Learn how to land billion dollar clients using revenue based sales strategies In this episode, Stephen Roche shares his proven approach for landing enterprise clients in the competitive financial industry. He reveals why tying products to new revenue generation, rather than just cost savings is the secret to winning major clients like BlackRock and JP Morgan. Stephen explains how building trust through thought leadership, leveraging strategic PR, and using authentic LinkedIn engagement creates a powerful sales ecosystem that makes you the safer choice for potential clients. Stephen Roche is the Co-Founder and President of Saphyre, a patented AI-powered platform that streamlines pre- and post-trade processes for financial institutions. Founded in 2017 with his identical twin brother Gabino, Saphyre has revolutionized the industry by enabling T+1 and even T-Zero trade settlements, helping financial institutions meet new SEC mandates while eliminating the traditional web of manual tasks. The company raised $18.7M in Series A funding in 2022 and boasts an impressive client roster including BlackRock, JP Morgan, and Citigroup. Key Takeaways: Tie your product to new revenue generation rather than just cost savings to make it irresistible to potential clients. Create a "safer option" by building market validation through visible client partnerships and thought leadership. Be authentic on LinkedIn by balancing industry insights with personal content instead of just corporate messaging. Use event sponsorships strategically to gain speaking opportunities that establish thought leadership in your industry. Leverage PR by negotiating press releases with clients and repurposing that content across multiple channels. Document your journey authentically rather than relying on corporate-approved marketing materials that feel impersonal. Use "social proof" from major clients to create FOMO among their competitors who aren't using your solution yet. Consider offering warrant structures tied to performance metrics for strategic partnerships instead of giving away equity upfront. Growing your business is hard, but it doesn't have to be. In this podcast, we will be discussing top level strategies for both growing and expanding your business beyond seven figures. The show will feature a mix of pure content and expert interviews to present key concepts and fundamental topics in a variety of different formats. We believe that this format will enable our listeners to learn the most from the show, implement more in their businesses, and get real value out of the podcast. Enjoy the show.
In this week's episode of The Cycling Podcast, Daniel Friebe is joined by Richard Abraham & Eurosport commentator Rob Hatch, as we look back at the World TT champs last Sunday and ahead to the men's elite road race at the weekend. Remco Evenepoel's victory sealed an historic Olympic-Worlds TT double…but the Belgian could yet achieve an even unlikelier feat if he adds Sunday's road race title to the gold medal he earned in Paris in August. Tadej Pogačar nonetheless remains the favourite - and a first world title for him at the weekend would complete a remarkable sequence of his own: the same Giro-Tour-Worlds ‘Triple Crown' that only Eddy Merckx and Stephen Roche have achieved before in men's cycling. The British team will hope that neither Pog nor Remco leaves Zürich with the (RR) rainbow jersey - and their head coach, Matt Brammeier, tells us what to expect on Sunday from the likes of Pidcock, the Yates brothers and Stephen Williams. This week James and Will are joined by none other than Tadej Pogačar, currently the greatest rider on the planet having this year triumphed - and decimated all-comers - at both the Giro d'Italia and Tour de France, a feat last achieved by Marco Pantani in 1998. Next up the World Championships and a potential Triple Crown - can Pogačar join that elite club of Eddy Merckx and Stephen Roche? We sat down with Pogačar as he recce'd the World's course in Zurich and took on a charity bike ride for PlumeStrong, for whom he is ambassador. We discuss his rivalry with Jonas Vingegaard; why he secretly hates wearing the yellow jersey; what he makes of Remco Evenepoel; the pivotal moments at this year's Tour; whether his performances make him the GOAT (or if not, what more he needs to do); how he manages to stay so relaxed; and, most importantly, what he eats for breakfast. This episode also has a bonus interview with tech billionaire and cycling fanatic, Fahri Diner. Fahri co-founded and runs Plume, the tech company behind the PlumeStrong foundation and the PlumeStrong Cycling Challenge. We talk to Fahri about staying focussed, why cycling is necessary for the soul, and how to run a tech company, a charitable enterprise and keep up with Tadej Pogačar, all the at the same time.Interview begins at----This episode is brought to you by Tredz, the online and bricks and mortar bike shop run by real riders, for real riders. This week, James and Will are joined by Nico Roche. Nico was a pro-rider from 2004-2021 and is a two-time Vuelta a Espana stage winner, His long and successful career saw spells at Sky, AG2R and Saxobank, among others. The Vuelta was Nico's favourite race - he thrived in the heat - so we kick off by asking what makes that race so special, and does it get the respect it deserves? Today, Nico a top cycling pundit and gravel racer, so the conversation really gets around the houses in expert fashion, from his assessment of Pogacar to team dynamics to the evolution of training. Then things get personal, as Nico discusses what it was like being a young pro with Stephen Roche as your father. Just three days into the Giro d'Italia and, after Tadej Pogacar's sterling work over the opening weekend, it's already a done deal, isn't it? No, of course it isn't. Yes, the Slovenian has the pink jersey and has made a great start, but there's still plenty of racing to come and work to be done, according to Stephen Roche, who knows better than almost anyone what it takes to win the Giro-Tour double. Although he recognises that Pogačar is a class apart as a racer, Ireland's 1987 Triple Crown winner explains why chasing victories and time gains every day could soon lead to some serious strategic problems for the Giro leader, both within his own team and amongst the rest of the peloton. Also from the Giro, we hear from British debutant Harrison Wood, with the Cofidis rider offering his perspective on his first weekend of Grand Tour racing. Meanwhile, over in France, safety is once again the focus of attention after a horror crash during the Ronde de l'Isard under-23 stage race in the Pyrenees that resulted in one of Australia's brightest prospects being hospitalised. Our reporter at the event caught up with Trinity Racing's team director Pete Kennaugh to get his perspective on the incident and why the sport needs more volunteers to reduce the likelihood of similar occurrences in the future. We also report from the race on the latest crop of upcoming talents who are likely to be breaking into the elite ranks in the coming seasons, including a cohort from Visma | Lease a Bike and an extremely promising 18-year-old Belgian. Global Peloton's Dan Challis joins us as a guest presenter and he tells us about China's growing enthusiasm for road racing, spearheaded by the China Glory team. Dan talks to the team's French team director Lionel Marie, who reveals the team is looking to move up from the continental ranks, with the WorldTour a long-term goal. In our regular "How to Make Cycling Better" slot, Bahrain Victorious's Pello Bilbao proposes a quick fix solution for the UCI points system – simply do away with it! Stephen Roche has accomplished what only one other rider has done: won the Giro d'Italia, Tour de France and the road world championships in one year. (The other is Eddy Merckx.) This season, it seems Tadej Pogačar could match the Irish rider's feat from 1987.In this episode, Roche looks back at the challenges he faced during that historic season: the tumultuous Giro with the split within his team and the Italian public seemingly out to get him; the Tour, which was not only a physical contest but a psychological one, too; and the world championships where the rider got himself into “a fine mess” in Villach, Austria. Roche is a great storyteller. He also brings his cycling insights and analysis to the current day. Ahead of this year's Giro, which starts May 4, Pogačar is the favourite to take that Grand Tour. He's won two Tours de France in his career and, at 25, is a top contender for the 2024 edition. The hilly worlds course in Zurich looks to be a puncheur's playground—a place where the winner of Il Lombardia (three times), Liège-Bastogne-Liège (twice), the Tour of Flanders and the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal could take the rainbow jersey. Roche breaks down just what has to happen for Pogačar to make history. This episode of the Canadian Cycling Magazine Podcast is supported by MS Bike. Register and start fundraising at msbike.ca. His palmares is amongst the most unique in cycling's history. A Paris Roubaix winner, a champion at Paris-Nice, three Tour de Romandie titles and of course - in 1987, the Triple Crown which saw him join Eddy Merckx as the only men in the history of the sport to take home the Giro, Tour and World Championships in the same season. As we discovered, he's a capable raconteur off the bike too with more than a few enchanting stories of his time on the bike. In this conversation we learned how the extraordinary 1987 season came to be, and how when it appeared his opponents held the upper hand, Stephen found a way to power back. A few weeks ago, we headed to the wind tunnel at the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub to find out what the best-value aero upgrades are. Our aero guru for the day was Stephen Roche, The Bike Tailor – an expert in bike fitting, aero testing and custom builds, based in London and Brighton. Off the back of that test, we sat down for a chat with Stephen, with the aim of demystifying wind tunnel testing. As well as discussing how we set up our own test, Stephen explains why cycling brands love to do wind tunnel tests at such high speeds, how wind tunnel results translate into the real world, and much more. De Ieren hadden nooit eerder zo'n sterke wielerploeg op de been gebracht voor een Wereldkampioenschap als in 1987. Joanna Davies was five years old when she learned she was adopted. What she didn't know was that her birth mother, Lorraine, wanted to keep her. She had signed the paperwork under duress. Lorraine was one of thousands of young, unmarried women whose babies were taken from them without their consent between the 1950s and 1980s. State-sanctioned forced adoptions tore families apart. Some parents and children have been able to reconnect while others simply ran out of time. A new series of short catch-ups with Matt Stephens from the heart of the action at the 2022 Giro d'Italia. Recorded on rest day one, Matt looks back on stages one to three to reflect on Mark Cavendish's emotional sprint victory. He also enjoys some Goulash, and finds out how the Giro came to Hungary from Stephen Roche. Matt tells us what he's looking forward to in the coming stages and uses the term ‘Netflix and Chill' with innocent naivety.
We don’t like to think about where our meat comes from. And with good reason: abattoirs are gruesome places. But for Paul Draper, mincing meat on the factory floor of KR Darling Downs wasn’t just unpleasant, it was unsafe. In this episode, you’ll hear the story of how a violent workplace accident forced a reluctant litigant to take on one of the biggest employers in Toowoomba, Queensland. Remember the McMatch & Win promotion at Maccas? In 1998, the fast-food giant gave Aussies the chance to win prizes like cars, trips to Disneyland and computers by collecting stamps attached to food packaging. In the first year, the promotion went off without a hitch. But in 1999, a big problem emerged. Thousands of customers came forward to claim more prizes than were available. When Maccas refused to honour its promise, things got ugly. Restitution is produced by Deadset Studios and inspired by the book The Right Side of Wrong by Shine Lawyers co-founder Stephen Roche. Giving birth to three babies took a toll on Amanda Liddell’s body. When her gynaecologist suggested a “miracle” cure, she jumped at the chance. But after receiving a pelvic mesh implant manufactured and distributed by Ethicon and Johnson & Johnson, Amanda woke up from surgery in excruciating pain. She didn’t realise it then, but she wasn’t the only one. In this episode, you’ll hear the story behind one of the biggest class actions in Australian legal history. Nobody wants to go to court, but sometimes ordinary people are forced into extraordinary circumstances. When you’re injured at work and your boss says it’s your fault. When you’re in agonising pain and nobody believes you. When someone you trust takes advantage of you at a vulnerable age. It’s time to take a stand. Faced with injustice, the people you'll meet in this podcast refused to be silenced. These are the real-life stories behind some of the biggest court battles in the history of one of Australia’s largest personal injury law firms. Joe and Danny are concerned about the health and well-being of Phil Collins. Grandmothers are throwing down watts, which led Joe and Danny to discuss power meters and their love-hate relationship with Big (Cycling) Data. The boys are reconnecting with the sport they love, but they aren't sure what kind of riders they will be at this stage of their lives. Riding in a team car is not as much fun as you'd think, especially when Stephen Roche is tailgating you down the side of a mountain. Joe and Danny want to bring back the Peace Race and discuss former communist bike racers. All this and more as Joe and Danny begin to ride their way into the podcast life.Got a question or comment? Based in Monaco, he is the son of one of Ireland's most prolific and accomplished cyclists Stephen Roche. Nico carved his own way in the sport of cycling, with natural talent, a tenacious attitude, determination and hard work, he has had an incredible career on two wheels and enjoyed lots of success on the bike at home and abroad. In October this year Nico retired from professional cycling and is now venturing into the next chapter of his career. Since this episode was recorded Nico has been announced as a participant in this year's Dancing with the Stars in Ireland, swapping his bike for his dancing shoes and lycra for some glitter, getting his retirement from professional cycling off to a dazzling start! With such a high profile, lots of Nico's life, results and success on the bike has already been documented and aired extensively. In this episode we take a road slightly less travelled in getting to know Nico whilst also getting an insight into his life both on and off the road.
As a youngster his bike was his mode of transport to get to school and his swimming lessons, the thrill of adventure and opportunity for fun started him on a journey for life that would see him start bike racing at the tender age of 14 in 1987 when Stephen Roche won the Tour De France. A high performer in sport across boxing, running and rugby it was down the cycling path where Padraig really followed his passion for sport both as an athlete and coach. He raced The Rás in Ireland 12 times within a 30 year period, raced abroad for a period of time, holds multiple race titles and coaching accolades, is a race director for triathlon and cycling events and has recently completed an off road Everesting Challenge on the side of Croagh Patrick with some fellow cycling enthusiasts in Mayo. In addition to this he won Gaelforce in 2010 and was the All Ireland adventure race champion in 2011, the list of accolades and achievements are vast and diverse, his versatility as an athlete evident in his success in sport. In some ways, the bigger and more obscure the challenge the greater the excitement for Padraig, however in 2014, Padraig faced his biggest challenge of them all.. a fight for life. Thankfully he has come out the other side of this challenge and continues to inspire, encourage and motivate the people around him and beyond, young and old to enjoy the life long skill of cycling and all its joys and jubilations.
Last year's lockdown saw the virtual closure of our film industry for months, and no films meant no film music. But one group of composers turned the lack of outside work to their advantage. They recorded an album, inspired by life in a pandemic. Plan 9 is one of our busiest and most versatile purveyors of music for film, TV, radio, theatre and ballet. Their range has always been dazzling - they've supported indie films and shorts, they do the music for gigantic Discovery Channel documentaries, they have a long-term association with Peter Jackson - everything from King Kong to the Dwarf Song in The Hobbit. They also found time to produce the theme for RNZ's Morning Report! So what happened when they felt like doing something for themselves for a change? The answer was a new album - their first, in fact - called The Bewilderness, which they describe as "something different". Looking at their wildly diverse track-record, should we be afraid? Simon Morris talks with Plan 9 - Janet Roddick, David Donaldson and Stephen Roche. The Bewilderness is currently out on Bandcamp and very soon on Spotify and Apple Music.
Stephen joins to talk about the coaching system in the USA, the Super League nonsense, and the type of Forest he remembers as a Man United fan growing up in the 90s.
No one has shone brighter in the Race to the Sun than Sean Kelly, who won seven straight editions after Stephen Roche’s GC victory got the wheels turning for Ireland in 1981. Felix Lowe recalls Kelly’s formidable streak, after speaking to the man who dominated the likes of Bernard Hinault and Laurent Fignon during a golden age for French cycling.Re-Cycle is narrated by Graham Willgoss and produced by Pete Burton.Sponsored by Zwift, where Fun is Fast! Nerves of steel from the Irish underdogs saw Stephen Roche ride to the Rainbow Jersey at the 1987 World Championships, becoming only the second man in history after Eddy Merckx to wear it after winning the Giro d'Italia and Tour de France. But he got a big helping hand from Sean Kelly.Re-Cycle is written by Felix Lowe, narrated by Graham Willgoss and produced by Pete Burton. This episode was edited by Ola Fisayo. The Col d'Èze is not the hardest climb in the world. It's not particularly long, or steep, but it is steeped in cycling's history because for many years it was the final battleground for Paris-Nice. The race used to conclude with a Sunday afternoon time trial on the hill and in the 1980s the Irish dominated, with Stephen Roche and Sean Kelly sharing the victories between 1981 and 1989. In this episode, we hear from Kelly, who also gives Lionel some tips on how to ride the hill. And, with the Tour starting in the south east of France for the first time since 2009, we look back at the race with Bradley Wiggins, who made his breakthrough as a grand tour challenger that summer. Every year, the Giro d'Italia shows off the best countryside Italy has to offer. It's not to say that France and Spain are not blessed with great scenery but Italy seems to provide the most consistently beautiful backdrop for the racing. The Giro's slogan – the toughest race in the most beautiful place – might have a touch of hype but it's probably fair to say it is the most photogenic of the three grand tours. In this episode of Our Giro, Richard Moore, Lionel Birnie and Daniel Friebe look at the visual aspect of the Giro. We meet legendary photographer Graham Watson, who witnessed the drama of the Giro more more than three decades before retiring to New Zealand. Graham explains why the Giro was his favourite race to photograph and watch and looks back at some of the most memorable moments – from the duel between Stephen Roche and Roberto Visentini in 1987, to Marco Pantani's brilliance in 1998 and downfall in 99, to Alberto Contador coming straight from the beach to win a decade later. We also talk Italy's sense of style on and off the bike with Sir Paul Smith, who designed the maglia rosa in 2013, and Andy Storey, who runs through some of the most memorable Italian jerseys. Plus author and cultural historian Kassia St Clair talks about the power and charm of the colour pink. There's also the latest rider added to Ciro Scognamiglio's increasingly eclectic Giro Dream Team and François Thomazeau plays us out with La Vie En Rose. The Cycling Podcast is supported by iwoca and Science In Sport. LINKS You can check out some of Graham Watson's finest photographs on his website (https://www.grahamwatson.com/) . You can also buy his books, prints and posters. Andy Storey's book on the history of cycling jerseys is called The Art of the Jersey. You can buy some great retro remakes at prendas.co.uk (https://www.prendas.co.uk/) Kassia St Clair's book is called The Secret Lives of Colour. COMING TOMORROW We meet the only American to win the Giro, Andy Hampsten. This is the first of a two-part interview with the 1988 champion. In part one, we talk about his breakthrough stage win during the 1985 race. COPPA ITALIA OF CYCLING JERSEYS What is the best-looking Italian cycling jersey of all-time? You decide. Our Giro arrives in Sicily and Richard Moore, Lionel Birnie and Daniel Friebe discuss the race’s rich history of controversy, tactical ruthlessness and downright cheating. From police raids to outlandish excuses for positive doping tests to Richard’s shocking wine-tasting notes, we cover it all. We talk about Eddy Merckx’s positive test at Savona in 1969, the day a rampant Marco Pantani was stopped in his tracks and kicked out of the race, the stage that pushed the legendary race director Vincenzo Torriani to the limit, and the internal rivalry between Carerra teammates Roberto Visentini (the defending champion) and Stephen Roche in 1987. Plus there’s arguably the first social media controversy. Having visited Sicily with the Giro twice in recent years, our coverage of the mafia has been perhaps superficial so we get the lowdown on the organised crime network from an expert, author and historian John Dickie. And Lionel cooks a delightful summery dish of pasta alla norma with the expert guidance of award-winning food writer Felicity Cloake. The Cycling Podcast is supported by iwoca and Science In Sport. It's a Giro d'Italia special this month, as presenter Ian Parkinson meets cycling legend Stephen Roche - winner of the Giro, Tour De France and World Championships in one memorable year. He talks about the famous duel in the 1987 Giro with teammate Roberto Visentini, which led to the "tifosi" turning against him and him fearing for his life. He also talks about THAT Phil Liggett commentary from the 1987 Tour De France. Yes, it's Roche, it really is Stephen Roche. Plus, Rouleur Editor Ian Cleverly has the Rouleur competition and looks suitably horrified at the other Ian's awful Italian accent. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
