It's no secret that the past three years have presented fitness clubs with unseen challenges requiring immense tenacity to power through. But TITLE Boxing, the leading authentic heavy bag boxing club, has risen above the challenges and is now stronger than ever. The brand offers a workout designed to build your fitness, control your breathing, and clear your mind, with more than 145 locations and a proven franchise model that helps franchisees unleash their entrepreneurial spirit. To find out more about the concept, we decided to catch up with Felicia Alexander, CRO of BoxUnion and TITLE Boxing Club,  whose love of fitness started at a very young age. Felicia found her passion for boxing when she was only 16 years old, having lost her father to a sudden heart attack. Channeling the pain, Felicia put on the gloves and felt the inner power she never knew she had. She went on to have a successful career as a sales and marketing executive for companies like Sun Microsystems, Sony, Mattel, and Leaf Group. Together with her business partner, Todd Wadler, they launched BoxUnion back in 2017. Now, having been acquired by BoxUnion in early 2021, TITLE Boxing has been heavily investing in infrastructure and the refinement of operations to support franchisees. Join us on this episode of the Global Franchise Podcast as Felicia talks about exploring a gap in the market, improving members' experience, and most importantly, knocking out the mental health stigma. This week I interviewed Todd Wadler, CEO of Box Union and Title Boxing Club, and Felicia Alexander CRO of Box Union and Title Boxing Club, and it was clear that their partnership plays on both of their strengths. This pair is bold and thoughtful, which you'll hear throughout the episode. And if you're wondering how you missed that Box Union, which had three locations before the pandemic, acquired Title Boxing Club, you'll hear all about it in the episode. Luckily, or because Todd had the foresight that Box Union needed to raise as much money as possible, Box Union was extremely well capitalized before the pandemic. So, when opportunity came knocking, they were ready to acquire it. And overnight, they were the largest boxing brand in the United States. More on that from Club Industry here. There's a saying in boxing that the punch you don't see coming is the one that knocks you out - I think we can safely say no one saw that gigantic move coming. They also give incredible guidance for leading a team that I took notes on during our interview, because I never want to forget it. So, if you hear a little clickity clack when they're explaining their playbook on culture that's why. You'll hear more on this later, but be ready to open the notes app on your phone to write down "Freedom within a framework," having a "Growth mindset" and the idea of "we not me." We also spend some time talking about an organization that is close to my family's heart: Rock Steady Boxing, a boxing program that was created to provide a uniquely effective form of physical exercise to people who are living with Parkinson's Disease. My father-in-law was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in the past few years, and he found his way to Rock Steady Boxing, which helps him in innumerable ways. One tangible way Rock Steady Boxing helps folks with Parkinson's, according to The New York Times is this: “Boxing's varied and high-intensity workouts offer a blend of strength and cardiovascular conditioning that improves agility, coordination and balance, and which may be especially beneficial for people with neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease.”Felicia recently joined the board at Rock Steady Boxing and is helping to bring the organization to even more locations.Resources:Box UnionBox Union on InstagramTitle Boxing ClubTitle Boxing Club on InstagramMore on Box Union's acquisition of Title Boxing ClubRock Steady BoxingThe New York Times, For Some Parkinson's Patients, Boxing Can Be TherapyAnd because we LOVE giving listeners a little something special, you can get a totally free month of membership to Title Boxing Club OnDemand. Weston and Tommy break down the potential 30 man roster for the Royals. Who is a lock to make the squad, who is on the bubble, and what are the strengths and weaknesses of this Royals squad? (37:36) Our #WichitaWhiparound is all about updates in the world of Wichita sports. We discuss the NBC World Series on as scheduled, but this year in two different venues: Eck Stadium at Wichita State and Hobert-Detter Stadium in Hutchinson from August 3-10. The Wichita Open also announced their Korn Ferry Tour stop in September will go on as scheduled, albeit without spectators in attendance. The MIAA, the conference that Wichita's Newman University is in will be delaying fall sports competition until late September and the American Conference, which impacts Wichita State University has made the same decision. Weston and Tommy break all of this down and try to make sense of all the changes. (46:27) It's time to talk high school sports and specifically football. What's the plan for Kansas high schools, especially now that the Kansas State Board of Education has rejected Governor Laura Kelly's executive order to delay the start of school (and sports) until after Labor Day? Athlete, coach, trainer, and most importantly a mentor... DJ Dominguez started his sports career as early as he can remember. Sports has led him to success on and off the fields, courts, and boxing ring. At the age of 7, he started competing at the amateur level of boxing. He would focus on training every day in addition to practicing football, basketball, and baseball. He competed at the highest level obtaining two golden glove championships, finalist in two silver glove championships, and finishing with a record of 30-2, while only losing in the nationals. DJ ended his amateur career at the age of 12 and began to focus on football and basketball. One thing he took away from boxing was that he was able to translate boxing tools into amplifying his career in other sports. As a pitcher, quarterback, and point guard, he had to not only utilize the physical aspects he learned, but the phycological part of competing.DJ had the talent to achieve success at the college level for any of his sports, but he had obstacles to deal with while becoming a young man. DJ ended up moving out of town forcollege where he was pretty much throwing away his opportunity to become a collegiate/professional athlete. Through certain circumstances he was able to move back home and focus on getting back in shape and competing again. He decided to get really serious about basketball, which lead him to many rewards in life and believes basketball to have helped him get to where he is today. In 2019, DJ was referred by a friend to Lake Oswego’s head basketball coach for a jobcoaching youth basketball. This would be his first-year coaching for this program and a youth team. He took this team who did not have success the prior year and molded them into champions. It was a complete turn around and they ended as the best team in their league.DJ is currently the General Manager for “TITLE BOXING CLUB” but also continues totrain athletes in strength and conditioning and building skills in their desired sports. His athletes vary from different age groups and sports from basketball, baseball, and football. Happy 4th of July KOGpod'ers...we're back for another edition of Keeper of the Games with Weston Mills and Tommy Castor! Special thanks to our sponsor Title Boxing Club at 21st and Rock Road in the Shops at Tallgrass! Let's get right into it: (04:45) The guys start the show by discussing the breaking news that Minor League Baseball has cancelled their entire season, thus cancelling the inaugural season for the Wichita Wind Surge at the brand new Riverfront Stadium in downtown Wichita. The guys discuss the disappointment, plus the negative impact this will have on the city of Wichita and whether or not the fighting between MLB and the Players Union that led to delays to start the Major League season led to the Minors being cancelled. (22:10) It's a story that isn't pleasant to discuss, but Tommy and Weston tackle the issue at Kansas State University and the racist and offensive social media post that has the university in the national spotlight. What should the university do about the student? Weston puts on his attorney cap to give his opinion. How about the show of solidarity with all the student athletes at K-State? Is there a bigger problem going on in Manhattan? (43:50) Cam Newton is now a Patriot. Simply asked...will the Patriots be a threat to the Chiefs in the AFC? Weston and Tommy discuss (the short answer is: No.) (46:32) Our #WichitaWhiparound is all about the rescheduled Wichita Open in September. The Wichita Business Journal wrote an article about new financial ambassadors for the tournament and Tommy and Weston talk all about how top notch the tournament is and how exciting it is that in the midst of negative sports stories, something positive continues with the golf tournament in the ICT. (53:19) In honor of the 4th of July this weekend, the guys decided to do a ranking...but patriotic sporting events is too cliche, so instead they rank Top Patriotic Moments in Sports Movies. There are some classics on this list, you won't want to miss this segment. (03:59) The latest news in the ongoing saga between Major League Baseball and the Players Union. Will there or will there not be baseball in 2020...and what are the ramifications? The guys debate. (19:23) Several Kansas State student athletes (and some confirmed to be football players) have tested positive for COVID-19. Tommy and Weston discuss how programs and teams can manage these outbreaks as the months go on in sports. (30:38) Tommy and Weston debate the fallout of OSU football coach Mike Gundy wearing a One America News Network t-shirt and the outcry from his players. What does this mean for his job and what does this mean for him leading young men in the future? (43:19) The Stillwater Stars are playing in the TBT event this summer but while they are mainly an alumni team from Oklahoma State basketball, they did add a couple of Jayhawks. The guys discuss. (46:30) Shoutout to Topeka native and KU grad Gary Woodland on the 1 year anniversary of him winning the U.S. Open golf tournament in 2019. Gary also shed 25 pounds during quarantine and Tommy and Weston discuss how many more majors Gary might win during his career. (50:36) Our #WichitaWhiparound focuses on baseball in Wichita as the Sunflower Collegiate League is now in full swing at Eck Stadium, albeit with strict COVID-19 protocols in place. Several WSU baseball players are represented on the various area teams playing in this league. (54:16) Our #FinallyFunny focuses on the return of the NBA and the Player's Hotline to report violations in the quarantine. Let's get into a new episode of KOGpod, sponsored by Title Boxing Club at 21st and Rock Rd in the Shops @ Tallgrass! On this monumental 20th episode of the show, Tommy Castor and Weston Mills dive into the following: (03:50) We start off the show by diving into the latest updates with the University of Kansas...former FB coach David Beaty and the university have settled their legal dispute. The guys debate the grade that Athletic Director Jeff Long deserves for his handling of the situation. Also, did the NCAA set a bad precedent with its punishment for the Oklahoma State Cowboys Level I violation and does that bode poorly for the Jayhawks with their investigation? Finally on this topic, KU has requested that its football and basketball violations be separated into different cases before the NCAA Committee on Infractions and the independent board. (38:52) Stadium's Jeff Goodman and Brett McMurphy has ranked the Big 12's ten athletic directors based on their collective football and basketball hires. Joe Castiglione at OU is #1, but a surprising name at #2, KSU's Gene Taylor. KU's Jeff Long comes in 4th. The guys debate the ranking. (45:39) The MLB Draft is underway at the time of this recording, and the Miami Marlins have selected pitcher Max Meyer from the University of Minnesota. Could we be seeing him as a member of the Wichita Wind Surge? Also, the Kansas City Royals with the 4th pick selected Asa Lacy, a lefty pitcher from Texas A&M. Some had him projected as the #1 overall pick, but he fell to #4 with the Royals. (50:57) Our #WichitaWhiparound focuses on two topics. 1) TBT (The Basketball Tournament) picked its one quarantined site for the tournament this summer and it isn't Wichita, but it is Columbus, OH. Also, Wichita State's alumni team, the Aftershocks, won't be playing this year. 2) Kansas State University announced it would like to schedule future basketball games at Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, as soon as the 2021 season. (56:41) Our #FinallyFunny is simply...Conor McGregor. Retired. Again. 3rd time in 4 years. Hilarious. That's the 20th Episode of Keeper of the Games. The guys are back for a new episode of Keeper of the Games, sponsored by Title Boxing Club at 21st and Rock Rd in Wichita! In this week's episode, Weston Mills and Tommy Castor tackle the following: (02:36) The guys are joined by former Kansas State Wildcats running back/defensive back Logan Dold to discuss what it was like to play for the legendary Bill Snyder, plus give his insight on what Chris Klieman and the Wildcats have to look forward to for the 2020 football season. (23:09) There is still no agreement between the owners and the players about a 2020 Major League Baseball season, but the Kansas City Royals have committed to not only retaining all their minor league players, but also compensating them through the end of the season. Good stuff for the Royals. (35:59) Pro Football Focus released their Top 50 Players in the NFL for the 2020 season and Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is #2, right behind Aaron Donald. There are 5 Chiefs in the Top 25. The guys discuss. (42:42) #WichitaWhiparound The 2020 Class for the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame has been announced and it includes former WSU baseball player Casey Blake, former Wichita standout basketball player Adrian Griffin and more like Drew Gooden, Jordy Nelson and Darren Sproles. Brooke Budke, Vice President of Marketing at TITLE Boxing Club — a fitness club with 60,000 members in nearly 200 locations and the mission of providing the best hour of someone’s day— believes in that power. She fulfilled her own goal to move from working in sterling silver jewelry to being the director of marketing for a fitness brand by her 30th birthday—exactly on her 30th birthday. And she hasn’t stopped there. Brooke joins Socialfly Co-Founder Courtney Spritzer for a conversation about building her business and career, and describes her journey to success. Brooke shares why she holds such pride from impacting the brand’s core values and mission, and the goal to help one million people improve quality of life; why it matters to include more people in research than you think you need to; the daunting nature of franchising and great ideas that can result; the impact of cartwheels, the power of vision with her word of the year; the power of note taking; a breathtaking wedding story; and why discovering what kind of a car you would be—if you were a car—is so useful. Plus, a surprise!

That is how Bryan Scott has always chosen to look at life. Focusing on the task at hand and how to achieve his goals, Bryan went from collegiate to professional football player and is now a franchise owner of Title Boxing. With a passion for helping people and making the most out of every single day he has the opportunity to be on this earth, Bryan internalizes his tenant: “I don’t like to have bad days. You can have bad moments, but don’t let those turn into bad days. Have your moment, then set it down and keep pushing.” As Bryan says further, “Iron sharpens iron and happy bounces off happy,” and his positive attitude certainly is infectious.   Listening in to Bryan’s story is sure to brighten up your week, and I hope you all enjoy my interview with Bryan Scott.   For more on Bryan, you can connect with him on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. GarageBand a bit so hopefully just keeps getting better but let’s get into it today we are going to talk about. [1:21] What’s the keyword boxing franchise that’s right so when someone types. Franchise they’re typically looking for the purchase of franchise because if you’re looking to go. You know to boxing gym you probably wouldn’t you wouldn’t use that word so just something to to keep mine and we have for ads that appeared at the top in the first. Well first of all there’s a hundred and ten searches per month and average cost-per-click is $2.20. The first ad is 9 round Fitness in. Research for boxing franchise first thing I see here is there brand name which. [2:17] My favorite because it doesn’t say right away that I mean test Fitness franchise but it just doesn’t say. [2:28] Boxing franchise you know up front and center even though it’s kind of implied by the 9round brand name and everything even there are URL says Fitness franchises. Alt this is among fast growing in franchise 500 only franchise for under 85 K 85,000. So they have some colored extensions is low overhead easy startup ongoing training and support spray standard. Or franchise and then have some sitelinks that’s a step to owning. Take Hour Fitness tour meet the 9round team and request more info so your phone number is well overall it’s not a turtle at I’d like to see the headline be. A little better really still lined with with the search and you know they can they can sell themselves a little later on in the in the process I believe. Is living on next we have title franchise. And they’re a little better job with the headline it says open a boxing franchise start your own Title Boxing Club so I think that’s a great kind of. Title and call Action all all-in-one and they’re using like they’re using extended. Text Dad’s cuz there’s two headlines and then it says in for the URL his title franchise.com / gym franchises. Does get the franchise fax today it seems a little little week for description what I mean they should...
