Text your questions or comments to us.Welcome to today's episode of TDMP, where we're ripping apart the BS you've been hiding behind. For far too long, you've been playing a role—the "good guy," the "perfect image," the “I've got it all together” mask. But let's be honest: none of that is who you really are. It's a lie. It's time to burn that fake man to the ground and confront the real you, the one you've been hiding from for years. The false self is the mask you wear to fit in, gain approval, or avoid rejection. It's the persona you've built out of fear, insecurity, and societal bullshit. But here's the truth: if you're hiding behind this mask, you're not living—you're pretending. You're playing a role. And that false self... It's killing your potential, your happiness, and your connections. In this episode, we're tearing down the lies and exposing the psychological toll of living as someone you're not. If you're ready to drop the act and step into your real power, this one's for you.QUESTIONS TO IDENTIFY YOUR FALSE SELFGOD, What/Who has delivered the messages and materials that have formed the beliefs of my heart?JESUS, What has happened to me throughout my life that caused a loss of heart?HOLY SPIRIT, Who has inflicted hurt, pain, guilt, shame on me? Proposition #1: The Church Of Jesus Christ Embraces Both Jews And Gentiles As Part Of The Messianic Kingdom. The Messianic Kingdom Includes Jewish And Gentile Believers As Citizens On An Equal Basis. Was Abraham a Jew? No. “The term Jew is a derivative of Judah the fourth son of Jacob and the dominant last surviving tribe of Israel. The Hebrew term meant “man of Judah,” and that term is first used in the Bible in 2 Kings 16:6. After the exile the term Jew came to be used for anyone descended from these people regardless of other considerations. Mordecai is identified as both a Jew and a descendant of Benjamin in Esther 2:5.” Oxford Companion To The Bible. 5: Was God's promises of a land, a seed, and a blessing given to Abraham alone? Was it Abraham that was called and no other? Initially it was given to Abraham, then extended to Issac and Jacob. Ultimately the blessing was connected to Christ who came to bring the two, both Jew and Gentile together. 6: Exactly who is "Abraham's seed"? Physically, anyone descended from him genetically. This would include some of the Arab nations. Spiritually, or redemptively, it is anyone who has believed in Abraham's seed, Jesus Christ. This again undermines the idea of a distinction between Jew and Gentile. 7: From the beginning, could a Gentile become a Jew? Yes. This required undergoing circumcision and adopting adherence to the Law. With the New Covenant eliminating the need to convert to Judaism, becoming aJew to find God's favor was no longer necessary. 8: By the Exile, had Abraham's descendants become "Not My People"? Hosea 1:8-9 - When she had weaned No Mercy, she conceived and bore a son. 9 And the Lord said, "Call his name Not My People, for you are not my people, and I am not your God." 9: What/Who is the fallen tent in Amos 9:11? This was the Davidic kingdom which had been corrupted and ruined by sin. Because God promised David a ruling heir in perpetuity that Kingdom would need to be rebuilt. This is done through Christ who in His rule united Jews and Gentiles as seen in James's quotation of this verse in Acts 15. 10: Did Jesus indicate that the Kingdom would be taken from the Jews in Matt. 21:43? (Romans 11:20-21) He did based on their failure to produce fruits in keeping with their calling within the Kingdom as seen in verses 33-41. In Romans Paul refers to this action on God's part as breaking off the natural branches so that the Gentiles could be grafted in. 11: Pastor, what is Replacement Theology? #Israel #jew #gentile #christian #rapture #endtimes #theology #muslim #eschatology #Abraham #seed #God
Shalom Everyone, In This teaching we will talk about the day of atonements. We will address things like: What is Atonement? What/Who is Atonement for? Who Can Do the Service? What does the Avodah Look Like? Why Do We Fast? in the process we will have a deeper understanding of what Yeshua did for us when He provided atonement.

Proposition #1: The Church Of Jesus Christ Embraces Both Jews And Gentiles As Part Of The Messianic Kingdom. The Messianic Kingdom Includes Jewish And Gentile Believers As Citizens On An Equal Basis. 1: How do we define the Messianic Kingdom? Is it primarily a spiritual realm, a future earthly kingdom, or a combination of both? Currently it is primarily a spiritual realm though touching on natural, earthly things. The future kingdom will be characterized by features of both. 2: What model(s) of church leadership and worship best reflect the unity of Jews and Gentiles? Since we have been made one in Christ there should be no distinct difference or uniqueness other than those elements which are characteristic of earthly cultures. For example, clothing styles, length of service, music styles etc. The worship should center on Christ as redeemer and the leadership should strive to keep that central rather than ethnic heritage. 3: How do different eschatological perspectives (premillennialism, amillennialism, postmillennialism) influence the understanding of the Church's relationship to the Kingdom of God? Does this Proposition support or challenge specific eschatological views? It does challenge eschatological views when there is a distinction made between Israel and the church. Premillennialism typically sees the two as separate entities in spite of what Christ is said to have done. “Dispensationalism one variety of premillennialism has a commitment to a literal interpretation of prophetic scripture resulting in three well known tenants. [1] A distinction between the prophecies made about Israel in the Old Testament and the church in the New Testament must be maintained.” (Progressive dispensationalists agree on this point. Four Views on the Book of Revelation. Dispensationalists typically see the Jews/Israel as a separate set of God's people distinct throughout the present and the future or at least till the end of the millennium with God having a separate plan for both. Conversely Scripture always portrays the two as being united in Christ as one people. Amillennialists take a view much more consistent with proposition 1. 4: Was Abraham a Jew? 5: Was God's promises of a land, a seed, and a blessing given to Abraham alone? Was it Abraham that was called and no other? 6: Exactly who is "Abraham's seed"? 7: From the beginning, could a Gentile become a Jew? 8: By the Exile, had Abraham's descendants become "Not My People"? Hosea 1:8-9 9: What/Who is the fallen tent in Amos 9:11? 10: Did Jesus indicate that the Kingdom would be taken from the Jews in Matt. 21:43? (Romans 11:20-21) 11: Pastor, what is Replacement Theology? 12: How does this quote and these passages below fit into the entire narrative of redemptive history? "The Greek does not have to become a Jew. Rather both enter into a new condition. His aim is not to bring Greek believers into being as different kinds of Jews but rather to create both anew. Rightly he uses the term create rather than change to point out the great effect of what God has done." John Chrysostom (12: How do these passages fit into the entire narrative of redemptive history?) 13: How do they contribute to understanding God's plan for redemption and the inclusion of all people? . November 19, 2023 - Sunday AM Bible Class Summary of last week's class: Revelation 20 describes the complete defeat of Satan. Just like the beast and false prophet (cf. 19:20-21) he is bound and overthrown by the Lord. John uses symbolic terminology to describe his ruin, but the message is clear: Rome will be destroyed and so will the Devil who used Rome to torment the people of God (20:1-3). Satan will be released after some time to continue to do his wicked work in the world but the final result for him will be the same. John describes the martyred saints as reigning victoriously with Jesus and enjoying the blessings of the first resurrection as they look forward to the second and final resurrection (20:4-6). Though Satan will try other things in the future with other nations and systems he will meet the same fate (Rev. 20:7-10). John closes the chapter with a judgment scene. While some view this as a description of the final judgment I believe it's best to view it as a picture of the judgment/defeat of Rome and those who were aligned with her in the first century (20:11-15). Questions from Revelation 21: What is meant by the new heaven and new earth that John saw (21:1)? Notice how the phrase is used elsewhere in the Bible (see Isaiah 65:17, 66:22; 2 Peter 3:13). Where does the new city come from (21:2)? What will God do for those who are inhabitants of the new city (21:3-4)? What does this mean? What/Who does the angel promise to show John (21:9)? What does John see (21:10-21)? What does it sound like John is describing in 21:15-21? List the different metaphors John uses to describe what he sees in this chapter. How does God describe his activity in 21:5? Why will the new city have no need for the sun or moon to shine (21:22-23)? In what way do the nations walk in the light provided by the city (21:24)? Why are the gates of the city never shut (21:25)? Who is John saying will not be able to enter the city based on what we've read in chapter 20 (21:27)? Duration 46:09

Bible Study teaching from II Thes. 1:11-12 as the source text. See notes below and link to google doc. Google doc link: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1a1R8sn7bpSuyh9pfHMPvolLJUMxt1kCKsmP7_fqo6iw/edit?usp=sharing Notes: June 11, 2023 by: Matt Monk-”The World is Redeemed, Don't We Experience It?” Source Text: II Thes. 1:11-12 (from the English Standard Version). 11 To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, 12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ Two Big Ideas: We live in a redeemed world, but people (us) fail to see/believe it is so. Christ is in us, giving us the power and authority to take care of #1. Questions for Application to Consider and to Pray About: How can I? -Walk in a manner worthy of my calling and Christ's calling? -Better see Christ in me and me in Him? ** “It's not about what you can do for God, but what God has done for you.” Big Idea #1: We live in a redeemed world, but people (us) fail to see or believe it is so. -Genesis 3: What/Who does God curse after the fall? -II Thes. 1:10: when he comes on that day to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed (ESV) -According to v. 10, where is Christ and what is His plan to redeem the world? -Romans 5:12, 18-19: 12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—18 Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. 19 For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man's obedience the many will be made righteous. -If Christ dealt with sin once and for all on the cross…why do we still struggle? **II Thes. 1:11: What gives us the power for good works and faith? What happens if we attempt to redeem things but do it from the wrong source? Rom. 1:20-21-20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Big Idea #2: Christ is in us, giving us the power and authority to take care of #1. **II Thes. 1:12, Where/How is Christ glorified?... John 17:4-5, 21-23: 4 I glorified you on earth, having accomplished the work that you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed. 21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, 23 I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. John 14:20: 20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.

If you were to write a letter to The Ridge Church family, what God-honoring traits and practices would you praise and recognize? In verse 2, Paul says that he always thanks God for them continually and prays for them persistently. How do you think this affected Paul's relationship with the people of Thessalonica? How could constant prayer and encouragement affect your relationship with those in your church family or small group? What outstanding qualities did Paul acknowledge and give thanks for in the lives of the believers in Thessalonica? What are “works” and how do they produce faith? What is “labor” and how is it affected by love? What/Who is our living hope and why does it help build endurance? In verses 4-5 Paul describes how the message of the gospel came to them. What is the message of the gospel? How was the message of the gospel delivered to the Thessalonians? How does the power of the gospel change those who accept and embrace it?What do you think Paul meant when he said in verse 5, “For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you...? What does the word, chosen, mean in this passage? Who initiates salvation, God or man? What role does man have in his salvation? What role does man's free will play in salvation? Why is Paul's statement that the Thessalonians had “turned to God from idols” a great picture of what salvation entails? What are some idols to which we cling? How can we turn away from those idols?DISCUSS:How would those in your life (family, neighbors, coworkers, etc.) describe your faith? What “evidences” would they cite as proof that you are an authentic follower of Jesus? How can you labor in love when it comes to your relationships both inside and outside the church? Why is hope so important to the Christian life? Why is Jesus described as our living hope? How does the hope of Christ's return affect your daily walk?PRAY:Pray that the power of the Gospel continues to “change” and strengthen your hope in Christ.RESPOND:Pick one area of your life (marriage, attitudes, service to others, etc.) and write down how the gospel affects that area of your life.
Twelve people, with varying degrees of anxiety, submitted their responses to the following five questions regarding anxiety:1. How does anxiety affect your way of life?2. Can someone with anxiety still feel empowered? What would that look like?3. What do people not understand about anxiety? Has anything hurtful been said in regards to your anxiety? 4. What/Who has been your biggest support and why?5. Anything else you want to share about anxiety that I haven't touched on? We can learn from their experiences as we work to normalize mental health.
Numbers 6's "The Lord make His face to shine upon you" contrasted with Micah 3 where God hides his face from the cry of the people is so stark that we must ask, "when or why would God ever hide his face?" Also in Micah 3, we'll see the difference between shepherds and butchers when it comes to leading sheep. Journal Questions: 1. What is your function and how does your faith impact that? 2. What/Who are you sacrificing FOR? 3. What are you asking God FOR? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jonlgroves/support

1:34 The Background: Why are the Sadducees annoyed by the miraculously healed man from Acts 3? 2:18 Acts 4:7-10 "... By what power or by what name did you do this? Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders, if we are being examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed, let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well." (ESV) [1] 2:45 To whom are they giving all the credit, glory, and honor? vv.11-12 "This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” 3:30 What does this have to do with addiction, disease, choosing a higher power, sobriety, being clean and sober, drunkenness, and idolatry? 4:45 What/Who is the only true remedy you need to know and why? 5:35 Acts 4:13-14 "Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus. But seeing the man who was healed standing beside them, they had nothing to say in opposition." What is one of the foundational tenets of TAC found in this verse? 7:10 Who is the persecution surprisingly coming from? 9:45 Who wants to be called these words? 11:30 Nick 14:05 Matthew 4:18-22 “While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately ...followed him. And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.” 16:30 What does it mean to be recognized as having “been with Jesus”? 18:15 What are the results of ministry to those who were in addiction? With live theater happening once again here in New York, one of the joys has been seeing friends back on stage, doing what they do best. And I certainly hope to be joining them soon, but in the meantime it's wonderful to reconnect with today's guest. Kathryn Allison is a singer and actress who I got to know at The Muny in St. Louis, just as she was really beginning her professional career. But she's gone on to perform in Wicked, Aladdin and currently the revival of Company. (She seems to have a thing for Broadway shows with one-word titles.) But as Kathryn shares her three stories with us today, being on Broadway doesn't replace the importance of mental health, nor does it make her forget those embarrassing auditions when she didn't book the show, and it also doesn't mean that the work of inclusion is done as Kathryn continues to push for more access and a continuing search for strong, diverse voices. Get a copy of WINMI's free ebook Creative Wisdom. Listen to Kathryn's Other Audition Story In addition to the audition story shared in this episode, Kathryn recalls another audition for Waitress and performing for Sara Bareilles. This is in a special bonus episode where she also discusses her experience of doing in-person auditions again. Bonus episodes like this are only available to supporters of Why I'll Never Make It. And a big thank you goes to to Courtney Potts for becoming the latest WINMI Producer. Courtney actually chose the yearly subscription option, and I couldn't be more grateful for the support! So if you'd like to help this podcast as well, then please consider an ongoing subscription to bonus episodes (via Supercast). There is also an option to give a one-time donation (via PayPal), both of which help offset the cost of producing 50+ episodes each year. Whichever way you choose to contribute, your help is so very much appreciated! Find a Reader for Your Next Self-Tape: WeAudition And as self-tapes are now the norm, WeAudition has been a great help to me this past year and provides a wonderfully creative, safe space to create the best video submissions possible. I just recently used them in a TV self-tape for Uncoupling and got a callback! Join today using the promo code WINMI25, which not only saves you money but it also helps support WINMI through this affiliate link. So join me and thousands of actors helping each other rehearse auditions and make better self-tapes. The Final Five In these five final questions Kathryn addresses topics not covered in that episode, providing extra insight into her work and experiences in the performing arts. What job within the arts do you feel is the most undervalued or least recognized? What does success or “making it” mean to you? What/Who inspires you most an an artist and creative? Name a personal lesson that took you awhile to learn or one that you are still working on to this day? What's the most useful advice you've received, and how have you applied it to your life or career? You can find her Final Five on the WINMI Blog. FAITH is so important to our spiritual growth because it is the mechanism God has given to us whereby we can tap into the spiritual realm that is above and beyond the world of our five senses. Today we consider questions like:What makes the confidence possible? What / Who is the object of your faith? Is God the object of your faith?
Comparison is the "silent thief" of joy, gratitude, faith, peace, confidence, contentment, productivity, etc.; and often leads to depression and the feeling of inadequacy. Who are you comparing yourself with? Who are you comparing your race with? Who are you competing with? What/Who are you coveting? Stop competing and comparing yourself with others. Choose contentment. Focus on what God has placed in your hands and use it.
And because I've never Introduced myself properly to everyone, I'll be releasing a special series starting this week until my Birthday! I'll be answering the questions you guys asked me. What /Who becomes a bass legend most? How to finish Season One on an ultimate “low” note? It was several of my guests who chimed in- “Ya gotta interview John. He's a New York legend, has great stories, and, well, you've worked with him tons, right?” So here he is- stories of recording with the hippest jazz artists of the late 50s-early 60s, auditioning for Leopold Stokowski for his (now 56th year!) principal bass chair gig with the American Symphony Orchestra, being a Sondheim “rock” on Broadway, and his endless TV and Film credits- including laying down tracks from Sinatra to John Lennon's “Imagine”. John's wry sense of humor has been relied upon to diffuse the tensest of rehearsals and recording sessions- merely a cool fringe benefit to his unbelievably solid and beautiful musicianship. I've had the honor of working with him for 15 years at City Center's “Encores!”, and always look forward to gaining some priceless wisdom during our ritual ramen noodle outings. AND, in lieu of creating the duets, we've opted instead to showcase some of those early swinging sessions that John walked all over- awesome sides with Gerry Mulligan, James Moody, Al Cohn, and more. It was an honor to wrap up my first season doing this special “off-the-menu” interview with one of the true greats of the bass violin.
