Dan and Vicky discuss the found footage horror thriller Megan is Missing. The film, starring many first time actors and shot for under a week on a $35,000 budget, was the brain child of cinematographer Michael Goi. Goi was eager to make a cautionary tale on the dangers of online predators and so impressed Anchor Bay Films they gave the movie, shot in 2008, a small theatrical release in 2011. Starring Amber Perkins and Rachel Quinn, Megan is Missing has divided critics - some applauding it's unflinching look at the dangers of being a teen in the internet age and others calling it exploitative. Dan and Vicky share their very strong responses to the film as well as catching us up on some recently seen like Heretic, The Exorcism, Red One, All Hallow's Eve and It's What's Inside. For more information: https://klaaskids.org/ "A controversial 2011 horror film has regained popularity after TikTok users branded it “traumatising”. Written and directed by Michael Goi, Megan is Missing is a found-footage psychological horror film centred around two 14-year-old high school students, Megan (Rachel Quinn) and Amy (Amber Perkins). The film takes place in the days leading up to Megan's disappearance after she goes to meet up with a boy she met online. Although it was filmed in 2006, the film didn't find distribution until 2011 and was banned in New Zealand for its “objectionable” content, with the country's classification office writing that “the availability of the publication is likely to be injurious to the public good”. Although he is working on his first feature film, Michael Arcos has already developed a unique, recognizable style in his short films. Michael joins the boys this week to talk about a few of those short films, moving to New Orleans, and his influences. He also trades strip club stories with Russ and Clark. In the intro, Randy wanks for "Mank", Clark saw a bummer of a found footage double feature and Russ stumbled upon a brutal and bizarre film from his birthday brethren, Ruggero Deodato Films: The Night They Knocked (2020), Noise in the Middle (2020), Mank (2020), Citizen Kane (1941), The Twentieth Century (2019), Bad Seeds (2013), Megan Is Missing (2011), Freaky (2020), The Washing Machine (1993), Valerio's Day Out (2019), Trumbo (2015), The Artist (2011), Brian Posehn: The Fartist (2013), Cats (2019), Eyes Wide Shut (1999), The Green Fog (2017), Cuties (2020), Cannibal Holocaust (1980), The Beaver Trilogy (2000), Cat Sick Blues (2015), Jug Face (2013), American Horror Story 1984 (TV Series) Check out some of Michael's shorts at his Vimeo Channel! Back after 3 months and we give an update on life starting with... we have COVID, we got a new dog, the country is shutting down and everyone is trying to figure out who to blame, we talk about one of the worst movies I have ever seen "Megan Is Missing", can't wait to be back again! A horror movie gone viral on TikTok nine years after its release? This week we're talking "Megan is Missing," the trending found footage film from 2011 that has since been banned in New Zealand and garnered the attention of all horror movie fans for its extreme depictions of two teenage girls who are abducted, sexually assaulted and murdered by a mysterious man.
This slice of extreme cinema barely made a splash on release in 2011 but has inexplicably attained a whole new life on YouTube through TikTok. Hugely controversial and easy to dismiss for either its amateur elements or its brutal content, none the less this internet predator horror is a valid film, that paints as nihilistic and confronting a portrait of young teens as the legendary film Kids and whose portrayal of matter of fact abuse, sex and drug taking is nearly as shocking as the near unwatchable last half hour. Abandon hope ye who enter.
New Movies: Run- A homeschooled teenager begins to suspect her mother is keeping a dark secret from her. Unhinged - After a confrontation with an unstable man at an intersection, a woman becomes the target of his rage. The Twentieth Century - Determined to become the leader of the Dominion of Canada, a young W.L. Mackenzie King rises to power. Vanguard - Covert security company Vanguard is the last hope of survival for an accountant after he is targeted by the world's deadliest mercenary organization. Asylum Twisted Horror and Fantasy Tales - Struggling comedian Brandon is determined to get through one final show. As the night progresses he starts to relate to his subject matter and slowly wins over his crowd. His final bit was killer, but was anyone left to appreciate it?? Megan is Missing - Two teenage girls encounter an Internet child predator.Undisputed ClassicBlazing Saddles - In order to ruin a western town, a corrupt politician appoints a black Sheriff, who promptly becomes his most formidable adversary. 1990 Dances With Wolves - Lieutenant John Dunbar, assigned to a remote western Civil War outpost, befriends wolves and Indians, making him an intolerable aberration in the military. Predator 2 - The Predator returns to Earth, this time to stake a claim on the war-torn streets of a dystopian Los Angeles.Three Men and a Little Lady - Three ex-dads quickly discover how empty life is without their little lady, and go to outrageous lengths in their efforts to win their daughter back in this critically acclaimed and equally charming sequel. The Nutcracker Prince - An adaption of the classic tale of a girl's dreams turned reality when her new toy turns out to be a young man placed under a curse.

#podcast #mockumentary #foundfootage #horror #sexual #tennager #kidnapping #rape #socialnetwork #challenge #Missing

For this episode, we discuss MEGAN IS MISSING, a 2011 found-footage horror film that has recently been resurrected due to TikTokers watching it and having VERY STRONG opinions. The film has gone viral on Twitter and Facebook, and people are firmly divided. What do we think? Our next episode coming later this week will be a deep-dive into that crazy, 22-minute audio clip that Annie Cushing released on her livestream a couple weeks ago. Is Lori Vallow evil, or was she just following scripture a bit too literally? We will discuss it and break it down with the help of a very special guest. ------------------------------------------------Website: http://www.wesawthedevil.com Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/WeSawtheDevil Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/wesawthedevilpodcastPatreon: http://www.patreon.com/wesawthedevil --------------------------------------------- We would like to thank our Executive Producers: Maureen M Tamara R Emalie S Michele K Ylana Dawn M Faye S Christy K Ashley M LeeAnn M Cristi R Shawna S Iris-Dora S Ian M Michelle P Christina S Amy S ...as well as all of our other Patrons! Two teenage girls encounter an Internet child predator.
Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy in quarantine! This week we're taking a look at how scary imaginary friends can be! In our FIRST CHOP, Tim goes searching for MEGAN IS MISSING (2011), checks out some TALES FROM THE CRYPTKEEPER, and survives TAMMY AND THE T-REX (1994)! Brian discusses a cool new feature from VUDU, talks about the recent ANNA & THE APOCALYPSE TWEET-ALONG, and plays some SIMULACRA! Then we'll look at the recent thriller DANIEL ISN'T REAL. This tale of an imaginary friend with sinister leanings certainly looked spooky, but did Daniel live up to his promise? Grab a beer, look over your shoulder for invisible playmates, then join us for a brand new quarantine episode of CIVIL GORE!
Megan is missing. Megan and her friend Amy, two really dumb 14 year olds, go missing. Megan is the popular one, and Amy is the nerdy one. Megan drags Amy with her to some real messed up situations. After a while, Megan gets tired of the BS and meets a dude online. After talking to him for a total of 2 days she agrees to meet him and shockingly goes missing. Amy kind of figures out what is going on and also goes missing. This is their story... Yeahhhhhh!!!!

Happy New Year! Do you know where your children are right now? If you take "torture porn", found footage and an after school special and put them in a blender, you get Megan Is Missing. I was surprised how notorious this film was online, especially the last 20 minutes, so I had to see what the fuss was all about for myself.
