Notes:Command (vs 4)Jesus gives a Jesus command. I'm not sure anyone else could have done this or would have done this. Wait here and don't move until the gift appears. How long? No answer. How will we know the gift is here? No answer. What should we do while we wait? No answer. What kind of power? No answer. Notice they don't actually ask any of these questions - at least not that we are told. But they do want to know about what the power will do for them. Will it displace the Romans? Will we get our nation back? Will we get our lives back? In other words, we are willing to wait without questions if this is going to get us what we want out of it. Identity (vs 5)The HS identity is a gift just as Jesus was a gift. It is important to see him this way. Gifts are given not earned. They must be accepted. They must be unwrapped or taken into our lives.Wait in Jerusalem Jesus commands his followers to wait in the place of their greatest defeat and worst tragedy. It is also the location of immanent danger to anyone associated with his name. They know Jesus is alive. He tells them about the kingdom. How exciting must this be? How incredible to see these things and sense you are on the verge of all your dreams come true? And Jesus command is to wait. That's fine. But he isn't going to wait with them. And that is not so fine. Jesus is leaving and we are waiting a "few days." What does that mean? We know God's sense of time and ours are not at all similar (2 pet 3:8). Waiting an indefinite amount of time without the real presence of God in Jesus and without the internal presence of God in the Holy Spirt, in a dangerous place full of bad memories is a daunting task. This is a great act of faith. Why would Jesus leave them in this position? What's the point?
Cole Stukenholtz & Nate Rohr are back together to talk Nebraska football's big June jump in recruiting. Michael sits down with Blair Forrest — yes, the one lifting scary barbells, flying solo without an assistant, and casually rethinking the entire North American logistics map. They dive deep into the 2025 tariff chaos: why brands are panicking, how bonded warehouses are basically international waters (minus the pirates), and what it actually means to “wait out” a multi-million dollar shipping problem. From FTZ hacks to cross-border inventory plays, this is your tactical survival guide for the madness — whether you're paying $5K or $300K per container. It's messy. It's essential. It's surprisingly therapeutic. We'll see you in The PPC Den!

This Week: A fascinating piece in Chalkbeat breaks down some of the pros and cons of states adopting varied graduation pathways to a HS diploma. In a world where AI can do your homework, where it seems like we have no idea what the economic future will look like, and all but 6 states have dropped their HS exit exam requirements, what is - or should be - the purpose of a high school education? But first, this week in American fascism in education was a doozy. Yikes. We got the Labor Dept shutting down Job Corps, Donny and Linda bringing back racist indigenous HS mascots in NY State, Trump attempting to cut tribal college funding by 90%, child acute malnutrition in Gaza triples amid US taxpayer funded genocide, and ICE agents start arresting high school students across the country, like in Mass, NYC, and Detroit. In this encore episode, we go through the pathophysiology of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S)-dominant small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), focusing on its role in intestinal motility disruption, microbial dysbiosis, and epithelial barrier dysfunction. We detail the interplay between the enteric nervous system (ENS), interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs), and migrating motor complex (MMC) in regulating small intestinal transit and how excess H₂S modulates smooth muscle activity, inflammatory signaling, and gastrointestinal transit time. Lastly, we detail symptoms and related SIBO subtypes.Topics:1. Introduction to Hydrogen Sulfide Dominant SIBO - Overview of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) SIBO - Sulfate as an electron acceptor - H₂S production, sulfur-containing amino acids - Physiological roles of H₂S vs. in excess 2. Hydrogen Sulfide and Gastrointestinal Motility - Impact on transit time - Association with IBS-like symptoms, diarrhea 3. Intestinal Motility and Regulation - Role of the ENS, ICCs, smooth muscle cells, and neurotransmitters in motility 4. The Enteric Nervous System (ENS) and Gut Motility - ENS as the "second brain" and its control over digestion - Myenteric and submucosal plexuses: regulation of peristalsis, secretion, blood flow - Gut-brain axis involvement via vagus nerve signaling - ICCs as pacemaker cells generating slow-wave electrical activity - MMC's role in clearing debris and bacteria 5. Dysregulated Motility and SIBO Development 6. Overlapping Symptoms Across SIBO Subtypes - Shared symptoms - Hydrogen and H₂S-dominant SIBO vs. IMO 7. Gastric Acid and Its Role - HCl secretion by parietal cells and its role in digestion and microbial defense - Hypochlorhydria and bacterial overgrowth 8. John Franco went to 4 All Star games, was the MLB saves leader 3x, and was Reliever of the Year 2x in his iconic 22-year career. A New Yorker to the core, he went to the same HS in Brooklyn as Sandy Kofax, played college ball at St John's with Frank Viola, and then Captained the Mets (a rarity for a pitcher). When he retired, he was 2nd all-time in saves (he is still 7th), and no lefty has saved more games. Great stories from a pitching legend.

The bottom line instructions for our life is that we would rightly view God as our king and Lord and do what he says every day. Whether you are a HS student, or a parent, or a senior citizen like Solomon, we need to fear God and obey him.
Quentin Nauman—remember that name. Just a few weeks ago, he became the first high school athlete in U.S. history to run both sub-1:50 in the 800m and sub-4:00 in the 1600m... at the same meet. (Quentin clocked 1:49.41 in the 800m and 3:59.60 in the 1600m at the Iowa State Track and Field Championships.) Let that sink in.From sweeping the Drake Relays to dominating cross country with a 14:59 course record, Quentin has built a résumé that rivals the legends—and he's still not done. This next week, he heads to the HOKA Festival of Miles, not just to compete—but to win.In April 2025, Nauman achieved a rare trifecta by winning the 800m, 1,600m, and 3,200m races at the prestigious Drake Relays. He became the first Iowa high school boy to sweep all three distance events in the same weekend, setting a state record of 4:05.17 in the 1,600m.Quentin's prowess isn't limited to track. In November 2024, he won the Class 3A Iowa state cross country title with a state record time of 14:59. As a sophomore in 2024, The Oregon commit placed fifth in the boys' 800m at the HOKA Festival of Miles with a time of 1:51.09.So whether you're lacing up for a workout or just love the grind behind the glory—get ready. This is Quentin Nauman, and this is what the next generation of running looks like.In today's conversation, Quentin takes me through the impact that Jackson Heidesch had on him two years ago, how he'scarrying on the legecy, what he wants to do in the next 12 months of his HS career, why he thinks he can be one of the greatest to ever do it, and his thoughts leading into the 2025 HOKA Festival of Miles meet. Garth Heckman The David Alliance TDAgiantSlayer@Gmail.com How do you get good at anything? You practice… that seems obvious. But how do you get really good at something… like expert level. Well you practice but you practice under duress. Doctors who came back from war were far better at their jobs having practiced under war time conditions. The Benefits of Military Medical Experience include…. Trauma and Emergency Care Expertise: Military doctors, especially those who have served in combat zones, gain unparalleled experience in managing severe trauma, critical injuries, and mass casualty events under high-pressure, resource-limited conditions. This experience can be invaluable in civilian trauma centers and emergency departments. Adaptability and Resourcefulness: Military physicians are often trained to work in diverse and sometimes austere environments, using whatever resources are available. This fosters a high degree of adaptability, problem-solving skills, and the ability to remain calm in chaotic situations. Leadership and Teamwork: Military medicine emphasizes strong leadership, teamwork, and a clear chain of command. These skills are highly transferable to civilian healthcare settings, particularly in managing teams and coordinating care. Exposure to Diverse Patient Populations: Military physicians often change stations frequently and may be exposed to a wide variety of patient populations globally, broadening their clinical perspective. Focus on Pure Medicine (less administrative burden): In some military settings, doctors can focus more on patient care without the same concerns about insurance or billing that civilian doctors often face, allowing them to hone their clinical skills. Innovation: Many medical innovations and practices, such as triage systems and specialized surgical teams, have originated or been refined in military settings and have had a significant impact on civilian healthcare. When you don't let anyone in your emotions, your faith or your mind… you build your Spiritual strength or should I say your spiritual armor. Wether it is a person or a circumstance or even a physical health issue - these aren't just proving grounds, they are paving grounds for your life. You are learning to pave your walk in life in a straight and narrow. When emotions, doubt, anger, bitterness… when these emotions attack you it can cause an uphill and uneven walk… with pitfalls and roadblocks… but they are of your making because you don't choose to the right response. Silence is your Protection Scripture is your weapon Faith is your push back into the darkness Silence protects you a few ways… You do not give your adversary any more ammo to pull your strings or trigger you. You keep them guessing You ultimately make them give up You create a sense that you know something they don't and it makes them feel vulnerable, more likely to expose their motives and their faults. Scripture is your weapon. I just had a conversation with a young man who said he does not believe in speaking in tongues and the HS gifts for today… I said show me in scripture where it says that. He started to say “well I think… I cut him off immediately and told him he was either incredibly stupid, naive or arrogant or he was God. Because no one who serves God should care what another man thinks if it does not line up with scripture. My life is lived according to scripture… not my circumstances, not my upbringing, not what others think… even if they seem smarter than me… My life and how I view my life is totally based on scripture. If the rest of my life I pray for people to be healed and they are not… Im still believing God heals for today because that is what Gods word says. My aikido sense was John Barr- I have talked about him a few times on my podcast. He was the best, well known, on magazine covers, fought with Steven Seagal… his wife tells a story of when they went to a restaurant that had a bar…. (Story) No change in emotion, no anger, no change of demeanor… just a calm statement of faith. John knew what he knew, he believed what he knew and he knew it was true. THATS FAITH. When you pray a prayer of faith or live a life of faith… you don't have to pray loud, live brash, but if you just know what you know, believe what scripture says, and live the truth. Thats faith. Authority self esteem, self control, inner strength… self respect… its a muscle. And as they say… use it or lose it!

After his resurrection, Luke 24 records that Jesus walked with two of his disciples on the road to Emmaus, and during that journey, we're told that “Beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.” So what OT passages did Jesus likely have in mind as he discussed the Hebrew Bible with these two disciples? This Week: Whew, it's been a doozy of a week in American education. Today we do a bit of a news round up with analysis of the stories that resonated most for us. We've got Linda McMahon out here dropping the ball on student loan repayment plan applications, with 96% going unprocessed, sometimes for over a year! Class warfare and attempts to gut higher ed are in full swing. Gov. Gavin Newsom showing his conservative true colors as he blocks funding the CA's ethnic studies HS graduation requirement. At the same time the CA ethnic legislative caucuses join forces to switch tactics in their attempt to crush ethnic studies. They push a truly Trumpian bill, ostensibly targeting antisemitism. A Harvard student asks, is it even worth it to go to class anymore? And, Louisiana confederates join forces with Trump admin and the courts to bring an official end to school desegregation in the south. In this encore episode, we detail the pathophysiology of intestinal methanogen overgrowth (IMO), hydrogen-dominant small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (H₂-SIBO), and hydrogen sulfide-dominant SIBO (H₂S-SIBO), discussing their mechanistic interactions and overlap. We discuss methanogenic archaea, as well hydrogen sulfide- and hydrogen-producing microbes and their contributions to altered gastrointestinal motility, epithelial barrier function, and neuromuscular signaling. We detail host endogenous defense mechanisms, including gastric acid secretion, pancreatic enzymatic activity, bile flow, intestinal motility, and more.Topics:1. Introduction- Overview of intestinal methanogen overgrowth (IMO), hydrogen sulfide-dominant SIBO, and hydrogen-dominant SIBO - Discussion of overlap 2. Intestinal Methanogen Overgrowth (IMO)- Characterized by an overabundance of methane-producing archaea - Methane and intestinal transit- Bloating, abdominal discomfort, constipation - Associated with irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) 3. Overlap Between IMO and SIBO Subtypes- Hydrogen as a substrate for methane and/or hydrogen sulfide production- Shared potential root causes 4. Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) and Protective Mechanisms- The small intestine remains relatively free of bacteria due to protective mechanisms - Gastric acid secretion - Pancreatic enzymes and bile - Intestinal motility- Structural abnormalities 5. Hydrogen-Dominant SIBO - Increased hydrogen and intestinal transit- Potential symptoms, diarrhea, postprandial bloating - Different forms of SIBO can coexist 6. Hydrogen Sulfide-Dominant SIBO - H₂S and intestinal motility- H₂S and intestinal epithelial integrity- Symptoms, associations with IBS diarrhea 7. Host Defense Mechanisms Regulating Microbial Balance- Gastric acid secretion, pancreatic enzyme activity, bile flow, intestinal motility, and more 8. Gastric Acid and Its Role in Microbial Regulation- Parietal cells secrete hydrochloric acid (HCl) and intrinsic factor - Chief cells secrete pepsinogen, conversion into pepsin in acidic conditions - Gastric acid, digestion and antimicrobial defense 9. Hypochlorhydria - Low gastric acid impairs microbial defense- Reduced acidity disrupts digestion and downstream pancreatic enzyme and bile release 10. Pancreatic Enzymes and Their Role in Microbial Regulation- Pancreatic enzymes, digestion, antimicrobial activity - Enzymes modify chyme to limit fermentable substrates that fuel microbial proliferation 11. Intestinal Motility - Coordinated contractions propel food, microbes, and waste through the GI tract - The enteric nervous system (ENS) and gut motility- The myenteric plexus controls peristalsis, while the submucosal plexus regulates secretion and absorption 12. Conclusion- Intestinal methanogen overgrowth (IMO), hydrogen-dominant SIBO, and hydrogen sulfide-dominant SIBO - Overlap in symptoms and microbial interactions - Host defense mechanisms, including gastric acid, pancreatic enzymes, and motility - Intestinal motility and ENS function in microbial homeostasis - Hydrogen sulfide as a gasotransmitterGet Chloe's Book Today! Calling all Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) warriors – if you've wondered whether diet changes could help. The short answer? It might. While diet alone won't be a cure-all, many people have seen fewer flares and less pain by making specific changes. In this episode, I'm breaking down what we do know about the Hidradenitis Suppurativa diet connection, what's still unclear, and how you can start experimenting with a diet for HS without getting overwhelmed.⭐️Mentioned in This Episode:- Master + optimize your liver detox
In Part Two of the Tea with Dr. D premiere, James Q. Del Rosso, DO, returns with Lauren Lam, MD, a Canadian dermatologist with a keen interest and extensive experience in managing hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). After covering overall considerations and the medical side of HS management in Part One, they shift gears to focus on important physical approaches, including one of the most effective—and often underutilized—surgical interventions: deroofing. Dr Lam emphasizes the importance of both medical and surgical interventions in order to provide comprehensive management of this multifaceted disease state. She shares her step-by-step approach for identifying which lesions are best suited for deroofing, breaking down key considerations like Hurley staging, scarring assessment, and palpation for sinus tracts. From assessing lesions that have resisted biologic therapy to recognizing when a seemingly mild case may actually benefit from surgical intervention, she explains how deroofing fits seamlessly into a well-rounded HS treatment plan, often working in tandem with biologic agents to address stubborn or recurrent lesions without disrupting systemic control. The conversation then turns to technique. Dr Lam outlines her preferred tools, all which are easily accessible in dermatology practices, and explains how she navigates physically challenging areas like the axilla and groin. The pair emphasize the importance of patient education; Dr Del Rosso raises questions about preventing complications such as biofilm formation and hypergranulation, while Dr Lam addresses these issues and shares her strategies for effective wound management. Together, they reflect on how deroofing can markedly improve comfort and quality of life for HS patients, particularly those who have struggled with focal areas of chronic drainage and recurrent abscesses despite optimized medical therapy. Dr Lam's enthusiasm for the procedure is readily apparent and contagious, and her practical advice makes the incorporation of deroofing into the management plan feel readily achievable, even for dermatology clinicians who are new to surgical HS management.
Tariff talks between the U.S. and China have officially started in Switzerland, and they're expected to continue through Sunday. But before you celebrate the potential for an 80% import tax on Chinese goods, here's the uncomfortable truth: These tariffs may actually help Chinese sellers more than they hurt them. In this episode, I break down how Chinese factories are still able to undercut U.S. brands—thanks to lower cost of goods, undervaluing shipments, and manipulating HS codes. I reference a recent Marketplace Pulse article that reveals how direct-from-China Amazon sellers are still thriving despite rising tariffs. https://www.marketplacepulse.com/articles/paradoxical-tariffs-will-benefit-chinese-sellers I also share a live case study with one of my agency clients, who's dealing with excess inventory, aged stock fees, and Amazon's inventory utilization rate surcharges. If you're ignoring your FBA inventory metrics, you're probably paying way more than you realize.
