In this thrilling episode, Frank and Shirley dive into the unexpected twists and turns of Survivor season 47, episode four, titled “Is That Blood in Your Hair?”. The duo unpacks the blindsides, chaotic alliances, and game-changing moves that left Keshawn packing. As Rome flexes his power in the game, alliances shift, and emotions run high, leading to an intense tribal council. They break down the strategy behind the blindsides and discuss the future of key players like Soul and Genevieve. Timestamps and Topics: 00:00: Introduction to Survivor season 47, episode four 00:18: Keshawn's unexpected exit – blindsided and betrayed 01:04: Genevieve's rise to power – her pivotal move 01:19: Rome's dominance – how long can it last? 02:03: Tribe dynamics and the looming betrayal 04:45: The breadwinner alliance – will they stay strong? 09:04: Sue's big idol find and red paint disaster 11:02: Rome's threats and bullying tactics – a step too far? 17:29: Challenge breakdown – red tribe's epic failure 22:45: Journey twist – who took the risk, and what's at stake? 29:33: Rome vs. Soul – the power struggle intensifies 32:53: Tribal council chaos – who got blindsided and why? Key Takeaways: Genevieve's power move has placed her at the center of the game, but will it last? Rome's controlling behavior may soon backfire as he alienates his tribe members. Soul is in a vulnerable position but might find hope if new alliances form. Keshawn's blindside proves that no one is safe, even if their name isn't on the chopping block. The breadwinner alliance could be a dominant force moving forward if they can hold it together. Memorable Quotes: “That damn Genevieve. Now I want her to go.” – Shirley “Rome's been making every right move, but he's also so incredibly annoying!” – Frank “Sue wears her age like the rest of us – no way she's pulling off 45!” – Shirley Call to Action:Enjoying the Survivor breakdown? Many may look at Germaine Roebuck Jr. (Buck) as a professional basketball player and think "oh, he's always been good at ball..." Well let me tell you (or better yet, why don't you let Buck tell you), that this most certainly was NOT the case. Buck rarely saw the floor in high school, but he kept working. He believed in himself and in his own abilities. He found his way to a college program and continued to work. Something many athletes in today's world don't want to do. When they don't see the results immediately, they end up giving up, rather than betting on themselves and trusting the process. Buck KEPT WORKING!! He found himself improving in every place he played. Not every place was a perfect scenario for him, but he kept working. After college he ended up getting an opportunity to play at the professional level overseas. He continued to work (noticing a theme here?) Today you'll get to hear of his story and the lessons he's learned along the way. We'll also learn about his playing time in the BAL (Basketball Africa League) and how the talent level was over there. At the time of this recording, Buck is recovering from an Achilles Injury that he sustained in the off-season. He's currently putting in work to recover and get back on the court fully healthy to continue his career and his passion! Tap in today and learn all about it. And make sure to give Buck a follow on social media so you can watch the rest of his journey along the way! Also, major shoutout to my friend Keshawn Liggins for the assist with this interview. He's the one who connected us both. Shane tells Bo what he learned from former coach Rick Stansbury and how practices are probably going for the team right now. When he isn't working on galaxy mergers, KeShawn loves to write (mostly prose, sometimes music) and sing.Find KeShawn on Twitter @keshawnrantsReach out to KeShawn at keshawn.ivory@vanderbilt.eduReach out to AstronomerAnd: Twitter: @astronomerand Instagram: @astronomerandpodEmail: astronomerand@gmail.comShow Notes:One of KeShawn's Medium pieces: https://kekeivory.medium.com/post-grad-mythos-and-inevitable-disenchantment-e8330e99d5e2Rice Acapella Group: https://open.spotify.com/artist/6SWt8NggN8nn2Y2uUYoCQA?si=5rqxMKUBSga_FDSb0VTTnw&utm_source=copy-link Website for other organizations discussed: Vanderbilt Bridge Program: https://www.fisk-vanderbilt-bridge.orgVanderbilt Astronomy: https://as.vanderbilt.edu/physics-astronomy/ Fisk Astronomy: https://www.fisk.edu/academics/nsm/academic-department-of-life-and-physical-sciences/physics/ The Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS): https://www.sdss.orgPython Module -- emcee: https://emcee.readthedocs.io/en/stable/Cover Art: iritmogilevsky.com, Instagram: irit.mog Theme Tune: Omar Chakor - https://www.fiverr.com/ch6k0rLand Acknowledgement: This episode was recorded in Nashville and we recognize that this land belonged to the Indigenous People before it came to be known as the state of Tennessee, or as the United States of America. We recognize that that Indigenous Peoples were the first residents of what we now know as the State of Tennessee and that Nashville is built upon the homelands and villages of the Indigenous Peoples of this region including the Shawnee, Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Yuchi tribal nations. Our ability to live and work in this state is the result of direct coercion, forced dispossession, and deliberate colonization. To ignore that is to perpetuate injustice to populations of people that continue to seek redistribution of land that was once theirs. We provide this land acknowledgement in recognition and respect of the indigenous people to whom this land truly belongs. We recognize that acknowledgment by itself is a small gesture, and that it becomes meaningful when coupled with authentic relationship and informed action. Inclusivity Statement: I wish for this podcast to be a safe space for those of every gender expression, sexual orientation, ability, race, religious group and age group. I am always trying to learn and improve on my unconscious bias. Any suggestions for improvement will be gratefully received at astronomerand@gmail.com.

The Boys and Girls Club Family Center in the Mason Square and Bay Street neighborhoods of Springfield have long been a hive of activity. After school programs, sports teams, weekend trips, pre-school and teen events, you name it. But when COVID-19 hit, like so many other community centers, they had to shut their doors. Keshawn Dodds soon reemerged as a key resource for parents and families as the pandemic wore on. Now they’re looking forward to summer camps and resuming normal operations. Eric spoke with Keshawn about the Boys and Girls Clubs, COVID-19, and how he’s talking with young people about the Derek Chauvin trial and the fights for social justice and civil rights. We also caught up about his best-selling book series for young adults. This is that conversation.

I said BURR...it's cold in here, there must be a SCARF in the atmosphere! Hoot Hoot! Grab your scarf (and ears), and tune in to hear this brilliant OWL share OWL her knowledge and hear how she gives a hoot about making everyone she speak with feel safe, seen, and loved. When I first sat down with this OWL-standing (Wo)man I was incredibly nervous. She's so beautiful and smart and well-educated and OMG I was a bit intimidated...Spoiler alert, she not only made me feel safe, she also made me see what I couldn't see because I wasn't aware of my unconscious bias and blind spots. Her catch phrase, "No Judgements" is why this OWL-standing hooter gives such a BIG hoot about creating ONE shared humanity for OWL the hooters out there and the men whoo need us to love them. Tune in to hear KeShawn drop knowledge and head over to the bonus episode and give a hoot about what happens behind the scenes when two OWLs laugh, learn and empower each other before the "real" show begins.

Welcome back to a Saturday drop of Dynasty Mode. It's a little late but the information is intended to be evergreen. We kick the pod off with a talk of where we'd love to see some players get traded this week before the trade deadline. We find new homes for some pretty primo players and set them up in positions to thrive! Their GMs probably won't but this is a fun exercise. After seeing most of these guys in about six games there's a large enough sample size to go back and do the first 20 picks of the 2020 dynasty fantasy football draft over again. We discuss who should be the top pick overall in hindsight. Are the true elite top 3 RBs still there? Where would we draft James Robinson and Antonio Gibson with 20/20 hindsight? Henry Ruggs III and Jerry Jeudy went before CeeDee Lamb in the real draft, does that happen ever again in any format? Who has surpassed them as well. We have a couple of undrafted rookies that make our top 20. We also discuss the difference between players who have draft capital invested in them and UDFAs and what that means for their long term success in the league. We also discuss players Jalen Reagor, Michael Pittman, and Tua Tagovailoa and how their lack of playing time affects their inclusion in this draft. We have some lengthier discussions about players like Jerry Jeudy, Cam Akers and KeShawn Vaughn and their long term outlook after being disappointing in the first six games of their careers. A great listen for the weekend as you start trying to target youngsters before your fantasy trade deadline.
