Nick Rowley reviews how we are sitting on the road to net zero by 2050, what is possible given the politics, and what is necessary given the science.

4. People often think that it's wrong to pursue meritorious medical malpractice / negligence cases against negligent health care providers. It's actually the opposite. If we care about the quality of care patients receive, and want to make healthcare better, then we must insist on accountability. Sadly, the only way to effectively do that is through exercising our civil rights. Our healthcare systems are money based systems. There are wonderful healthcare providers out there, but there are also bad providers and bad practices that will not change unless we ourselves, as citizens, effectuate the change. Thanks for tuning in to this episode of Brutal Honesty. Azincourt Energy is developing critical alternative energy projects and currently exploring for uranium in Saskatchewan's Athabasca Basin, targeting Canada's next uranium discovery. They are one step closer to that distinction having completed a Winter 2023 drill program at their flagship East Preston project. Azincourt recently announced the acquisition of a Lithium project in Newfoundland that diversifies exploration potential while providing multiple projects allowing for year round exploration activities and discovery opportunities. Azincourt Energy's extensive drill program for the winter of 2022-2023, consisted of 3,066 metres in 13 drill holes. Two drill rigs were able to complete 12 drill holes focusing on 4 zones, continuing to evaluate the alteration zones and elevated uranium identified during the 2022 drill campaign. The drilling has confirmed that the geophysical conductors comprise structurally disrupted zones hosting accumulations of graphite, sulphides, and carbonates, with hydrothermal alteration, anomalous radioactivity, and elevated uranium present in these zones. Azincourt considers the drilling results to date to be significant, as major uranium discoveries in the Athabasca Basin such as McArthur River, Key Lake, and Millennium were primarily the result of drill testing of strong alteration zones related to conductor features. The decision to explore for uranium is driven by the increasing global demand for clean energy and the stronger demand for uranium than available supply, resulting in a stable price environment and economic incentives for exploration. With approximately 50 reactors under construction worldwide and a reduction in overall mining production, the pressure on available supply provides confidence for companies seeking to make a significant discovery. Saskatchewan, with its rich history of uranium production and uranium grades up to 10 to 100 times the world average, presents a favorable environment for exploration and economic discoveries. What makes Azincourt even more compelling from a shareholder perspective is that they are in a position to double down on potential discoveries with the recent acquisition of the Big Hill Lithium project from Atlantis Battery Metals. Azincourt Energy is now well-positioned to explore and develop not only uranium but also lithium projects, leveraging the expertise and experience of the Atlantis Battery Metals team. "It's in your cells. It's in your DNA. It's a burning, vibrating chord that never stops. It sees injustice and needs to go out and make things right. The righteous fight. That's what the best trial lawyers have in common.” - Nick Rowley What fuels one of the most accomplished trial lawyers in the world? Why are his losses the biggest learning experiences? How did he develop an ethos of extreme responsibility? What do the best trial lawyers have in common? What habits keep him sharp in trial and life? How is he using Ketamine assisted therapy to work through his past trauma? Building and maintaining an empire of such magnitude is exhausting. After so much success, why continue? Break the Mold Billion-dollar victories. Legal revolutionary. Philanthropist. Countless awards. Author. Nick Rowley is a tireless warrior for justice and one of the most accomplished trial lawyers of his generation. Nick's unbridled tenacity — matched only by his defiance — was ingrained by childhood adversity. "If you can't kill me, you're never going to stop me." - Nick Rowley Every time Nick was knocked down, he sprung up with more energy — and rage. In the first decade of his legal career, anger both fueled and limited his success. But with time comes perspective. And asked himself a game changing question: Could he shift from aggression to love — and be even more successful? "And that has been my project over the second half of my career." - Nick Rowley Today Nick shares the value of learning from our losses, what all great trial lawyers have in common, and how the biggest risks come with the greatest rewards. Brutal Honesty When an attorney asks a juror for unfiltered truth, there is a shift in the courtroom. A connection is formed — one based on trust. But creating space for others to be brutally honest does not come easily. The price is vulnerability: giving strangers that have doubts about you permission to think what they want and say how they feel. When you open the courtroom to honesty based in trust, you are rewarded with a jury that lets down their guard and sees your plaintiff as a human, just like them, deserving of restitution. Key takeaways: Get back up. You may not win every case, but even in loss, there are valuable lessons. Every time you are knocked down, you get to choose if you will get back up to fight another day. Extreme responsibility. When something goes wrong — a case is lost at trial or the settlement is less than desired — find a way to take 100% of the blame, even if you are 1% responsible. Taking ownership of the problem will move you forward. Care for yourself. To fight injustice and win cases, you need to care for your mental and physical body. Poison your body and see the negative effects in trial. This week we're replaying a classic episode where your hosts Steve Lowry and Yvonne Godfrey interview Nick Rowley and Steve Halteman of Carpenter, Zuckerman, & Rowley, (https://czrlaw.com/). Remember to rate and review GTP in iTunes: Click Here To Rate and Review Episode Details: Award-winning trial lawyer Nick Rowley -- a U.S. Air Force and Army veteran and one of the youngest trial lawyers to be named Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles' Trial Lawyer of the Year -- explains how he represented grieving mother Carmen Jordan after her 33-year-old son Orlando Jordan was stabbed and killed in a Riverside, California TGI Fridays restaurant by an intoxicated minor and his friend. Steve Halteman, jury consultant and Nick's co-author of the book, Trial By Human, assisted with the case and joins Steve and Yvonne to discuss this trial. In January 2009, Orlando was enjoying a date with his girlfriend when her son Michael Castillo, 20, and his friend Louis Martinez, 27, arrived at the restaurant. Already intoxicated, Michael and Louis ordered 12 servings of alcohol in the span of 30 minutes without being asked for identification. Michael proceeded to get into a heated argument with Orlando and stabbed him. Orlando later succumbed to his injuries. Despite TGI Fridays restaurant operator Briad Group's attempts to deny any responsibility, the family's allegations were supported by the head bartender, who testified that Briad Group made a deliberate decision to not card minors in order to increase profits on Fridays and Saturdays. A Riverside County, California jury awarded Orlando's parents $40 million in damages and assigned 55% of the blame to Briad Group. Michael and Louis were both convicted in separate criminal trials and sentenced to serve time in state prison. Click Here to Read/Download the Complete Trial Documents Guest Bio: Nicholas C. #33: Welcome back to our special edition Trial All-Star Series, where we interview the best trial lawyers in the country and share their secrets to success over the past decade and beyond. In this episode we sit down with Nick Rowley, a trial lawyer known across the USA for his passion in fighting for justice for injury victims and their families. Nick is a published author, national speaker and the founder of Trial By Human and Trial Lawyers For Justice. He has over 150+ jury trials under his belt, recovering over 1.5 Billion dollars in verdicts and settlements for his clients. He is also a major advocate for putting an end to California's regressive cap on medical malpractice damages; personally leading the charge with the Fairness for Injured Patients Act (FIPA).
In this episode, Nick Rowley, one of the most well known trial attorneys America, discusses the Fairness Act. The Fairness Act is a reform to MICRA. In 1975, the state of California passed a law called the Medical Injury Compensation Reform Act (MICRA). This law put a cap on damages for medical malpractice claims. MICRA set a cap of $250,000 on medical malpractice claims. This amount has NEVER been adjusted for inflation over the almost 50 years it has been in place. The Fairness Act reforms MICRA to adjust for the increase in inflation so that the cap more accurately reflects today's dollars. Nick tells the story of why changing this law is so important to him. Nick also exposes the political corruption in California and why MICRA has never been changed. Nick has offered to give up his license to practice law in California in exchange for a more fair and just system in California. This podcast was re-purposed from the Nation State of Play podcast. A special thank you to Bryan Miller, JC Polk and all of those at Neptune Ops and IVC Media for sharing this content with us.
