Some people say kink is just about pain. Others think it's only for people with trauma. Some have never given it a second thought—and then there are those who know exactly what their kink is… or at least think they do. But what if kink is about more than any of that?In this episode, I sit down with Sir Leezus, a sensual sadist and erotic power exchange expert, to talk about what really draws people into kink. Is it healing? Is it about control? Is it even sex at all? For some, kink happens without a single touch below the belt—but the emotional intimacy? That can run deeper than any bedroom encounter. We explore why so many people—especially in midlife—start to unlock new layers of desire after years of silence or shame. And how things like spanking, submission, and even humiliation can become powerful tools for rediscovering connection, pleasure, and self-trust.If you've ever felt like something's missing, or like your desires don't fit the standard mold… this conversation might make more sense than you expect. We often think of vulnerability as something women do, but here's the truth—men can be just as willing to open up, and when they do, it's absolutely amazing. Dirty talk in the bedroom might not be everyone's cup of tea, yet it's a powerful tool for staying present during sex. Women tend to get lost in their thoughts, worrying about whether their partner is getting bored or if they're taking too long to reach orgasm, which can detract from the pleasure of the experience. The same goes for men, particularly those dealing with erectile dysfunction, who might find their performance anxiety worsened by overthinking. In a previous episode, I discussed the importance of pleasure and touch, in this episode, I'm suggesting we engage our minds differently through dirty talk. In today's episode, I'm diving into the world of kink, a term that captures a broad spectrum of activities beyond the conventional or "vanilla" intimate practices. Kink isn't just about the extreme of dungeons and dramatic scenarios; it's fundamentally about venturing into desires that stray from one's usual experiences, which could be as straightforward as altering the ambiance with different lighting. Within this realm, BDSM stands out as a notable subset, encompassing bondage and discipline, dominance and submission, and sadomasochism. Many people find kink a playful and explorative outlet, a healthy way to relieve stress, and an avenue for fostering deep trust and communication with their partners. This journey into understanding kink and BDSM invites us to broaden our perspective on the diversity of human pleasure and the ways in which adults can engage in consensual, informed, and joyful exploration. ************************************************************* Have a burning question or topic suggestion? karen@taboototruth.com https://www.taboototruth.com/ https://www.instagram.com/taboototruth https://www.youtube.com/@taboototruthpodcast *this podcast is not intended to give medical advice. In part 2 of my interview with Dr Staci Gruber, we delved into the complexities of cannabis use, including its potential for addiction, known formally as Cannabis Use Disorder (CUD). We also touched upon the evolution of cannabis potency over the years, with today's products containing much higher THC levels than those from decades ago, raising the stakes in the risk-benefit analysis of cannabis consumption. The conversation further explored the medical applications of cannabis, highlighting its utility in managing pain, sleep disorders, and other health issues. The conversation also ventured into the areas of women's health, underscoring the lack of research and the growing interest in cannabis for managing conditions like endometriosis and menopause symptoms. It was a reminder of the importance of being an informed consumer, understanding the goal of your cannabis use, and ensuring the safety and efficacy of the products you choose. Our dialogue underscored the evolving landscape of cannabis use and research, highlighting the need for more education and open conversations between consumers and healthcare providers to navigate the complexities of cannabis as both a medicinal and recreational substance. In this episode, I delve deep into a personal narrative that is both vulnerable and relatable—my journey through relationships, dating after divorce, and the tribulations of midlife dating and menopause. I lay bare the emotional rollercoaster I've experienced over the last two and a half years, candidly sharing the highs and lows, and the temptation to succumb to negativity. This isn't just a story of struggle; it's a chronicle of the hard-earned crossroads of hope that I've reached. I want to highlight the importance of not playing the victim or falling into despair, but instead, recognizing that every challenge faced is a step toward a better tomorrow. As I recount the pattern of my past relationships, I emphasize the lessons learned, particularly the need for authenticity and clarity in communicating one's needs. It's a tale of repeated patterns—forming attachments too quickly after the illusion of intimacy and trying to mold incompatible relationships into something they're not. But it's also a story of growth and the realization that it's crucial to hold out for what truly satisfies one's needs, without compromise. From setting arbitrary dating rules to understanding the importance of communication, I explore the interdependence that forms the foundation of a healthy relationship and the self-reflection necessary to find joy and fulfillment on one's own terms. Sex and Menopause- two words that often are not said in a positive light in the same sentence. Society suggests that women that are menopausal are old, washed up and sexless. I'm happy to report that I'm a living, breathing example of busting that myth and I want you to join me. Whatever you're experiencing, hot flashes, dry vaginas, low libido or a sexless marriage, you are not alone! Over 50% of the population will go through the menopause transition over the next 40 years. If you're female and own a vulva, you will be one of those women! Rather than crumble up and join a female ashram where you put yourself out to pasture or relegate yourself to the back of the bedroom, I say embrace it! Get yourself some sex toys, put on some sexy lingerie and embrace your inner sexuality. Menopause is THE opportunity of your lifetime. ENJOY IT! Have any questions? Interested in any topics?
