Stress. It hits us all, whether we're ready or not. But what if you could actually use stress to move forward? In this episode, Kari Schneider reveals the TACK Stress Recovery Framework, a proactive tool for mastering stress before it masters you. Inspired by sailing, TACK shows you how to "tack" into the wind of stress and steer your way through. It's a 4-step approach that works before, during, and after life's biggest stressors: Timing: Learn when to step back or act to prevent burnout. Awareness: Tune into your stress triggers before they overwhelm you. Control: Focus on what you can change and release what you can't. Kindness: Give yourself grace—yes, even in stressful moments. Kari shares personal experiences—from navigating 18-hour road trips, moving homes, family chaos, and big business changes—proving that stress doesn't have to break you. In fact, with TACK, it can be the wind beneath your sails. Key Takeaway: Don't let stress control your life. Instead, tack through it and use it to your advantage. Sign up here! I can't wait to see you there! Thanks for being here today and being part of our community. Enjoy today's episode and the beautiful poem by Mario de Andrade (San Paolo 1893–1945) Love, Dani Here's the poem: I counted my years and found that I have less time to live from here on than I have lived up to now. I feel like that child who won a packet of sweets: he ate the first with pleasure, but when he realized that there were few left, he began to enjoy them intensely. I no longer have time for endless meetings where statutes, rules, procedures and internal regulations are discussed, knowing that nothing will be achieved. I no longer have time to support the absurd people who, despite their chronological age, haven't grown up. My time is too short: I want the essence, my soul is in a hurry. I don't have many sweets in the package anymore. I want to live next to human people, very human, who know how to laugh at their mistakes, and who are not inflated by their triumphs, and who take on their responsibilities. Thus human dignity is defended and we move towards truth and honesty. It is the essential that makes life worth living. I want to surround myself with people who know how to touch hearts, people who have been taught by the hard blows of life to grow with gentle touches of the soul. Yes, I'm in a hurry, I'm in a hurry to live with the intensity that only maturity can give. I don't intend to waste any of the leftover sweets. I am sure they will be delicious, much more than what I have eaten so far. My goal is to reach the end satisfied and at peace with my loved ones and my conscience. We have two lives. And the second begins when you realize you only have one.

Sallie Fraenkel is the founder of Mind Body Spirit Network (MBSN), Dr. Dan Diamond is the founder of NogginStorms, and Jon Berghoff is the Co-Founder and CEO of XCHANGE. Obviously, they're all running organizations created to push positive change into the world, but there's a clearer link: all three of them are members of the Living Well From Within initiative. Living Well From Within is the work of Dr. Daniel Friedland who founded the cause to convene leading influencers to align in order to elevate humanity through conscious leadership and the values of conscious capitalism. In this episode, we take turns speaking to all of them, including Dr. Friedland, himself, who was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in late 2020. His diagnosis was the catalyst that sparked a new level of growth and awakening in his work. As well as the topics of conscious capitalism and, of course, living well from within, we all discuss the incredible legacy Dr. Friedland will leave behind and the value of striving to use our lives for the betterment of the world. The level of your thinking dictates the level of your life! You have trained yourself, probably unconsciously, to think the way you think. If that thinking is not creating the results you want then you need to strategically train your brain to think differently. Far too few of us are purposeful about training our brains. How many of you have a system and a plan to train the level of your thinking? Probably not many. And yet thinking dictates our lives. So it’s critical that we make this a priority! In this episode we talk about setting up a thought training system and plan and give you specific tools to train your brain and level up your thinking. You can begin right away by asking yourself how you want to think about life, about your past, about your present, about your future, about your family, about yourself, etc.
There are those who shine under the limelight and those who crumble under the pressure. That made us question, “do you actually thrive under pressure?” What makes the two kinds of people different? How can you perform at a high level for a prolonged period of time? On this episode of the Not as Advertised Podcast, we explore those questions, the topics of work pressure, the Yerkes-Dodson Law and share some tips on self-care.
In this episode that I share I actually recorded it on my Tiffany Mika Podcast show in relation how to deal with anxiety in your sport. But the strategies I share you can apply to life. Even though the references about sport, I want you to be thinking about how they can apply to you in your life. When we feel anxious about our sports performance it affects everything we do and how we feel. I was watching a segment on 60 minutes recently and the reporter said that anxiety affects one in every four people. That's a troubling statistic. What is anxiety? Anxiety is characterized by a negative emotional state such as nervousness, worry and apprehension. Even though anxiety can be seen as a negative emotional state it does not necessarily mean that you will perform badly in your sport. Some athletes thrive under pressure they feel. And that's what we want to do, we want to Thrive Under Pressure not Dive Under Pressure. In this episode we craft three strategies to help you deal with anxiety in your sport. Breathing Mantra One Shot At A Time Creating Routines These are explained in much greater depth in this episode. Get out your notebook, take notes and starting crafting these three strategies to help you deal with anxiety in your sport. Have an absolutely awesome day and remember, Dream Big, Believe In You & Go After Your Dreams. To your abundance, Tiffany Mika P.S. I know that you are going to relate to today's guest SO MUCH, and not because you're an elite athlete like her, but because you've probably dealt with, or are dealing with a lot of the same internal battles that she has. Today, we're hanging out with Victoria Garrick, who is a senior volleyball star at The University of Southern California. Not only is she is a four-year division I starter, team captain, two-time NCAA elite eight contender, and 2015 PAC-12 champion-- aka a total badass on the court, she is also an advocate for mental health and body image struggles in athletes and young women all over the world. Through her own struggles with depression, disordered eating, and body image, she has learned how to rise up and reach her goals no matter what it takes. Victoria is even a TEDx speaker, and her talk “Athletes and Mental Health: The Hidden Opponent” has led to tons of media exposure and opportunities for her to shed light on the internal battles that many athletes, and actually young adults in general, are facing. Whether you are an elite athlete or just workout for fun, I know that you'll relate so much to Victoria's stories and wisdom around chasing goals, perseverance, overcoming bad body image, and picking yourself up when it feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders. Martin Grunburg is the designer/inventor of Habit Factor® as well as the author of the international bestselling book sharing the same name. He has presented at TEDx in the United Arab Emirates, and his work has been featured in the world's most popular productivity blogs such as Lifehacker.com and Mashable.com. Prior to developing and authoring The Habit Factor, Martin has been a partner in C3 Networx, formerly Home2Office Computing Solutions, Inc. As founder/COO, he's been nominated twice for the Entrepreneur of the Year award and has twice led his team to win the Better Business Bureau Award for Marketplace Ethics. Favorite Success Quote “If you want to find the secret of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration”~Nikola Tesla Key Points 1. Pressure = Force/Area This basic scientific formula can actually offer incredible insights into the world of success and productivity. For examples Parkinson's Principle, which states that the pressure and speed of completion of a task will increase as the timeline decreases can be derived from this formula. Pressure (the importance of a project and how much effort you will put into it) is equal to force (the difficulty of the task) divided by area (the amount of time you have to complete a task) For example, if I tell you that you have to complete a perfectly written 3,000 word article in the next 3 months or else you will lose all of your financial assets ….how much pressure would you feel? Despite the large financial cost, you would likely feel decidedly unperturbed. Now what if I said that you have 3 hours? You would move heaven and earth to get that article done! This is actually a very powerful principle that you can leverage in your life to achieve results at a more rapid pace. By creating more impending deadlines and higher stakes, you will be forced to become more creative, find time to pursue your goals, and actually get the work done because of this positive pressure. 2. Pressure is a Neutral Tool There has been significant research done on the affects of pressure on the human mind and body over the past years, and what Martin has found is that, despite what popular science says, pressure is neither good nor bad, it is merely a tool. If unmanaged and unchecked, pressure can build up and cause all sorts of issues, like many other stressors. However, if used strategically to increase the efficiency with which tasks are completed and the speed of implementation, pressure can be a fantastic tool for massive productivity and results. So in the end, pressure, like so many other things, is neutral. It is neither good nor bad. It is simply how you use it. 3. Pressure Creates Peace of Mind Exposing yourself to intentional pressure can help create confidence, and peace of mind during stressful situations. The scientific formula for equilibrium is the equal offset of pressure. Navy SEALs go through thousands of hours and years of training before they enter into combat so that when the actual bullets are flying, and bombs are going off, they are already used to the pressure of the environment and able to respond with calm, swift confidence. By properly planning, preparing, and practicing for any given situation, you increase your chances of success dramatically once you are actually under the pressure of game day. It's like the old saying “The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in war.”
When the end of the month is quickly approaching and it's absolutely crucial that you show up, sell deals and finish strong...you have to know HOW. This week we discuss 3 things you must do to thrive under pressure and come out on top no matter what the stakes are and how you may be feeling. When confronted with intense pressure in business or in life, how do you not only stay engaged, but come out stronger than before? It comes down to your mindset. In this episode, Dr. Daniel Friedland interviews Dr. Dan Diamond, keynote speaker, coach and author of the book, Beyond Resilience. Dan helps leaders in business and healthcare thrive while under intense stress so they can perform under pressure to make a positive impact on others. For 30 years, in addition to his family medical practice, Dan has been a first responder to some of the most catastrophic global disasters, such as Hurricane Katrina and the earthquake in Haiti. Listen in as Dr. Dan shares with Dr. Danny powerful stories from his experience as the Director of the Mass Casualty Triage Unit at the New Orleans Convention Center during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina about how your mindset determines your ability to thrive while under intense stress. Dan reveals four mindsets in his Thriver Mindset Matrix which determine whether you are a Powerless Taker (Victim), Powerful Taker (Controller), Powerless Taker (Bystander) or Powerful Giver (Thriver). He further shares how his simple quadrant can be used as a tool to help you become aware of your unconscious default tendencies and proactively shift to become a powerful giver and inspire that shift in others too.
