Elena Armijo joins Rosie to discuss acknowledging and facing your fears. Elena offers in-depth and customized executive programs for high performers who are at the top of their respective fields. She grew up in New Mexico and currently lives in New Jersey. She holds a B.M. of Music Education from New Mexico State University and an M.M. in Vocal Performance from the University of Washington. She was introduced to opera at the New Mexico State University. Through her twenties she traveled the world singing on stages everywhere and met different people and experienced situations she would not have encountered had she stayed in New Mexico. Her opera career spanned ten years. Rosie asks Elena how she uses her opera experiences in her coaching and why she is a coach. Feeling burned out is what led her to seek a change. She was signing non-stop for four years straight. She shares she felt incredibly lucky and grateful for the singing career she created but also lonely and miserable. Guilt plagued her and she hid it. Elena shares she hired a coach and through her work with her coach discovered she built this amazing career from a sense of proving - her worth to her parents, community and herself. It's simply not true that working really really hard is the only way to feel safe, loved and respected. When she realized this she knew she had to change her story. She describes participating in a transformational program about transforming yourself from the inside out. Elena shares through this program she basically fell in love with herself! Rosie affirms that Elena came to her journey facing her fears. Rosie believes that as business owners you get the best out of your life when you face your fears. The courageous part is that the end result is more meaningful than what that fear means right now. Rosie circles back around to what Elena said about falling in love with herself and notes that it is such a powerful tool. Elena shares that for her it was breaking down some of the things she watched her mother, grandmother and great grandmother model. Through self love she's learned she needs to take care of herself first such as getting 8 hours of sleep, walking her dog or going on a hike. She gives to herself before she takes care of anyone else. As women, we are not taught to do this. Elena notes that not taking care of you is doing a disservice not only to you but those around you. They don't get the best version of you. Elena believes self love is taking care of yourself at a level that allows you to experience your life deeply instead of just working or being here to get through your life. Elena shares her path to coaching happened because she fell in love with something as much as she loved music. Having something that you love actually be the thing you step into fully has created everything for her over the past 8 years for her. She attributes her success to consistency and practicing some of the same techniques she used as an entrepreneur in the opera world. What she loves is bringing a creative brain into coaching particularly in areas of business she knows nothing about. She reminds people in these spaces that they are creative human beings and that there are other ways of thinking. Initially, Elena's biggest challenge was letting go of the imposter syndrome. Her current challenge as a six-figure business woman is to really own what she has created and step into this leveling up in her life. Old stories do resurface around guilt and did she work hard enough. Elensa shares she recognizes the old stories and has made friends with them. Most importantly, she doesn't let them make decisions for her! Rosie closes by thanking Elena for sharing her story and a quote from John Ship she included in her book, “Perseverance is stubbornness with a purpose.” #Self-care #Coaching #Opera #Mindset #CertifiedCoach #facingfears Elena Armijo Website │ LinkedIn │ Facebook │ Instagram

Direct Connection Network became more successful due to the pandemic. It became the instrument for her to communicate with her customers, clients, and friends. She helps a lot of businesspeople to expand and to be known for their products using social media marketing. Many of us were devastated by covid and some businesses were shut down. Mona recommends that everyone “finds that thing that sets them apart and everybody else”, and utilize that to build their business and especially their social media presence. A new year means new guests! Rosie opens with a blessing for her followers: May the Lord bless you and keep. May the Lord make his face shine upon you. May the LOrd be gracious upon you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. - Numbers 6:24-26 NKJV The first quarter is dedicated to the topic of purpose and with that in mind Rosie's first guest is Ewelina Konyndyk, a Life Coach for Polish born immigrants in the US. As a first generation immigrant from Poland, she is the Life Coach she needed when she came to the US. In her practice she helps clients develop relationships with themselves based on self love, compassion and self awareness. She teaches them to develop tools to manage the mind and emotions. Clients quickly shift from feeling discouraged, disconnected, insecure and overwhelmed to calm and empowered. To understand how Ewelina became a life coach Rosie asks Ewelina to share a bit of her personal story. In January 2005, Ewelina immigrated from Poland to Michigan to work as an au pair and travel across the US. The plan was not to stay in the US. However, while in Michigan she met her husband and things instantly changed. She felt a very special connection with him and just knew she had to stay. She expected for things to just fall into place, but they didn't. She struggled with living in the US even with a supportive husband and job in photography she loved. She struggled with finding her identity in the US. She resented not being able to use her graduate training as a Polish Language teacher. She had a clear vision of who she was and would become in Poland, but no clear self identity in the US. Her life was not unfolding as she imagined it. This tension caused years of suffering. Deep inside she felt confused, ashamed, and angry. Rosie shared that she could relate and holding on to one's ego prevents them from appreciating the many opportunities available to one in the US. The turning point in Ewelina's journey was when she decided she had to return to Poland. While her husband and his family were supportive, it was a tough decision. She felt that if she could just return home things would become clearer. If she could just meditate in Poland, then she'd get the answers she needed. She sold her car, quit her job and purchased a one-way ticket. Then, after two weeks of mediating and seeking answers she got an answer. And it was to return to the US! This only caused her to go deeper into crisis. Now, she began to question her higher guidance, not just her identity. She did not return to the US but instead stayed in Poland living with her grandmother for three months. Eventually she met with a healer. Sure enough the healer told her to return to the US! In 2011, she returned to the US not only to her husband and his family but to a job she had prayer for. Rosie shares that it is so important to write down our desires and be specific in what you want. Today, Ewelina believes that her journey was filled with unnecessary drama and could have been avoided if she had a good life coach. She was confused and needed clarity. She needed someone who would ask deep questions and not stop pushing when the answer they hear is “I don't know.” Becoming a life coach happened naturally. She has always been a great listener, the person people confided in, and into self-improvement. So, she took upon herself to become a certified life coach. She obtained her most recent certification in March of 2021 though she has been a certified life coach for years. You can connect with Ewelina at www.lifecoachforimmigrants.com, on Facebook where she hosts a private group called Wise Women Immigrants, and lastly, her podcast called Empowerment for Immigrants. The show ends with a quote from Rosie “ Clarity is one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself, Clarify gives you power”. #Immigration #Immigrants #IdentityCrises #Clarity #Prayer Ewelina Konyndyk Facebook │ Youtube │ LinkedIn │ Website

Gender is not the basis for the capacity of a person. In this episode of Cafecito with Rosie, we will be able to learn about the life of Sarahi Terreforte and how she becomes more successful in her career. Sarahi Terreforte is a Licensed Real Estate Agent in the Tampa Bay area. Ms. Terreforte is the creator and founder of Latinas on the Go, a women empowerment movement, focused on promoting professional growth, leadership, and change within our Latino community. Sarahi also serves on the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, striving to progress in all efforts within the growth of our Tampa Bay community. Ms. Terreforte is passionate about helping the community and creating a difference in people's lives. Being in a real estate career you need to be genuine and honest. You need to help the family and not just sell but also assist, advise, and guide them through the whole process of purchase. It needs work of ethics, integrity, and knowledge of what you are doing. Sarahi prayed and waited a long time before she created Latina on the Go, which she needed for her community. She created it because she experienced being underestimated as a Latina millennial. The mission of Latina on the Go is to open a new platform for aspiring and stable women, promoting leadership and professional development and change. Not just in women but also in giving back to the community, reaching out to events, and donating to non-profit organizations. She said that “there is nothing more fulfilling than giving back to those who need it.” Being a commissioner on the status of women, she will be a voice for empowering women in her community. In this episode of Rosie Paulsen, we will talk about elder law together with our guest Edmund Spinks. T. Edmund Spinks, the founder of Spinks Law Firm, has been practicing law in the area of elder law, social security, veteran's benefits, and disability law for 20 years. Before practicing law, Mr. Spinks joined the Army as a smoke operations specialist and served in the Gulf War as a nuclear, biological, and chemical sergeant. Following his service in the Army, he was trained and certified as a firefighter and emergency medical technician (EMT) in Florida. He was employed by the Polk County fire department, where he became one of the founding members of the local FireFighter Union, IAFF 3531. It's important that while you're still young you need to plan ahead, because we cannot predict what opportunity is ahead of us and we need to prepare for the worst ahead of time. The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the next best time is now. Its the same with estate planning. The capacity to understand is a very big deal as Edmund said. Once you lose your capacity and can't understand the will you are signing, you can't sign documents, and you can't make important decisions. Prior planning isn't only important for your golden years, it's also important in case of catastrophic illness or injury. Disability can happen and when it does, do you have a plan to take care of yourself? Planning for the unknown is a challenge, but it doesn't need to be. Disability Medicare is a social security practice that helps families to shoulder their adult disabled person. It is very important to plan ahead for those who have special needs, to save money, and set the needs without interfering with government benefits. Spinks Law Firm can assist you in planning for the possibility that one day your loved one will no longer be able or eligible to make important financial and health care decisions on their own. #Law #Disability #Counsel #SocialSecurity #Capacity T. Dr. Nehal Gheewala, Associated Chief Medical Officer with Dedicated Senior Medical Center, provides tips every senior needs to optimize both health outcomes and satisfaction with their doctors. Dr. Gheewala has always had a passion for working with aging patients. These experiences inspired him to pursue a career as a geriatrician. “I always advocate for my patients,” says Dr. Gheewala. “I pride myself in managing chronic diseases while maintaining my patient's mobility, reducing their medication burden, and avoiding hospital stays.” He often gives out his cell number as do many of the doctors at the Center. The elderly patient population often want to spend more time with their doctor and Dr. Gheewala finds ways of doing that. Answering a call or sending a text develops a relationship with his patients, which in turn aids in improving their health. In this month of June, Dr. Gheewala and Rosie talk about heart disease and specifically risk factors for this disease. The heart does change as we age and there are risk factors associated with heart disease. Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in 65 and older, both men and women. Most heart conditions fall under coronary artery disease or CAD. CAD causes heart attack, heart failure, chest pain, and irregular heartbeats. When he sees new patients he does a complete physical head to toe and listens to their heart and lungs, and looks at their skin, legs and neck. This can tell me a lot about how the heart is functioning. Ask them about their symptoms - what makes things worse or better. There are risk factors so we look at high blood pressure, diabetes, trouble with kidneys, and cholesterol levels. All this relates back to diet. So, zooming out is key. Asking lifestyle questions is necessary. How often are they walking? What are they eating? Answers coupled with the patient's symptoms aids him in treating patients and determining if lab work or imaging is necessary. Doctor and patient work together to determine next steps. This relationship is “sacred” and guides the best outcome. At the Center, doctors focus on this heavily. Preventive medicine is a highly recommended practice for everyone. How do we stop things from happening? How do we slow things down so people can have more health days and less sick days? Avoidance of anything that could be causing the problem is necessary such as poor dietary habits, smoking, lack of exercise, and other risk factors. Dr. Gheewala says we can stop things before they happen. That is the secret sauce in all of this he says. Rosie shares that there are Medicare insurances that are specific to this type of disease. These are called chronic conditions plans but not all insurance companies under Medicare will offer them. As an insurance broker, she completes a health risk assessment form on clients and submits it for review. A physician verifies the form and signs off on it. The relationship between the patient, doctor, and insurance company is important to make sure that people in the community are taken care of. In closing, Dr. Gheewala shares tips for taking care of our hearts. Staying active is number 1. Make sure you are exercising every day - get your blood flowing each day. Walking 30 minutes each day is important. Watch what you eat. Control your portions and avoid fried, fatty foods. Make your meals at home and cut out salt in our diet. The rule of thumb is wherever salt goes, water does. Salt can cause swelling. Look for sodium on nutrition facts, not just salt. Stop smoking. Watch your cholesterol too. See your doctor frequently. This relationship is key. Rosie closes with thanking Dr. Gheewala for his time and encourages anyone looking for a primary doctor to visit Dedicated Senior Medical Center at www.dedicated.care. Lastly, she read an excerpt from her book, “highly engaged people are instinctive ambassadors and trusted sources. They are willing to go above what is required not because you told them to but because they want to.” Surround yourself with similarly minded people and in doing so you will be successful. Stay pure. Stay positive. Today, Dr. Susan Truong and Rosie will talk about the purpose of life and how important it is to the optometrist. Dr. Truong and her family immigrated to Florida in the mid-1970s from Vietnam, with almost no money and unable to speak English. Her parents impressed upon her and her four younger brothers that education is a way out of poverty. Susan's determination, hard work, and talent led her to where she is today: a successful optometrist with multiple practices, who has been featured in magazines and news articles. Now, she dedicates her life to leading others to SEE BEYOND 20/20, helping them better live into their vision, which helps them transform that vision into reality. Her life is an example of being in the right place at the right time, making the most of your opportunities while things are happening, persevering through adversity, and meeting challenges with gratitude. She's passionate about empowering people of the world to have clarity and live a life beyond 20/20. No one said that your vision has to stop at 20/20. Your vision should be so big that it scares you. If this poor girl from Vietnam can do it, then so can you!” Dr. Truong believes “a patient is not a set of eyeballs sitting in my exam chair” they have their purpose in life. Most people are just existing, but existing is not living and we get One chance, One Life, and One time to make a difference. You should wake up everyday and ask yourself “Am I going to make a difference today? And how am I going to do it? In life, we are not everybody's cup of tea, we can overcome this by having confidence within ourselves, knowing our purpose and our core values. Dr Troung added that “Each of us has been anointed with our own unique gifts” that we can use to impact the people around us. This show is about inspiring others to be the best that they can be and if you have not found your purpose yet, then start somewhere. If you feel like you are just existing, then Dr. Truong recommends starting with your Why? (If it doesn't make you cry, it's not your Why.) Why do you wake up everyday and do what you do? Rosie suggests that your Why should scare you but not stop you. Rosie and Dr Truong remind us that being thankful is important. You should live your life with an attitude of gratitude. Start each morning by opening your eyes, and then quickly list in your head 3 things or people that you are grateful for this sets the tone for the rest of the day. Rosie reminds us that “ when you become or are aiming to be a leader in your community, try to remember that people are more attractive to a positive person”. Start with a positive attitude because it is a choice. Start with gratitude, positivism, loving yourself, and be grateful for your circumstances whatever we do and everything will follow accordingly. Many people don't plan for what tomorrow could bring. In this episode, together with the host Rosie Paulsen and our guest Lori Vella, we will talk about what the best thing to do is, especially for elders, for the future of their children and everything they have when they can't manage the fruits of labor anymore and want to preserve the family legacy. Lori is the founder of the Law Office of Lori Vella (www.lorivella.com), an estate planning, probate, and business law firm serving both Florida and New York. Lori created Florida Lawyer Online, a free virtual course portal to educate the public on wills, trusts, and other related topics. She is the author of The Live-On Project, a book that encourages parents to be forthright and write to their children to preserve the family legacy. An avid volunteer, Lori serves on the board of Carrollwood Players and is an organic gardener at VISTA Gardens. Probate is the legal process that's used to settle a deceased person's estate and pay their final bills and taxes. If you have too many open probate lawsuits at the time of your passing, the state can step in and claim all of your assets. Planning for probate is essential when you're writing your last will & testament so that there's no ambiguity about distribution. As part of care planning, doctors should discuss Do-Not-Resuscitate orders with seriously ill patients and their families. DNR orders are especially important for terminally ill people living in the community who only want comfort care and no resuscitation if their heart or breathing were to stop. Rosie says that “the less issues that happen when all emotions are going by is better, it's actually a peace of mind and a gift as you leave to your family.” Whatever your wishes may be, you can do so much to protect your family and make things easier for them after your death. Lori Vella Law Firm is focused on making pre-planning simple so that you can rest easy knowing that your loved ones are covered. The firm offers pre-plans with a password to secure your testament and discounts for all single moms, dads, and senior citizens. As the show comes to an end, Rosie states that you need to figure out your priorities. Connect to them and remember that the first priority is “YOU.” By studying the day, by loving yourself, we can love others. Remember, for peace of mind, start every single day with meditation. By loving yourself it is you who set you up for a pure, positive, and inspiring day; put your family first and this court will tell you how you have to do it. “Patience, persistence, and perspiration make an unbeatable combination or success”. Coronary heart disease affects 18.2 million Americans, according to 2017 data. Heart disease is also the top cause of mortality in those aged 65 and over. With this alarming trend, senior patients are encouraged to change their lifestyles for better health. Dr. Susan Crowe, a Family Medicine Board Certified physician, is assisting patients in making incremental adjustments to their health. She has loved caring for others since she was a child, exactly like what her mother did as a nurse. She currently works with the Dedicated Senior Medical Center in Lakeland. Florida. Heart disease education has been a priority at the Dedicated Senior Medical Center. Patients above the age of 65 are at a higher risk of developing cardiac problems. Dr. Susan claims that heart illness is more than just chest pain and heart surgery. Other minor indicators that might originate from cardiac disorders are frequently observed by doctors. Rosie mentions that her husband was suspected of having hereditary heart problems and that they are progressively changing their habits with the support of physicians. Due to heredity and a sedentary lifestyle, everyone could experience heart diseases such as Coronary Artery Disease, Cardiomegaly, or Arrhythmia. Senior citizens are prone to these heart diseases that could lead to heart attack or worst, death. That is why, throughout the first two weeks of a patient's stay, doctors at the Dedicated Senior Medical Center do an echocardiogram. This is to detect cardiac issues or mild signs of cardiovascular disease. Dr. Susan also emphasizes the value of including family members in consultations so that they may assist with lifestyle adjustments. Patients should maintain a healthy weight to avoid cardiac issues. Although weight should vary from person to person, it should never exceed the normal BMI. Blood pressure is also an important element to consider. CAD can also be caused by high levels of bad cholesterol. Dyslipidemia is caused by a combination of high bad cholesterol and low good cholesterol. Patients should keep an eye on their blood sugar levels since metabolic syndrome can develop if both blood sugar and bad cholesterol become an issue. Diabetes used to be a condition that only affected adults; currently, children as young as eight years old can get juvenile diabetes. This is due to the sugary meals ingested by youngsters and their lack of active habits. Dr. Susan is concerned about children who simply sit and consume their snacks, as the effect is similar to that of smoking. Rosie went on to say that parents should be taught about how their dietary choices and habits affect their children's life. Dr. Crowe agrees, adding that sugary foods are great rewards, but only for a tiny fraction and every family must make the transition to a better diet and a more active lifestyle. #Doctor #HeartDisease #Prevention #Medication #Cardiologist #JuvenileDiabetes #HeartAttack #Weight Dr. Susan Crowe Facebook │ Website │ LinkedIn
Tony Selvaggio is an award winning social entrepreneur who turned an old laptop into a thriving business. He joins Rosie to talk about his life experiences and how through his company he is able to give back to the community. Tony was born and raised in Venezuela and raised by immigrant parents as neither of them were from Venezuela. After graduating, Tony was employed by a relative who sponsored his US visa in exchange for working for the family member's recycling company. After a year and a half, Tony was recruited by another metal scrap company as a metal scrap buyer. During this time he met his wife and they now have two girls. After working on both the buying and selling sides of the metal scrap sector, Tony took a chance and started his own company with $8000 and no back up plan as he had resigned from his previous position. However, that was not the original plan. He was initially to start a small scrap yard company with investors from Venezuela. Unfortunately, the economy in Venezuela took a significant downturn and the investors no longer could help him start his business. He wasn't going to let this stop him. So, he moved ahead anyway and started his company, eSmartRecycling, in 2014. The company is a technological waste recycling company with a focus on solving electronic waste pollution. He shares that he shifted from focusing on metal waste to electronic waste because in 2014 electronic waste was such a hot topic. He thought he would capitalize on this and use the same buying and selling skills he acquired in the scrap metal sector to electronic waste. Tony visited numerous networking groups in order to establish a presence. It was during one of these events that he met his first client. The company had upgraded their computers and had 20 computers sitting around with no idea what to do with them. Tony shared he could take them. Well, a week later he is at another networking event when he is approached by a non-profit agency representative asking him if they could buy affordable computers from him as they knew he had access to used computers. As an immigrant, he was shocked to find out that there was such a gap in access to resources like computers here in the US. Therefore, he decided that rather than sell them the computers he would refurbish 10 of them for free and keep 10 to sell them and make a profit. It was a win-win for both companies. The prospect of bringing two different businesses together enthralled Tony. He also felt it was a unique business model that bridged the gap between businesses and individual needs. Over time Tony worked to perfect this business model. Rosie admires Tony's approach to giving back to the community. When Tony was asked what youth should be taught, he firmly suggested entrepreneurship. Rosie recalled that Tony had asked her to judge a middle school competition where students demonstrated their ingenuity through a recycling entrepreneurial idea. The competition not only teaches children about the necessity of recycling but also provides them with a sense of entrepreneurship. Tony's community aided him in achieving his potential when he was just starting out. He claims that becoming active in the community helps in the formation of long-term relationships. Currently, Tony is involved in local communities such as Young Professional Organization, Chamber of Commerce, HBIF (now known as Prospera), and Small Business Development Center. Before ending, Tony did recommend the listeners to form professional ties with persons they admire in their community. #Immigrant #Community #Leader #Recycling #Scraps #Technology #Children #OutreachProgram Tony Selvaggio Email │ Website │ Facebook
Steve Jobs defined innovation as the ability to recognize change as an opportunity rather than a threat. Change is necessary for progress, yet we are hesitant to make the change since it would take us out of our comfort zone. However, for the sake of our future, we must move with the times. Patrick Slevin shares his perspective on public relations in this episode of Cafecito with Rosie. In 1996, Patrick served as mayor of Tampa Bay City of Safety Harbor, Florida. He maintained his corporate career after leaving government service, assisting corporate leaders in turning NIMBY (not in my backyard) crises into political successes. Patrick and Rosie are fond of the Tampa Bay area. It's a terrific spot, according to Patrick, because it's just 90 minutes away from most destinations. Patrick added that there is a richness of leadership and knowledge capital that simply makes Tampa the finest place to live in the state As an experienced politician, Patrick stated that in order to get elected, one must sincerely care about the community. If a politician is primarily interested in themselves, their careers, or generating money, they should avoid public service. People should only vote for candidates that are a good representation of themselves. Patrick has never run again for office because he believes he has already accomplished everything he wants for the community. ”Never Lose to NIMBY Opposition Again!: Master the Secrets, Strategies, and Solutions to Turn a NIMBY Crisis into Your Finest Hour,” by Patrick Slevin, was intended to help developers and companies avoid making the same mistakes again. Developers frequently disregard community leaders in favor of concentrating on their projects or obtaining a license. It causes several issues including NIMBY situations. The core of the book stems from his political experiences and firsthand knowledge of how things work in Safety Harbor and Pinellas County. Patrick Slevin wants to be recognized as someone who is driven to make a point. He does put a lot of effort into establishing a good first impression on behalf of his clients. Patrick is currently the president of a local business association that represents a few hundred small businesses. Patrick is a homebody when he is not working or traveling. He enjoys golfing and riding. He has competed in Death Race among 100 other athletes to have fun and challenge himself. #NIMBY #SmallBusiness #Leadership #DeathRace #Homebody #Politics #Capitalist #PublicRelations Patrick Slevin Email │ Website │ Facebook │ LinkedIn │ YouTube │ Book │ Twitter
Our lives were turned completely upside down by the pandemic. Now we know that nothing is permanent, and those unexpected events may occur at any time. Insurance could help you secure your family's future, yet it is still taboo for most people. Ana Dominguez de Shaw is the guest in the 22nd episode of Cafecito with Rosie. She had a thriving business in Mexico before relocating to the United States in 2015. Her best friend informed her about the need for insurance when she was 28 years old. Ana, like many others, had doubts regarding insurance. She didn't understand the value of preparing ahead until her best friend gave her the first year of an insurance policy as a present. When her best friend died in a vehicle accident, she discovered that accidents happen even when we don't want to think about them. Currently, Ana is a licensed New York life insurance agent and leads Babel Networking. Ana and Rosie are both experts in the field of insurance. They both agree that insurance is a necessary investment. On the market today, there is more than just life and health insurance. People have the ability to leave a legacy. An educational fund or investment will help a grandparent leave a legacy and provide their grandkids an advantage in life. Ana, like Rosie, is the mother of a lively kid. Her son is her greatest delight. Every time she sees him smile it brightens her day. Rosie agrees because she still considers her son to be her baby, despite the fact that he is 26 years old. Ana previously owned and operated a thriving business in Mexico for ten years. Even though she is multilingual, she admits that there was still a linguistic barrier when moving to the US. Furthermore, the regulations and standards in the United States and Mexico are vastly different. Ana, on the other hand, claims that the business's growth strategy hasn't changed. Her primary marketing tactic is still relationship building. She had been cultivating lifetime friendships before she realized it, as evidenced by her bridesmaids, who were mostly her high school and kindergarten buddies. The aim of networking groups is to build relationships, but individuals are increasingly expected to come to the meeting and pitch their products. That's why Anna and a Mexican friend founded Babel Networking to assist individuals in forming meaningful connections. It began as an in-person gathering prior to the pandemic and has now evolved into a virtual event. The expansion is remarkable since they now have three chapters - Spanish, Morning, and Night. Before the end, Ana wanted to say to her younger self that she should understand people's behavior and never take anything for granted. She must also learn to know herself better and recognize the gifts that God has given her in order to accomplish her God-given mission. #Insurance #Mexican #Networking #Friendship #Mother #Latina #BuildingRelationship #Pandemic ANA DOMINGUEZ DE SHAW Email │ Website │ Facebook │ LinkedIn
Dr. Dan McCarter was born and raised in a small town. His mother was a registered nurse. At the age of 12, he administered insulin shots to his diabetic grandmother who had bad eyes. He ended up with this responsibility because there were times his mother was working at the hospital and couldn't do it herself. As a result, this led to a desire to serve others and practice medicine.Today, he is the National Director of Primary Care Advancement of ChenMed and practices in Virginia. Despite the favorable benefits of the COVID-19 vaccination being backed by science and medical professionals, many people are still dubious and afraid to get the shot. That is why Dr. Dan McCarter and ChenMed work together to educate individuals, especially senior patients who are in dire need of immunizations right now. Dr. Daniel McCarter discusses the necessity of immunizations for everyone in this episode of Cafecito with Rosie. ChenMed values building relationships with its patients by assisting them and getting to know them on a personal level. As a result, nationally 70% of the patient population received flu vaccines. In addition, nationally 70% of patients are from minority groups, and 30% are eligible for Medicare or Medicaid, indicating that they have a low income. Chenmed's patients are mostly senior citizens with moderate to low incomes. As a result, when they decide to open community vaccination clinics, they do so in a community that requires immediate assistance. Dr. Dan shared an experience with a patient that had to travel 20 miles to get a vaccination, which was a huge challenge for him as he didn't have transportation. Fortunately, the clinic was able to arrange transportation for the patient to receive his vaccination as well as medical consultation. Vaccination is important, according to Dr. McCartner. He stated that everyone should get immunized as soon as feasible, and that they must do it in a fair manner. He also mentioned that, despite the fact that most vaccines are 95 percent effective against severe diseases, there is still a 5% chance of hospitalization. Wearing a mask is still required to protect unimmunized people from contracting the virus. Even Dr. Dan always wears a mask to protect his patients, who are mostly seniors. In a few months, CDC would propose a less rigorous approach to wearing masks. If there are only 10 people at a family event, Dr. Dan says it's fine to go as long as everyone gets vaccinated. If there are people who aren't members of the household, protocol like wearing masks should be strictly followed. To be fully immunized, Dr. Dan recommends waiting two weeks after the second dose of Moderna or Pfizer vaccine and two weeks after the first shot of Johnson & Johnson vaccine. People of color, according to the data, are hesitant to get vaccines. It's a reasonable concern, especially for African Americans, who have good reason to be wary of the government. People of color, on the other hand, are more likely to catch and spread the virus because they tend to live in more crowded areas. Since people of color were included in both the intervention and placebo groups during the vaccine trial, Dr. Dan assures us that Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are safe for them. ”What is the most effective vaccine?” Rosie inquired before the end of the episode. Dr. Dan replied that the best vaccine is the one you get first, and the least effective vaccine is the one you don't get. Dr. Dan said that his 74-year-old sister-in-law received Moderna and his 72-year-old sister, who resided in West Virginia, received Pfizer. He emphasizes that both Pfizer and Moderna are 95% effective, so it makes no difference which brand you choose. Dr. Dan reminded the listeners that they should never wait for the brand they want; instead, they should take the first available option. #Immunization #Vaccine #Covid19 #Senior #HealthCare #Medicare #Medicaid #Doctors #Patients Dr. Dan McCarter Email │ Website │ Facebook │ LinkedIn │ Twitter
”Your brand is what other people say about you when you're not in the room” -Jeff Bezos. Branding is more than just a color palette, font style, and templates. It is your reputation and how people see and feel about you. So, investing in yourself is a great way to boost branding. In this episode of Cafecito with Rosie, brand strategist and TEDx speaker Cheryl Pullins guested to enlighten us about branding. Cheryl moved to Florida in early 2010. During the recession, she couldn't find a job and ended up pursuing a business model that she was passionate about and monetized it. She worked in the corporate world for more than 20 years. Eventually, she became a certified life coach. Cheryl is currently a recognized personal brand strategist, author, and TEDx speaker. As a brand strategist, Cheryl loves how visions become reality. One of her first clients was a hair stylist with a vision of having an academy or educational institution to teach other hair stylists to earn more. After the hair stylist got injured, she started the school with the help of Cheryl, and now she successfully runs the institution. Rosie and Cheryl talked about the importance of being multifaceted. Cheryl asserts that we are wired not to do one thing alone. If you want to clearly deliver your message, it doesn't have to be stuck on doing a single thing. We can do more than one thing and still relay our message. Being multifaceted can help a lot, as it reaches more audiences through different means. The embodiment of a go-giver is how Rosie describes Cheryl. Every time Cheryl gives, she gives more. Cheryl says that she does such things because there are other people that get stuck on how to implement them. That's why she helps them and makes herself available to them. After all, implementation is not an easy leap. Although it was on her vision board, being a TEDx speaker was unexpected for Cheryl. Before her official TEDx event, she was approached by a colleague to speak at a TEDx event for women, but it didn't materialize. After 10 months, she spoke for 200 women who work in the department of corrections in the state of Pennsylvania. After a week, she received an email inviting her to speak at the first ever TEDx event held at a women's prison. She was the only invited speaker from outside the prison system. Cheryl believes that this could never have happened if she had not shown up and spoken, even without pay. After all, you never know who will listen to you. Cheryl is passionate about branding. She stated that to start your brand, you must clearly know who you are. Your brand is experiential for your audience, and it shows in how they feel about your social media posts and you professionally. But you must also understand who you are, what you do, who you do it for, and why your target audience should care about you in order to develop a strong brand. It must also be visible because the truth is out of sight, out of mind. Towards the end, Cheryl and Rosie talk about the importance of a vision board. They both say that it is a source of inspiration, but that alone won't do anything. Cheryl suggests that listeners use a vision board in conjunction with setting down their goals and missions for the following 90 days or a year, allowing the vision board to motivate them and assist them in walking the walk. #Branding #Business #Passion #Implementation #TEDx #Speaker #Multifacet #VisionBoard Cheryl Pullins Email │ Website │ Facebook │ LinkedIn │ YouTube │ Instagram
William McKissock was born and raised in the south-west of Scotland. It is a friendly, Scottish-speaking neighborhood with a great view of the mountain. Just like anywhere in the northern hemisphere, Scotland is always freezing. When he moved to the Tampa Bay area 11 years ago, he was fascinated with how different the weather was. Unlike his Scottish-speaking neighborhood, Tampa Bay offers a mix of people from different cultures. Rosie met William at Lincoln Local, which is an in-person networking event. As social animals, they love meeting new people. William works at Schooley Mitchell. It is an independent, family-owned expense reduction company that has its main office in Ontario, Canada. Schooley Mitchell investigates the cost data and recommends optimized and cost-effective solutions for services such as telecom, merchants, small package and shipping couriers, waste, electronic logging devices, e-signature, utilities, and fuel. In their 22 years in business, they have had over 25,000 clients from whom they get their excellent database to benchmark. In doing business with Schooley Mitchell, there is no risk of losing anything because of their no-saving, no-charge policy. As a cost reduction consultant, William McKissock often networks to educate people about their service. He talks with the CFOs and CEOs of companies to analyze their costs and figure out what he can do to save them money. If businesses agree, William and Schooley Mitchell will talk to vendors on the company's behalf to secure the best pricing option. This involves accessing billing statements and contracts. Before moving to the United States, William worked with Scotland's local government and helped local companies and groups access funding for their projects. He has a passion for business development and for seeing business owners achieve their goals while cutting costs. He loves seeing businesses he works with prosper. During the pandemic, William says most sales have done down and naturally businesses are looking for help to drive sales back up. However, he says that another way to protect their profit is to look at their costs. Rosie and William agreed that COVID-19 has created a different avenue for doing business. In this episode of Cafecito with Rosalie, Dr. Kumar continued to talk about the COVID-19 vaccines and how partnering with doctors could provide better health. Dr. Ajoy Kumar and the Dedicated Senior Medical Center wanted to improve the quality of life of seniors. Amid the pandemic, they are helping seniors through education about COVID vaccinations. Dr. Ajoy Kumar talks about the possible side effects of taking the COVID vaccine. Side effects could include local reaction of pain, swelling, and redness on the vaccinated arm. This could last for a few hours, and you could take Tylenol and drink a lot of fluids to minimize the effect. There is also a systemic reaction that could be felt in your whole body, but this varies person-to-person. A systemic reaction could include fever, fatigue, headache, body aches, and joint pain. It is reported that 82–89% of the vaccinated population have experienced at least one local symptom. 55 to 83% also reported that they experienced one systemic reaction that was of mild to moderate severity in the first three days after the vaccine, and usually it was resolved within 1-3 days. Dr. Kumar also reiterated that symptoms vary person to person. Some people have never experienced post-vaccine symptoms while others have. To ensure their safety after vaccination, people are expected to wait 15 to 30 minutes after their shots to ensure that they don't have a severe allergic reaction, which is sometimes evident by difficulty breathing. Most vaccines have polyethylene glycol (PEG) components, and only a minority of people are allergic to such components. Dr. Kumar stated that vaccinated people shouldn't worry as medical staff are on hand to deal with any symptoms that may arise. Dr. Kumar is vaccinated as he believes that doctors should be a role model for their patients. He advises every patient to never mix and match COVID vaccine shots. Dr. Kumar also said that people should not let their finances be an obstacle to getting vaccinated since a lot of states, non-government organizations, and insurance companies cover the cost of the COVID vaccine. Rosie asked about the do's and don'ts for vaccinated people. Dr. Kumar said that there is nothing different for them to do as we have not yet achieved herd immunity. The goal is to have 70% to 90% of the US population vaccinated . Currently, Florida has 3,437,933 vaccinations administered. To date, 1,082,141 people are fully vaccinated. Amazingly, females outnumbered males. Of the fully vaccinated, only 106,530 are Hispanic, 55,090 are Afro-American, and only 3,717 vaccinated individuals are American-Indian. Given this information we could assume that Florida is falling behind as most of its people are still unvaccinated due to fear of the vaccine. Therefore, he shared that educating and empowering people about vaccinations is key. Help people feel less scared about the COVID vaccine and by doing so we can achieve herd immunity sooner. Dr. Ajoy asserts that until we achieve herd immunity, we still have to accept the new normal. To go back to the pre-COVID situation, we need everyone's effort. Dr. Kumar believes that repeated vaccinations would occur since we don't know how long the variants and vaccines will be effective. Soon everyone will get booster shots like those for the flu and pneumonia. Dr. Kumar shared that the death rate is higher among people over 65 years old. Dr Kumar's family members are very afraid to go out, but he advises them to be vigilant rather than scared. As Covid related protocols are less restrictive at this time, people should still remain vigilant, especially when attending outside events. Dr. Kumar wants everyone to be less afraid of the virus and instead be mindful and aware of it and your surroundings. He advises that if there are only 6–10 people at an event, you should attend and keep your distance and wear a mask. If there are more than 10 people, he discourages anyone from attending, even if it is a family gathering. Such events can become super spreaders. He also encourages people to walking outdoors with a mask on. Dr. Ajoy Kumar and the Dedicated Senior Medical Center work to make the lives of senior patients better. They take care of the elderly and serve them like VIPs. Rather than having a transactional relationship, Dr. Kumar and the Dedicated Senior Medical Center want to have a transformational relationship. He believes they are achieving that through their current efforts around COVID. #SeniorCare #Patient #Senior #Coronavirus #Covid19 #Vaccine #SevereIllness #HerdImmunity #EmergencyUseAuthorization #Indian #CareerChange #Advocacy Email │ Website │ Facebook
In this episode of Cafecito with Rosie, Dr. Ajoy Kumar discussed the benefits and kinds of vaccines available in the USA. Dr. Kumar was born in southern India and moved to the United States when he was five years old. His parents divorced, and he and his single mother moved from one place to another before settling in Washington, DC. He aspired to be a member of the CIA or the FBI, but after his first volunteer mission, he fell in love with the art of medicine. He then proceeded to study family medicine and eventually conducted several medical missions, delivered a lot of babies, and helped many patients. His advocacy aims to aid in the development of healthcare policy at both the state and national levels.Currently, he is taking care of senior patients at Dedicated Senior Medical Center in Largo, Florida. Dr. Kumar said that 8 out of 10 people who died from COVID-19 were from the age group of 65 and above. People aged 32–39 years old have a 2x higher hospitalization rate and a 4x higher chance of dying from COVID-19. People over the age of 75 have a four-times higher hospitalization rate and a 220-fold increased risk of death. People who are 85 years old and above have a 13-times higher chance of hospitalization and a 630-times higher chance of dying. This alarming data is the reason why it is important to be educated about the vaccine. Rosie asked what would happen if everyone got vaccinated, and then Dr. Ajoy stated that we could obtain herd immunity. Herd immunity occurs when a sufficient population of individuals get vaccinated and have resistance to the virus. This could drive down the rate of spread and how active the infection is in the population. At the same time, Dr. Kumar said that there would always be a population that can't or won't get vaccinated, but at least with herd immunity, we could indirectly protect them as well. Dr. Kumar has educated the listeners on the types of vaccines. He said that there was no vaccine that was authorized to exactly prevent the virus, but that it would recognize a part of the virus instead. Typically, vaccines are made with mRNA, which contains a synthetically created spike of the virus that helps our immune system recognize it and eventually fight the virus. The Pfizer vaccine has a 95% efficiency. It consists of two shots, 21 days apart, for people aged 16 and up. Moderna is 94.1% effective for 18-year-olds and above, and should be taken two times, 28 days apart. There is also the Astrazenica vaccine, which is 63.09% effective and was developed on a non-viable virus and includes two shots. Johnson & Johnson has developed a one-shot and is 66% effective for mild illnesses and 86% effective for severe illnesses. Novavax is also available in the United Kingdom and South Africa. It is 89.3% effective and is a protein-based vaccine for 18-year-olds and above. In the United States, the FDA only granted emergency use authorization to Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. Dr. Kumar also warned the public to never swap out or mix and match their vaccines. #SeniorCare #Patient #Senior #Coronavirus #Covid-19 #Vaccine #SevereIllness #HerdImmunity #EmergencyUseAuthorization #Indian #CareerChange #Advocacy #Pfizer #AstraZeneca #Moderna #Johnson&Johnson #Jannsen #Novavax Dr. Ajoy Kumar Email │ Website │ Facebook
Rita Barreto, the former chairperson of the Florida Commission on the Status of Women, is an empowered woman, a published author, an award-winning consultant, and the visionary and founder of Top Tier Leadership. She was born and raised in Miami, Florida. In her professional life, she spent 23 years in corporate America as a high-level director. Then, she took a leap and started her own business, Top Tier Leadership, 25 years ago. In this episode, Rita shares her experiences as a 6-year commissioner. In 2020, she became the chairperson of the Florida Commission on the Status of Women. This Commission includes women of different races, socioeconomic backgrounds, professions, and geographic locations. Due to the diversity of the Commission they are able to come up with so many different solutions and approaches. She is proud to say that everyone in the commission didn't skip a beat, even in the midst of the pandemic. They even held virtual events that enabled women to engage and be heard. They discovered that when they have a virtual event, more women attended than when they organized an in-person one. Rita developed and gathered more data concerning the status of women, which could be utilized as a tool for future project decision-making. Rita has also produced an annual report containing measurable data to aid in the development of policies to solve challenges that impact women and girls. For many years, women have been suffering from discrimination. Women are not allowed to vote and don't have the same rights as men. However, things changed 100 years ago as the suffragists fought for the rights of women. The suffragists pioneered equality and women's empowerment. Rosie and Rita talked about the 100 years of women's suffrage in this episode. Rita reiterates that this is a significant event as it reflects where women have been. It celebrates women's voices and the power to vote for someone to represent them in the government. Women's suffrage enables us to have a voice and to make changes. The Florida Commission on the Status of Women awards two major awards: Florida Women's Hall of Fame and Spirit of the Community Award. While many may be familiar with the Women's Hall of Fame award, many may not be familiar with the latter. Rita shared that the Spirit of the Community Award is a way of recognizing women who are currently volunteering in their communities with pure motivation. To nominate someone visit fcsw.net and complete an application and be sure to quantify what the nominee did in the community. A total of 12 women are selected. The Commission also has a video and essay contest for the youth related to women issues. Both boys and girls up to high school age can submit a video and essay. In 2020, the Commission purchased a kiosk that allows visitors to the State Capital to view the Women's Hall of Fame awardees. Prior to 2020 visitors could only view this information by visiting the Women's Hall of Fame wall at the Capital. Towards the end, Rita suggests her favorite book, Leadership Challenge by James Kouze and Barry Posner. She loved this book as it is research-based and discussed the five characteristics of an admired leader: inspire a shared vision, model the way, challenging the process, enabling others to act, and encouraging the heart. She also advises everyone to pick one area to work on and once mastered move onto another characteristic. In closing, it is important that we help each other rather than forcing our own way to the top. Have pure motives. Nicole Valentin Alicea is a well-rounded marketing, branding, and advertising professional with superior business acumen. For almost 20 years, Nicole has successfully helped local, national and international companies, agencies, and nonprofits adapt to rapidly changing environments and achieve their business goals. Nicole grew up in Puerto Rico and then moved to Tampa, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications with a concentration in Advertising from the University of South Florida. Ten years ago she identified a gap in the market and launched her business, Create Brand NV. As the Founder and President, she quickly realized that she needed a better understanding of how to transition to becoming a business owner. The E Myth book helped her understand that to be successful she needed more than passion and skill to run a business. One of the first things she did then was hire Lori Goldsmith, an independent Human Resources consultant, who taught her how to identify a good hire, how to give good feedback, how to give a review, and manage staff. Nicole shared that since hiring Lori she has continued to learn as much as she can about managing and supporting staff through conferences, podcasts, and real-life experiences. A business needs patience, teamwork, passion, skills, hard work, and perseverance. Employees are a company's greatest investment. Striving and inspiring the employees is the greatest thing to do as a business owner. Rosie shared that seventy percent of the economy of the United States is run by small businesses. As such, as a community we want small businesses to succeed. Cafecito con Rosie is just one example of how Rosie Paulen Enterprises is creating opportunities for business owners to feel connected and receive valuable information, tips and support. In that vein, Rosie asked Nicole to share a tip with other working mothers and Nicole shared that taking breaks throughout her day had led to increased productivity. What! Yes, taking a break is not a bad thing. It allows you to come back a bit sharper. She also suggested delegating tasks as much as you can is key; use your support system. As the episode ended, Rosie concluded by sharing a quote from her book,`Neque: The Spirit of a Resilient Mind, “the more information you have on yourself and the people who work with you, the better decision you will make both employee-wise and financially.” As Eileen Bistrisky once said, “ Great leaders are not the best at everything”. Therefore, as a business owner, it is imperative that in business you know the people in your company. If you have happy employees and invest in human capital, then your clients will be happy to come back to a happy environment. Rosie closes by thanking her support system and friends who help her achieve a thriving, profitable, and successful business as well as Dedicated Senior Medical Center for their sponsorship of Cafecito con Rosie. #Striving #WellRounded #Marketing #Inspiring #Advertising #Business #International #Local #Companies #Collaborative #Attitude #Leadership #NonProfits #HumanCapital #WorkingEnvironment #Skills #Talents #Bilingual #Acumen #Teamwork #Patience Nicole Valentin Alicea's Website │ Youtube │ Facebook
On this episode of Cafecito with Rosie we are talking about the topic of falling among the elderly with Dr. Nareesha Khan, an internal medicine specialist in Clearwater. She currently practices at Dedicated Senior Medical Center Clearwater LLC. Dr. Khan is board-certified in Internal Medicine. She received her medical degree from the University oOf South Florida College of Medicine and completed her residency at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Dr. Khan was born in Trinidad and Tobago and immigrated to Tampa at the age 4 and truly never left. She is living the American Dream. As long as she can remember she has worked with the underserved community. At Dedicated Senior Medical Center, Dr. Khan shares that during this pandemic she has more and more patients with broken bones. If we don't use it, we lose it. Not moving has its consequences. Fall prevention is key. There are things to take note of to know when she and/or a caregiver should consider discussing fall prevention with a patient. How much effort is a patient using to get out of a chair? Is the patient experiencing back pain? In the home, check the carpet for any folds, which can cause the patient to trip, make sure all pathways are well light and clear, keep areas around the tub and sink dry, and keep cords tucked away. In the bathroom install grab bars and this makes it very easy to get in and out of the tub/shower. Rosie mentions that often elderly people fall and once on the ground have no way of reaching a family member or friend. She asks what she can do as a neighbor of an elderly person to keep an eye on them. Dr. Khan mentions that if your neighbor has a routine that you are aware of and you don't see them missing from that routine, give them a ring or knock on the door. If you have a family member's phone number, give them a call. Due to Dedicated Senior Medical Centers hands on approach with patients, she often encourages her patients to give the Center's phone number to neighbors. The Center treats patients as family and will aid in facilitating a check in. Continue the conversation around fall prevention, Dr. Khan mentions yoga and Tai Chi for seniors are helpful and low impact exercises that aid in improving balance. She has seen marked improvements in patients who participate in these types of exercises. An advantage of the Medicare Advantage plans is access to Silver Sneakers. This online portal grants patients access to on demand yoga and Tai Chi along with many other virtual programs. To contact Dr. Khan or the Dedicated Senior Medical Center their phone number is 813-822-4322 or visit them online at /www.dedicated.care/ The Center has several locations in the Tampa Bay Area and a multitude of services and specialties are provided in each Center. This model allows the primary doctor to be hands-on addressing a variety of issues for patients under one roof. The coordination of care is a priority and something the Center does well. In closing, Rosie shares the importance of giving back to the community. When you become a trusted community member people will seek you out and do business with you. Stay pure. Stay positive. Stay inspired. #Family #Prevention #Medicine #Falling #Accidents #Communication #MedicalAdvantagePlan #SilverSneaker #Senior #VirtualProgram Dr. Nareesha Khan Dedicated Senior Medical Center │ Vitals
In this pandemic, seniors are at the top of the mortality rate. Isolation is very important and being away from the family is the hardest thing to do. Volunteering with hospitals, mission trips, and health-related organizations while in college inspired Dr. George Wickramanayake to become a physician. “I find it rewarding to help people and build meaningful relationships at the same time,” he says. Having helped his grandma with her care, Dr. Wickramanayake says, “Treating seniors is personal to me. I understand the difficulties they face, and I will go the extra mile to help them understand their health and feel in control of their care. In seniors' care, isolation is the biggest factor, especially in this pandemic. It can cause a lot of depression and anxiety in patients. The Senior Medical Center is combating this by providing transportation to secure the food and necessities needs of seniors and bring them to the hospital whenever they need it. They also call their patients at least once a week to encourage them to participate in various online activities that are available to them. It can be very frustrating that the vaccine is not easily accessible and can lead to what has been termed as the “vaccine blues”. Dr Wickramanayake warns that maintaining the social distancing and safety precautions is the best path forwards, along with maintaining constant communication with your doctor about the vaccine availability. Senior Medical Center always looks after its patients and always practices safety protocols. There is no other clinic that will always go beyond and do anything to help our patients and we will find ways to communicate with their families in any form. Only the Senior Medical center is offering 24/7 services to our patients. #Isolation #Pandemic #Family #Transportation #PhysicalActivity #Community #Environment #Depression #Patient #Treating #SafetyProtocols Caredash │ Facebook │ Vitals

Steve teaches other speakers how to be engaging speakers and get rave reviews from the audience. He has 7 businesses and he teaches individuals how to be a good speaker and not boring. Rosie Paulsen also shares her knowledge from a book she read, “clarity: the power you'll generate from focusing on what's most important.” Finding your clarity and knowing your passion is important for you to stand out in your expertise for you to succeed. Being a good speaker is not just about talking in front of people but also finding your passion as a listener. Over the years, Steve learned that “love is a learning process” and there are five love languages. You need to understand your love language and also your loved ones. “Communication is vital to success.” “If you are not clear on your purpose, your business will pull you out,” Rosie says. Opening new businesses will pull you and drag you from your loved ones especially if you are busy and you're going to forget things because you're focusing on your business. Steve gives a piece of advice that for us to succeed, we should always open our day with meditation and be grateful for what we have, start imagining what we want, and find somebody who can help us with that imagining. The show ends with a quote and advice from Rosie, “giving back is not just helping other people, it's about encouraging them to dream too.” You will succeed if you are a blessing to your community. Help to change your environment and be a gift of giving without expecting your whole community to change. Expect less in return and Rosie encourages everyone to find their purpose and help other people to find theirs. #Marriage #Love #Family #Boring #Passion #Communication #GoodSpeaker #Success #LoveLanguages #Community #Purpose #Grateful Steve Sapato Steve Sapato Seminars │Steve Sapato │Facebook │ LinkedIn │ Email │ Twitter

Dedicated Senior Medical Center is a business under ChenMed founded by James Chen and currently managed by the CEO Chris Chen. ChenMed is a family-owned and run company that started in Miami 30 years ago. The Chen family used to be impoverished. To give to the community, they are helping the underserved and underprivileged communities through accessible and complete medical facilities. In this episode of Cafecito with Rosie, Dr. Nehal Gheewala, the National Director of Growth at ChenMed, shares the goal and mission of the institution. The DSMC is created to help senior patients with their medical needs. They ensure that every patient is treated as a family and a VIP. Dr. Gheewala asserts that to ensure they take care of patients properly, they offer complete and convenient services from medical assessments to transportation. Dr. Gheewala said that the likelihood of people more than 65 years old being hospitalized increases. They have to be proactive in ensuring the health of every patient. On average, every patient calls their DSMC doctors and spends 240-260 minutes, if not more, every year. This interaction helps doctors to know every patient, their history, and their status. Doctors and staffs of DSMC do a weekly routined call to patients to know them better, just like we do for our families. It is possible as, unlike most hospitals around the Tampa area, they only have 400 patients per doctor. The DSMC and its amenities have locations all over Tampa, as Dr. Gheewala mentioned. These locations are chosen based on the status of the community. Usually, it is where there are only a few stores, few means of transportation, or areas with a lack of doctors. This is to live their mission of helping impoverished citizens. Rosie was very impressed that the Dedicated Senior Medical Center partnered with local food banks to distribute food items to patients with no access to healthier options. #Family #Patients #SeniorCare #Doctors #Service #FoodDrive #Medical #Impoverish #ChenMed Website │ Facebook │ LinkedIn
