You've never heard this on the Show before... I'm referring to a design tool that most people disregard, even laugh about when they first hear about it. They say it's childish, something you can't take seriously in a professional context. But as you'll hear in today's conversation, this tool holds immense power. Not only that, it helps you better align with your true self and what you truly want to contribute to the world. And the best thing? You already have this tool in your possession. We all do. So, what is this magical tool? It's your dreams. Now, I know what you're thinking. Dreams, really?! But hear me out, it's actually not that crazy. Why do we always talk about design thinking and design doing, and not about design dreaming? If anything, I'd argue that the times we live in demand we dream more to envision a better future. Our amazing guest, Courtney Morgan, helps us tap into the power of our dreams. She shares practical examples of the power of collective dreaming. We address the misconceptions around dreaming and discuss how to get people to tap into and share their dreams in a design process. You'll notice that the conversation doesn't begin with dreams, but we naturally gravitate in that direction and fall down the rabbit hole. So, if you want to go beyond the usual design tools and methods and tap into something truly transformative... make sure you don't miss this episode. A simple practice to become more aware of your dreams is to start writing them down. This is what I've incorporated into my morning routine. Very curious to see what effects this will have in a few months. Enjoy and keep making a positive impact. ~ Marc --- [ 1. The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds in Las Vegas and Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund back in Seattle - got together early Friday morning to put together a nearly hour-long Pac-12 Championship pregame show that outlines what they expect to see in this highly anticipated matchup of two top-5 teams. To start, the guys go back and talk a little bit about what the Huskies and Ducks have done since UW's 36-33 win over Oregon back in mid-October. The Ducks have been flying, while the Dawgs have also found ways to win but in much different ways. They look at the matchup of Oregon's offense, led by Bo Nix against Washington's defense. How much will a player like Tuli Letuligasenoa help to neutralize Oregon's vaunted run offense? And with Washington's rotating cast at safety, how much will a player like Kamren Fabiculanan play? And with the emergence of Tez Johnson, would UW put Jabbar Muhammad on him like Muhammad played slot corner against USC? And how big will the play of Carson Bruener be? After a quick break the line is flipped and the guys talk about Washington's offense against Oregon's defense. What is going on with Michael Penix Jr.? And is it just him or are other factors at play when looking at how the Huskies' offensive numbers have declined the second half of 2023? And where will be the places Washington can attack the Ducks? There's also some coaching carousel talk, especially when it comes to the UW assistants like Ryan Grubb, JaMarcus Shephard, Nick Sheridan, Julius Brown, and Inoke Breckterfield. And is an extension close between Washington and Kalen DeBoer? Scott also provides a recruiting/portal update and talks about the news that Courtney Morgan has been promoted to General Manager? Who will take over as Director of Player Personnel? And don't forget, the Washington Men's Basketball team is playing Colorado State in Las Vegas tomorrow night at 4 pm PT on the CBS Sports Network. Things discussed: Baseball gets robbed: L'ville got six outs in the 8th inning to come back. NCAA is so committed to amateurism they're using local fanboys as umps. Craig lays out his grand conspiracy. Michigan losing on bad officiating, for some reason, is always couch-burning affair in East Lansing. Keeping Eric 'Fire' Bakich: No argument he's the perfect guy for Michigan, but Michigan is in a mid-major conference. Seth: $1.3 million/year in college baseball is Saban to LSU. If Clemson is going to throw money at him to build a rival to UNC, the only way to match that is to commit to changing the paradigm. Sam: Can Michigan Kim Barnes-Arico this? Seth: The difference is you can build a national contender at Michigan in the current WBB landscape; you can't do that with a Big Ten baseball team when you only get three weeks to play home games and 12 scholarships to spread around the roster. The system has to change, and Michigan has to lead. Baseball/softball right now is set up for UCF to have more advantages than Michigan or Notre Dame. The early season tournaments and May tournament are terrible for baseball—even teams in the lower Midlands are screwed by January baseball. Where is Kevin Warren? He should be livid. He should be pulling the Big Ten out of the NCAA. If you let Bakich go, you're conceding you're mid-major. Guess what: We are, unless we change that now. Let's have BASEBALL in this country! CJ Carr to Notre Dame: Michigan lost their momentum by losing both coordinators and Courtney Morgan, and having Harbaugh put proof to the rivals' constant refrain that he doesn't want to be here. The turnover is a feature of the program, and it holds them back. Courtney Morgan is a bigger loss than CJ Carr; this makes Dante Moore more likely. Seth questions whether Mike Hart and Denard Robinson are able to do their jobs, but takes it back: How can they when they haven't been in those positions? Michigan's back-end recruiting was excellent in 2022, though Sam points out a lot of those wins (Dent, Spurlock, Berry) were Courtney Morgan; front-end recruiting is where they're falling behind. Morgan: Wasn't just money. DeBoer was a close friend who made him his right hand man; he wasn't going to be Harbaugh's right hand man.

The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - sat down and went through the Washington news of this past week or so, namely the hiring of the rest of Kalen DeBoer's staff, and also the comings and goings through the transfer portal - and there were a few to talk about. To start with, the Gatorade had barely been dunked by the Fresno State players after their bowl win over UTEP before Washington announced the remaining hires of Kalen DeBoer's coaching staff. This is DeBoer's staff heading into the 2022 season: Kalen DeBoer, head coach Offense: Ryan Grubb, offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach Junior Adams, wide receivers coach Scott Huff, offensive line coach Lee Marks, running backs coach Nick Sheridan, tight ends coach Defense: William Inge, co-defensive coordinator, linebackers coach Chuck Morrell, co-defensive coordinator, safeties coach Inoke Breckterfield, defensive line coach Julius Brown, cornerbacks coach Eric Schmidt, special teams coordinator, defensive ends coach Ron McKeefery, head strength & conditioning coach Courtney Morgan, Director of Player Personnel The Dawgman guys first talk about any surprises from that list, including the coaches that were retained (Huff/Adams), then briefly discuss the general makeup of the offensive staff and speculate as to why DeBoer would want to keep on two offensive coaches from the previous staff considering how poor UW's offense played as a whole in 2021. The next segment took time to speak directly about DeBoer's two significant support hires; Courtney Morgan and Ron McKeefery. How will recruiting fundamentally change from an organizational standpoint? And with the Strength and Conditioning program, will former head S&G man Tim Socha want to stay on, or move away from Seattle? After a quick break to pay some bills, the Dawgman guys come back to talk mostly portal news and recruiting. Washington picked up a couple of players in the portal (Michael Penix, Jr. and Jordan Perryman), while many UW players decided to move on (Sam Taimani, Sawyer Racanelli, Mark Redman, Cooper McDonald, MJ Tafisi). After a quick hoops update, where Washington won their first game back after missing three weeks due to COVID-19 protocols, the Dawgman guys give their final thoughts as they don their Santa caps and wish everyone a happy holiday season. Tough Dallas leaguer, kind of a Michael Barrett where he's linebacker shaped and could move there if QB doesn't work out. Or “backfield TE” just sayin. RB CJ STOKES: Low league. Great balance, serious jump cut, runs good routes and wants to catch the ball a lot. WR TYLER MORRIS: Golden Tate smooth and post-catch burst. Injured this year and no drama in his recruitment or he'd be a top 25 player. Also comped to Garrett Wilson. Great routes. Olympic-caliber high-jumper. (Junior Olympics champion). WR DARRIUS CLEMONS: Huge dude who makes crazy catches and has a “verified” 40 of 4.37. Route running is a work in progress. WR AMORION WALKER: Long, tall, leapy. M has done well with wingspans from the South. TE COLSON LOVELAND: Flex you can play immediately, Erick All potential. Staff enamored. Bama looked. TE MARLIN KLEIN: Receiver build, still rather fresh from Germany, plays in a low-level Georgia league so he's more a Schoonmaker project. OT ANDREW GENTRY: Counting him as a 2022 even though he was in the 2020 class. Crazy Mormon mission story recruitment after that. Stueber comp. OL ALLESSANDRO LORENZETTI: Fell off the recruiting industrial complex tree and hit every blind spot on the way down: Quebecois, mid-career transfer, no junior film, highest-ranked player ever at his school in Connecticut, and extremely short recruitment that didn't reciprocate SEC interest. OL CONNOR JONES: One of us! Comes through the same Colorado OL factory as the rest, going to need some development. Fan favorite. 2. Across the Crooked Blue Line, Defense Front (starts at 43:21) NT KENNETH GRANT: Mammoth, underrated as far as his get-off and agility. Might need some time to develop. OSU slow-played and wished they hadn't when he rose up the rankings. DT MASON GRAHAM: Ryan Glasgow. Can play immediately. DE/DT DERRICK MOORE: National top-50 heavy DE affected by M's late rise, may be a play immediately. We honestly haven't scouted him much yet. EDGE KEVONTE HENRY: Didn't sign with M today, didn't sign with Courtney Morgan's new place either. Uche-level edge-bender they're going to go all-out for down the stretch. EDGE/LB MICAH POLLARD: Popped when scouting someone else, development time, staff might see him at either role. Braylon's nephew, Marcus's son. LB JIMMY ROLDER: Late pop and thank god because they were struggling at MLB this cycle. Athlete in the mold of Ben Gedeon. LB DEUCE SPURLOCK: M had to go back hat in hand but smart player, sideline to sideline, underrated athlete, had to fend off Southern schools late. LB AARON ALEXANDER: Don't know much about him because he was a converted RB then got hurt. Had a good playoffs for Belleville. Also: Belleville. 3. Across the Crooked Blue Line, Defensivee Secondary (starts at 1:06:06) HSP KEON SABB. Brian has the worst memories of Cato June but yeah: linebacker who moves like a safety. Big piece for the amoeba stuff they want to do. S ZEKE BERRY. Lorenz's favorite player of the class. Peppers-like, even on offense. Maybe not as twitch but that sort of player. S DAMANI DENT. Underrated player of the class, nationally. Oregon loved him after he went to their camp. Dax Hill minus the rankings. CB WILL JOHNSON. Ideal cornerback, great upside for a top-20 guy because he can play anywhere in their system, runs WR routes like a WR. CB KODY JONES. “SEC-style” cornerback who just can turn on a dime and competes like mad then goes in the 2nd round. Nickel early? Big recruiting win down the stretch. CB MYLES POLLARD. Every Michigan fan, starting with Josh Newkirk, saw it before Michigan did, but he balls out against top competition. If he was a 4.4 instead of 4.5 guy he'd be Will Johnson. 4. Lightning Round and Superlatives (starts at 1:27:18) 5Q5A: When do they get the bump from the end of this season? When does this secondary take over? Any LB/DE in the mix immediately? Affect of losing of Courtney Morgan? How do they finish? LIGHTNING ROUND: Best player? Best player still on the roster in 4 years? Most underrated? Biggest recruiting win? MUSIC: “Hi, Hey There, Hello”—The Mowgli's “Sorry I Stole Your Man”—Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas “Starman”—David Bowie Also because Across 110th Street will get our Youtubes taken now now, the opener and outro: “The Employee is Not Afraid”—Bear vs. Shark “Ruska Vodka”—Motorboat

It's been a heckuva week on Montlake, and we didn't even get a chance to sneak in some volleyball or soccer news. That's the kind of week it's been for Washington Athletics, and the guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - go over all the major talking points. To start, they go over the most recent coaching hires, as well as the hire of Courtney Morgan to be Washington's new Director of Player Personnel. And who is going to become Washington's Defensive Coordinator? The Huskies have already made one defensive coach hire in cornerbacks coach Julius Brown. And is there a chance DeBoer keeps more of the current staff on? Junior Adams will stay as his receivers coach; could Scott Huff and Ikaika Malloe also stick around? Next, they delve into the transfer portal, the recent departure of Cooper McDonald, and the Jake Haener saga that saw the former UW quarterback enter the portal then back out of it once Jeff Tedford was hired as Kalen DeBoer's replacement at Fresno State. After a quick break to pay some bills, the three get into a recruiting discussion that hits on a few of the key thoughts as Washington heads into the start of the mid-year signing period starting Wednesday. Who are the prospects taking official visits this weekend? We know current UW commit Germie Bernard is one. And who has DeBoer and his staff targeted? There's no question the new staff has some very different recruiting ideas in mind compared to the previous UW staff. The Dawgman guys also talk about the recent UW de-commitments (Jackson Stratton and Chance Bogan), and talk about other available players, depending on if they sign somewhere else starting Wednesday. The recruitniks need to keep watch of the signing lists on Wednesday to see who didn't sign. Could UW target some of them? The next topic is the Oregon coaching search and how it might affect Washington, as well as the rest of the Pac-12. Could the Ducks hire a coach that would make as big a splash as Lincoln Riley did at USC? Or will they struggle to find a replacement for Mario Cristobal? The men's basketball team, in a little over a week, has had a game rescheduled, has had to forfeit a game, and had to cancel their game at Gonzaga this Sunday due to 'COVID-related protocols'. This has not been a great time for Mike Hopkins and the team. They haven't been able to practice. How do they regroup and get back on track before conference play starts back up in late December? Education has always mattered to Black people. Our enslaved ancestors risked their lives to learn what white oppressors withheld. Because those oppressors understood the important role knowledge of ones history, one's world, and oneself plays in Black liberation. Hundreds of years have gone by, and throughout them all, white supremacy has continued the work of suppressing Black education. So what can we do about it? We're sitting down with Dr. Ivory Toldson to find out. Dr. Toldson is the national director of education, innovation and research for the NAACP and has worked as a professor at Howard University for 16 years. Learning is the path forward -- we first have to challenge those barriers block us from it. You've likely heard them before. "Don't get too dark." Or "You look good, have you lost weight?" And even, "Be quiet -- that's not ladylike." These phrases might seem inconsequential, but embedded deep within are messages of anti-Blackness. And they're messages that the most impressionable of us especially internalize: our children. Today we'll unpack three problematic phrases -- and their implicit meanings -- with Farah Jones. They are a multiracial writer, editor, and educator. A former middle and high school teacher, they currently write for various publications and present workshops and trainings around the country focusing on racial and gender justice and community building.
