Rob Thomas, Editor-in-Chief of Club + Resort Business chats with Steve Skinner, CEO of KemperSports, about the company's new partnership with Touchstone Golf. KemperSports, a 45-year-old golf management company with more than 200 properties in 35 states, has partnered with Touchstone Golf, which manages 41 properties primarily in the western U.S. The partnership aims to leverage each other's expertise, particularly in third-party management and local market knowledge. Skinner highlights the importance of technology and innovation in enhancing the golf experience and discusses future growth plans, including potential acquisitions and expanding into new markets. He also expresses optimism about the industry's future, driven by a new generation of golfers. Also in the news, the six-month golf course renovation project at the Okatie Creek Golf Course at Sun City Hilton Head in Bluffton, S.C., focuses on enhancing turf conditions and playability. As part of the course renovation, all greens will be hulled out and re-grassed with Tif Eagle turf, while fairways and tee boxes will be re-grassed with Celebration turf. Read about four ways clubs can leverage technology for workforce efficiency. Joe Morrison, Director of Business Development at Adams Keegan, says technology is revolutionizing many aspects of our lives, and country clubs are no exception. These institutions are increasingly adopting solutions to enhance efficiency. When integrated thoughtfully, technology can streamline operations, improve member experiences, and enhance workforce productivity, all while maintaining the personal touch that members value most. Lastly, a Florida Club hosts its annual ‘Celebration of Creativity' member art show. The annual art show at Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club in Vero Beach, Fla., included an artwork pop-up featuring 24 paintings for sale benefiting The Learning Alliance. “Supporting the community through philanthropic efforts is so important to our members,” says General Manager Rob Tench.

How can education transform lives in underserved regions like Eastern Uganda? Education is a fundamental right, yet millions are denied access to quality learning. Learning Alliance recognizes that just throwing textbooks at children doesn't make learning happen. In addition to high-quality, localized materials, Learning Alliance is adding teacher training and ongoing coaching to ensure long-term impact. Robust evidence coming out of RCTs in Kenya has inspired this model, which is set to launch in Eastern Uganda in 2025. When I interviewed Learning Alliance Co-founder Ilana Kessler for my podcast, I learned how the project synthesizes her teaching background with extensive experience in scaling development work in East Africa. She isn't just someone flying into the region blind, she has worked in Kenya, Ghana, and Tanzania and thinks deeply about what her work means to East African people. Her scientific mindset, evidenced by the way she speaks about research and data, makes me bullish about how well the evidence elsewhere in East Africa might transfer to the Learning Alliance. I'm thrilled to see work that both honours the dignity of Ugandan people and stands to help millions. If Learning Alliance even partially realizes the promise that structured pedagogy holds, this could enable a better way of life for society in that region. If you want to launch a high-impact charity, please visit our website and subscribe to our newsletter. We are excited to unveil the February-March 2024 Incubation Program cohort: 1. Centre for Aquaculture Progress focuses on farmed fish welfare. 2. Notify Health improves life-saving vaccine coverage for children through effective and scalable vaccination reminders. 3. Learning Alliance tackles the foundational learning crisis by bringing evidence-based teaching practices into classrooms 4. Novah works towards the reduction of intimate partner violence. 5. Access to Medicines Initiative addresses contraception stock-outs. 6. FarmKind aims to close the funding gap for some of the most impactful animal welfare charities. 7. Ark Philanthropy helps high-net-worth individuals create philanthropic strategies to address global challenges. 8. Taimaka specializes in acute malnutrition treatment. 9. A charity focused on animal welfare (to be announced later this year). An introduction to each charity: Centre for Aquaculture Progress Co-founders: Naomi Murn, Martin Wicke, August Hochman (0.5FTE) Website: www.centreforaquacultureprogress.org Email address: info@centreforaquacultureprogress.org CE incubation grant: $30,000 Description of the intervention: The Centre for Aquaculture Progress is a new organization focused on improving the aquaculture industry to benefit consumers, farmers, and fish. It is the first organization dedicated to improving fish welfare in Greece. The organization's first campaign will involve advocating for the increased uptake of pre-slaughter electrical stunning for Greek sea bream and sea bass. Background of the intervention: Greece is the largest fish producer in the EU, according to the number of individuals alive at any time. Despite Greece being a significant player in EU aquaculture, no animal welfare organization is currently dedicated to improving the welfare of farmed fish in Greece. Animal welfare organizations in the Mediterranean have identified Greece as a gap which must urgently be filled. Hundreds of millions of farmed sea bream and sea bass are subjected to extreme suffering in Greece yearly. In the slaughter process, they are unloaded live into an ice slurry and endure a slow and painful death by gradual freezing and suffocation. While inhumane slaughter is just one of many welfare problems sea bream and sea bass face, it has the most well-researched, tractable and agreed upon solution: pre-slaughter electrical stunning. Near-term plans: The first step for the Centre for Aquaculture Progress is to conduct a gap analysis invo...

Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS), a 3.5 GHz mid-band shared spectrum, offers a low-cost, high-speed broadband option for rural and underserved communities, and for cost-effective private network deployments. As the demand for this type of wireless infrastructure increases, so does the demand for a trained and certified workforce. Mobile network operators, wireless internet service providers or even individuals seeking a career in telecom now have access to CPI training that Learning Alliance and Federated Wireless have created to help spawn the market for shared spectrum connectivity.Kurt Schaubach, CTO, Federated Wireless and Cesar Ruiz, CEO, Learning Alliance Corp. discuss the partnership's goals and objectives with John Celentano, Inside Towers Business Editor.Support the show (https://insidetowers.com/subscription/)

bipolar is a solution to the ego and mediocrity part of this is creating new words or terms partly to get rid of stigma in a way but not just equivalent terms so I i saw that PTSD was changed to operational stress injury so that's sort of like an equivalent right whereas i would say that you could also make extra valence meaning bipolar disorder is like a disease whereas i see it actually as a gift and strength so if i was to change it to something else i might say hacking mania implying it something that you want even though it stems from a supposed mental illness as it is interpreted by society and psychiatry it's one thing to transform words into equivalence and it's another thing to transform them into extra valence in order to show that there are dimensions beyond the pathology I could say that I'm extra polar I have more polls I don't think I just have to low and high I'm not like an on and off switch and I thought of kind of a joke I thought of if I'm bipolar does that make so-called normal people homopolar can I call normal people homopolar I'm curious about these Homo Polar's they're so consistent and afraid they always act the same in public but I'm sure they go home and cry about it later I used to be homopolar myself now i'm omnipotent houma Polar's tell me about being omnipotent yet transitioned the universe is making us trans polar just as people can have a sex change people can also have a change in consciousness the ego can be surgically removed by the universe this is part of the evolution of consciousness we're getting into connection with the inner human dimensions we used to have when we were children the celebration body the silly body the laughter body the inside body the learning body and then we arise as those inner human dimensions which is multi-dimensional not this unit dimensional ego thought image sound structure altered states of consciousness are multi-dimensional where the ego consciousness is Uni mentation ille it's thinking all the time along the same lines thinking about itself and that is in itself an illusion because there's no self to think about there is thought thinking about itself and I remember reading in the book the politics of experience by already laying that psychosis is necessary that's why it happens and I wonder what would make psychosis not necessary what would make it so we don't need psychiatry because nobody goes into psychosis I think it has something to do with the fact that reality sucks and we have to create it to not suck by being are embodied manic selves i'm omnipotent it took a while to learn how to steer normal people their consciousness is like an atari game it's like just like a joystick like yes no maybe so right wrong good bad up down left right and there's a lot more gears and controls when we get in touch with manic consciousness if there was a constitution for people with bipolar disposition I'm sure one of the amendments would be the right to bare buns I also realized I was talking before probably several times about allostatic load which I learned about from dr. Daniel Siegel and how certain stressors add up and it can accumulate as what's called a low static lobe which is just basically an accumulation of stress and it's different for different people and certain people are more you know resilient than others but I came to a realization the other day that certain people are actually allostatic load for me like just being around them kind of feels like and I'm sure I'm that way for some people as well so it's interesting it's like certain people resonate with certain people and certain people actually increase one's allostatic load and then certain people actually decrease it I was actually just thinking now that a psychiatrist who give someone a diagnosis just basically throws on a huge allostatic load of the collective of what that means and the implications of that so that is not good and that could be one of the things about the diagnosis is and that's why I don't agree necessarily with it because it increases one's allostatic load when it's already in a compromised place so to be in that distress place and then have that put on it's so close to game over for so many people at that point for some people it is so really emotional CPR and things like that would be so helpful to not be pathologized and maybe at some point it would be good to be pathologized but not right away it seems like bipolar disposition goes from a state of a low static lightness having a way less stress than a normal ego consciousness would and then to allostatic load where everything feels dark and heavy and I feel part of that is the collective and somebody told me a quote and it was a Carl Jung quote and it was paraphrased he didn't know it word for word but he said that Carl Jung said that loneliness isn't the lack of people around you it is lack of opportunity to say things that are meaningful to you and I wrote that down because that's what I'm doing on these videos as I'm speaking about things that are meaningful to me and just to myself in self dialogue and that's mainly because I don't have a consistent person I can talk to all the time about this I am NOT in the financial position at this moment to pay someone to talk to me and even if I did it would be a very slow process over weeks and weeks like an hour a week maybe for like weeks and weeks and weeks whereas I can talk to myself anytime I want so I guess I'm just saying that saying meaningful things doesn't necessarily mean to have to talk to somebody I can just talk to myself and maybe that's better than nothing I also thought about how thought is usually recognizing the past and that's lack of a quark sensation because we're not really thinking oh that's the past be quiet we let it go on we let it affect us we let it affect our physiology and so that lack of X fork sensation actually increases allostatic load we're overloading ourselves with information from the past and it makes it more difficult to deal with information and the present moment and Krishnamurti talks about in one of his videos about how it's not about how to stop thought he said it's about how to not record and so I thought of how recording is allostatic load if we're recording stuff it's going to be heavy in our system whereas if we don't it just passes through us he does talk about how in order to not record one has to be very alert and aware and attentive to the moment I wrote down a while ago that another term for psychosis could be curious subconscious discovery time I feel like I'm attempting to recreate my life energy as relational not egocentric so it's worldcentric development or orientation of consciousness and that relates to the relational mind that relates to oxytocin and bonding personal development implies isolation in a way a flower doesn't think I'm going to personally develop it still develops into something but it requires to be related to bees and air and sunlight and dirt and soil microorganisms or to say I'm going to personally develop is kind of silly I mentioned in other videos the word ability shin and i came across the word habilitation with an h and and it actually means assisting a child with achieving developmental skills when impairments have caused delaying or blocking of initial acquisition of skills and I feel like map consciousness is coming in to help a person develop skills certain behavior patterns certain ways of being that are actually what is there when the ego is scrambled so this energy this manic consciousness is habilitation yet psychiatry comes in and blocks that so it actually blocks the habilitation it's blocking the transformation is blocking the trends consciousness and a person in trans consciousness can eventually integrate both the other consciousness and the ego consciousness within that consciousness not mistaking itself for the ego consciousness and not mistaking that dimension as what is driving life I saw an email from Jason Silva and he said the new billionaire will attempt to reach out and touch the lives of a billion people and if it's true the one out of five people develop a so-called mental illness that means that if I were to reach a billion people it would be half of the people with mental health stuff or maybe not all people with mental health stuff but people that support people with mental health stuff and mania and psychosis is the universe playing different music through us we hear different music we hear different sound and we behave in different ways the stuff I've talked about about safety in my videos it's like being prepared for the inner earthquake it shakes up the inner it's like the ground that we walk on is not the most fundamental thing there's plates underneath and those are moving and they can shake and shake up the stuff on the surface and is shaking of the ego in order to orient us towards world centricity normality is the misuse of the mind body heart as it unfolds in time and mania tries to reteach us how to use it tries to get us to remember by stopping it'll be cool to create something like a visionary Learning Alliance so we can just continue to learn together I'm interested in what's possible not solving problems this is a learning conversation with myself I have another word transformation mental health system goes to mental health system Get bonus content on PatreonSupport this Connected data usage from both mobile devices and fixed IoT sensors is growing exponentially. To meet that growth, wireless infrastructure must be expanded greatly with more macrocells, small cells and fiber backhaul to support the multitude of 5G applications and use cases that operate on a mix of low-, mid-, and high-band frequencies.Advanced wireless technologies need qualified and certified men and women to do the job properly. Yet there are not enough trained technicians to perform the work that needs to be done in the next few years. In turn, these workforce shortages are driving the need for comprehensive and customized training programs.John Celentano, Inside Towers Business Editor, discusses with Cesar Ruiz, CEO, Learning Alliance Corporation the current state of wireless workforce, and training programs available to develop that workforce.Support the show (https://insidetowers.com/subscription/)
With the school year quickly approaching and coronavirus cases surging, New Mexico schools are going to be fully online until at least September 8th. Correspondent Megan Kamerick talks with single mother Bridget Montoya, who is also a nurse working with COVID-19 patients, about balancing her work schedule with her children’s education and safety. Host Gene Grant talks to the new face of the Black Lives Matter movement in New Mexico: Young organizers and activists. Organizers and activists from Learning Alliance of New Mexico and Fight For Our Lives discuss the message behind the movement and what specific reforms and changes they are seeking. Gene Grant and The Line opinion panel look further into pushback against Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and her administration’s public health orders, particularly from some New Mexico mayors who object to closing indoor dining in restaurants. Eighteen mayors signed a letter protesting the governor’s recent op-ed threatening to remove elected officials if they didn’t comply with mandates. The Line panel also looks more closely at the purpose of Operation Legend, the initiative that will send 35 federal law enforcement agents to Albuquerque to fight crime. Some state and local leaders are concerned that sending officers to New Mexico is just an attempt by the Trump administration to politicize the issue of public safety, while others welcome the added help. For the final topic, The Line takes on the implications for candidates endorsed by Cowboys for Trump after the racist comments made recently by that group’s leader.
In the past, teaching and learning was centered around finding information and remembering it. But advances in technology have fundamentally changed our relationship to information, allowing us to have it at our fingertips, and we must consider how this shift impacts the focus of education. What skills do students need in order to succeed in the future — especially one that's increasingly unpredictable? Dr Polly Radcliffe will talk about the importance of establishing a ‘Learning Alliance' from the start of our research project.
In today’s conversation, I speak with Barbara Hammond. Barbara openly reflects on her personal journey as both a parent and a leader, emphasizing the importance of freedom of mind and connecting authentically. In our discussion, she reveals what she’s seen since learning to rely less on her intellect, and more on her ability to listen to, connect with and understand others. Barbara shares profound insights and points to compassion and presence as being critical in affecting change within a community. In 2009, Barbara Hammond co-founded The Learning Alliance, an educational nonprofit funded by social venture capital and dedicated to early children’s literacy. The Learning Alliance has been awarded 9 national Pacesetter awards from the campaign for grade-level Reading and has been featured in a PBS NewsHour special for its Moonshot Moment collective impact work. She is the former Chairman of the Board of the Indian River County Mental Health Association and currently serves on the Board of the Kindergarten Readiness Collaborative. She is an Emergent Learning Master Practitioner and conducts leadership development programs.

Bill West has been involved in edtech for over 30 years. After graduating with a computer science degree from Indiana University Bloomington in 1987, he went to work for Andersen Consulting on an initiative that was described at the time as CBT, or computer-based training. Since, West has worked for the dot-com-era UNext, Xerox, LEO Learning, and eLearning Brothers. He has also launched and sold his own custom corporate training design company, Option Six. Later, he founded the Learning Alliance, a team comprised of five corporate training design and development companies. Their collective C-suite includes numerous pioneers of education technology, from developers of PLATO and Atari to people who helped write the SCORM and xAPI protocols. West’s latest venture, Regatta VR, creates VR-based corporate training initiatives. To learn more, eLearning Inside recently reached West on the phone. Bill West, the founder of the Learning Alliance, has developed learning solutions for the world’s greatest companies for over 25 years, including Amazon, Microsoft, Bank of America, and leading brands from nearly every industry from finance to consumer products to health care. His businesses won their first international award in CBT in 1989 and now has over 30 international awards to its credit. The company’s groundbreaking efforts were featured on CBS 60 Minutes and cited as “the potential of elearning” in 2001. I invited Bill West onto my daily tech podcast to learn more about how the Learning Alliance has organized its virtual and augmented reality businesses into Regatta VR. We also talk about how the new company will focus on the exploitation of immersive media technology for corporate training.

Nurseries in the United Kingdom are hindering children's physical development by playing safe. The United Kingdom's Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills (Ofsted) noted that nurseries have taken measures to stop children from doing risky activities. In fact, some have prohibited children from engaging in playground activities, while others have banned field trips. Ofsted warned that such prohibitions can have a negative impact on children's physical development. For one, stopping children from doing physical activities weakens their dexterity and muscular strength. Aside from physical development, children's ability to understand rules and boundaries is also affected. Ofsted Chief Inspector Amanda Spielman explained that nurseries are creating a risk-free environment for children to ensure compliance with health and safety rules. Parents are also putting a lot of pressure on nurseries to keep children out of harm's way at all times. Pre-school Learning Alliance's quality and standards manager, Melanie Pilcher, advised nurseries and parents to learn how to manage risk. If both parties can learn risk management, children will have more freedom to do risky activities and their physical development will not be compromised. Bright Horizons Family Solutions, an early education provider in several countries, has taken action to ensure children's physical development while teaching risk management in its over 200 nurseries. The institution has health and safety mascots that teach students how to avoid getting hurt while doing physical activities at school and at home. The mascots, called Candy Floss, guides students in making safe choices, assessing different kinds of risks, and taking control of their own safety.
Several daycares in England have gone out of business after the implementation of the free childcare policy. England's Department for Education introduced the policy in September 2017. Under the policy, working parents who have three- to four-year-old children are eligible for a 30-hour free childcare a week. In the program's first year, over 340,000 children were able to attend daycares for free, allowing parents to save up to $6,500. On the downside, the policy made it difficult for daycares to make ends meet and forced some centers to shut down. Daycare owners blamed the difficulty on the government's underfunding. They explained that the funds are not enough to cover the centers' operational expenses as prices go up. For instance, the Anchors Nursery School in Hampshire, England, was compelled to shut down after 21 years because it could no longer sustain its operations. According to its owner, daycares would be better off if the government subsidized the 30-hour scheme and charged parents for the rest of the costs. To stay in business, other daycares have asked parents to shoulder additional costs. The Abacus Ark daycares in London charge parents around $50 a day for children's lunch and extracurricular activities. Without the additional fee, the chain would shut down. The Pre-school Learning Alliance, an organization dedicated to supporting childcare facilities in England, said that the government needs to allocate more funds to daycares. Otherwise, more daycares will be at risk of closing next year, the organization warned. Back in November 2017, the childcare sector wrote an open letter to Philip Hammond, the United Kingdom's head of treasury, to call for more funding.
