While other functions in procurement benefited from predictive workflows and access to various technologies, sourcing remained uniquely challenging due to the diversity of processes across companies. This diversity underscores the potency of AI in optimizing the sourcing function. If you're interested in discovering how AI can enhance your sourcing efforts, you've landed in the right spot. Legendary entrepreneur Joel Hyatt has built extremely disruptive ventures that have democratized services across legal, technology, and media sectors. He did it with legal services for ‘the rest of us' when he co-founded Hyatt Legal in the 70's —busting the ban on lawyer ads—and also shook up the industry by adding legal as an employee benefit, which is now part of MetLife. After winning an antitrust case which broke up a big media stronghold, he and Al Gore started Current TV pioneering user-generated content. Current TV was hot, and received multiple Emmys, Peabodys, and Livingston Awards, investments from Comcast and Direct TV and is now a part of Aljazera Media Network. Joel's latest venture, Globality, is all about streamlining and enhancing the procurement process for businesses. Leveraging both machine learning and generative AI, the company offers something totally unique it calls “autonomous self-serve sourcing.” And what's interesting is that this is no 2024 VC-backed start-up leaping on the AI bandwagon. Joel has been developing this solution for years, and so has both learned what works and what doesn't. On this episode Joel shares decades of wisdom from his various endeavors that democratized oligopolies; unpacks untold stories about how Globality is transforming the boring side of business—and tells some fun and humorous startup stories with his friend Al Gore. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/rebootchronicles/message

According to research done by Globality, "90% of global procurement leaders are committed to the urgent transformation of their operating models and processes to be more resilient and agile.” And yet, committing to an idea does not necessarily guarantee that it will gain operational traction. During this fireside chat moderated by Philip Ideson as part of Mastermind LIVE 2022, BP Director of Digital and Innovation Sourcing Nicholas Wright and Global Category Manager for Talent and Consulting Ben Weston were joined Globality's Graham Moore to discuss how agile sourcing can deliver increased efficiencies and ROI by moving more spend to a self-service process.  In this session, they explored topics such as: How procurement should rethink the sourcing process to be more responsive to the needs of the business.  The corresponding adjustments that requires to engagement with specific suppliers and stakeholders How the team at BP, one of the world's largest integrated energy businesses, approached transforming their sourcing process to become more agile by placing a particular focus on services categories.

Erez Yerselove is a serial marketing leader whose company, Globality, is changing the way professional services are sourced. By applying AI to the process, the company creates efficiency in specifying requirements, finding the right partner (starting with incumbents) and negotiating a clearer scope and fairer deal for all.Erez talks about innovating in professional services, reveals a new feature that enables proposal comparison "apples to apples" vs "apples to kumquats." Saving time for CMOs and CIOs as they procure services and for the suppliers as well is a key benefit. AI and natural language processing make the process of buying services more organized, detailed by asking questions buyers might not anticipate (going way beyond what is possible in an RFP) and effective by narrowing the choices to likely fits. It's also valuable for supplier diversity and finding suppliers outside your home territory or for services where the buyer has no network to draw from.Interestingly Globality is an enterprise commitment to change the way professional services are procured, and so is an interesting case study in go-to-market. They're elephant hunting by design, with highly focused and strategic approach to identifying, proposing, and onboarding clients.. Conversely, there are thousands of suppliers on the platform who make themselves available to economic buyers. This is a fascinating conversation with a successful CMO on how he's driving go-to-market for a groundbreaking product and service to its clients. After years of investment in talent and technology, procurement has become a catalyst for enterprise transformation. No other function is in a better position to lead disruptive change and reinvention than procurement. But if we want to thrive in the ‘next normal,’ we must be able to go let go of the past, be bold, and embrace intelligent risks.  This interview, based on one of the most popular sessions from AOP Mastermind LIVE 2020, features Chris Sawchuk, Principal and Global Procurement Advisory Practice Leader at The Hackett Group, and Keith Hausmann, Chief Revenue Officer at Globality. They join Host Philip Ideson to discuss how leading CPOs are helping their teams re-imagine the ‘art of the possible’ and to drive new sources of value for their companies and for their stakeholders.  Key takeaways from this session include: Digitizing legacy processes is not enough to be agile in today’s challenging, fast-paced environment Procurement should not try to generate revenue, but rather work to enable revenue through creative strategies Since large companies tend to buy from other large, stable companies, procurement needs to be focused on incentivizing suppliers to deliver their very best work Capabilities that can be leveraged - regardless of where in the organization they sit - should be pulled into procurement projects rather than expecting to increase headcount

Despite the procurement mindshare dedicated to technology, it hasn’t changed things as much as we all would have liked. Most of procurement’s sourcing activities happen the same way they always have, albeit with much improved user interfaces. This is especially true for complex service categories that have always defied our processes and templates. Keith Hausmann is the Chief Revenue Office at Globality. He also has the unique distinction of being both a former client - and a former boss - of Art of Procurement Host Philip Ideson. His enthusiasm for a worthy business challenge and the agile nature of innovative start-ups recently led him to join this AI-powered services sourcing platform provider. In this interview, Keith provides his point of view about several of the strategic challenges that procurement still faces ‘after all these years’ and the role that procurement technology can play in resolving them: Technology as an enabler for procurement teams that feel pressure to reduce indirect costs but want to do incredibly challenging and interesting work Why it is never a good idea to let a supplier - even an incumbent - define the scope or demand for a stakeholder (and why it keeps happening) The unique requirements procurement teams have when sourcing complex services categories
