Erik Wetterling – Derisked Junior Gold Developers Are Presenting The Most Amazing Valuation Disconnects That We've Ever Seen

Erik Wetterling, Founder and Editor of The Hedgeless Horseman website, joins me to discuss how the derisked junior gold stocks are presenting the most amazing valuation disconnects that we've ever seen.  We start off talking about just how divorced many junior precious metals economic studies are with their “base case” metals price assumptions, from where the spot gold and silver prices actually are at present.  This begs the question of a what a fair base case metals assumption is for PM projects, and if companies and analysts should be doing a better job of comparing these projects at values closer to spot pricing.  We heard for so many prior years in lower metals price environments that we had to deal in the real and value companies based on current metals prices, but now that gold and silver prices are substantially higher, it seems those same people don't want to value the projects based on where metals prices are in the here and now.  The gold producers are going to demonstrating what the actual metals prices can do to their margins in the quarters to come.   In a sea of companies using far too conservative of metals price assumptions in the $1,400-$1,700 levels, we laid out a few companies I sat down with at the Beaver Creek PM Summit that actually did provide both reasonable base case metal price assumptions on their development projects at $1,800-$1,900 gold and $23-$25 silver, but then also provided metal sensitivity data for levels more in alignment with current metals prices at $2,500 gold and $30 silver; like Thesis Gold Inc (TSXV: TAU) (OTCQX: THSGF), Vista Gold Vista Gold Corp. (TSX: VGZ) (NYSE: VGZ), and Skeena Resources Limited (TSX:SKE)(NYSE:SKE).  Some also provided data for the upside potential at $3,000 gold and $35-$36 silver.  In these examples these projects are valued in the current market caps of the companies at a large discount to where the net present value of the projects come in between the $2.3-$4.4Billion ranges.   This just demonstrates how backward-looking the current valuations are on many of these developers and the potential for a sector-wide rerating in many of these derisked projects with defined ounces in the ground and solid economic studies in place.   Wrapping up this lead the conversation in the topic of M&A and if merger or acquisition transactions for these companies at 30%-50% premiums was anywhere close to enough to get a proper valuation multiple on these projects. We may very well see future M&A transactions at much higher premiums if these companies and projects don't start getting re-rated higher to close the value arbitrage.   * In full disclosure, Shad is also a shareholder of Thesis Gold and Skeena Resources at the time of this recording.   Click here to visit Erik's site – The Hedgeless Horseman

Send us a textGoogle Testing Review Badge of Shame & More  in UK for Review Abuses:Google has rolled out a new review “badge of shame” and a new help document titled "Business Profile Restrictions for Policy Violations," introducing stricter actions for businesses engaging in deceptive review practices. Currently being tested in the UK, the policy includes a tiered system of penalties, such as preventing new reviews, unpublishing existing ones, and displaying a "badge of shame" for businesses caught with fraudulent reviews. This marks a shift in Google's approach, as they historically removed fake reviews without directly accusing businesses of wrongdoing. The penalties, though designed to improve review integrity, raise concerns about fairness, particularly for businesses that may be falsely flagged. Google has implemented an appeals process, offering business owners a chance to contest these restrictions. However, with previous experiences showing delays in review processes, some wonder how effective the system will be. This effort aligns with broader global regulatory pressures, such as the UK's push against fake reviews and potential influences from European legislation like the Digital Services Act (DSA).Google's Antitrust Travails: What's at Stake in the Latest Legal Battle?Google is currently facing its second antitrust trial, focusing on its ad-tech dominance. The trial, now in its second week, follows an earlier case where Google was found to be an illegal monopoly in search and text ads. This new case explores the workings of Google's ad exchange and network, with internal documents revealing questionable practices like taking premium cuts from advertisers. Central to the case is how the market is defined—if Google can argue for a broad market with competitors like Amazon and Facebook, it could escape further liability. However, if the market is viewed more narrowly, Google may face more significant consequences, including potential divestitures of its ad business.Beyond legal outcomes, this case, coupled with Google's aggressive internal strategies, is tarnishing the company's public image. Wall Street has already priced in potential legal losses, showing expectations of a major financial impact from a loss. Additionally, these trials may open the door to more lawsuits, including cases like Yelp's, which could bring greater visibility into Google's local search dominance.Digital Agencies Highlight Disconnect in Local Marketing Priorities:In a recent survey of nearly 300 digital agencies, a mismatch emerged between the services offered and what agencies perceive as client demand. Agencies commonly offer web design, social media marketing, and SEO, but client demand also includes email marketing and brand marketing—services not prioritized by many agencies. This gap raises questions about how well agencies understand their clients' evolving needs, particularly in small business marketing.Small businesses also show a surprising lack of attention to crucial tools like Google Business Profiles (GBP) and review management. Despite the importance of local search and reputation management, only a quarter of businesses actively manage their profiles, a disconnect made more mysterious given that business owners frequently use Google for their own research. The data suggests a broader education gap around how these digital tools influence visibility and growth, with many small businesses over-relying on social media while underestimating the value of search and reputation management. The Near Memo is a weekly conversation about Search, Social, and Commerce: What happened, why it matters, aSubscribe to our 3x per week newsletter at https://www.nearmedia.co/subscribe/

You may have heard before that in order to get your period back with Hypothalamic Amenorrhea (aka a missing period due to under eating, overexercise and/or STRESS)...you need to exercise less.   With my clients, I actually recommend taking a FULL exercise break.   I believe this to be proven by the data we have on women who lose their periods due to HA, and the BEST path to regaining optimal hormonal health + become truly healthy and fit.   I took a 3 month exercise break back in 2018, and have walked hundreds of clients through this process.    I break down the what, how and why behind exercise breaks in this episode.   An exercise break = Temporarily stopping all structured exercise and only doing low-intensity exercise IF truly desired in the moment.   Taking an exercise break helps you get your period back by: Reducing cortisol (not suppressing the hypothalamus) Creating the proper calorie surplus to increase estrogen, leptin and insulin (sends signals to the hypothalamus: “we are fed”)

Some of my favorite interviews on Typology happen when a guest comes on thinking they're one type but they present differently. Today is one of those conversations. We start the show by talking to author, speaker, and social media personality, Carlos Whittaker, exploring how he determined his type and what struck him the most about being an Enneagram 9. Not long into our conversation, we begin to unravel the lines between Enneagram 3s, 6s, and 9s and dig into a brief typing interview. It's an engaging conversation you don't want to miss. We also pivot to talk about his new book, How to Human: Three Ways to Share Life Beyond What Distracts, Divides, and Disconnects, where Carlos shares the transformative power of embracing human connection and learning to navigate difficult things with a little more grace. In this experiential exercise, we invite parts of us to share their stories of why they hold anger toward God.  Dr. Peter offers an invitation to parts to see if we can listen to those stories in an open, nonjudgmental way, understanding that there are always reasons for anger at God, reasons that stem from misunderstanding and misinterpretations of experiences.  Parts are angry more at their images of God -- their idols -- than at who God really is. Live audience participants share their experience in debriefing and Dr. Peter also answers questions.
