However, Carney is not saying that, indeed he cannot; he's spent over a year telling Canadians that President Trump's trade and economic demands are not going to be accepted by Canada.  However, what he is factually doing is exactly what President Trump has demanded. Prime Minister Carney is saying he is restricting Steel and Aluminum imports from non-free trade agreement countries, and he is lowering the tonnage of Steel and Aluminum that will be permitted for import.  His claim is that this approach will help drive up “domestic demand” for Canadian Steel and Aluminum, but that's ancillary to the real objective. President Trump has demanded Canada stop importing cheap steel and aluminum mostly from China; including manufactured component goods that are made with steel and aluminum (think autos).  Canada would not stop, because they could not stop.  Their manufacturing base, green energy and climate change economy, is more of a component assembly system now. So, President Trump hit Canada with a 35% tariff, and things got ugly.  In June Trump raised the tariff to 50%. The back and forth has gone on all year. Carney now announces restrictions on imported steel and aluminum, as well as restrictions on imported derivative goods that come from steel and aluminum, in combination with a spending plan to bolster the Canadian steel and aluminum manufacturing base.  This ends up shifting the Canadian industrial sector to making steel and aluminum products without Chinese import dependency. En Ouganda, une jeune ingénieure s'attaque à un fléau silencieux : la mort de nouveau-nés faute d'équipements adaptés dans les zones rurales. Vivian Arinaitwe a mis au point un couffin chauffant, fabriqué à partir de matériaux recyclés, pour transporter les bébés prématurés en toute sécurité vers les hôpitaux. Son invention, baptisée NeoNest, vient d'être distinguée par l'Académie royale d'ingénierie au Royaume-Uni.  Vivian Arinaitwe a 24 ans. Diplômée en ingénierie biomédicale, elle a grandi dans un village à l'ouest de l'Ouganda, loin de tout hôpital. C'est là qu'est née l'idée de NeoNest : « Quand on était enfant, on entendait ces histoires, nos parents disaient : "Oh le bébé de cette femme est mort parce qu'il était bleu"… » Dans de nombreux centres de santé du pays, il n'existe pas d'équipement pour stabiliser les bébés prématurés. Ils doivent être transférés vers des hôpitaux mieux équipés, parfois à plusieurs heures de route. « La plupart de ces bébés sont prématurés ou ont besoin de soins urgents, donc il faut les amener rapidement vers une unité de soins intensifs, parfois à six, huit ou dix heures du village. Actuellement, il n'y a pas de moyen de les transporter en sécurité, on les emmaillote juste dans des draps. » Un nid chauffant pour un transport en toute sécurité C'est pour ces trajets souvent périlleux que Vivian a imaginé NeoNest : un petit nid de transport chauffant, simple d'usage et pensé pour les zones rurales. La priorité : maintenir le nouveau-né à la bonne température, autour de 37 degrés, pendant tout le trajet. Sa batterie tient plus de six heures, et le système envoie une alerte en cas de baisse de chaleur. « Ça, vous voyez, c'est le capteur de température sur le bébé qui nous donne sa température en temps réel », explique-t-elle.  À l'intérieur, le couffin est ajusté pour absorber les secousses des routes en terre et protéger les bébés. « Le bébé doit être transporté de manière à ce qu'il ne remue pas, donc on peut vraiment ajuster le nid à la taille du bébé, et on a aussi des lanières, parce que NeoNest n'est pas conçu seulement pour les ambulances, mais aussi pour les motos, les vélos, ou même à pied », détaille Vivian Arinaitwe. Une invention saluée par la Royal Academy of Engineering Un dispositif fabriqué localement, à partir de plastique recyclé de bidons d'eau. Cette année, NeoNest a valu à Vivian d'être finaliste du Prix africain d'ingénierie décerné par la Royal Academy of Engineering. Le jury, présidé par l'entrepreneure camerounaise Rebecca Enonchong, a salué le potentiel de ce projet pour sauver des milliers de vies : « Il y a d'autres zones, on peut parler d'Asie, on peut parler d'autres zones en voie de développement qui pourraient bénéficier de cette technologie. Non seulement ça, mais l'innovation créée peut être appliquée différemment, c'est-à-dire comment utiliser moins de ressources. » Au-delà de l'invention, Vivian veut un modèle durable : chaque unité revient à environ 115 euros, pour un prix de vente d'un peu plus de 280. Son objectif : qu'au moins un NeoNest soit disponible dans chaque centre de santé du pays.

On part pour un témoignage en deux épisodes . J'ai l'immense plaisir de vous présenter Sarah. On avait initialement un objectif assez précis avec Sarah concernant le thème de cet épisode. D'ailleurs le moment de sa diffusion ne doit rien au hasard, mais il faudra attendre la deuxième partie pour le découvrir. Pour ce premier épisode donc , on plonge dans l'avant allaitement, et on suit l'allaitement de son premier enfant ou Sarah pensait comme tant d'autres « essayer d'allaiter ». Après une naissance un poil prématurée et un début en tire-allaitement exclusif, une fois ce bébé mis au sein, rien ne les a arrêtés, si ce n'est cet enfant grandissant qui choisit un jour de se sevrer en disant : "c'est pour laisser le lait à ton bébé". Car oui, Sarah était enceinte sans le savoir est cela marquait le début d'une seconde histoire d'allaitement qui sera bien plus rocambolesque que la première .Je vous laisse écouter cette première partie que j'ai pris énormément de plaisir à écouter dans ses détails, j'espère que vous aussi vous vous laisserez bercer par ce long récit dont chaque minute vaut sincèrement la peine d'être décortiquée. Helgi Pétursson, eða Helgi Pé eins og hann er jafnan kallaður, kemur upprunalega úr Kópavoginum og hefur lengst af verið kenndur við Ríó Tríó, en þeir félagar stofnuðu hljómsveitina kornungir. Aujourd'hui, à l'occasion du Podcasthon, l'évènement solidaire du monde du podcast, je vous propose d'écouter Emeline, la présidente de l'association A Bras Cadabra qui offre des trousseaux de première nécessité aux bébés prématurés ou hospitalisés. Ses trousseaux sont cousus ou tricotés par des bénévoles de l'association ou par un ESAT partenaire, avec des matériaux respectueux des besoins très particuliers des bébés. Ce sont 55 000 bébés concernés chaque année en France et autant de familles qui souffrent de voir ces premiers instants de vie tellement difficiles. Du réconfort et du soutien, on peut tous en apporter et c'est ce dont on discute avec Emeline : nos dons financiers, nos dons de temps, nos adhésions à l'association et nos créations cousues ou tricotées main, mais pas seulement, vont vraiment faire une différence auprès des familles. L'association fête ses 10 ans cette année alors j'espère qu'avec votre participation, on pourra donner un beau coup de pouce et apporter notre pierre à l'édifice. Après 14 ans de conflit en Syrie, les récents développements sont sources d'espoir, mais aussi d'incertitudes pour des millions de réfugiés ou exilés syriens dans le monde.Alors que des pays européens entament la suspension des demandes d'asile des réfugiés syriens et préparent un plan de rapatriement, l'Agence de l'ONU pour les réfugiés appelle à faire preuve de patience et de vigilance.Selon le HCR, la situation reste encore incertaine, pour permettre des retours volontaires, sûrs et durables. Au fur et à mesure que la situation évolue positivement, le HCR se dit prêt à soutenir les États dans le cadre de tout retour volontaire organisé.Pour aborder toute cette problématique du retour des réfugiés syriens, un porte-parole du HCR William Spindler a répondu aux questions d'Alpha Diallo.
