Get Your Ass Out And Vote!

In this episode I talk with X Games vert medallist, Rollerblade and Famus rider and Cirque du Soleil performer Nel Martin about vert skating. --- I’m working on a literary fiction novel about rollerblading with the working title ‘Fruitbooters: a rollerblading novel’, and am looking for help to set aside the time to get it done quickly and properly. It’s one small contribution towards building the ‘cultural capital’ of rollerblading. You can make a once off or regular donation at patreon.com/michaelgjames . As social beings, we choose which group identities to assimilate with or invest in and which social groups we're most loyal to. Therefore, the degree to which we identify with and protect certain identities varies. So, today, we'll be talking all about our identities as individuals, why we seek social groups, and overall, the relationship between groups, individuals, and societies. Now, she's a director at fintech VC, Anthemis, where she focuses on corporate venture investment, bringing her own perspective to venture investing. In our talk, Ruth describes how the definition of fintech has evolved and where she thinks the sector is headed in the future with a particular emphasis on insurtech. We talk about trends and where Anthemis is placing its bets. Lastly, we analyze some of the firm's most exciting portfolio companies. My guest today on the Tearsheet Podcast is Ruth Foxe Blader. After a long hiatus, Mark Weaver gets off his lazy ass and makes a new podcast with the help of new guest Edward Hines (coming from Jacksonville, FL). Our conversation, that includes topics of Pow-Wow, M1, the "industry", and more, was unfortunately cut off abruptly due to my negligence of how much hard drive space I had on my laptop. Eddy and I will make a part 2 in the near future to give "closure" to you listeners. Until then, Thank you for listening to the first Episode of Season 2 of Blader Geeks Podcasters! -Mark-
Erik Bailey and Kyler Martz are Boise blading brothers, to say the least. In this episode, Erik, a Valo pro for nearly 12 years, and Kyler, whose art is ubiquitous in blading, talk about taking second place in a booty-shaking competition, famous blading spots in Seattle, suitcase tattoo parlors, the highs of painting indoors without ventilation, puking in host bathrooms, mormon bladers, and more. This episode was recorded Dec. 27, 2014, in Erik's living room while the rest of his family was sleeping, so you're going to need to turn it up a bit.
