And the main trends in entrepreneurial marketing for the New Year I often asked how I choose my interviewees for this podcast. I imagine the main reason for the question is the high diversity of the eighty guests on the show since its establishment on March 2017. It’s not easy to find a clear pattern among them. Can you guess what the connection is between interviewees like: Kate Erickson, Guy Kawasaki, Pam Wasley, John Lee Dumas, Mike Stelzner, Jack Kosakowski, Andy Crestodina, Mark Schaefer, Mark Metry, Mike Allton, Chris Brogan, Pascal Guyon, David Beebe, and Lee Oden, just to name a few? You already know that they are all successful entrepreneurs and/or influencers (opinion leaders) in their fields… However, besides these common characteristics, they are all customer focused entrepreneurs, which is what marketing is all about, after all. They, as entrepreneurs, succeeded due to their customer focused approach, or as educators and influencers about this critical issue. I chose interviewees who left their mark on the field of entrepreneurial marketing. But before diving into the most meaningful interviews that marked the changing marketing direction for entrepreneurs in 2019, I would like to remind you about the main differentiation of entrepreneurial and/or startup marketing: It is the need to introduce, sell, and brand a new unfamiliar product or service at least in one aspect - It can be a totally new product, or a new target market for the product, or a totally new business model and the like.   The biggest trends of entrepreneurial marketing for 2019 and who the trend setters and the early adopters of those trends are Entrepreneurial successes based on a failure When I joined the entrepreneurial industry, entrepreneurs were considered as magical geniuses, which were considered to be potential billionaires by the fact they established a startup. But with time many entrepreneurs and startups fell, and a lot of investments went down the drain. A few of my guests, like James Arthur Ray, Ovi Negrean, and Josh Elledge talked about the inevitable failures as a base for success.   Ovi Negrean Even though you might be at one peak at one point, if you want to go to an even higher peak, you will have to go through some valleys. After 10+ years of experience working in various firms, ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, having also some entrepreneurial ventures in between, Ovi jumped full time into the startup world with nugget (acquired) and is now focused on  SocialBee (https://socialbee.io/) . He has experience in building and managing software development teams; building SaaS and mobile products; creating ROI-positive social media; marketing and product launches. He is passionate about helping startups succeed in building great products, finding the appropriate launch sequence, and the best levers to grow. He’s also an idea machine and can really help with brainstorming. His imaginary friends say he’s a fun guy. When I was growing up, I used to climb mountains and I still do. I still like to go snowboarding from time to time and I’m really looking forward to being able to go to Switzerland again. Those are the most beautiful mountains that I’ve ever seen. I think also, coming back a bit in the metaphorical world from the physical world, but keeping with the mountain part, I also found that our life is also like mountains; even though you might be at one peak at one point, if you want to go to an even higher peak, you will have to go through some valley A link to Ovi’s podcast interview: Ovi Negrean:  Even though you might be at one peak at one point, if you want to go to an even higher peak, you will have to go through some valleys (http://www.reachormiss.com/ovi-negrean-even-though-you-might-be-at-one-peak-at-one-point-if-you-want-to-go-to-an-even-higher-peak-you-will-have-to-go-through-some-valleys/)

Where you prioritize your time, as an entrepreneur, there are certain things that get disqualified. As in, no longer an option. You can’t play silly reindeer games when you are “married to this game.” That is what being a professional is about. Commitment. Working remotely is not for everyone. If you do, Jack says you need to make use of all technology and have AMAZING PROCESSES when it comes to collaboration. Here are some of the tools Jack could not live without: Slack Facebook Messenger Trello QUICK TIP: Get each client their own slack channel-so you can see what you need to do live time. To work off-base, you must: Like what you do Be somewhat organized Have right systems   To stay visible, valuable, and connected, Jack recommends having a strategy. He mentioned a step by step process for using a podcast to sell (I use this process-and it works!) You really should listen to it starting at 42:15! To win, you must have a plan of consistency!

Jack Kosakowski Show Notes Jack Kosakowski is a leading expert in social selling and sales innovation. He’s a global sales speaker and CEO of the U.S. division of Creation Agency a global sales, training, and marketing agency. Jack consults, trains, implements, and executes with some of the top b2b sales teams globally on how to integrate social media into the traditional sales process. Jack says his goal each and every day is to add value to someone else’s day. Sales have allowed me to do amazing things with my career and social selling has allowed me to turn my passion into a career! Jack’s dream is to teach everyone how to sell using social to create more opportunities personally or professionally. Most passionate about I’m actually a sales person that has converted into a marketing-sales person. I’ve done sales my whole life, however, two years ago I went into a business partnership with a British manager called and I’m running the US division of a global agency selling digital services. We started in the US from scratch and in two years we got 17 clients and we managed to grow awareness and income for each company. How to use all the digital and social channels to drive actual engagement that will lead to driving revenue. What I’m really passionate about is social selling, how do we use all social media to drive sales conversation from online to offline. The channels depend on the industry. If you want to have real success in sales today you got to be multi-channel. You have to be everywhere and add value all the time. The more value you adding the more visible you are having on the different channels the more opportunity you’re going to create. It’s an art that a lot of people don’t understand but salespeople need to start understanding it because that’s the experience that buyers are starting to ask for. Jack’s customers Some of my customers would be sales hackers. In the US we mainly work with SAAS startup companies and with market companies. In the digital age, marketers are sales people and sales people are marketers. Marketing is the tool to drive sales conversation. Jack’s best advice about approaching customers It depends on the industry but if I have to give an advice to young tech startups and entrepreneurs I think the founders start getting involved with their buyers, like going to conferences where their potential buyers would be. They have to start getting themselves kind of known and start to building actual relationships with beta customers that will start to try their products. A lot of entrepreneurs are not working on their sales skills. Some of them don’t have sales skills and I think entrepreneurs should get out behind their computers and start meeting people, start building relationships with people and give them enough value like try the products for free for three months or give a very tractive price for a while. They should just start the sales process going. Biggest failure with a customer In the last years as a sale person, I started to leverage the power of content and social media network and I grew a pretty big audience and what happened was that it started to divide me from my company. It made my life hell for a while but it really forced me to go out and do my things. Having the conflict of building a personal brand really pushed me away from the corporate life and enforced me to go to entrepreneurship. It forced me to undress and that I can be an entrepreneur. I understood that I can build relationships with other CEO’s. I can build a network with people that will buy my services so I actually had buyers before winning the entrepreneurship. The failure was because I was in a conflict between my personal brand and the company I worked for. I didn’t want to leave the company. In the end, it was a huge success but at the time it felt like the big failure. Biggest success due to the right customer...

Jack Kosakowski, global head of B2B sales execution at Creation Agency, joins Jen Spencer to discuss social selling, relationship development and the power of content in this episode of The Allbound Podcast.  How do you define social selling? Social selling is leveraging the communication channels where your buyers are living versus just communicating with them via phone and email. You're providing value and communicating on multiple channels to influence the sale along the way from online conversation to offline revenue close. Should social sellers separate business from their personal life? We live in the most digital age ever. If you're scared of someone seeing your lifestyle through your social channels, you should be careful how you share or how you live your life. You should inspire and motivate people on a personal and professional level, because hiding isn't going to get you anywhere in sales. How can today's B2B account exec or business development rep use social networking to strengthen their phone and email strategies? If you really want to get to that next level, you've got to understand who the individuals are in the accounts you want to sell. Everyone thinks it's all about business value, but really you've got to have some personal value, too. Nobody wants to be sold, but everybody wants to have a conversation, especially if they have something to talk about with somebody. But how do you know that if you're not leveraging the information you're given? What challenges have you identified while working on digital strategies? One challenge is that marketing is not tied to the revenue numbers, from a dollar amount. I think that marketers should get a base salary, but they should live and die on what kind of business comes in like salespeople do. Most marketers aren't in the weeds sitting with the customers –– they're sitting back and creating content based off articles the industry says they should be writing about. A lot of their content may be great but isn't going to help move the needle. When you're disconnected from the buyer, you are disconnected from sales. What is an example of a tactic you used on a recent social selling success? I'd been having some very preliminary conversations with a customer that I really, really wanted. I knew through one of our conversations that we could fix a major pain point for him. So I wrote a blog post on LinkedIn on the whole process of how this could be fixed then sent the link to him and said, “Hey, I wrote a blog post and I was thinking about you and our conversation, and how this might help.” He came back and said, “Jack, we need to take this conversation more seriously. That was brilliant. How can you do this for us?” Most sales leaders don't understand the power of content, but here I leveraged my insight, created the content, and I sent it to the customer in a way that made it look like I wasn't selling. I was adding value to my audience, and content was the way that I got into that conversation. It's called leading with value. Speed Round Questions: Favorite city? London. Animal lover? Yes. Mac or PC? PC all day. Uber or Lyft? Uber. All expenses paid trip to? Thailand.

Act-On also introduced a mobile app and mobile optimization features. In July 2014, Act-On announced a set of product updates intended to improve data visualization and customize the user experience.[30] Enhancements included a responsive email composer and expanded CRM integrations.   In March 2015, It introduced Act-On Anywhere, a Chrome application allowing users access to marketing automation data and functionalities across any web-based browser. Allowing users to embed calls-to-action in web pages and blogs from any web-based content management system, this extension along with Act-On’s open APIs, supports a larger vision for an open marketing ecosystem, in which third-party applications can plug and play with Act-On – ensuring that end-users can continue to leverage their current systems and augment the use of those systems using engagement data collect
