In this week's episode, I interview Sophia Babai. Sophia is a writer, embodiment worker, and climate activist. She helps people reconnect to their natural wisdom and heal their relationships with their bodies and their shadows, so they can fall wildly in love with their lives, their planet, and each other. Sophia studied embodiment at Yale University, The Somatic School in London, and the Strozzi Institute. In this week's episode we covered:✨ Organic Intelligence as a somatic practice for trauma resolution, and also for thriving and enjoying your life✨ Sophia's Kundalini practice, and how it works with energy in the body and heals blocks, and again how it encourages embracing love and expressing creativity✨Sophia's journey of being very productivity and achievement focused with 3 jobs and bodily pain to shifting instead towards being present in the moment and feeling pleasure ✨Noticing the moment through the body, e.g. how fabric feels on your skin, stopping to smell the flowers and how that's possible even when you're in pain✨How Sophia's work supports people in letting themselves being loved, coming back to their body and back to the moment✨How energy vampirism shows up in relationships aka when we're giving out of obligation, we are in fact taking from people✨How people who are martyrs, are often terrible at receiving because it doesn't feel safe to receive✨The power of nature when it comes to healing those who worry about taking from others✨Why we need community for healingConnect with Sophia at instagram.com/sophia.babai or tinyurl.com/somatic-guidanceConnect with Caoilfhionn:  https://www.caoinicc.com/about-me-invitation-to-1to1-coaching                         Instagram: @Caoilfhionn.nic.conmara                                                                         Facebook: @CaoiniccJoin her mailing list and download her Free Great Sex Guide here: https://mailchi.mp/f30c2254bf30/greatsxguide

Perfectionism is the belief that everything must be perfect all the time. A perfectionist sets impossible goals, and feels crushed when they are not achieved.Perfectionism can look like:Having a very high standard for yourself. You should achieve goals faster and better than anyone else.Focus on results over the process itself - outcome focusedLiving in a highly critical state Beating yourself up for any mistake dade- making it hard to learn from mistakes because they can be so paralyzing. Your worth is tied to the outcome. What is brainspotting? It's a mind/body therapy that works with your emotion brain instead of your thinking brain. She was abandoned at age 3, and her life wouldn't get any better in the forthcoming years. She experienced all kinds of abuse, from physical to sexual, mental, and even spiritual. It seemed that every person in her life was there to abuse her; friends, lovers, husbands, bosses, and above them all, herself. When our children hurt (emotionally or physically), we simply hurt. One of the hardest jobs as a parent is to discern when to step in and when to let them live through hard seasons. I am so thrilled to introduce you to my very own therapist, Dr. Cassie Reed. Cassie has counseled me and my own children through many seasons. It's taken me years to find a good fit and I am beyond thankful for her wisdom and direction for our family. It is not always clear if our kids are just being kids - or if they are really struggling internally. Listen in as Cassie and I chat about the challenges that come our way as parents. She shares many practical recommendations for us parents. My favorite part is when she talks about the expectations we have for our kids. She challenges us to look inward and really work on ourselves and our own healing journey. She shares how our unrealistic expectations can start to produce extra pressure and anxiety and how to look out for that scenario in our homes. In this episode we chat about: When to see a therapist or counselorWhy counseling is so important for families Two pieces of advice for parents that she wishes we all knewChapters:00:00Introduction and Personal Connection01:36Dr. Cassie Reed's Background and Passion08:35Recognizing the Need for Professional Help10:06Finding Affordable Therapy Options12:55The Impact of Parental Anxiety on Children14:36Setting Boundaries and Recognizing Age-Appropriate Behavior22:26Setting Boundaries and Creating Space for Children23:49Managing Expectations and Apologizing to Children26:19The Impact of Technology on Children's Mental Health27:10Navigating Issues of Gender and Sexual Preferences as Christian Parents29:04Dr. Cassie Reid's Work in Spiritual Abuse Prevention and HealingConnect with Pardon The Mess:Christian ParentingPardon The Mess Courtney DeFeoResources from today's show:CassieReed.comCassie's InstagramChurch Rehab by Dr. Cassie ReedCome HomeGod's Holy Spirit in Me kid's devotionalMy Daddy's HeroPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
