Festival Season on Roadcase is finally upon us and we're kicking it off from Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago!! For this Part 1 from Pitchfork, I talked to singer, rapper and multi-genre artist, Tkay Maizda and also had a fun convo with the amazing Riot Girrrrls themselves, Molly Neuman and Allison Wolfe of Bratmobile. Tkay has achieved global recognition already in her brief career, having won NME's Best Australian Solo Artist in 2022. She was also nominated for an ARIA award for Best Rap Song for her 2023 single "Silent Assassin."  But accolades alone do not do her justice; Tkay is a joyous human and a tireless artist, and she talked to me about striving to create and perform at the highest levels. We discussed what it was like growing up in Australia, moving frequently from city to city, how she stayed true to herself and her art.Molly and Allison of Bratmobile are back playing live after a 20-year hiatus and are both super excited to be performing again. Having been at the hub of the Riot Girl movement in the early 90s, Bratmobile waved the flag for the DIY spirit and Girl Power. They both talked to me about their fierce advocacy for Women's Rights and for the inclusion of Women in the music industry both in performance and production roles, and talked to me about all the life they've lived since starting up the band over 30 years ago! This is a great episode with these super compelling artists featuring tons of great stories and tales from the road.  Check it out now!!For more information on Roadcase: https://linktr.ee/roadcasepod and https://www.roadcasepod.comOr contact Roadcase by email:  info@roadcasepod.comRoadcase theme music:  "Eugene (Instrumental)" by Waltzer

The boys drink and review Jailbreak's White Russian cream ale, then discuss five topics in five minutes. #1 -- Confusibles. The boys review some words people commonly use incorrectly. That vs. which. Farther vs. further. etc. #2 -- Swiss fat lesbians. A journalist was sentenced to 60 days in jail for calling a self-described fat lesbian a fat lesbian. Which is true. She is a fat lesbian. But to call her one is somehow hate speech. Which is a ridiculous concept to begin with. #3 -- Is "back to the office" a tool of the patriarchy? Here's the logic. Men are more willing to work jobs they don't like, put in more hours, and put up with crap than women are. Women have more emphasis on work-life balance. Working from home is better for work-life balance, so forcing employees back to the office disproportionately affects women. #4 -- The greatest rap song of all time! Ben Shapiro (aka Dr. Dreidel) joins with Tom McDonald to make a politically conservative rap song. It ends up topping the charts!! Crowhill is not impressed. #5 -- The "He gets us" Superbowl ad. It's pretty lame, and it seems to reaffirm unfair criticisms of Christians, but on the positive side, it's possibly getting people interested in Jesus.

"Ni**as in Paris" (edited for radio as "In Paris" or simply "Paris"; censored on the album as "Ni**as in Paris") is a song by American rappers Jay-Z and Kanye West from their collaborative album Watch the Throne (2011). The song is built around a synth bell loop from the Dirty South Bangaz music library[1] and also contains vocal samples from "Baptizing Scene" by Reverend W.A. Donaldson, an interpolation of "Victory" by Puff Daddy featuring The Notorious B.I.G. and Busta Rhymes, and dialogue excerpts from the 2007 film Blades of Glory.[2] On the week of the album's release, "Niggas in Paris" debuted at number 75 on the Billboard Hot 100 eventually peaking at number five. Outside of the United States, "Niggas in Paris" peaked within the top ten of the charts in the United Kingdom. The song won the awards for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song at the 2015 Grammy Awards. When the six members of THE ISLEY BROTHERS disbanded (1984), Marvin and Ernie Isley joined CHRIS JASPER and formed ISLEY-JASPER-ISLEY. Without this crucial musical component, THE ISLEY BROTHERS were no longer a self-produced, self-contained group. CHRIS JASPER brought his “unique sound” and musical talents to ISLEY-JASPER-ISLEY, and topped the charts singing lead vocals on “Caravan of Love” (1985), a song that was covered by English recording group, the Housemartins, an international #1 pop hit. “Caravan” was also used in commercials as part of a Dodge Caravan advertising campaign. He was also awarded a CEBA Award For Excellence for a Miller Brewing Company commercial. The music for that commercial formed the basis for “Brother to Brother” from the “Different Drummer” album, which supported the anti-apartheid struggle going on in South Africa at that time. His music has also been used in radio and television commercials, most recently “Who's That Lady” (Swiffer) and “Between The Sheets” (L'Oreal). When ISLEY-JASPER-ISLEY disbanded (1987), CHRIS JASPER brought his “unique sound” to his own solo projects, topping the charts with “SuperBad,” a song promoting the value of education. CHRIS JASPER has continued to write songs and produce his own R&B/Gospel music, as well as other artists, for his independent record label, Gold City Records (www.goldcitymusic.com). CHRIS JASPER's music has been covered and sampled by hundreds of new and established recording artists, including Whitney Houston, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, Fantasia, Will Smith, Alliyah, Queen Latifah, Notorious B.I.G., Tupac, Natalie Cole, and the list goes on and on. His music has also been used in television and radio commercials. In 1992, CHRIS JASPER, along with the other members of THE ISLEY BROTHERS, was inducted into the ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME. Chris Jasper was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 30, 1951, the youngest of seven siblings. While growing up in Cincinnati, Chris studied classical piano starting at the age of 7 years old. After graduating from high school in Cincinnati, he moved to New York to study music composition at the Juilliard School of Music. Chris received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in music composition from C.W. Post College in New York, where he studied under noted jazz pianist and composer, Dr. Billy Taylor. He subsequently received a Juris Doctorate degree from Concord University School of Law. THE JASPER/ISLEY CONNECTION The Jasper and Isley families lived in the same apartment complex in Cincinnati, Ohio. Chris's older sister, Elaine, married Rudolph Isley. The three older Isley brothers, Rudolph, O'Kelly and Ronald, formed a vocal trio (“The Isley Brothers”) and relocated to Teaneck, New Jersey. While temporarily living in New Jersey as a teenager, Chris and the two younger Isley brothers, Marvin and Ernie, formed a band, “The Jazzmen Trio”, that played locally in New Jersey. Chris played keyboards, Ernie played guitar and Marvin played the bass. Along with Chris, Ernie and Marvin also attended C.W. Post College in New York. While in college, Chris, Marvin and Ernie played on the older Isley Brothers recordings, including “It's Your Thing”. SOLO CAREER In 1987, Isley-Jasper-Isley disbanded and Chris and Ernie embarked on solo careers. Chris formed his own record label, Gold City Records, and released two albums as a CBS-associated label. His debut single as a solo artist, “Superbad” reached #1 on the R&B charts. Eventually, Marvin and Ernie returned to record under the Isley Brothers group name, and Chris continued his solo career, releasing a total of 9 solo albums to date, including 4 urban contemporary gospel CDs. Chris has also produced a number of artists for his Gold City label, and has worked with such notable artists as Chaka Khan, writing and producing a song for her CK album (“Make It Last”). Michael's is called CD "Dreams". Chris has received numerous gold and platinum albums and music industry awards, including the BET lifetime achievement award. Inspired by the provocative lyrics of the influential hip-hop group NWA, an adolescent Ben Haggerty immediately fell in love with the genre, and soon became laser-focused on a career as a rap artist. Under the alias Macklemore, he slowly gained a loyal following through an emerging underground Seattle hip-hop scene and exposure through the local independent radio station KEXP. In collaboration with friend and producer Ryan Lewis, Ben's career reached an entirely new level after the release of their massively successful album The Heist. Ushered by the viral music video for their hit song "Thrift Shop" and assisted by alt radio DJs across the US, Macklemore and Lewis launched to the top of the Billboard charts and won multiple Grammy Awards for Best New Artist, Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance. Ben has continued to grow and collaborate with some of the industry's top talent, expressing gratitude for his platform to speak about important issues and opportunities to make a positive impact on his community. In our conversation, Ben talks about the intensity of immediate fame, the absolute joy of performing, and the inherent entrepreneurial spirit responsible for his success. And on a surprisingly related tangent, you golfers out there can thank him for creating a whole new aesthetic to brandish out on the green. Thanks for tuning in to episode 26. We hope you enjoy it! According to a recent Instagram Live video, Soulja Boy is ready to leave the rap game behind for good and concentrate on becoming an actor as his new docuseries, “The Life of Draco” hits the internet. But is this the actual truth or just the next exaggeration in a long line of them? Look, on the Bright Side of Fame Soulja Boy's early 2000's hit “Crank That” would not only top the Billboard Hot 100 and get nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap Song, it would also become a piece of history and be recognized as what's likely the first viral rap track of all time. But even back then, Soulja Boy was messing with us. Do any of you even remember how you heard that song for the first time? Let me remind you that you probably got tricked into listening to it with a little bait-and-switch. Because way back when in the early days of the new millennium when programs like Limewire were a big thing, Soulja Boy came up with the ingenious idea to upload his song to file-sharing sites under the name of more popular singles and artists so that listeners had no idea they were actually downloading his track until they were already listening to it! That's right, the Dark Side of Fame is something that Soulja Boy is entirely comfortable with, and over the course of his career he would not only continue to engage in scam after scam but he'd also get caught up in a weapons possession charge and even be accused of some truly atrocious crimes perpetrated against women.

He was granted citizenship of Russia in January 2013 and became a cultural ambassador of Montenegro in the same month.Alyssa Milano - When trying to convince Cece he could get a partner by the time of her wedding, he mentioned he “once figured out Alyssa Milano's phone number just by randomly choosing numbers.” Alyssa Jayne Milano is an American actress, producer, singer, author, and activist. Some things in life and business are to be expected. In this weeks news, there was a little bit of both involved - good and not so good. This "expectation" is in order for congratulations. Singer and reality TV regular Ray J is set to become a first-time father. Ray J and Princess Love wed in August, 2016. An additional congrats, goes to rapper Rick Ross as he has scored a high-profile deal with luxury rap watchmaker Hublot to named the official brand ambassador the company, which was established in 1976. Meek Mill and his legal issues seemed to be gaining some positive progress with names such as Jay-Z and Rev. Al Sharpton lending time to his probation violation case via their platforms. Unexpectedly, he hit yet another roadblock to freedom after a legal motion aimed at hopefully gaining freedom was denied. Keep hope alive for Meek! Donald Trump’s actions will forever keep him in a sunken place. Native Americans have confirmed that he uses the word Pocahontas as an offensive term used towards Senator Elizabeth Warren. “You were here long before any of us were here, although we have a representative in Congress who they say was here a long time ago. They call her Pocahontas,” he joked. This guy has a lot of nerve! Prince Harry is engaged to Meghan Markle. We’re only reporting on this for cultural purposes because the actress is a Black woman, lol. Congrats to them though! The 60th Annual Grammy nominations are in and we have to admit they are pretty lit. Cardi B has been nominated for two Grammys in the categories of Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song and SZA has racked up a total of five nominations making her the most nominated woman for next year’s awards. The “Ctrl” singer is up for Best New Artist, Best Rap/Sung Performance, Best R&B Song, Best Urban Contemporary Album, and Best R&B Performance. We hope this dream will come true for them both at the 2018 award show taking place January 28...fingers crossed! How Does Your Upbringing Influence Your Behavior In Your Relationships? The crew had something interesting things to say on this one, lol. Get caught up with this and more next Wednesday, 9-10pm!
