Artist Kubra Khademi was so enraged by the constant sexual harassment faced by women in Afghanistan that she created a bespoke suit of armour, forged out of metal with exaggerated breasts and buttocks. The idea came from an experience she had many years earlier, as a little girl, walking along a street and encountering a male stranger who would sexually assault her - at the time she wished she was wearing "iron underwear" to protect her. In March 2015 Kubra wore her custom-made armour and decided to walk down Kabul's busiest street. The reaction to her performance was life-changing - she received death threats and was forced to flee her home.Kubra's now living in France where she's a successful artist, recognised for her work celebrating the female body.Presenter: Jo Fidgen Producer: Maryam MarufLives Less Ordinary is a podcast from the BBC World Service that brings you the most incredible true stories from around the world. Each episode a guest shares their most dramatic, moving, personal story. Wiladat 12th Imam Mahdi (ATFS)Friday, February 14th 2025- The occultation is divided into two phases: the Minor Occultation (Ghaybah al-Sughra) and the Major Occultation (Ghaybah al-Kubra).- During the Minor Occultation, Imam Mahdi maintained communication with his followers through deputies.- In the Major Occultation, the Imam's communication is hidden, and followers are guided through religious scholars and community leadership.- The concept of the Mahdi's occultation challenges believers to remain steadfast in their faith despite the Imam's absence.- The absence of Imam Mahdi is viewed as a test of patience and spiritual perseverance.- Islamic eschatology places great emphasis on the Mahdi as a central figure who will restore justice and righteousness.- Some Sunni scholars also have traditions referring to a Mahdi figure, though with differences in the details compared to Shia beliefs.- The Mahdi's return is expected to coincide with a time of widespread injustice, oppression, and corruption, followed by a time of peace and equity.- Followers of the Imam Mahdi are encouraged to live in anticipation of his return, maintaining hope and working towards societal justice in the interim.- The Mahdi's occultation is seen as part of the broader divine plan, with a purpose that is ultimately tied to fulfilling God's will for the world. - Imam Mahdi's return will mark a dramatic transformation of the world order, bringing about the reign of truth and equity for all.Donate towards our programs today: https://jaffari.org/donate/Jaffari Community Centre (JCC Live)

Islamic Jurisprudence on the Beginning of Human Life and Its Legal Implications on Foetus and Mother by Mrs Hatice Kubra Memis

Mrs Hatice Kubra Memis (University of Exeter) The question of when human life begins is a multifaceted issue that extends beyond the realm of medicine. In Islamic Law, this topic is of particular importance, particularly in cases of induced miscarriage. Islamic legal rulings concerning the foetus can be categorized into two groups: those that relate directly to the foetus, such as nasab (lineage), diya (blood money), and inheritance, and those that relate to the foetus' influence on its mother's life, including her waiting period (ʿidda), manumission, fasting, maintenance, and punishment. This paper examines several of the rulings that have direct relevance to the foetus and its mother, including diya (blood money), kaffāra (expiation), ʿidda (waiting period), and umm walad (mother of the child). The way fuqaha (Muslim jurists) approach miscarriages vary depending on whether the foetus has a human appearance at the time of its demise or on the opinion of four trustworthy women who are experts in their field. To understand the criteria for determining when human life begins, this study focuses on the broader context of Islamic schools, such as Sunni and Shia, and particularly on the impact of the beginning of life on four issues: diya, kaffāra, completion of the ʿidda, and the status of umm walad. These issues are critical for establishing a discussion on matters that directly impact real-life situations such as abortion, stem cell and embryo research.

May we receive mercy from Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala and also receive guidance to gather sufficient supplies so that we are safe and comfortable in Mahsyar facing Allah SWT being entered into heaven by Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala without reckoning and also punishment. Surahs mentioned : - Surah Al Anfal 8, verse 1 : [ They ask you (O Muḥammad Sallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam) about the spoils of war. Say, “The spoils are for Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala and the Messenger Sallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam.” So fear Allah and adjust all matters of difference among you, and obey Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala and His Messenger Sallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam if you are believers. ] - Surah Al Anfal 8, verse 12 : [ (Remember, O Prophet,) when your Lord revealed to the angels, “I am with you. So make the believers stand firm. I will cast terror into the hearts of the disbelievers. So strike their necks and strike their fingertips.” ] - Surah Al Anfal 8, verse 19 : [ If you (Meccans) sought judgement, now it has come to you. And if you cease, it will be for your own good. But if you persist, We will persist. And your forces—no matter how numerous they might be—will not benefit you whatsoever. For Allah is certainly with the believers. ] - Surah Al Anfal 8, verse 48 : [ But when the two armies sighted each other, he (Satan) turned on his heels and said, “Indeed, I am disassociated from you. Indeed, I see what you do not see; indeed I fear Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala.” ] - Surah Al Anfal 8, verse 67 - 68 : [ It is not fit for a prophet that he should take captives until he has thoroughly subdued the land. You (believers) settled with the fleeting gains of this world, while AllahSubhanahu wa ta'ala's aim (for you) is the Hereafter. Allah is Almighty, All-Wise. Had it not been for a prior decree from Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, you would have certainly been disciplined with a tremendous punishment for whatever (ransom) you have taken. ] - Surah Ali ‘Imran 3, verse 133 : [ And be quick for forgiveness from your Lord, and for Paradise as wide as are the heavens and the earth. ] - Surah Muhammad 47, verse 4 : [ So when you meet the disbelievers (in battle), strike (their) necks until you have thoroughly subdued them, then bind them firmly. Later (free them either as) an act of grace or by ransom until the war comes to an end. So will it be. Had Allah willed, He (Himself) could have inflicted punishment on them. But He does (this only to) test some of you by means of others. And those who are martyred in the cause of Allah, He will never render their deeds void. ] - Surah Al Qamar 54, verse 45 : [ (Soon) their united front will be defeated and (forced to) flee. ] Hadith mentioned : - Sahih al-Bukhari 3984 : Book 64, Hadith 35 Narrated by Abu Usaid: [ On the day of Badr, Allah's Messenger Sallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam said to us, "When the enemy comes near to you, shoot at them but use your arrows sparingly (so that your arrows should not be wasted). ] - In a book of Mishkat al-Masabih : Book 19, Hadith 169 Chapter: Fighting in Jihad - Section 2 Imam Ahmad and Abu Dawud transmitted that Sayyidinā ‘Ali RadhiAllahu anhu said: [ At the battle of Badr 'Utba b. Rabi'a came forward followed by his son and his brother and cried out, “Who will engage in single combat?” Some young men of the Helpers responded to his call, but when he asked them who they were and they told him he said, “I have no use for you; I want only my cousins on my father's side.” Allah's Messenger Sallallāhu 'alaihi wa sallam then said, “Get up, Hamza; get up, ‘Ali; get up, ‘Ubaida ibn al-Harith.” Hamza went forward to Shaiba, I went forward to al-Walid, and after two blows had been exchanged between ‘Ubaida and ‘Utbah they wounded one another severely; so we turned against ‘Utbah, and when we had killed him we carried ‘Ubaida away. ]

Does it matter what we “do” as female entrepreneurs? Are we missing the point of the entrepreneurial journey if we are more concerned with doing than how we feel while doing it? When a female entrepreneur is spiritually aligned, she stands in her worthiness, releasing the idea of competitors and the mainstream way to do business. So, how do you get to this spiritually-aligned worthiness? Wendy Manganaro and special guest Kubra Ozguvenc discussed this topic on this episode of Wellness and Wealth. In this episode, you will find out the answers to: What does alignment mean in the spiritual realm? How do you stop and ask yourself how you want to feel as you grow your business? How does masculine and feminine energy help and hurt your entrepreneurial journey? How does one not compare themselves to others and know they are attracting the right people in their lives? How do you become aware of all the signs the Universe is sending you?

When we speak of resilience we often think of someone who is a "fighter", someone who will keep pushing through the yuck and never surrender. My guest today embodies the word in every aspect. Her approach to her life is inspiring. Waking up one morning at the age of 19 and being paralyzed, she didn't quit. She faced her fears and pushed through the darkest times in search for the lesson, message and gift. How do you define Spirituality? Spirituality is finding your unique way to reconnect your worth and nature. In your own words what is a "Spiritual Awakening"? It's the “aha” moment that you recognize your actions/ lifestyle/ goals don't match with your needs and nature. In this class, we explore and analyze three distinct yet interrelated topics: A Prophetic educational methodology which includes a specific hadith on the four best women in Paradise. Ancient Arabia: Contexts and Contradictions. We discuss particular concepts in the social, cultural and economic context in which Sayyida Khadijah peace be upon her was born and lived before the advent of Islam. This includes the two extremes of venerating the female on the angelic level and engaging in femicide from fear of poverty. Where is the 'middle way' of the fitra, the primordial human disposition in this context, and do men really hate women? Lessons from the life of Sayyida Khadijah al-Kubra, peace be upon her. We look at several aspects of her history, including how she was the first Believer, how she nurtured this new religion in its very difficult early years, at her role as a facilitator in its flourishing and how at a late age in her life she became the most perfected exemplar of true faith and certainty.
