Many describe Prasanthi as the 'spiritual capital of the universe'. And for a good reason. Probably because everyone who comes here, no matter which region or religion they may belong to, they feel they have arrived 'home'. Therefore it is no wonder that thousands of Christians and people belonging to several faiths congregate in this Divine hamlet on Dec 25 every year to celebrate in great joy the birth of the Son of God. One of the highlights of the Christmas morning for decades has been the collective carol singing by all the students of Bhagawan's schools and colleges. This has always been a spectacular and soulful offering helping the faithful gathered from all over the world to connect to Swami and proffer their love and gratitude. How did the carol singing by students start? What was Bhagawan's direction and involvement in this programme over the years? And what is the spirit behind this singing which makes it so absolutely special? Dr Shailesh Srivastava who has been guiding the students since the inception of these offerings shares his reflections and insights in this Satsang.
Of all the concepts focused on throughout the discussions hosted on the Alpha Exchange, the notion of “carry” is one of my favorites. In its most basic definition, carry measures the income or cost to holding an asset in the steady state, when nothing changes. Underpinning the assessment of value in any option trade or strategy is a view on the favorability of carry at a given point in time. Can I own options for free or at least at meaningful discounts to their value? Mr. Market makes this very unlikely. Can I be especially well compensated for being short optionality? These are challenging questions, worthy of careful study. And in this context, it was a pleasure to welcome Shailesh Gupta, the Head of Structural Alpha at Simplify Asset Management to the podcast. Our conversation explores areas of carry in the market, why they exist, how they can be harvested and what can go wrong in the process. Shailesh shares his views on the pricing of interest rate volatility, where the vol risk premium has been especially high and how that fits into product design at his firm's ETF platform. We talk also about risk – including the crowding episode in VIX products in 2017 leading into the XIV event of 2018. I hope you enjoy this episode of the Alpha Exchange, my conversation with Shailesh Gupta.

Many speakers lean gradually into speaking. Still others stumble upon it unexpectedly. And still others find their passion and talent early on in life with the help of formative family members–like Shailesh Ghimire. Shailesh is our latest Student Highlight guest on The Speaker Lab podcast, and he shares his story on episode 459 with Maryalice Goldsmith, our director of student success. Today, Shailesh is a speaker, podcaster, and marketing expert with a background in physics. But years ago, he was a fourth grader preparing and delivering presentations for his dad, who loved and respected the fields of public speaking and debate. Thanks to those early years learning how to speak in front of an audience, Shailesh has never struggled with stage fright to this day. While Shailesh's dad helped set him on the road to public speaking, it took him some time to move beyond treating speaking like a hobby on top of his successful marketing business. But ultimately, as he attests, everybody has the same 24 hours in a day–and he refocused his time to prioritize building a speaking business. That's where The Speaker Lab comes in! Shailesh walks Maryalice through how our program offered him structure and consistency while leaving lots of room for independent initiative and creating your own systems. For example, unlike most speakers, Shailesh relies primarily on email for lead outreach rather than phone calls. This requires a unique set of systems for getting in touch with clients and following up, as you'll learn on the show. Shailesh is full of enthusiasm and humor on air as well as on the stage–listen till the end to hear why he's ready to write the “definitive book on women” after raising four daughters. He is currently working on expanding to new clientele and you'll get to hear all about the additional hurdles and challenges that come with the scaling stage of running a speaking business. You'll also learn all about: How being involved in theater helps prepare you for confidence as a speaker.Tips and tricks for balancing speaking and parenting. How to make traveling all the time more enjoyable. Why you shouldn't overcomplicate the prospecting process. Why imposter syndrome is actually a good thing. How to maintain energy from one speaking engagement to the next.…and so much more!Episode Resources:Read Shailesh's Success StoryConnect with ShaileshBook a Call with The Speaker LabSubscribe on Apple PodcastsGet Booked & Paid To SpeakGet a FREE Copy of The Successful SpeakerSpeaker Fee CalculatorEpisode Chapters: [00:01:51] Dad's influence at home to get public speaking practice.[00:04:02] Discovering speaking career leads to paid gigs.[00:09:40] Time is all about priorities and goals.[00:14:30] Be intentional, follow instructions, use email.[00:19:43] Surprise: Learning about presentation time requirements[00:22:12] Last-minute panic turns into successful presentation.[00:25:25] Big experience with dedicated, learning audience.

What's the impact? What's the revenue goals? What's the target market? How much time are we talking about? The ideas are plenty. There are a lot of great ideas. In November 2021 Indian announced its updated NDC - to achieve net zero carbon emission by 2070. And to meet 50% of its electricity requirements from renewable energy sources by 2030. This was a bold and significant moment not just for India, but for the fight against climate change. India is the third largest emitter of CO2 in the world, though CO2 emissions per person put it near the bottom of the world's emitters. The numbers are lower still if historical emissions (per person) are taken into consideration. Ditto for energy consumption - average households in India consume a tenth of what is consumed in the US (according to an IEA blog). The good news is that India has overachieved it's commitments made at COP21 Paris Summit by meeting 40% of its power capacity from non-fossil fuels. As the most populous country in the world, India has a long road to growth and energy demand as it speeds up its development agenda. India's climate adaptation and mitigation efforts if successful, will be transformational for the world. The country's private sector has a pivotal role to play towards Net Zero, by embedding sustainable strategies in their operations, identifying, deploying and adopting innovative technologies that accelerate the that journey.India Inc. is being nudged in the right direction by SEBI's mandatory ‘Business Responsibility & Sustainability Reporting'(BRSR) rules, that will see the top 1000 companies disclose their ESG journey publicly for the first time at the end of FY23. The BRSR is framed around three aspirations: Adapting to and mitigating climate change impact; inclusive growth and transitioning to a sustainable economy. My guest on The Elephant in the Room podcast this week is Net Zero evangelist Shailesh Haribhakti. We spoke about the drivers for ESG reporting in India, BRSR, India's energy sector, changes in how renewable assets are owned in India, 'just transition', EPA laws, Integrated reporting, challenges for the India Inc. and many other issues around climate change, net zero, and sustainability….Memorable passages from the podcast:

Shailesh loves sports and politics and enjoys writing, especially on the topics of entrepreneurship and trends in the Indian media sector. Some take aways : • Entrepreneurship is empowering yet comes with bundles of responsibility, there is no short cut • Building trust between employer and employees is the biggest asset for an organization • Being “process oriented” is not an anti-thesis to being “people oriented” • If you work with passion, growth and success is a byproduct • Being conscious of different generations we work with, helps to bring in a holistic way of work culture, rather than one size fits all • Whatever you want to do, give yourself few years of learning, rest of the career will benefit from this learning The podcast talks about fun, games, and Food, a perfect place for the younger ones to join the culture of Ormax! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/iiact/message

Welcome back to The Immeasurable Podcast. This episode comes from discussions Krishnamurti had with teachers at Brockwood Park School, which he founded in England in 1969. These dialogues were turned into a book called A Flame of Learning and are also referenced by Jaap and Shailesh in the previous episode, Exploring Education. Krishnamurti explores a teacher's relationship with both the school and with their colleagues and students. In this episode, Krishnamurti questions the nature of freedom and authority, the root of fear and violence, and the possibility of awakening intelligence and sensitivity to order. The teachers and Krishnamurti also go into the nature of inquiry itself and the necessity for clarity, observation, and communication. He challenges educators to look at the need for radical psychological change and to consider the possibility of such changes in all human beings. Krishnamurti said, "Seeing something very clearly and acting instantly is intelligence. Can we have that intelligence among ourselves first, and then convey it to the student?" You can find this quote in the book A Flame of Learning, where you can read these dialogues in print. Visit store.kfa.org to order it now. I hope you enjoy the episode. For more information about J. For centuries, women were queens of the home while men were the kings of work. Philosophers, religions, and everyone in between told us so. But the world is changing. Many more women are stepping outside of this age old wisdom. But as men, are we responding to this change? As more women work outside of home, are we contributing more inside of it? Data suggests that we are but incredibly slowly. Among rich and relatively equal countries, men have only increased their effort at home by 7 extra minutes in the last 15 years. And in India, women contribute 8 times more to work at home than men do. Indian men are some of least equal partners when it comes to 'splitting the list'. And then there is Shailesh Vaite, a 'work-from-home' dad who is proud to say that he has not missed a single important moment in his children's lives. Shailesh was around for their birth, their first steps, their first words and many more important moments. Shailesh's wife and him have agreed that he will 'split the list' and this has given his wife a full career at work, his kids two full-time parents, and Shailesh himself, some of his most meaningful and joyous moments. In this episode on "Masculinity & Parenting", we explore the journey of a father, husband, and man, who with his wife decided that traditional gender roles at home were not for him.
