Ryan is the Executive Vice President at Cardone Capital in the Miami metro area and has completed acquisitions with a transaction value of over $2.9 billion, secured more than $1.9 billion of debt financing, and has been actively involved in launching every investment vehicle for the company. He holds a B.S. in Aviation and Airway Management from Utah Valley State University. Growing up, Ryan observed his uncle, who was a builder and gave him a job at the age of 13. While Ryan had an interest in real estate from early on, he decided to begin his career as an airline pilot and continued that trajectory for 10 years. During this time, he also invested in real estate, building up a portfolio of 21 units. He discovered Grant Cardone, a renowned business expert and real estate investor, on YouTube, and wanted to get involved with him to pursue his real estate goals. Ryan called the front desk of the company to ask for a job interview, and soon was working alongside Grant every day. He spent the next years learning the day-to-day work of real estate, as he did weekly calls with properties to track performance, carried out due diligence, and ultimately worked through every vertical. He went on to help build teams and expand the real estate business to move deals faster. “Partnerships aren't just internal—they're external and they're powerful,” he says. Over the next years, Cardone Capital expanded from 200 investors to more than 13,000. Amid that growth, Ryan and his team wanted to prioritize investor relationships. “More than 90% of our investors have talked to a real live person in our office,” he says. Today, Cardone Capital acquires and manages real estate properties with a focus on both near-term income generation and long-term value creation. It aims to provide everyday investors with access to institutional-grade real estate deals. Since 2016, it has raised more than $1 billion across 22 funds. Its portfolio consists of more than 12,000 multifamily units across 36 multifamily properties along with over 500,000 square feet of commercial office space. Ryan cites parallels between aviation and real estate, including the value of being trainable, having checklists, and following processes and procedures. In this episode, I am happy to welcome Mike “C-Roc” Ciorrocco. C-Roc has been a real estate investor since 2005 and is the CEO of People Building Incorporated. He is the host of the popular podcast “What Are You Made Of?” and author of the upcoming book, Rocket Fuel. He has also been recognized as one of the Yahoo Finance Top Business Leaders To Follow for 2020. C-Roc began by telling us that he started in sales at the age of eight when he would find golf balls at the golf club he lived on and sell them to the golfers, all while being chased by the club manager in a cart! He was in sales for a water treatment company for nine years before getting into real estate and through this experience, he really learned how to deal with people. In 2005, C-Roc became a realtor and was a top-performing agent pretty quickly because of the work ethic he had developed in his former work life. After about a year, he realized that showing people houses wasn't really his thing, so he moved into the mortgage industry. C-Roc brought up training under Grant Cardone and I asked him what it meant to be a licensee of his program. The mortgage company he went to work for was already using Cardone University products and they were seeing a ton of growth when they implemented his systems. In this episode, I am happy to welcome Mike “C-Roc” Ciorrocco. C-Roc has been a real estate investor since 2005 and is the CEO of People Building Incorporated. He is the host of the popular podcast “What Are You Made Of?” and author of the upcoming book, Rocket Fuel. C-Roc began by telling us that he started in sales at the age of eight when he would find golf balls at the golf club he lived on and sell them to the golfers, all while being chased by the club manager in a cart! I think I did 45. I’m going to play the age card this time as Steve is 10 years younger than me. Steve shared how Grant personally coaches him which is wild to have a coach on that level and again, Steve is already very successful and is still learning. The experience of being around Grant and his people definitely expanded my mindset to think bigger and I hope the same for you the listener. It may not seem like it but I stewed on these five questions I was asked to submit in advance. I’ve watched a lot of interviews of Grant and wanted to pull out that story no one has heard yet. For our 600th episode, we're going to talk about Grant Cardone, who I consider to be one of the top 10 marketers on the planet. Important to note: Grant doesn't know me and he does not appear in this episode. However, I've read (almost) all his books and bought a few other things from him, such as his 10XGrowthCon livestream. He brands himself as a sales trainer and is the best person to learn from if you're looking to up your game, develop a better work ethic, and connect better with your customers & employees. He's definitely the hardest working person I've ever seen. If that makes me a kiss-ass, so be it: 10X rule: it takes 10 times the effort you think it will take, so set your goal, then 10-times that goal, and then 10-times the action you think you'll need to take to hit that goal (avoids "one foot on the brake") Get your money right Have a quiet workspace, rent an office, get employees You don't know if "too much" is too much until you've done it Grocery store rot: feed the beast, keep the traffic, clients, business, and money pouring in constantly You’re always selling (job, career, webinar, class) -- surpass your quota (quick personal videos) Be the most ethical person you know: "ethical" means telling as many people about your product because it’s unethical not to help them by selling it to them Most of us are introverted or shy (the thing you fear is the action you are putting off and should probably take). Be "social" even if you're introverted. Make thank you calls or send postcards to customers. "Someone canceled on me for lunch, let's have lunch." Daily meetings & quotas (measured progress): get into the habit of completion Most people don’t follow-up (36 voicemails, every business in Miami, eat lunch with people) Don't wait to get your ducks in a row before taking action: CRMs or spreadsheets? Just start dialing or contacting. Omnipresence (market yourself in so many places that people can’t ignore you Ramp up as your skill and efficiency improves (Brad Lea videos, morning vlogs, daily LinkedIn posts) Be difficult and ask for what you want Ask questions from prospects (buying a laptop story), mirror and always agree Scheduling & happiness: fill in so much in your schedule that the weeds can’t grow Be so busy that you haven’t even had time to watch your favorite tv show in weeks. Work weekends - don't take them off like everyone else does Write down your goals in the morning and at night If you have multiple jobs / streams of income, be looking for "complementary" skills, i.e. day job to learn coding and create plugins on the side... voiceover artists who get into podcast setup & editing Are you discouraged because someone hasn't called you back? How many times have you failed to call someone back? Call again.
