People from all over the globe competing for the 125 PGA Tour cards Martin Kaymer lost his PGA Tour by not playing a required 15 events splitting time between the European Tour and PGA Tour. Jeff said that Kaymer is out of the playoffs this year but win a major championship Kaymer will be alright moving forward. Jeff mentions that Robert Streb got a huge jump on this season by playing the early events in the fall start of the 2014-2015 Tour start. Already Rory McIlroy has committed to play in the early events of the upcoming 2015-2016 season. Holly asks Jeff his thoughts on the upcoming FedEx Cup playoffs are there true favorites or will someone come out of the pack like last year? Holly says that someone with a hot short game might come out on top at Plainfield Country Club in New Jersey this week with the greens being the way they are set up for The Barclays. Jeff said that he likes the rotation for the playoffs among courses and Plainfield is such a great old course. Matt Kuchar is Jeff's pick to win The Barclays this week. Steve Eubanks, Global Golf Post, calls in and starts things off talking about the U.S. Amateur Champion Bryson DeChambeaux who also won the NCAA individual men's title this year. Steve talks about Bryson's idiosyncrasies with his golf equipment. Holly and Steve also cover the LPGA and Lydia Ko's win and Stacey Lewis' who Steve seems a little snake bitten lately not being able to close out the tournaments. Lewis is playing at the Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic where the field is a little thin. The 2015 Solheim Cup is in September and Paula Creamer and Brittany Lang were named as the captain's picks by Juli Inkster. He thinks Creamer was picked for experienced and thinks the Americans team looks really well statistically. Last time the Europeans had the better numbers and ended up upsetting the USA on their home soil. Jeff Shain, Island Packet and Beaufort Gazette in Hilton Head, S.C., call in from beautiful South Carolina to talk about Davis Love III's win and the upcoming FedEx Cup playoffs. The third oldest, longest stretch of time between first and last wins. His first win was in 1987. Tiger turns 40 in December. He still moves the needle in the ratings and the Wyndham printed an extra 47,000 tickets after Tiger announced he was playing Wyndham. Tiger did a little analysis of Davis' putting during the week and Davis gave Tiger the feel of Sedgefield Country Club that seemed to help Tiger out this past weekend. Jeff wonders if Tiger had added one more start back in May might he have picked up enough points for him to make the playoffs? Holly mentions the putting hiccups Tiger has lately and the 11th hole when the wheels came off the cart for him with a triple bogey. Three of Dustin Johnson's three wins have been 54-hole wins and Jeff talks about DJ avoiding the clunker back 9 on the final rounds. Jeff mentions that four of the past five winners at the FedEx Cup have come off the pace and those who controlled their own destiny haven't been able to play well at East Lake to win it all. Jordan Spieth has the highest point total that there has ever been going into the FedEx Cup playoffs this year. Jeff Shain likes Spieth and DJ at the top of the leader board again, whereas Robert Streb might be a long shot as well as David Lingmerth. There was a demo day but it's mainly an apparel and fashion show. Tour Edge came out with a new limited edition hybrid with a slip stream sole. Chase 54 introduced a new line of apparel. One cool training aids was the Golf Chute by Chute Trainer that helps with the hip turns and adds distance off the tee using wind resistance in training. Mike said that a unique aspect is that the USA company employs physically challenged in the factory. Next week is the World Amateur Championship in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Golf Digest Top 50 Coach @GaryGilchrist Golf Digest Top 50 Coach Gary Gilchrist calls in to help Holly G announce the winner of a free week of golf instruction from the Gary Gilchrist Summer Junior Golf Camp valued at $1,850. Gilchrist, a South African golfer founded the academy in part because when he was growing up there wasn't much instruction available for junior golfers. Todd said that Troy has been going back and forth between the Web.com and the PGA Tour. Todd and Holly also talk about Jason Day's success at the RBC Canadian Open. Todd shares the story of Tiger and Jason playing together at The Open Championship. Tiger missed the cut and Jason Day was playing well. Tiger looked Jason in the eyes and said "Go get them, you know what to do." It meant a lot to Jason who idolized Tiger as a young kid. Todd shared that Day felt lost as a kid when he lost his father to cancer. Day's mother took out a second mortgage to send Jason to a boarding school that focused on golf. Jason was reluctant to go but read Tiger's book. After reading the book Day decided to focus all his energy on golf. Holly and Todd also talk about other top players like Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy. Holly asks Todd if he thinks McIlroy will play soon. Todd says one thing that any golfer does not want to do is come back early before your body is completely healed. Steve Eubanks, Global Golf Post, is the next guest on the show talking about Inbee Park's win at the Ricoh Women's British Open Championship in Turnberry, Scotland completing the women's career grand slam. Steve talks about Inbee's putting and how she has played so well with it lately. Holly asks Steve about Lydia Ko and Stacey Lewis's chances coming in the final major of the season. Steve points out that now there are a plethora of players playing well on the LPGA and not just one dominant player as in the past. Steve talks to Holly about the upcoming PGA Championship at Whistling Straits. Steve points out that three of the four championships this year will be held on a links style course this year. The two talk about the golf course there tends to favor the longer hitters like Bubba Watson, Martin Kaymer, and other bombers. Jeff Shain, PGATour.com calls in to wrap up the show. Tiger may be more relaxed now. Holly and Garry discuss Jordan Spieth. Garry states that Spieth's stats may not be earth shattering but he gets it in the hole. He is able to recover from errant shots and gives himself opportunities. He also putts well from 6-20 foot away and is able to save par. Kip Ingle, The Golf Auction.com, calls in from Augusta to talk to Holly about the massive global online auction. There will be more than 900 items to bid on. One of the featured items for bid is Jack Fleck's 1955 Ben Hogan 2-9 irons he used to upset Hogan. Fleck was the young professional who came from behind to beat Hogan in 1955. Considered one of the biggest upsets in golf, Fleck was a virtually unknown touring pro from Iowa. He prevented Hogan from winning a record 5th U.S. Open title forcing an 18-hole playoff at the 1955 Open, and did so using a custom made set of Ben Hogan irons. Hogan's company began making clubs in 1953. They were the only two in the field playing with Ben Hogan clubs. Tiger spoke with Ben and asked him who he was playing with in his final Masters practice round. Ben said Jordan Spieth, a fellow Texan. The first major of season for LPGA won by Brittany Lincicome. Steve said that it was one of the best competitions this year. She beat Stacey Lewis after an eagle on the 18th to force a playoff. The playoff took 3 holes. Holly and Steve talk about the Masters, the expected weather and some of the players who Steve feels that will be in contention. He likes Jordan Spieth and Jimmy Walker.
