Random Vegas People in India believe if you don't place a wager during the Diwali Holiday, you will be reincarnated as a Donkey. TwitPic of the week Unique views is always the way to our hearts when it comes to Twitpic of the Week. This time its apparently how Vegas shuts down roads for events like New Years and the Rock and Roll Marathon. But more than that, we get the magic of reflection. Since this photo was taken at night from the overpass crossing Flamingo Rd, we catch a glimpse of the properties lit up behind the photographer. Specifically we see the reflections of Caesars Palace and Bellagio. It makes it look like, if you were looking east of the strip at Las Vegas Blvd and Flamingo, Caesars Palace is behind Cromwell and Bellagio is next door to Horseshoe. Unintended consequences once again makes art. We celebrate that with this selection, shared by @LasVegasLocally News Wynn 20th Anniversary

Random Vegas If you're dealt a winning hand in video poker and accidentally fail to hold some or all of the cards before hitting “deal/draw”, some casinos, upon request, can review the last hand played and pay you what you would have one. The giant MGM lion entrance formerly on the corner of Las Vegas Blvd and Tropicana. It still seems like a silly superstition that designers should have known about. Apparently, Asians consider it bad luck to walk under the mouth of a lion or some variation on that theme. So, they avoided entering the property via this entrance. In response, MGM decided to tear it down just 3 years after opening. It's one of the largest architectural missteps in Vegas history. News Hughes/Silver Slipper Myth Riviera Plans U2 UV Las Vegas Ad
Random Vegas The Sphere has been averaging over $1 million in ticket sales per day. It generated nearly half a billion dollars in revenue for the fiscal year ending June 30th. (LasVegasLocally) TwitPic of the week Talk about things changing but staying the same. This perspective shows us the strip south of the curve in Las Vegas Blvd. Featured prominently is the Mirage marquee. Then, because it's 1994 and Caesars Palace is set back from the strip, and the Dunes site is being prepared for Bellagio construction, we get to see all the way down to Excalibur and the brand-new Luxor. Across the street we see Harrah's while it's still a riverboat called Holiday Casino, then we see LINQ still themed as Imperial Palace. Hilton still owns Flamingo, Bally's still uses MGM Grand's original marquee, and the original Aladdin still exists. Speaking of MGM Grand, in the distance we can see the new MGM Grand and the recently deceased Tropicana. Thanks as always to @Summacorp for sharing this pic. The Sphere said hello for the first time last year with a dazzling Fourth of July fireworks display that cemented its place on the Las Vegas skyline. Since then, the headlines haven't stopped, from an anti-abortion advocate climbing up the side to think pieces about its impact on the future of Las Vegas entertainment. Standing out on Las Vegas Blvd is a hard task, but the Sphere draws attention with quirky emojis and displays to match major events like Formula 1 and the Super Bowl. But have locals embraced such a bright change to the city? City Cast co-host Dayvid Figler sits down with producer Layla Muhammad and Hey Las Vegas editor Rob Kachelriess to recap the Sphere's turbulent first year and look ahead to developments coming in year two. Retail pharmacies like CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens are shuttering hundreds of stores across the country. Las Vegas isn't immune: This Thursday, November 9th, the Walgreens at Charleston and Las Vegas Blvd is closing its doors for good. Neighborhood reactions are divided: We asked locals to call in, and today, host Dayvid Figler and acclaimed author Kim Foster, who both live near the embattled Walgreens, sit down to discuss your thoughts and reactions. Is retail theft really to blame? Is it corporate mismanagement or the hefty opioid settlements levied on these brands? And what happens now? We're on social media! Better known as Syd and TP, the world champions and bench warming besties are determined to become the faces of the WNBA, despite the fact that no one asked them to and far from the top of the A-list star players in the league. Maintaining an honest perspective about each other and their spots on WNBA rosters, the two found gratitude in their opportunities and found ways to stand out amongst the league's top talented players. Embracing their comedic personalities and love from their teammates as being the go-to's for the little things on and off the court but also the ones who lighten the mood and make the sport more fun, Syd and TP took their everyday approach to life and turned it into a tv series and social media sensations. Understanding their role as team players and non-starters for their respective teams, the two forged a bond last season when they were a part of a championship roster who didn't see much playing time but gained popularity through their personality. TP talks about doing the little things as an athlete but also as a teammate which has helped her stay in the league for so long while Syd talks about making the most of her opportunity to be on the highest level doing what she loves everyday while mixing in her other talents and just being her authentic self. Playing with stars like A'ja Wilson and Kelsey Plum, the team doesn't lack stardom and Syd says adding her balance to the roster is something valued by her teammates. TP talks about how her mom being a basketball coach helped shape her love for the sport at a young age yet she didn't really fully embrace her talents until college years at LSU. The two besties have allowed their vulnerability and talent to create their own lane in a sport that landed them a second career. Ryan, Channing and Fred ask about the discrepancies of women's sports on a professional level between the wage gap, different levels of exposure and treatment across the board but Syd and TP chime in on how women's sports are on the rise and gaining traction with more broadcast deals and sold out arenas. The ladies detail how last year's championship parade exceeded expectations and truly was an unbelievable experience with fans lining up blocks of Las Vegas Blvd to celebrate their championship run. Syd, currently on the Las Vegas Aces, who are taking on the NY Liberty in the WNBA finals is one game away from winning back to back titles. A lot of outrage has been swirling around the Las Vegas community this week. First, Elon Musk incited a hate campaign on X (formerly Twitter) towards the Review-Journal and their journalist after she reported on the murder of a retired police chief. Also, shortly following the removal of mature trees on Las Vegas Blvd to make way for F1 grandstands, Las Vegans and tourists are saddened to lose the shade and the iconic backdrop for the Bellagio Fountains. Lastly, a new humanoid robot greeter at The Sphere is bringing both the shock and awe. Host Dayvid Figler is joined by Nevada Independent journalist Tabitha Mueller and writer and contributor Brent Holmes to wade through this week of news. It's been a big year for roads in Las Vegas, from “Dropicana” to F1 ensuring there is no shortage of orange cones on Las Vegas Blvd. Drivers have had to be more cautious than ever, which isn't something we do well in our car-dependent city. Last year we were ranked #8 in the most dangerous states for pedestrians by Smart Growth Nevada. But is it our drivers' fault or the roads? We are revisiting our conversation with plangineer Ray Delahanty, aka CityNerd on YouTube, to better understand why our streets are so deadly and if there's any way to fix them. What. A week. Of news. Before we get into today's topics, we wanted to acknowledge the violence that occurred on the Strip yesterday: Six people were injured and two died in a mass stabbing attack near Las Vegas Blvd. and Sands. It's a lot to process and the story is still developing, so we'll be coming back to it next week. In the meantime, we're got plenty more news to discuss today. Vogue is joined by Dayvid and special guest Geoff Carter, Senior Editor at the Las Vegas Weekly, and they're tackling: 1. The latest news about the Rhodes development abutting Red Rock Canyon (and what some sources are getting wrong about it) 2. Sad puppies at the Animal Foundation! Or at least, the ups and downs of a nonprofit that's now facing a wave of seriously sick pups 3. First Friday's 20th birthday (as Vogue puts it, it's not quite old enough to drink yet) — and Geoff's fantastic retrospective in the Weekly about the evolution of First Friday, for better, worse, and somewhere in between What are your thoughts on the week's news? This week I'm joined by co-host of the ‘Save Our Children Podcast, Bridget Vega, and together we are going to introduce you to one of our greatest inspirations in the music industry: rising independent Phoenix Born hip-hop lyricist, artist, patriot, father, visionary, producer and man of God, Sincerely Collins! Born Kyle Collins, he is a survivor himself having grown up without a father, surviving the early and mysterious disappearance of his mother, surviving homelessness and being able to stand bravely in front of you today after his decision to throw everything he has into hip-hop. In his own words: “I make music for dreamers,” “I make music for people who just know that there's more, I make music for people who have visions, for people who believe in themselves but don't necessarily know how to take action on that.” “Maybe they want to believe in themselves. Maybe they come to me, they come to my music to learn how to believe in themselves or to learn how to break away from the norm as much as they've wanted to their entire life - I just provide that bridge for people to unplug from the Matrix.” And unplugging from The Matrix is exactly what happens when you plug INTO his powerful music. His newest album, “Synchronicities” opens up with tracks such as “War of the Roses” that encapsulate his incredible story of overcoming adversity as a child to an adult and takes you into powerhouse hits like “Revolution” that make you want you blast the volume all the way up as you're driving down Las Vegas Blvd with the windows down. Kyle says about his newest single “Glow” with Hirez and Julia Ross that “This could be the biggest song I've done so far” and a song I highly recommend you download along with his plethora of other albums and singles. He has most recently sat down with Gilbert Police in Arizona to reopen his mother's “Missing Persons File” and after 30 years of unanswered questions, Kyle has found the strength to find answers to a mystery that's plagued him for his whole life. Sincerely Collins is an inspiration and his defiance to the typical Hollywood model in music is encouraging a musical ‘Revolution' in the music industry where artists and aspiring artists all over the world are going independent and following his lead. Brandon Bass walks us through the ins and outs of being in Facebook jail. Having a dark sense of humor does not pair well with the Internet and sometimes ends up in phone calls from your local police department. We talk about censorship, how your personal and business reputations can be ruined in a snap, and how to pivot by making a new identity for yourself. Brandon shows us the ropes of what it takes to be a bull rider. SPOILER ALERT: a lot of broken bones. Yee-haw! We top it off with some conspiracy theories and the hypocrisy of state politics mixed in with men rescuing other men at the bar. Everyone loves a mixed bag of nuts! In the end, a loud explosion goes off upstairs causing us to abruptly stop the episode. Brandon and Josh flee the scene and leave Mery all alone while they jet off to Las Vegas Blvd. Mery calls her mom to come over so she doesn't have to face the spirits in her house alone. There's so much new technology coming down the digital display pike in the next decade that our guest today on the Pro AV Podcast is almost giddy. For this new episode, host Sean Heath sat down with Mitch Rosenberg, senior director of sales for enterprise distribution partnerships at Absen, to break down the kind of long-felt impact mini LED technology will have on the industry. "What you'll see in information [content] that comes to you, through you... It's amazing," Rosenberg said. "I'm so excited about what I see in the next 5-10 years that it's the reason I'll stay in this game probably until my 70s." Rosenberg has spent three decades working with display technology, tracking its first iterations of Light Emitting Diodes to where LED is headed today. "Mini LED is the latest technology in my opinion," he said. "Not micro LED but mini. It's taking LED the next generation up." As exciting as LED displays can be, Rosenberg admits even he has become blind to landmark displays in Las Vegas, Times Square, and Tokoyo. "I walk down Las Vegas Blvd. or Flamingo Blvd., and I don't even look at the signs anymore. They don't grab my attention unless there is something spectacular," Rosenberg said. "Something special has to occur, and that's a combination of content, design, what the display is, and what the manufacturer is -- whether it's LED, 3D, or holographic."

Our Moderator Emily gives hard-hitting stories of food in the news to our panelists and they discuss their attitudes and opinions in our Weekly Baste Segment. This week we discuss Starbucks, butchers cuts, Meghan Markle's baby, barbecue and more. Our guests for The Weekly Grill are Aaron Oster and Justin Kingsley Hall. Aaron Oster is the co-founder and chef of A-OK Berkshire Barbeque, located in North Adams, Massachusetts in the old Sprague Electric guardhouse on the campus of the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. Together with his wife, Alexandra Oster and Orion Howard, Aaron's goal was to put better food on the tables of those within the community and together they provide a simple, straightforward menu, great service and a fun atmosphere. Justin Kingsley Hall gets his inspiration from the people he has met and worked with over the years as he moved around the country from California to North Carolina, Florida, and Nevada as well as his many travels. Justin's main objective is to create food and an experience that inspires conversation; not necessarily about his food but wholesome conversations that cause people to spend more time around the table. He focuses on from scratch farm to table cuisine using sustainably grown, raised & caught seasonal ingredients. Hall is currently preparing to open Main St. Provisions in the Arts District of Las Vegas in the Fall of 2019. He was most recently the Executive Chef of The Kitchen at Atomic in downtown Las Vegas in 2017 he helped open Sparrow + Wolf with Chef Brian Howard whom he had work with previously at Comme Ca in the Cosmopolitan & their West Hollywood Location. Justin has also taught at the Art Institute of Las Vegas for 5 years, co-created a local charity event called Whiskey In The Wilderness and operated SLO Boy, a pop up and catering service which started in a kiosk on Las Vegas Blvd. Traveling around the city as well as out of state his concept was inspired by his wine country upbringing and life in Las Vegas. Infamously known as the Kayotay Tackos episode The themed resort is one of the things that makes Vegas so special. If you just want to gamble, you can find casinos all over the place. Only in Vegas can you walk from an Egyptian pyramid to a Mid-evil Castle to New York City without even traveling a mile. Enter NYNY, MGM’s contribution to the Vegas themed offerings. Located on the corner of the busiest intersection in the United States, Tropicana and Las Vegas Blvd, NYNY was a huge hit from day one. It aimed for the mid-market right out of the gate and they came. Some have argued that the property has an identity crisis with Cirque’s most provocative production in residency while also offering a huge arcade and a roller coaster, clearly aimed at entertaining those not old enough to gamble. Today, it’s one of the anchor properties of MGM’s outdoor promenade “The Park”, a play off of New York’s central park, if only in general concept and location to the themed resort, complete with a 20,000 seat arena and home to the cities first professional team. Coming up on it’s 20th anniversary, it doesn’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon.

Let me tell you a story about what happened last night. In this special episode from Las Vegas, Russell tells a crazy story about how he almost got shot. He also talks about why Sushi with Pop Rocks is amazing. Here are some fun things to listen for in today's episode: How Russell discovered Pop rock Sushi. Why Russell thought he stumbled upon a movie set with Matt Damon. And How Russell almost got shot outside of the Bellagio. So listen below to hear Russell tell this crazy story about an officer involved shooting. ---Transcript--- Hey everyone, this is Russell Brunson and this is Marketing In Your Car. Alright that's a lie, I'm not in my car. I'm in Las Vegas. My wife and I are here for a couple of days. The Pruvit event is happening, so we're here to support that. And to be speaking a little bit, sharing one of the funnels we're building for the Pruvit guys, which will be cool. Other than that we're hanging out in Vegas. Brian, who is the owner of Pruvit, we didn't know this until we got here, they booked us a room, and he booked us a huge suite. I feel like a rock star right now, this suite is bigger than my house. Well, not quite but it's pretty awesome. I wanted to tell you guys a crazy story. Last night we decided to go to a show so we jumped in Uber. We're headed out to the Bellagio, because the show is in the Bellagio. So we're getting there, we had to be at the box office by 7:30 to get our tickets. Being the great planner my wife is, we got there at 7:15. We pull into the Bellagio front entranceway, past the fountains. We get out of the car, we get our tickets and then we decided to go to Yellowtail. If you've never been to Yellowtail, it's a sushi place inside of the Bellagio. It's famous because they have a sushi roll that is rolled in pop rocks. Now the way I found out, a couple of years ago I was in this club called EO, you may of heard of it, it used to be called YEO, Young Entrepreneurs Organization , then all those young entrepreneurs got old and they changed the name to EO. There's still a YEO and then there's EO, there's two of them, right. So I was in this group, I was only in it for a few months and got kicked out because their rules are if you miss a meeting you can't keep coming. I got kicked out cause I missed a meeting. Anyway, I'm in my EO Forum, we all went to Vegas together, when we were here, I don't drink and all of them did. We did indoor skydiving, and they all wanted sushi and they were all real drunk. They were like, “You're the only one sober here, Russell, you can order something for us.” So I'm like alright and I'm ordering sushi like crazy, I have no idea what I'm even ordering. I'm just ordering a bunch for a table, like ten guys. Then they're bringing out sushi and we're eating tons of it. These guys are getting drunker and drunker, and I'm just eating sushi having a great time. All the sudden I grab one of these rolls they brought out, pop one into my mouth and it starts popping. I'm like, “What the heck is this,” I grab the waiter and I'm like, “Dude, my mouth is popping. What's happening?” and he's like, “Oh yeah, that's our,” whatever roll”, we roll it in pop rocks.” That is the coolest thing ever. So next time you're in Vegas go to the Bellagio and eat at yellowtail and eat pop rock sushi, cause it's amazing. So we're in the Bellagio, of course we're going to go to yellowtail and get pop rock sushi, because what else are you going to do in Vegas. There's nothing else better. So, we're in Yellowtail, eating pop rock sushi having a great time. We have an hour before our show and we decide to walk around outside to the fountains. We go outside the Bellagio, there's a bridge. So we walk onto the bridge and all the sudden we look over to the side and on both sides there's thousands of cop cars, everywhere. We notice we're on the bridge, we're looking over, and all the sudden there's cops on both sides of the bridge yelling, “Get off the bridge, get off the bridge!” So we run over the bridge to get to the other side. There's cops blocking the escalators and all these things. So we get over there and we're like, “Crap, we need to get back to the Bellagio. But the whole street on both sides of the Bellagio is completely blocked by cop cars. There's no way to get back. We walked over to this cop, “How are we supposed to get back?” and he's like, “You have to walk clear around this other way and then jay walk if you are ever going to get back to the Bellagio tonight.” And we're like, “What is happening?” and he's like, “I don't know, I think they're filming a Bourne movie or something.” So we're like, “Dude, are you serious? We're going to see the Bourne movie. We're going to see Matt Damon.” We're going crazy, excited. How cool would that be to see the Bourne movie? So we walk around the whole thing, jay walk to get back to the Bellagio. We're out front where the car pick up. We're looking out and we see cop cars wrapping the whole thing all around. We see cop cars, we see new cars. Maybe that's like the film crew and all these things. We're just watching like, “This is so cool. We're going to see this big celebrity come out. We're just waiting for something awesome to happen. Then nothing awesome happened. We had to go back to our show. We went to the show, saw the circus. I can't remember what it's called. Circus thing where they do flips into water. It's pretty cool. Then we leave and the whole thing is still blocked off, “Man, this must be a huge movie shoot. It's been like 3 or 4 hours since we were there.” We call the Uber , and the Uber guy's like, “ the strip is all blocked off, he can't' get here to pick you up. So we had to walk for like a mile to find the Uber dude. So then we did that, and Ubered back. So then we get home and then today, we get the news paper in our huge suite. The front page says, “Shooting closes part of the strip. Part of the strip was closed Friday night as police investigate an officer involved shooting that occurred on the sidewalk in front of the Bellagio fountains after man was reportedly waving a gun and pointing it at people. Metropolitan police dept. officer, Harry Ladful confirmed the incident was an officer involved shooting and that the male suspect, whose name was not released, is in police custody. Later police briefings on the scene, metro captain, Matt McCarthey said that at least two people were grazed by bullets during the shooting. The suspect was being booked in the Clark County Detention Center on numerous charges.” This is the best part. “The shooting occurred in front of the hotel casino fountains, 3600 Las Vegas BLVD south, just after 7:15 pm. 7:15! Do you remember what I told you a few seconds ago? We pulled up in the Uber in front of the fountains at 7:15! I could have been one of those dudes that was grazed by a bullet, which is crazy. Later in the article it says that a lot of people thought that it was the filming for the Bourne movies, but it was not. The Bourne movie was filmed last week. That 3 or 4 times parts of Vegas had been shut down this week for filming for the Bourne movie, but it wasn't this. So isn't that crazy? Yeah, it was pretty crazy. That was our night. We survived luckily, but it was close. We could have been grazed, as multiple people were. I just wanted to share that with you guys. That was kind of cool. It has nothing to do with marketing or business, but I thought it was interesting and kind of fun and kind of crazy. That's it you guys, I'm going to go down right now to the Pruvit event. I'm going to see some real marketing happening. It's fun watching this with Pruvit, they're a network marketing company. It's fun seeing how network marketers run their events, and how they do all their stuff. The one really interesting thing to me is that the majority of their time is on building belief and building relationships. You go to any of our events it's focused on giving cool ideas and tips, things to increase what you're doing. It's all content. This is not. It's like recognition, team building, belief. It's interesting. It's backwards in my mind. There's obviously value. You go to MLM events, sometimes there are 2 or 3 thousand or 5 thousand people or more, where you don't normally see that at the training events. We're going to try to do more and more the blend of those two things at our events. We've got, personal development, team building stuff along with all the content. Hopefully get the best of both worlds. I thought that kind of was interesting. I'm going to go hang out. I'm sure I'll be sharing with you guys messages from inside. Whatever happens. Appreciate you all. Have an amazing day. We'll talk soon.
Let me tell you a story about what happened last night. In this special episode from Las Vegas, Russell tells a crazy story about how he almost got shot. He also talks about why Sushi with Pop Rocks is amazing. Here are some fun things to listen for in today’s episode: How Russell discovered Pop rock Sushi. Alright that’s a lie, I’m not in my car. I’m in Las Vegas. My wife and I are here for a couple of days. The Pruvit event is happening, so we’re here to support that. And to be speaking a little bit, sharing one of the funnels we’re building for the Pruvit guys, which will be cool. Other than that we’re hanging out in Vegas. Brian, who is the owner of Pruvit, we didn’t know this until we got here, they booked us a room, and he booked us a huge suite. I feel like a rock star right now, this suite is bigger than my house. Well, not quite but it’s pretty awesome. I wanted to tell you guys a crazy story. Last night we decided to go to a show so we jumped in Uber. We’re headed out to the Bellagio, because the show is in the Bellagio. So we’re getting there, we had to be at the box office by 7:30 to get our tickets. Being the great planner my wife is, we got there at 7:15. We pull into the Bellagio front entranceway, past the fountains. We get out of the car, we get our tickets and then we decided to go to Yellowtail. If you’ve never been to Yellowtail, it’s a sushi place inside of the Bellagio. It’s famous because they have a sushi roll that is rolled in pop rocks. Now the way I found out, a couple of years ago I was in this club called EO, you may of heard of it, it used to be called YEO, Young Entrepreneurs Organization , then all those young entrepreneurs got old and they changed the name to EO. There’s still a YEO and then there’s EO, there’s two of them, right. So I was in this group, I was only in it for a few months and got kicked out because their rules are if you miss a meeting you can’t keep coming. I got kicked out cause I missed a meeting. Anyway, I’m in my EO Forum, we all went to Vegas together, when we were here, I don’t drink and all of them did. We did indoor skydiving, and they all wanted sushi and they were all real drunk. They were like, “You’re the only one sober here, Russell, you can order something for us.” So I’m like alright and I’m ordering sushi like crazy, I have no idea what I’m even ordering. I’m just ordering a bunch for a table, like ten guys. Then they’re bringing out sushi and we’re eating tons of it. These guys are getting drunker and drunker, and I’m just eating sushi having a great time. All the sudden I grab one of these rolls they brought out, pop one into my mouth and it starts popping. I’m like, “What the heck is this,” I grab the waiter and I’m like, “Dude, my mouth is popping. What’s happening?” and he’s like, “Oh yeah, that’s our,” whatever roll”, we roll it in pop rocks.” That is the coolest thing ever. So next time you’re in Vegas go to the Bellagio and eat at yellowtail and eat pop rock sushi, cause it’s amazing. So we’re in the Bellagio, of course we’re going to go to yellowtail and get pop rock sushi, because what else are you going to do in Vegas. There’s nothing else better. So, we’re in Yellowtail, eating pop rock sushi having a great time. We have an hour before our show and we decide to walk around outside to the fountains.
