Welcome to another episode of "Elevating Early Childhood!" In this episode, we unravel the secrets to creating a successful preschool writing center from Day 1.
We love to talk about school as a new school year rolls around, and we look at sending our kids off to school for another year. We thought we would start with preschool and chat with Kaite, who has spent her time as a classroom special education teacher, coach, and on the child find team. We discuss early education and the importance of early education. Katie discusses how preschool can teach really how it is to be at school, a stepping stone for the rest of the school experience. We talk about inclusion, teaching kids early about differences, and how starting that early can make such a big difference. Katie made a huge impact for Jaime and Jesse, we love her perspective on working with parents. Katie Wyderko is a wife of a firefighter and mom to a 5-year-old girl. Teachers, have you ever felt like a failure? Of course you have, and so have I! Every teacher out there feels like a failure some, or even all of the time. And that feeling of failure, it can really drag you down if you let it, am I right? That's exactly why #teacher quittok exists. But before you throw in the towel and turn in your resignation, I encourage you to watch/listen to this episode until the very end because I'm going to share my #1 method to help you STOP feeling like a failure, and start experiencing that sweet success you deserve.
Listen, it's no secret that teaching preschoolers isn't easy peasy. It's full of ups and downs with lots of bumps along the way, which leaves you exhausted from trying to find a balance between work and life. You just wish somebody would tell you what to teach and when to teach it, so you can find time to do the endless mounds of laundry or cook the occasional meal for your family. If any of this sounds familiar to you, I want you to know that you're not alone. In this episode of Elevating Early Childhood I'm sharing my top 3 tips for knowing what to teach and when to teach it in your pre-K classroom.
Pam Machefsky AKA Teacher Pam is known for running the most sought out classroom in every preschool she's ever worked in. And she's worked in quite a few. Pam was successfully guiding and inspiring little hearts and minds long before the Nurtured Heart even came into existence. As a girl, I always marveled at Pam's twinkly smile, ready laugh, and positive way of saying everything. She had a way of making you feel important and valued and I wanted to get some of her wisdom on air. Enjoy people, she is a treasure! Want to hear more from Pam? Send your question to QandAwithMussi@gmail.com and I'll book another recording. See you next time! Mussi
Let me ask you a question, how is teaching Pre-K different from, let's say, 4th grade? Or even first, second, or third grade? It's an entirely different animal, isn't it? So, if you've you been moved down to Pre-K from a higher grade, OR you're brand new to teaching Pre-K, Then this episode of elevating early childhood is for you! And if you're an administrator, instructional coach, or a classroom teacher who works with teachers new to Pre-K – you'll find this episode useful too!
In this episode we chat to Jenn Vickers, a preschool teacher in New Hampshire USA who's over 18 months alcohol-free! Jenn talks to us about how her drinking crept up when she became a Mum - her husband Craig was at work and she had three children under 5 years old at home, and the time she started drinking started to move earlier and earlier - a story we've heard a fair few times. Jenn also talks to us about how she felt ashamed of how she'd started to drink because of her job - as she says early in this episode, can you get more wholesome than being a preschool teacher in a quaint American town?! She tells us that she drank privately, secretly, and the damage that this did. After one return to use that she talks to us about very openly, Jenn is confident that sobriety is the right choice for her. It was a pleasure to finally meet her after lots of chats on Instagram! --- Get In Touch: Of course, you can always get in touch with us (publicly or privately) on our socials - @alcoholfreepod on Instagram, or search for "Over The Influence" on Facebook.
