Do you agonize over deadlines and pressure in your schedule?   "[C]asting all your cares on him, because he cares about you." 1 Peter 5:7 CSB   This is another of the "cans" of scripture from Victory Over the Darkness by Neil T. Anderson. Why should we worry and be upset when we can cast our cares on God? Do you have any worries or cares? Do you sense pressure in your schedule? In my own situation, I feel the pressure that comes from being overcommitted. God is so good in my life, and yet, I can get worried about how I'm going to honor my own commitments. I'm my own worst enemy. I don't say "no" enough.   But I think this passage goes way beyond that. Maybe you're in a serious mess that you didn't create. Maybe it's health related or related to the current financial situation. Maybe you've lost your job.   Can we really cast our cares on God? Do we really trust verses like this?   I want to do better. Today, take an action that shows you trust God. Ask him what he wants you to do next. Then do it. Even if it seems like something out of the ordinary, let's practice doing what God tells us to do. If your idea lines up with scripture find a way to do it. Let's listen to Jesus and do what he says.   I'm part of a community that tries to actively follow Jesus every day. Do you see possibilities or obstacles?   "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love and sound judgment." 2 Timothy 1:7 CSB   I'm reading a list of "can's" from Victory Over Darkness by Neil T. Anderson. The third "can" asks us why would we fear when God's Word says we haven't been given a Spirit of fear, but of power, love and sound judgment.   Fear paralyzes us. Fear of failure keeps us from taking action. Fear of the future may cause us to abuse alcohol or drugs. Fear of consequences may cause us to do many things. I think I overeat because I am afraid of missing out.   Notice how Paul reminds Timothy that the opposite of fear is power. We find the power to boldly act when we avoid a focus on fear. The NET translation even capitalizes "Spirit" here to say we've been given the Holy Spirit, not a spirit of fear, but the Spirit of God.   So why would we freeze, or get anxious, or say we can't do something when we've been given a Spirit of power and love and sound judgment?   Why not take some bold action today? Happy New Year KIC Lubowa! May it be a year in which we all individually and corporately give more glory to God.God has led me to write to you about Psalm 119. I have never thought this psalm so relevant to me until now when God stated highlighting it to me. The psalm speaks about the importance of God's commandments, ways and truth. And does it with some enthusiasm.Verses 97-104Mem97 Oh, how I love Your law!It is my meditation all the day.98 You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies;For they are ever with me.99 I have more understanding than all my teachers,For Your testimonies are my meditation.100 I understand more than the ancients,Because I keep Your precepts.101 I have restrained my feet from every evil way,That I may keep Your word.102 I have not departed from Your judgments,For You Yourself have taught me.103 How sweet are Your words to my taste,Sweeter than honey to my mouth!104 Through Your precepts I get understanding;Therefore I hate every false way.In this section of the psalm (called Mem not meme!) I would like to highlight how living God's laws, commandments, precepts, judgements and words makes you wiser than your enemies and the ancients (elders). Read verses 98, 99 and 100. I used to love listening to discussion programmes on the radio when they would bring clever experts to discuss thorny issues. They stimulated me and maybe made me feel important but nowadays I realise they lack wisdom and speak like fools before God. They use their great minds independent of God instead of turning to and working with God. I'm not going to let them off the hook and say that their intelligence gets in the way of their faith because they choose to use their minds instead of obeying God and it is rebellion just like all sin. God has given some people to be very intelligent and together with him they can do great things. There are great Christian thinkers and they are such a blessing to the church. Believers like John Stott, Jacob Prosch, Neil T Anderson, C.S. Lewis, Ravi Zacharias, Josh McDowell and Derek Prince (you can insert your own favourite Christian Intellectual). People who can consume large amounts of information, process it correctly and then communicate it to the rest of the believers. Wonderful!How is it we can listen to international news for an hour and not hear God mentioned even once. And yet God has created all things, He sustains all things and the future of all things are in His hands. How is it we can watch a two-hour Hollywood movie about the lives of people and God is not mentioned one time! Oh the foolishness and rebellion of man!God's truth will keep you on the straight path that Jesus spoke of in Matthew 7:14. This path can be difficult but it is the right path which leads to life. Others will fall off it but if you stay obedient you will find you are still there right with God. Even when you don't know what's happening and you feel like you are in a huge storm where you can't see anything, if you keep following Christ and obeying God you will come out the other side, even closer to God than when you entered your particular storm, verse 105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Believe me, I have just had two incredible years when my personal life seemed to be falling apart in 2019 and then my service and ministry for God seemed to be falling apart in 2020! I wondered at times, “What is happening God?” But I'm still standing and I don't take any credit for that, I was just hanging on at times. When I sinned I always came back to God. Please do that, when you sin, however bad, always come back to God. He is waiting for you, not to condemn you but pick you up again.Desire the truth, desire God, have you ever been really, really thirsty, verse 131 “I opened my mouth and panted. For I longed for Your commandments.” Nothing can satisfy you like God and His ways. Run after it, sacrifice for it, pay for it(like with good books)! The truth will set you free! One thing I have learnt in recent months is that when You give up everything for Christ, in obedience to Him there is an incredible freedom that the unsaved never experience. Still hungry? Today our expert guest is Derek Stone. After working to support his family as a struggling artist, he chose to reevaluate his life and his way of thinking. In three short years, he grew a small one-man show into a multi-million-dollar company. When Derek's business first hit seven figures, he tried to identify what the turning point could have been. He traced back his incredible transformation to the decision to forgive his father. He left the path of blame and began traveling down the path of forgiveness, which led him to live his best life. He is now on a mission to empower others to make similar transformations by helping them take charge of their own lives. Derek's childhood involved several traumas. He was sexually abused by his step-father, he didn't know where his next meals would come from, and they often lost power or hot water due to unpaid bills. He blamed his dad because he believed it was his responsibility to protect Derek from these things. He lived with a facade that everything was alright, but inside he was increasingly bitter. He carried that anger until he was 19, when he attended a conference called Stomping Out the Darkness, based on the book “Stomping Out the Darkness” by Neil T. Anderson and Dave Park. It was there that he confronted the idea of forgiving his dad. David began to forgive everyone in his life that had wronged him as they came to his mind — his father, his mother, his abuser. When he was done, he didn't feel a need to hide behind his facade anymore. He rekindled his relationship with his father, and he felt a burden lifted from him. In 2014, David's construction business began taking off. He found it hard to balance that work, family events, and his passion for touring as a musician. He made the decision to walk away from touring. This led to some serious depression — not because he wasn't touring, but because he lost the platform for his message. Eventually, it came to him that he could share the message in a book: “Why Should I Forgive?”   The process of forgiveness is not easy, but it is so important to your development as a person. Outline the vision of where you want your life to go and what kind of person you want to be. Cleanse your surroundings of toxic, negative people. You want to emulate positive, healthy people. Figure out how to make healthy decisions. Take responsibility for your own life. Deal with the self-critic and the cost of bitterness.   Even when someone has done you real harm, forgiveness is an act you do for you. It is not a justification for what they did to you but giving yourself permission to stop holding on. In this episode, we finish our review of the book Victory Over the Darkness, by Neil T. Anderson. For more information visit www.axispodcast.com Thoughts and feelings of rejection that often plague us can be major deterrents to our maturity in Christ. Apart from Christ, we all learned early in life to respond to rejection by taking one of three defensive postures. First is beat the system (can be anything from family church society, in general,) this person beats the system and learns to compete to get ahead and become the significant other. Eventually result in more rejection because the ability to perform eventually diminishes The emotional effects of beating the system includes: the inability to express feelings, emotional insulation perfectionism, worries. Attitudes in reactions toward God for this person refuses to come under the authority of God and have little real fellowship with God. The second defensive posture is to give into the system. This person continues to satisfy others but begins to believe that he or she is rejectable and unlovable. The emotional results of someone who gives into the system are feelings of worthlessness and inferiority, subjectivity, introspection, and self-condemnation. The attitudes are reactions toward God for someone who gives into the system or projects their earthly Father's behavior onto God and unable to trust God. Third defensive posture is rebelling against system. This person fights the system and says "I don’t need or want your love," and often behaves or dresses in an objectionable way. This results in more rejection because a rebel causes others to be more defensive of the system the rebel rejects, emotional results are wishing he or she had never been born, undisciplined, irresponsibility, self-hatred and bitterness. Attitudes and reactions toward God —they view God as a tyrant and rebel against him.

A Single Woman's Story :: A Discussion About Singleness, Mental Health, Celibacy, and Life with Mina Nyenke (pronounced N-Yen-Kay) In a power packed interview,, our host takes on the heavy topics of singleness, celibacy, mental health and what life looks like for a Christian single in today's hyper sexual culture. Mina Says, created by Ms Mina Nyenke, is a new platform that's been created to give Christian singles a voice and both our host and our guest charge straight forward into the elephants in the room.   A Few Key Ideas: Before the serious stuff, we talked about Nigerian food (You've got to hear the interview - LOL!)! Mental Health is a real issue. Prayer is important, but sometimes professional counseling is important. Ever since we began this podcast in February, it's been a learning experience for me getting into the podcasting world. Though I listen to many podcasts, it's a bit different to start working on one. Yet, it's been a blessing to talk with and learn from so many people. I thank all of you who take the time to listen and even give some feedback. Dr. Neil T. Anderson talks about the realities of living in a harsh world. He is founder and president emeritus of Freedom in Christ Ministries. He was formerly chairman of the Practical Theology Department at Talbot School of Theology at Biola University. He holds five degrees from Talbot, Pepperdine University and Arizona State University. A former aerospace engineer, Dr. Anderson has 20 years of experience as a pastor and has written several best-selling books on living free in Christ.
