. Who will be a part of Glenn's coaching staff? Gio is not excited with the choice as he doesn't want another first time head coach here. Gio thinks if he was never on the Jets, he wouldn't even be considered. Boomer said maybe somebody with experience doesn't want to come to the Jets. Chris Spielman could be a GM candidate, and he has zero experience in that role as well. C-Lo is in for Jerry and here for his first update of the day and starts with Aaron Glenn on a podcast talking about an interaction with Bill Parcells. We heard the sounds of Ohio State beating Notre Dame for the National Championship. The Knicks beat the Hawks at MSG. In the final segment of the hour, Ben Johnson is going to the Bears and it looks like Aaron Glenn is coming to the Jets. Gio thought Johnson was going to the Raiders, but he really wants to work with Caleb Williams. Hour 2 We talked more about the Jets looking like they will agree to a deal with Aaron Glenn to become their next head coach. Peter will pick the coach. The coach will pick the players. Is this a full time job? Does he have an office? Hour 3 The Jets are expected to hire Aaron Glenn today, according to Ian Rapoport. Peter Schwartz has been named the GM of the Long Island arena league that is starting soon. The team doesn't have a name yet. We tried to come up with names for the Long Island team. We also talked about Italian Lizards on Long Island and how they got there. C-Lo returns for an update, but first we talked more about Peter Schwartz being the GM of the Long Island team in some new arena football league. The Jets are most likely signing Aaron Glenn after interviewing him today. Players are said to be excited at the prospect of Glann as head coach. Chris Simms, like Boomer, didn't like the throw from Lamar Jackson to Mark Andrews. Bill Belichick said the Ravens beat themselves. ‘You can't win til you can keep from losing' is what Tom Brady said (an old Belichick saying). In the final segment of the hour, Peter Schwartz joins us on the phone to talk about being the GM of the Long Island team of the new arena league. Hour 4 The Jets are interviewing Aaron Glenn and Lance Newmark and will most likely hire them as head coach and GM. Gio doesn't like the idea of these guys as they have not held these positions before. And for the Jets, that matters. The Jets need an alpha male like Rex Ryan or J ...

How can hospitality and kindness be a conduit for life-transforming change? What can happen when we open our hearts and homes to those in need of hope? Craig Cooper was a church planting pastor when his path crossed with a struggling Nashville musician named Walker Hayes. Walker was a self-proclaimed atheist and an alcoholic who lost a record deal and was struggling to make ends meet. Craig and his whole family welcomed Walker and his family into their lives. Loving them well, showing up when they needed a friend, and helping them as needs came up in life. It was through their friendship that God began to soften Walker's heart towards the gospel. He would eventually quit drinking and said yes to Jesus, forever changing his life. After his life changed internally, he also experienced an outward shift as he got a record deal and a hit country song called "Fancy Like." Craig and Walker chronicled their unique and pivotal friendship in their book called Glad You're Here: Two Unlikely Friends Breaking Bread and Fences. In this episode, Davey and Craig discuss the importance of walking with people through the highs and lows, how Scripture can help us in the valley, and why grace through friendship is so significant in a generation facing an epidemic of loneliness. If you've ever wondered how you can be a conduit of God's grace to those right next door, this conversation will encourage you to step outside your comfort zone and open your home and heart to those in your life who need it most.   Website: https://www.craigallencooper.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/craigallencooper/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/craigallencooper Book: Glad You're Here: Two Unlikely Friends Breaking Bread and Fences https://a.co/d/hMjcYl9 Overflowing Mercies: 100 Meditations on the Tender Heart of God https://a.co/d/1AbIu30 Church and Ministry Leaders: Join us for The Healing Leader Roundtable on March 6, 2025 in Indianapolis. Maisie Ganzler Dishes on When and How Corporate Animal Welfare Policies Work

Business for Good Podcast

Maisie Ganzler has never worked at an animal welfare charity nor an alt-protein company. Yet she's in the upper echelon of effectiveness when it comes to reducing the suffering of farmed animals. That's because she's served as an executive of a national food management company supplying 1,000 schools and corporate dining facilities, Bon Appetit Management Company, for decades. In her career, Maisie pioneered some of the first-ever corporate policies to require suppliers to stop using battery cages for laying hens and gestation crates for breeding pigs, meat reduction policies, and a whole host of other important animal welfare and sustainability initiatives.  When Bon Appetit would implement a policy like those mentioned, it was often seen as leading edge at the time, yet eventually would become the norm among food service companies. For example, Bon Appetit's 2005 cage-free egg policy would come to be adopted by McDonald's a decade later. Maisie even ran for McDonald's board of directors, backed by billionaire Carl Icahn, a campaign she writes that the fast food company spent $16 million to defeat. While she didn't make it onto McDonald's board, Maisie does sit on the board of directors of an alt-protein company called Air Protein, whose CEO Lisa Dyson has been a guest on this show before! So it was with great pleasure that I learned that Maisie has come out with her first book, which is part autobiography and part guide for others on how to create meaningful change in our food and agricultural system. The book, which just recently came out, is called You Can't Market Manure at Lunchtime: And Other Lessons from the Food Industry for Creating a More Sustainable Company. I read it and found it both informational, inspirational, and entertaining. What more could you want?  Well, maybe you'd want to hear Maisie's story straight from her rather than from me, so enjoy this conversation with a true pioneer for animals, farm workers, and everyone who wants to build a better food system. Discussed in this episode Josh Balk worked with Maisie on many animal welfare policies, and now runs The Accountability Board. David Benzaquen was a student who in 2005 helped catalyze Bon Appetit's cage-free policy, and who now is an executive in the plant-based food industry.  Maisie discusses the difficulties implementing the Better Chicken Commitment, leading Compassion in World Farming to extend its deadline for compliance. You may have heard of Monument Records recording artist Walker Hayes from his hit “Fancy Like” which topped every country music sales and streaming chart, spent more than six months at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart and also gave Walker his first GRAMMY Award nomination as an artist for Best Country Song. Another thing you may or may not know, is that Walker had his own struggles with Alcohol and through his success is now sharing this journey on his most recent project, Sober Thoughts. Walker finds himself where he so often does – letting fans into his world in a way only he can do. Hayes has always written about his personal experiences from a place of deep authenticity and, sometimes brutal, truth – sharing his fears, insecurities, and demons with the world. We watch him do this on “AA” where he was struggling to stay sober after a whirlwind year, or on “Beer in the Fridge” when he sings “guess I've got to live without you now, cause I couldn't live without that beer in the fridge” during a particularly difficult time where he and his wife Laney were struggling with his addiction. But really, what Walker does with his music, is make people feel seen. This has never been truer than on new single “Same Drunk,” where he sings that everyone is dealing with something and were all in it together. Walker has performed his music, including the Double-Platinum RIAA certified hit “You Broke Up With Me,” to national audiences on Good Morning America, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and TODAY, and he was profiled for CBS Sunday Morning. He just announced his next headlining tour, The Same Drunk Tour, which follows his last arena tours The Duck Buck Tour and the Glad You're Here Tour. The Glad You're Here Tour is the same title as the book Hayes released in 2022 with his best friend, Craig Allen Cooper, detailing his journey to finding Christ.    IG - @walkerhayes https://www.walkerhayes.com/   Tired of Drinking? Hour 1 The Jets and Giants games both have intrigue this week. What will Zach Wilson look like after being named the starter again? What will Tommy DeVito look like and will the Giants win some games here at the end of the season to finish strong? We also talked about some of the playoff teams. Can the Buffalo Bills get hot, win a statement game this week against the Chiefs, and go on a run? The Jaguars could be in trouble if they lose the next few games without Trevor Lawrence. Boomer asked Gio about the Rams. Gio said in the NFC it's either Niners, Eagles or Cowboys. Boomer & Gio went to dinner last night and Gio housed some prime rib. They ate out in the structure in the street. Actress Courtney Cox was in there as well. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with Bailey Zappe throwing 3 TDs last night. Sean McDermott apologized for comments from 2019 where he referenced 9/11 trying to motivate his team. Jon Rahm is joining LIV golf. Jerry played his comments from a few years back where he had no interest in playing for LIV golf. Boomer will still not watch LIV golf. In the final segment of the hour, Mike Tomlin is going to be under fire from the Steelers' fans if they have a losing season or don't make the playoffs. The Steelers are having the same problem as Zach Wilson and the Jets. They have quarterbacks that don't have a feel for the game.  Hour 2 There was a woman on CNBC, Meredith Whitney, who claimed that, because of sports betting, young men don't want to date or have sex now. We took calls from guys who are wondering why their wives don't want to have sex with them instead. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Shannon Sharpe and Ochocinco talking about sex on the first date. Chris Russo did ‘Good/Not Great' with the Knicks. Stephen A. Smith talked about the physical characteristics he likes in a woman. He does not want women with the same size chest as him. Jon Rahm is headed to LIV even though last year he said he would never go there. Boomer & Gio want Fat Perez to play at the Masters. In the final segment of the hour, we are one week away from Boomer & Gio Live at the Paramount. Tomorrow a bunch of guys at WFAN are going to the Islanders game in the owner's box. Sal Licata leached on to the Islanders after Gio introduced him to the owner.  Hour 3 Bill Belichick will be the guest picker on College Gameday as they will be in Foxboro for Army/Navy. Boomer said they always have great uniforms for those games. We also talked about going to Vegas for the Super Bowl and how Gio plans on golfing every day. Boomer wants to know if he needs to get us tickets for the Sphere. Gio wonders if the Patriots play well the rest of the way, could Belichick stay. Boomer can't wait for the Jets/Patriots game, the last game of the season. Gio can't imagine Belichick going out on a loss to the Jets. Boomer hopes Caleb Williams doesn't say no to the Bears if they draft him. They are a legacy team in the NFL. Jerry is here for another update and has audio from Ian Eagle and last night's Patriots win over the Steelers. Jerry went around the NBA last night. In the final segment of the hour, Eddie has been talking to someone in promotions who's sitting in watching the show today. He is imparting his radio wisdom here. We played an old Imus clip with Mike and the Mad Dog.  Hour 4 Shohei Ohtani's decision is imminent, possibly as early as today. Gio said there's not even any buzz about it right now because Ohtani wants to keep it quiet and MLB is letting him. The Mets seemingly made no offer at all to Ohtani. Sal Licata comes into the studio as Gio feels like he pulled a leech spot on him and used his friendship with the Islanders owner to get tix for WFAN employees. Jerry returns for an update but first we played some Walker Hayes songs, including a Christmas version of ‘Fancy Like'. Moment of The Day involves Fat Perez playing at The Masters. In the final segment of the show, it's our NFL picks with Boomer, Gio, Jerr and Yussef.

Folks, we may have jumped the shark with this one. Can we even be considered a music podcast anymore with the amount of restaurant talk in this episode? Probably not, but I don't think you can blame us considering today's subject: "Fancy Like" by Walker Hayes, or, as it's known throughout most of the world, "That Stupid Applebee's Song." Blaine Duncan returns and does not disappoint with his pointed barbs aimed straight at this song's idiotic lyrics, Josh finds a way to make both a racial critique AND a capitalist critique (what else is new), and Hayden ends up with a hankerin' for some tasty apps from one of America's most beloved restaurant chains. The 2017 album came six years after his full-length debut, Reason to Rhyme, announcing a promising talent in a bro-country vein, but boom. was fresh and fused modern R&B, contemporary country, hip-hop, and rock, announcing a distinctive talent. Hayes consolidated this breakthrough with the clever "Fancy Like," which reached number one on Billboard's Country charts in 2021, a hit that was the cornerstone of his third record, Country Stuff the Album.Hayes is a native of Mobile, Alabama. Born on December 27, 1979, he grew up in Mobile, dividing his time between music and sports as a child and teenager. He wound up earning a music degree from Alabama's Birmingham-Southern College, then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He and his wife moved to Nashville in 2005 with dreams of him becoming a professional musician. He signed a song publishing deal, and then, on the strength of a demo he recorded for Keith Urban, Hayes inked a deal with Mercury before quickly moving to Capitol Records. He released his debut single, "Pants," in 2010, which wound up reaching 60 on the Hot Country Songs chart. The full-length Reason to Rhyme followed in 2011, but it didn't chart. Over the next few years, Hayes worked as a songwriter, landing placements with Colt Ford and Rodney Atkins in 2014. Capitol dropped him, so he worked at Costco and continued to write, releasing the single "Pimpin' Joy" to little attention in 2014. Shane McAnally signed him to SMACK/RareSpark in 2016, leading him to release two EPs -- 8Tracks, Vol. 1: Good Shit and 8Tracks, Vol. 2: Break the Internet -- that year. Hayes landed a contract with Monument in 2017, which released "You Broke Up with Me" that year. www.GaryScottThomas.com
