This week we are off on a paranormal road trip around some of Illinois most haunted locations outside of Chicago in the company of our good friends director Joe Tury and Chad Lewis. The Seven Gates of Hell feature is a popular piece of urban folklore, a series of portals in the Hellam Township which open an entrance to the fiery pit below. There are many different variations of the tale; though one of the more popular versions links the gates to a former insane asylum on the outskirts of the town. Our special guest for this program will be Frater Heracles of our Austin, Texas lodge who just presented a spectacular Festival of Seven Gates and will give us his first hand impressions of this revived ancient rite and how it is done in the 21st century. On Thursday September 20th, 2012, the Hermetic Hour host Poke Runyon and special guest Frater Osiris, Magister of the Atlanta Hermitage of the Church of the Hermetic Sciences, will recap the exciting magical weekend of festivities and initiatory rites held at the secluded estate of Frater Osiris and Soror Isis in the wooded hills north of Atlanta. The Festival of Seven Gates was performed by torchlight  at Morning Glory Henge within a beautiful garden setting on Saturday night. On Sunday Fra. Thabion and Sor. Zandria, assisted by Fra. Osiris and Sor. Isis, initiated the entire cast of Associate Members in attendance into the active fold of the Church in the Pastophoris rite of Crata Repoa, thus fully establishing the Encampment as a Hermitage of the Church. The entire weekend was wonderfully and graciously hosted, and skillfully organized and coordinated by Fra. Osiris and Sor. Isis. Associate Members from other nearby States made the trip to be initiated. The Atlanta Hermitage at Morning Glory Henge is now the Southeastern hub of CHS/OTA activity. So tune in and we'll exchange impressions of a truly magical event.

On this Thursday's Hermetic Hour host Poke Runyon will welcome Wor. Frater Osiris, P.M. from Georgia, one of our Associate Members who recently staged an O.T.A. seasonal rite there. Mike will tell us just how he went about it, and how it was received. We have another Associate Member in Texas, Frater Heracles, who has also staged a seasonal, and will call in with his comments. This warms the cockles of my heart!  We've been putting on these delightful pageants four times a year, on the solstices and equinoxes, since 1974, and we are so happy to see the tradition spreading out across the country. Mike and John have been able to do very effective rituals by following the scripts and details in our Seasonal Book, and using their own ingenuity in the staging. This is very important because we have gotten more elaborate at Montsalvat and Rivendell over the years, and we need fresh talent to do it their own way -- like Wagner in modern dress. Same words and music, but a fresh, new look. Mike has even translated our musical theme, scored in the book, on a synthesizer, which he will play for us. This will be a fun and inspiring evening.
