A lot of the issues that people are subject to facing in their adult lives stem from failures in their childhood environments. And in my clinical experience, these issues are somewhat different depending on whether the failure originated in the father or in the mother. In today's episode, I'll be comparing mother love and father love: how they might be distinct from each other and why both are instrumental to the well-being of the child. Stephanie has a fun surprise for anyone who has loved the show for some time! She is joined by her husband Jonah, for the first time on the show, to celebrate a momentous milestone: the fifth anniversary of the podcast! Through a heartfelt conversation, they invite you to explore the themes of spiritual growth, understanding God's love, and the journey of faith. They hope to point us to God's faithfulness and the transforming power of His presence. In a world rife with distractions, Stephanie and Jonah invite you to remember our need for intentional presence. They discuss practical steps like spending quiet time with God, paying attention to distractions, and listening to the Holy Spirit's nudges. This investment in intimacy with God allows for discerning His guidance and being His hands and feet in daily life. Scripture challenges us to engage our faith deeply through Christ. Jonah opens up about his spiritual journey, transitioning from a works-based faith, to understanding sanctification as a divine gift through the Holy Spirit's work. He highlights the importance of obedience stemming from gratitude rather than religious vanity, noting the critical need to avoid the pitfalls of pride and self-righteousness. Stephanie asks Jonah about a Bible character he relates to. Jonah finds a connection with King David, appreciating his acknowledgment of grace and his deep yearning for divine presence. He draws a beautiful parallel with an imagined “third brother” in the parable of the prodigal son, the brother who is content simply being in his father's presence. This will inspire you! Make sure to listen. Jonah admires David's profound understanding of grace and his relentless pursuit of God's presence. David's journey, especially as portrayed in Psalm 56 and Psalm 27, serves as a roadmap for seeking God's presence amid crises and life's challenges. Jonah encourages us to embrace God's goodness, trusting Him with our sorrows and tears, much like David did. Jonah's aspiration to reject shallow spirituality is another powerful point. He invites us towards deeper wisdom and joy through God's presence, rather than transient cultural practices, urging us to develop mindful habits centered on Christ. This intentionality in connecting with God's presence is essential in today's distraction-filled world. Stephanie and Jonah provide practical advice for growing in grace and holiness. They emphasize that sanctification should not be self-centered, but focused on reflecting Christ's image on earth. This aligns with God's broader goal for us - of transforming us from within, in order to then share love externally, cultivating an internal source of life that impacts outward actions. As they conclude the episode, Jonah and Stephanie reflect on the journey of Gospel Spice, expressing gratitude for its impact over the past five years. They offer a prayer of thanksgiving for the ministry and its listeners, invoking God's guidance and blessings. Fun Fact from the Episode: Stephanie and Jonah usually chat in French, but for this special episode, they switched to English, making the conversation an adventurous and fun challenge for them both! “The biggest thing a leader can bring to the business is the responsibility to put the right people on the bus. And to have the bravery to say that there's a reason that they need to hop off the bus.” In this episode of The Inner Chief podcast, I speak to Carolyn Creswell, Founder and MD of Carman's Kitchen, on how to fire people gracefully, doing what you love, understanding menopause and having a genuine work-life balance.
Love is one of the most abundant resources in the universe. So why do so many people struggle to find it? Simple: they don't understand what they're searching for, and they look for it in the wrong places. Most people don't want to love as much as they want the gratification of being loved -- which is why they look for love in other people. I discuss further in this episode. Welcome to another thought-provoking episode of the Father and Joe Podcast. In this conversation between Joe Rocky and Father Boniface Hicks, we delve deep into the concept of love and the intriguing logic of God. This discussion is not just for Christians but for anyone seeking meaning and purpose in their lives.Joe starts with a fundamental question that many of us grapple with: Why would God, who is all-powerful, choose to go through the messiness and challenges of human existence? Father Boniface's answer is profound, shedding light on the unconventional logic of divine love. He explains that God's primary aim is to maximize love, which often requires vulnerability and sacrifice. The conversation explores how humans, too, can embrace this logic of love in their lives. It touches on the importance of trust, both in divine and human relationships, and how small acts of kindness and generosity can have a ripple effect in spreading love and transforming the world.Father Boniface emphasizes that the first step is to let ourselves be loved by God, recognizing our worthiness of His love. Only then can we authentically share that love with others, creating a more divine atmosphere in our interactions. So, if you're searching for answers about the nature of love, the logic of God, and how you can make a positive impact in the world, this conversation provides valuable insights and perspectives. Join us on this journey of self-awareness, spiritual growth, and the pursuit of a deeper understanding of love.If you have questions or topics you'd like us to explore in future episodes, feel free to reach out to us at fatherandjoe@gmail.com. Many people long to live for God and yet wonder how they can know exactly how close they are to doing it. This raises questions like, “How can I know when I'm really living out the Christian life?” and, “Am I letting God work in my life to help me live for Him, and what are the indicators that let me know it's happening?” Are there signs that indicate whether we are living out the Christian life? Are there markers that can measure how well we're living it out? The answer is that there are, and perhaps the best measure is found in a life that expresses the nine Fruit of the Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23. These nine attributes (or fruit) serve as proof of how effective we are at allowing God to work in our lives, and that's because when we fully surrender to Him, these traits are expressed more clearly and strongly than when we don't live for Him. In this series, we will overview what the Fruit of The Spirit are, unpack how each of these nine fruit work, and explore how they can reveal how close we are to God and how well we're allowing Him to work in our lives. When we embrace these fruit, we will live a Fruit(Full) life!

Bryan Post is a speaker, author, and one of America's leading child behavior and adoption experts. He is the creator of the Stress Model, a dynamic theoretical model of human behavior. Through the Stress Model, Bryan has developed Family-Centered Regulatory Parenting and Regulatory Therapy, which have both been taught at the university level and are changing the lives of adults, parents, and families. Bryan is the founder of the Post Institute—an organization dedicated to helping parents heal wounds created by trauma—and serves as the Clinical Director for Parents in Training, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides wraparound services to adoptive families throughout Northern California. Bryan joins me today to discuss the Stress Model and why it's important to go to the source of an individual's trauma. He describes his early life and how stealing, like other forms of addiction, is an attempt to soothe an internal condition. He explains why mental health professionals must work through their own trauma and reveals a critical flaw in society's mental health systems. He also dissects the relationship between love and fear and underscores how we can empower ourselves to become aware of the source of our pain. “When we are stressed, we are not in love—we are in fear.
