Ambrogio Borsani"Di parlarti non ho coraggio"Poesie inedite per Roberto VolponiEdizioni Interlineawww.interlinea.comUn'inedita Alda Merini riemerge nei testi ritrovati di Di parlarti non ho coraggio, curati da Ambrogio Borsani ed editi da Interlinea, in libreria dal 28 ottobre, con anteprima al festival internazionale di poesia civile di Vercelli sabato 9 novembre alla libreria Mondadori di Vercelli alle ore 12.Le poesie inedite della raccolta celebrano la storia di un'amicizia insolita tra la poetessa dei Navigli e il giovane Roberto Volponi, figlio dello scrittore Paolo, nata nelle serate trascorse fino alle due a conversare nel bar libreria Chimera di Milano, rifugio di poeti e sognatori, da Tondelli a Busi, da Raboni a Lamarque.«Lui era affascinato dalla vicenda umana e letteraria della poetessa e soprattutto dalla sua libertà lessicale nel raccontarla» ricorda nella premessa il curatore Borsani, amico della Merini ed egli stesso frequentatore del Chimera: «mentre lei vedeva in lui un ragazzo appassionato, curioso, tenero, con una fede ostinata nelle utopie e una sorprendente partecipazione agli abissi delle umane vicende».Dopo la morte improvvisa del giovane Volponi in un incidente aereo nel 1989, Merini donò alla famiglia il gruppo di poesie di straordinaria intensità rimaste ignote fino a oggi anche per problemi filologici oggi risolti, ricordo della stima e dell'affetto profondo tra i due: «Purissima ambizione la mia / che tocco le tue vesti / colme di ingegno e poi / ti lasciarono andare le mie mani / come avessero avuto la maggiore / folgorazione. In vita eri sì bello / che ogni profilo tuo pieno di vento / diventava commiato di parola».I testi sono stati dattiloscritti dall'autrice con una macchina per scrivere con tasti dissestati e nastro scarico di inchiostro (tanto che in sostituzione del nastro spesso usava anche fogli di carta carbone) e pertanto la trascrizione ha dovuto interpretare le molte lettere digitate erroneamente.Di parlarti non ho coraggio. Poesie inedite per Roberto Volponi«Io di parlarti non ho coraggio, / né nominarti come solo amore»: un inedito sorprendente che la poetessa dei navigli ha composto su una macchina per scrivere dai tasti e nastro rovinati per ricordare l'amico Roberto Volponi, il figlio dello scrittore Paolo morto giovane in un incidente aereo. Sono testi che parlano di amore e morte, amicizia e dolore, con le illuminazioni di Alda Merini tanto amate dai suoi lettori. Come ricorda Ambrogio Borsani, amico di entrambi, frequentati al bar milanese Chimera con Tondelli, Busi, Consolo, Raboni e molti altri, è la testimonianza di una stagione unica da cui sono nate queste poesie che meritano di trovare «un posto nella vasta e variegata geografia poetica della Merini: la storia di un'amicizia insolita vissuta in un luogo rifugio di poeti e sognatori». Scrive lei: «Eri sì puro come una medaglia, / ed io medaglia che mi sono sfatta / brillo appena di luce sul tuo cuore».Alda Merini è nata a Milano nel 1931. Ha avuto riconoscimenti importanti alle sue prime raccolte, tra La presenza di Orfeo (1953) e Tu sei Pietro (1961). Sono seguiti vent'anni di silenzio per la drammatica esperienza dell'ospedale psichiatrico. Il suo capolavoro, La Terra Santa, uscì nel 1983 accolto da una sostanziale indifferenza. Nel 1986 raccontò l'esperienza del manicomio in L'altra verità. Diario di una diversa. Grazie a Giovanni Raboni riemerse all'attenzione del pubblico con Delirio amoroso, prose liriche del 1989. Nel 1993 vinse il premio Librex-Montale. Con Ballate non pagate (1995) vinse il premio Viareggio. La prima antologia, Fiore di poesia, curata da Maria Corti, uscì per Einaudi nel 1998 creando un caso editoriale. Iniziò una vasta produzione di plaquette e libri sparsi tra decine di editori. Nell'ultimo periodo scrisse diversi libri segnati da una vena di misticismo, come Francesco. Canto di una creatura (2007), e tra le ultime raccolte per Einaudi troviamo Superba è la notte (2000). Si spense all'Ospedale San Paolo di Milano il primo novembre del 2009. Il suono dell'ombra (2018) è la più ampia raccolta della sua produzione in prosa e poesia negli “Oscar” Mondadori. Interlinea ha già pubblicato di lei Più della poesia, due conversazioni con Paolo Taggi, che per primo la portò in tv, un libro-verità con dvd in cui lei si racconta come mai aveva fatto prima.Ambrogio Borsani ha scritto romanzi come L'ellisse di fuoco (Premio Pisa) e libri di viaggio: Addio Eden, Tropico dei sogni, Stranieri a Samoa (Finalista Premio Chatwin), Martinica incantatrice di poeti, Assalto al paradiso e Avventure di piccole terre. Ha fondato e diretto la rivista di storia del libro Wuz. Al mondo editoriale ha dedicato Il morbo di Gutenberg e altre patologie, L'arte di governare la carta, La claque del libro, Autori in cerca di autori. Ha lavorato come direttore creativo in agenzie di pubblicità internazionali (Leone d'argento al Cinema Pubblicitario di Cannes). Ha scritto molti libri per bambini e ha curato le opere principali di Alda Merini. Watch on Philo! - Philo.tv/DTHWe're in Sydney, Australia. Biocyte Pharmaceuticals. This Einstein looking mother goose shoots himself in the wrist with this gun that has some sort of drug in it. Apparently he created a bioweapon for Biocyte called Chimera but also created the cure for it. And he needs to get it into the right hands.  Next thing you know, he's on a plane sitting next to Ethan Hunt. He's the right hands. The plane experiences some cabin pressure loss, so the masks come down. Ethan stands up to take a look at whats up. People with the masks on start dropping like flies. Turns out, it's not really Ethan Hunt. It's a dude in the mask. Son of a gun got me again! There's a group of baddies who take the briefcase that Einstein had in his hands. They kill him and jump out of the plane before it crashes.Next thing you know, we're with Ethan Hunt, the real one. and he's just rock climbing, free solo style. It's nuts. Suddenly, this bag with glasses appear and he's given his mission - find this women named Nyah who apparently is the ex of Ambrose, the head of the guys from the plane. They think she'll be able to help get the briefcase back seeing as how she's also a profession thief. Ethan finds Nyah at this party trying to pick a lock for a necklace. Ethan tries to warn Nyah that the lock is protected by a fool proof alarm, but she ignores him. They are surrounded by armed guards. Thanks to Ethan's cover, he helps her escape, but she's not interested in working with him. Ethan chases Nyah in his car and he saves her life when car skids and falls over the cliff edge. They then have special time and she agrees to help him. Ethan then meets mission commander Swanbeck who reveals that Einstein had sent a video message to Ethan, while Ethan was out climbing. Now he's dead. And that's why you don't go on vacation. Apparently Ambrose was ordered by Swanbeck to impersonate Ethan Hunt since that who Einstein trusted but then he went rouge. Ethan's mission is to find this briefcase with the drug in it and bring it back.Nyah is not happy to learn that she has been recruited because she was Ambrose's ex-girlfriend but she agrees to help. Ethan get a team together. Luther is back and then we meet Billy, an australian helicopter pilot. Nyah sets up a time to meet with Ambrose. He sends someone to bring her to him which she's okay with because she knows that Ethan is tracking her and will keep her safe. One of Ambrose's associates, Hugh, suggests that Nyah's timing is a big suspcious, so he cuts off the tip of his pinky. Ambrose makes a memory card with information on Chimera and brings it to the race track to show to John McCloy, the CEO of Biocyte. Ethan sees Ambrose showing the contents of the memory card to McCloy on a camera. Nyah is able to get that card and gives it to Ethan. The card confirms that the drug is deadly. She gets back to Ambrose and she sneaks the card back into his pocket, which he notices but plays it cool. McCloy gets into his limo which has been taken by the IMF and they pump it full of this gas.  When he wakes up, he's  in a fake hospital room and is greeted by the ghost of Einstein. He tells him he's been infected with Chimera. McCloy admits that he ordered Chimera to be developed as a bio-weapon to sell for big bucks. Obviously, it's actually just Ethan in a mask and he now has all the information he needs. Nyah meets up with Ethan and they talk about the plan and we find out that it's not actually Ethan, rather it's Ambrose in a mask. So many masks, so little time. Ambrose decides he's going to use Nyah as bait to get Ethan to show up. Ethan and his team work on a plan to break into Biocyte and destory the remaining Chimera samples. Ethan enters the building from the roof, cuz it's Mission Impossible. He gets into the labs and begins to get rid of the remaining samples. Ther'es one left when he is suddenly ambused by Ambrose and his team. Ethan isn't worried about it until he finds out that Ambrose brought Nyah. He sends her over to grab the last gun of Chimera.. Nyah injects the virus into her body, giving her 20 hours to live and ensuring that Ambrose won't kill her. Ethan escapes but promising to save her. Ambrose releases Nyah on the streets of Sydney to spread the virus. Why? Because he meets back up with McCloy with a vile of the virus. He says he doesn't wants his money, he wants stock because as the Chimera outbreak grows, BioCyte will make a ton of money since they already have the anti-virus. McCloy isn't thrilled with this plan but there's not much he can do. Suddenly, there's a knock on the door. It's an explosive thrown by Ethan. Ambrose tells his baddies to go kill him, including Hugh. Ethan and Hugh get into a big fight. He is able to put an Ethan mask onto Hugh and put a Hugh mask on himself. Ambrose them killed the fake Ethan. But when Ambrose see's fake Ethan's finger, he realizes what he's done. While Ambrose was distracted by this, the real Ethan takes the vials containing the virus and the antidote and runs to the helicopter waiting for him outside. Ambrose catches up with him first which leads to a bit of a chase with Ethan on a motorcycle, riding it through fire and what not. Ultimately, it leads to a fight between Ambrose and Ethan and Ethan is able to kill him in one of the more ridiculous ways you could imagine. They tracked Nyah down and brought her to Ethan and Luther injects her with the anti-virus! Commander Swanbeck reminds Ethan he was supposed to bring back a sample of the Chimera virus and he's like sorry. Nyah's record is wiped clean and Ethan ends the movie by meeting up with her and kissing big ones cuz everything is just a Hallmark movie in disguise, some might say a mask.

Marcie Begleiter, an artist based on the Central Coast of California, talks about: artist residencies, including the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology, where she recently did a 4-week residency, including collecting biological specimens/samples; how her time and relationship with the residency evolves over those four weeks, which has lead to artistic breakthroughs; how she likes deadlines, and can structure her residency experience with the clock ticking and puts extra focus on what she's doing, and in addition having the support of the people running the residencies; the importance of the artist statement in applications for residencies; what her experience was like at Sitka, from where she stayed (at an offsite house as opposed to the onsite cabins) to how she spent her days and nights, and what her studio days are like on a residency vs. the studio where she lives; why she left New York (Manhattan) for, initially Taos, N.M., and eventually California (essentially she needed more access to nature); and the interdisciplinary program she started at Otis College of Art that focuses on social change in the community.  In the 2nd half of our conversation, which is available on our Patreon page, she talks about: how she's restarting the local CERT (citizen's emergency response training) training in her unincorporated town (of Los Osos, CA), partially inspired by not having much access out of her area in an emergency; how she and her husband came to leaving Los Angeles for Los Osos, back in 2015/16, after she toured extensively with her documentary on the artist Eva Hesse; the benefits of living in a small town (Los Osos) which she prefers to city life; the lucky circumstances of having a great studio space in a location where you wouldn't expect great studios; why she vastly prefers a studio outside her home; she breaks down the different type of residencies: 1) fully funded plus stipends…2) fully funded, no stipend….3) highly subsidized…4) paying full ride; and finally, she addresses our standard finishing questions: how does she feel like social media in this moment, and how success is defined across various careers in the arts.

Vlad Mykhnenko is Professor of Geography and Political Economy at the University of Oxford and a Fellow of St. Peter's College, Oxford. He is an economic geographer, specialising in geographical political economy. Edition No134 | 25-04-2025 - Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik has been killed in a car bomb attack near Moscow. The most likely suspect for this highly targeted assassination is Ukraine. The elimination of Lieutenant General Yaroslav Moskalik follows that of another senior Russian military figure, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, in December. In that incident, a bomb hidden on an electric scooter parked outside his apartment building exploded as he left for his office. In the latest blast, Moskalik was apparently killed by an explosive device placed in his car in Balashikha, just outside the capital. He was a deputy head of the main operational department in the General Staff of the Russian armed forces.The committee investigating his death have not mentioned potential suspects, but spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko stated that the explosive device was rigged with shrapnel. Russian authorities blamed Ukraine for the killing of Kirillov, and some time later Ukraine's security agency acknowledged it was behind that attack. It's worth noting that enemy combatants are legitimate targets of war. There is no distinction if they are killed on Russian soil, or occupied territory. This would only constitute a war crime if passersby and civilians had been indiscriminately targeted or consciously put in danger. But both the attacks mentioned in this report were extremely surgical and targeted. This rate is likely high enough to effectively dampen US access to the Chinese market. The implication are not clear, and it's unlikely that anyone in the Trump administration has modeled this out in any detail. This announcement comes after the White House clarified it was imposing tariffs totaling 145% on China. This combines the previously announced 125-percent rate with a 20-percent import tax levied for fentanyl smuggling. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt defended Trump's aggressive tariff policy by citing similar measures he took against China during his first term. Evidence of the success from these original policies was not provided. “He effectively implemented tariffs in his first term while driving down the cost of living in this country. And that's what he's focused on doing again,” she said, repeating a GOP talking point. Economists, including from the United Nations have characterized Trump's first-term trade war a “lose-lose” situation.
