Wisconsin Democrats narrowly chose Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley over Democratic Socialist state representative Francesca Hong in the gubernatorial primary, 39.8 percent to 39.4 percent. It's close enough that this might be headed to a recount, but it doesn't appear that Hong won. Crowley, who was endorsed by Governor Tony Evers, will face Trump-endorsed Republican representative Tom Tiffany. The result halted the progressive left's recent primary momentum, but it still showed its strength in a battleground state. What you're probably going to hear about is the polling. After the polls wildly overestimated Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan, the final State Navigate poll had Hong at 44 percent and Crowley at 22 percent — a 22-point Hong lead. Instead, Crowley won by 0.4 percent. That's a 22.4-point miss on the margin. Jeez Louise. Hong's vote share wasn't wildly off; the poll totally underestimated Crowley. The question is why these polls keep overrepresenting progressive-leaning voters. One theory is that more polls are using online surveys. The old problem with landline calls was that they overrepresented boomers because nobody under 60 had a landline. Nobody answers an unfamiliar number on a cellphone, so that leaves online responses, which might overrepresent progressives. It's also worth noting that the DSA endorsed Hong, but Bernie Sanders and AOC didn't. Pure DSA play isn't good enough to get you over the hump, even in a Democratic primary. Bernie and AOC provide some wiggle room away from the DSA's baggage.Politics Politics Politics is a reader-supported publication. Flanagan overcame a major spending disadvantage after attacking Craig's immigration record, particularly her 2025 vote expanding ICE authority. Republicans nominated former NFL reporter Michele Tafoya, but barring huge changes in the race, Flanagan is going to be Minnesota's next senator. In the governor's race, Amy Klobuchar easily secured the Democratic nomination, while state House speaker Lisa Demuth defeated Trump-backed My Pillow founder Mike Lindell. Please raise your combs in celebration.South Carolina's emergency election to replace Lindsey Graham is headed to an August 25 runoff between interim senator Darlene Graham and Representative Ralph Norman. Graham, Lindsey's sister and Trump's endorsed candidate, finished first with 32.7 percent. Norman took the second spot with 24.6 percent, narrowly eliminating Representative Russell Fry. The vote was pretty split, and I don't know whether Darlene has the juice to keep Norman off. A lot of Republicans were already angry that she decided to seek the seat permanently instead of serving as a placeholder. Ralph Norman has a real shot. The kiss of death for Darlene would be the double endorsement — a double Trump endorsement.Former Hartford mayor Luke Bronin also defeated 14-term Democratic representative John Larson, 54 percent to 33 percent. Larson, 78, became the seventh House Democrat defeated in a primary this cycle, while Governor Ned Lamont won renomination. In Alabama, Trump-endorsed Republican Rhett Marques advanced to face Democratic representative Shomari Figures in the redrawn Second District, where the Black voting-age population was reduced from 48 percent to 40 percent.Chapters00:00:00 - Intro00:05:42 - Tuesday Primary Results00:16:18 - Exploring Disney's America with Andrew Heaton01:19:36 - Wrap-up This is a public episode. In a shocking revelation, the Secret Service's extraordinary measures to protect the President from a credible threat by Iranian terrorists have left the media fuming. The President's detail went to great lengths to deceive the press, moving the President to a different plane while keeping the media on the original aircraft. This move put reporters in harm's way, but it was a necessary risk to ensure the President's safety. The media's reaction is a perfect example of their priorities being skewed. This episode delves into the world of politics and media, where the lines between truth and deception are often blurred. Larry discusses the recent primary elections in Wisconsin and Michigan, where the polls were proven wrong, and the actual results were a surprise to many. The conversation also touches on the media's role in shaping public opinion and the importance of questioning the information presented to us. Larry also shares his thoughts on the recent controversy surrounding Dr. Fauci and the COVID-19 vaccine. The episode also covers the story of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's decision to freeze her eggs, which sparked a heated debate about her personal life and motivations. Larry shares his thoughts on the matter and raises questions about the media's obsession with Ocasio-Cortez's personal life. Additionally, the conversation touches on the importance of transparency in government and the need for accountability in public health officials.Become a Townhall VIP member with promo code "LARRY": https://townhall.com/subscribeSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On Monday's Mark Levin Show, political correctness is running amok in the WNBA. There are two issues facing the WNBA: transgender athletes and racism. A small fraction of athletes - transgenders - are threatening to destroy opportunities for biological women and girls. This is not a civil rights issue. Women have fought for 50 years for equality in sports. That doesn't mean men and women are the same. It means women and girls have the opportunity to flourish in athletics. It's time to make a decision: will a relatively handful of individuals destroy the purpose of a women's sports league? Or will the overwhelmingly biological female athletes compete on a level playing field. The WNBA is a business and the hierarchy and players should treat it as such. The only color that should matter is the color of money: green. Whether it's the men's NBA or the WNBA, people want to see the best athletes, regardless of color. Then, President Trump called out the democratic socialist and jihadist candidates for their radicalism and craziness. They want to eliminate the Senate, Supreme Court, police, military, etc. No other president would talk this way. Also, AOC says she has frozen her eggs. Why the need to announce it? Some things you keep private. She also talked about Francesca Hong, a far-left DSA running for governor of Wisconsin. AOC hedged her bet, saying all politics are local, woke one was crazy she says, and we have to assess what a candidate is saying now. AOC and other leading Democrats aren't endorsing Hong because they think she won't win and want to keep losses to a minimum. As far as Abdul El-Sayed, she's excited, saying it's a time of renewal for the Democratic party. Then, Bernie Sanders knows Hong can't win in Wisconsin. He was asked why he doesn't endorse her if her positions line up with his and he fell back on the old, tired trope: tax the rich. El-Sayed says he differs with Bernie on capitalism, saying we live under "corporatism." El-Sayed is a jihadist, an Islamist, and a bald-faced liar. Finally, in defense of AIPAC: El-Sayed complained they plan to spend $3.8 million against him next week. The Dems are making AIPAC - and Israel - the defining issues of the midterm elections. El-Sayed says the money the U.S. sends to Israel should be spent here on healthcare, etc. Facts: the U.S. spent $7 Trillion last year. Israel received $3.8 billion...in other words, five one-hundredths of 1% of total federal spending. In return, the U.S. gets an indispensable ally. AIPAC is an American organization serving American interests. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

As Americans grapple with higher housing, grocery, and everyday costs, Buck argues that telling frustrated voters to spend less or cook at home simply misses the bigger political problem. He explains how economic anxiety could become a major vulnerability for Republicans and why AOC is positioning herself to capitalize on it. Joe tackles AOC's political future, explaining why she'll skip a grueling presidential run in favor of a comfortable primary challenge against Chuck Schumer. He exposes the chameleon-like accents of New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani and the hypocrisy of corporate media anchors running interference for progressive politicians.Later, Joe details the double standards and rising tensions in the WNBA, dissects Abdul El-Sayed's defensive mathematical gymnastics regarding Medicare-for-All taxes, and delivers a throwback to a time when prominent liberals like David Letterman and Jimmy Carter actually championed common-sense voting guidelines.

Ike Brannon, President of Capital Policy Analytics, joins Josh to discuss another often-overlooked factor in the inflation debate: tort lawsuits and the hidden costs they pass along to consumers. Todd examines Democrats' effort to distance themselves from the excesses of woke politics as the midterm elections approach. He responds to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's discussion of "woke one," reviews the language rules, defund-the-police movement, DEI mandates, gender ideology, cancel culture, and other policies voters are now being asked to forget, and argues that the same underlying ideas remain. Todd also considers Hillary Clinton's warning that Republican attacks linking Democratic candidates to socialism and communism could be effective, explaining why those labels matter when prominent candidates openly embrace socialist policies.

In this episode of Verdict with Ted Cruz, Senator Ted Cruz and Ben Ferguson analyze the rise of democratic socialism within Democratic politics, debate anti-Israel activism on the left, examine comments from AOC and other progressive figures, and discuss the growing controversy over gender eligibility rules in women’s sports and the WNBA. The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and their growing influence inside the Democratic Party take center stage in this episode, alongside a heated debate over gender eligibility in women’s sports. Senator Ted Cruz and Ben Ferguson examine comments from a DSA leader on taxation, socialism, Israel, and the future direction of the political left. They discuss a recent interview with a DSA co-chair, focusing on the organization’s views on wealth, capitalism, and Israel. Cruz argues that the movement’s policies reflect a broader ideological shift within progressive politics and raises concerns about the DSA’s stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The conversation then turns to Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, progressive media figures, and the struggle for influence among younger voters inside the modern Democratic coalition. Cruz and Ferguson debate whether increasingly radical political rhetoric is becoming mainstream within parts of the left. The second half of the episode focuses on women’s sports and a new controversy involving former NBA players publicly declaring interest in WNBA eligibility under current gender identity policies. The hosts discuss fairness in competition, reactions from sports leaders, comments from President Donald Trump, and the broader national debate surrounding transgender participation in athletics. Topics Covered: Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and its policy agenda Taxation, socialism, and critiques of capitalism Israel, Hamas, and debate over a one-state solution Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and progressive political coalitions WNBA eligibility rules and transgender athlete controversies Clay Travis, Enes Freedom, and fairness in women’s sports The Bottom Line: Senator Cruz argues that the DSA represents a growing ideological force within the Democratic Party and contends that its positions on capitalism and Israel are increasingly influential. He and Ferguson also argue that women’s sports organizations will face mounting pressure to clarify eligibility standards as the transgender athlete debate continues. Ro Khanna represents Silicon Valley in Congress, and he's spent the last few years building a case that the Democratic Party's future runs through places like Johnstown and Erie–in his home state of Pennsylvania–not just tech wealth. He calls it progressive capitalism, and he thinks it's the platform that beats both Donald Trump's economic nationalism and the socialism of the party's left flank. He joins Coleman Hughes to make his case, ahead of an expected decision on a 2028 presidential run. They start with why Khanna broke from his own party to defend the Hunter Biden laptop story, and whether he'd actually seek congressional approval for military action as president or repeat the pattern set by Democratic presidents before him. From there they get into his pitch for why Democrats should pick him over Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and his case for targeted tariffs on steel and trucks instead of Trump's blanket approach. They end on his shift from calling himself a pro-Israel progressive to arguing that Israel's war in Gaza amounted to genocide. On Tuesday, August 18th, Coleman will be answering your questions in the Free Press Forum. One of the biggest stories of this election cycle is the emergence, for the first time in a long time, of socialism as a force on the national stage. Inspired perhaps by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Zohran Mamdani, D.S.A. candidates are running in congressional and state-level races all over the country. But some of those candidates, David Remnick thinks, talk more like F.D.R. Democrats than like students of Marx. How socialist is democratic socialism, and how does it square with the future of the Democratic Party? Remnick talks with a co-chair of the D.S.A., Megan Romer, who recently went viral for a lightning round of questions pitched at her on Fox News. Romer defends controversial D.S.A. positions on workers' ownership of the means of production, U.S. support of Israel, the war in Ukraine, and defunding the police.
