As a creative, have you ever said to yourself “I’m lucky to be doing what I love so therefore I sacrifice the income?” That is something that my guest Polly Alexandre used to tell herself all the time, but it came to a point where she realized she had to clear her money blocks. In this episode, she tells us how we can do it while being gentle with ourselves and valuing ourselves as creatives, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The bottom line is: We’re all going to be ok. Find full shownotes and connect with Polly & Jen at www.shamelesslyfeminine.com/episode-77 Key Quotes from This Episode: “What makes one person abundant could be $50k a year and working 2 days per week, and what makes someone else abundant could be a minimum of a million and they don’t feel abundant if they’re only doing $700k. Define what is an abundant life to you, and then look at what amount of money that requires to create the environment you want to exist in.” “Money is just one part of abundance, but it does buy a huge amount of freedom and choices.” “We’re all on a spiritual journey right now. You have to dig deep right now because the whole world is saying ‘there’s not enough’ right now.” Connect with Jen and Shamelessly Feminine: Join the Reconstruction™ Facebook group Follow Jen and Shamelessly Feminine on Facebook Follow Jen and Shamelessly Feminine on Instagram Subscribe to the Jen Rozenbaum YouTube Channel This episode was originally published on shamelesslyfeminine.com/episode-77. Join me and my guest Lannie Reid for a fascinating conversation that will connect you to the “other side.” Lannie is an intuitive medium, teacher, and healer who is passionate about speaking with angels. In this conversation, she clears up what exactly a guardian angel is, how you can know that angels are present, and what you can do in the face of doubt. Key Quotes from This Episode: “My purpose on this planet is to teach others how they can ask angels for support in their lives so they know they’re not alone.” “Everybody does have their own angel. That is my belief. Everybody has angels all around them and everybody has their own specifically guardian angel.” “A guardian angel can be somebody that has passed over and then they come and [guard somebody] but to me, a guardian angel has been with you through all your past lives and they know you on a soul level and they’re here to guide you.” Connect with Jen and Shamelessly Feminine: Join the Reconstruction™ Facebook group Follow Jen and Shamelessly Feminine on Facebook Follow Jen and Shamelessly Feminine on Instagram Subscribe to the Jen Rozenbaum YouTube Channel This episode was originally published on shamelesslyfeminine.com/episode-75. In this conversation with Cherie Burton, we’re talking about a few different things, including emotional healing and mental health. Cherie, an emotional wellness expert, tells us how she has a pronounced family history of mental illness and how a string of suicides by loved ones drew her to studying psychology. In her studies, she wanted to crack the code of why people were not getting well, and we take a deep dive into that topic. She also answers the questions how important are periods of rest and rebuilding? How can we have important conversations and human connection even during a global pandemic? And how is the pandemic actually a gift to us? Key Quotes from This Episode: “We’re experts because we lived through something, not because we sat in a classroom traditional and studied it.” “Your mess is your message. Whatever the universe has served up to you in the forms of trauma or dysfunction or what have you, it morphs into, in some way, what you’re meant to share, teach, bless, lift, heal the planet.” “We are more productive when we go into cycles of rest and rebuilding.” Resources: Richard Rohr Connect with Jen and Shamelessly Feminine: Join the Reconstruction™ Facebook group Follow Jen and Shamelessly Feminine on Facebook Follow Jen and Shamelessly Feminine on Instagram Subscribe to the Jen Rozenbaum YouTube Channel This episode was originally published on shamelesslyfeminine.com/episode-75. Cassie Parks is a manifester extraordinaire. She created a program to attract money when she needed it, then did the program while she wrote it - and she tells us all about it in this episode. We get down to the real truth of where money blocks come from, and how it’s really pretty simple to attract the wealth you desire by setting intentions as goals. You’ll also find out about a boudoir shoot using $10,000 worth of real bills and how Jimmy Choos factor into Cassie’s journey to wealth! Key Quotes from This Episode: "You have to be the person who has that experience if you’re going to get that experience." "You have to do the work to feel and open and own your own value, but you can have a conversation with your partner. It doesn’t make it just about you and feeling guilt and shame, it starts to open up that conversation." "Money can find you. It doesn’t have to come through the traditional ways that we think." Dr. Orlena Kerek joins me on my newest podcast episode to tell me and the listeners all about rebooting your health and wellness. We focus on the 4 pillars of wellness that she has identified - nutrition, exercise, sleep, and emotional wellness, and how you can make adjustments in these areas in our lives and even get our kids on board. She also breaks down an experience of mine to explain how our emotional wellness can spiral downwards but also how we can consciously create a spiral upwards into positivity again. Key Quotes from This Episode: “From the age of 40 onwards, we lose muscle mass. Osteoporosis starts now and we need to start doing exercise so we’re fit and have muscle tone and bone strength so we don’t put ourselves in danger in the future.” “When you talk about negativity, it makes sense that our brains are geared to protect us. It’s about danger. Our brains are basically this mechanism of survival. But the good news is that once you’re aware of it, there are loads of things you can do by just being aware of it and create positive thoughts and generate positive emotion.” “Ask yourself if something is the truth. We love to fantasize, we love to create all of these different what ifs and these negative thoughts and negative fantasies and we believe it. Check in with yourself. Ask yourself, ‘Is this the truth right now? Right now, what is the actual truth of what you’re going through?’” Connect with Jen and Shamelessly Feminine: Join the Reconstruction™ Facebook group Follow Jen and Shamelessly Feminine on Facebook Follow Jen and Shamelessly Feminine on Instagram Subscribe to the Jen Rozenbaum YouTube Channel This episode was originally published on shamelesslyfeminine.com/episode-73. Being a victim of narcissistic abuse is relatively unknown in the medical community, but my guest Suzanna Quintana wants to set the record straight. A survivor of 2 abusive relationships, she knows all about what narcissism is, what it isn’t, and how to recognize it. When you’re done with this episode, you will know whether or not you are dealing with a narcissist in your life. Key Quotes From This Episode: “I didn’t know I was a victim of abuse until the tail end, when I found a psychologist who told me I was.” “You don’t even realize what’s happening to you as it’s happening. It’s the frog in a pot of cool water. The frog is totally happy because the frog likes cool water, but you turn the heat to boil, it takes some time, and by the time the frog realizes what’s happening, it’s too late. That’s exactly what narcissistic abuse is.” “Narcissists know exactly what they’re doing. That’s not a way that we’re designed to exist, so when we are feeling that way, our survival mechanism is to try to bring that down to a more balanced level, and food in this case is seeing a purpose, bu tit also has a side effect, which is more calories than people are used to taking in.” “This may be a very temporary period and not necessarily disordered or an eating disorder because it’s very specific to the current environment. It’s so out of the norm of anything we’ve experienced.” “What was our set weight when we were 20 or 25 is a little bit different to when we’re 40 or 50 or 60 because of a multitude of factors.” “Weight is a range and we may not want to embrace that but there has to be some kind of acceptance around it and moving beyond just body image and weight on a scale even though society tells us it’s so damn important, especially for women.” Connect with Jen and Shamelessly Feminine: Join the Reconstruction™ Facebook group Follow Jen and Shamelessly Feminine on Facebook Follow Jen and Shamelessly Feminine on Instagram Subscribe to the Jen Rozenbaum YouTube Channel This episode was originally published on shamelesslyfeminine.com/episode-71. Julie Peters’ experience of sexual assault and the healing that came afterwards is powerful and a story that has to be told. This episode is full of “a-ha” moments and deep wisdom. Julie talks about her book “Want: 8 Steps to Recovering Desire, Passion, and Pleasure After Sexual Assault” and how it breaks down the healing process in an easy to digest, gentle format. She and Jen also unpack the complexities of socialization and how it shapes rape culture, and Julie gives some surprising insight into how food can help with healing. Find Julie at her website. Key Quotes from the Episode: “One of the things that I really discovered in the process of recovery for me and my experience was that it’s really not about going back to anything, it’s really much more about uncovering a new sense of self and a new perception on what the world is and really taking the lessons from whatever it is you went through and letting those be your gems and riches.” “I did a lot of research around trauma and female sexual desire and all kinds of research, but really the work of the book was delving into myself and my journey and what I’d been through and really digging up some things and processing them and working them through.” “We live in a society that has some gender binary and there’s a lot of misogyny in our culture. Even if you haven’t been sexually assaulted, something like 80+% of people who identify as women has been catcalled on the street, sexually harassed at work, felt disempowered by some way in another by the medical system, not listened to. We have a lot of these experiences where we’re told one rand over again ‘you have less value, you don’t have power.’” Connect with Jen and Shamelessly Feminine: Join the Reconstruction™ Facebook group Follow Jen and Shamelessly Feminine on Facebook Follow Jen and Shamelessly Feminine on Instagram Subscribe to the Jen Rozenbaum YouTube Channel This episode was originally published on shamelesslyfeminine.com/episode-66. This time on Shamelessly Feminine, Jen is talking to Dr. Mary Claire Haver, an OB-GYN in Texas. As her patient population aged, she was overwhelmed with the number of complaints and concerns her patients had with weight gain while going through menopause. For years, she told her patients to eat less and exercise more. It wasn’t until she, too, experienced the changes of menopause that she realized this advice doesn’t work. In this episode, she’s telling us all about how her studies of aging and nutrition caused her to develop the Galveston Diet, the first and only nutrition program in the world created by a female OB-GYN - this is no junk science. The Galveston Diet is dedicated to helping women reach their health and wellness goals through an anti-inflammatory approach to nutrition, and once you hear this interview, you will definitely want to check out the program! Find more information at GalvestonDiet.com Don't forget to check out our new sponsor, Elemis! Key Quotes from the Episode: "It's simple nutritional changes, loading up on on behavior and practices that decrease inflammation and doing away with those that add inflammation." "So I practiced on myself and literally that 20 pounds [that I gained] melted off. Not only that, I was sleeping better. My brain fog was better. I was working out better. My joints felt better. I mean, all of the non-scaled benefits were so much better." "My residency was jam packed and prevention just falls at the wayside. It's like, ‘That's common knowledge. People should just understand that inherently,’ and they actually don’t. So many things in the industry are working against us for that." How can we better connect to our feminine within? That’s the question Rachael Jayne Groover, my guest on this week’s podcast episode, is answering on the regular. She has trained over 12,000 women with her Art of Feminine Presence® training, which wraps up the physical, energetic, and feminine all in one. We talk about getting clear on the yin and yang aspects of life as opposed to the feminine vs. masculine, how to keep the embodiment of the feminine in everything we do, and how meditation can not only bring us into the present more, but also bring us back to the feminine within so that we can truly be seen. Check out Rachael Jayne's website at https://rachaeljayne.com/ Key Quotes from the Episode: “If we still the mind, we then automatically connect to our life force.” “Everybody on the planet has a different version of what feminine means and what masculine means. In the Art of Feminine Presence®, we pull apart feminine and masculine to yin and yang as separate things, so we can really get clear on what the yin and yang aspects of life are. Most people would think of masculine as yang and feminine as yin, but let’s take feminine and masculine out of it.” “A lot of women want to be seen, but then they don’t want to be seen, because there’s that fear of that.” Connect with Jen and Shamelessly Feminine: Join the Reconstruction™ Facebook group Follow Jen and Shamelessly Feminine on Facebook Follow Jen and Shamelessly Feminine on Instagram Subscribe to the Jen Rozenbaum YouTube Channel This episode was originally published on shamelesslyfeminine.com/episode-63. You get so used to what you know is not good for you, but it’s just what you know. When I made a decision to leave [abuse], I made a decision to change my life.” “When you’re working on a muscle you work on it from a bunch of different angles, but when it comes to healing, we don’t work on just the emotional part; the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual need to be worked on.” Connect with Jen and Shamelessly Feminine: Join our Shamelessly Feminine Facebook Group Follow Jen and Shamelessly Feminine on Facebook Follow Jen and Shamelessly Feminine on Instagram This episode was originally published on shamelesslyfeminine.com/episode-58. What does it look like for you to be fit in your life right now? What does your body need today? And how can a working woman keep up with her health while she travels? Personal trainer and podcaster Jen Whitmore and I talk about practical ways to stay fit in your real life, why it’s important, and what you can do to take care of yourself while you’re on the road. If you’ve ever wondered how to protect your health as you travel and what being fit is all about, listen in. Fit Bodies Come in All Shapes + Sizes If you want to stay motivated and inspired when you’re online, follow someone on social media who looks like you, e.g. she is the same height and body type as you are. It’s important to identify with someone who is the same size and shape as you. Your body changes as you age so it’s important to ask, “What’s good for my body? What does being healthy in my body look like?” There’s always outside input wherever you go, but remember that health is crucial to living life. Listen to What Your Body Needs It’s important to know what your body can physically handle. Losing weight takes time. You need to build up to things. You can’t go from zero minutes of working out to 60 minutes of working out in one session. Remember that the female body goes through so much: childbirth, miscarriage, menopause, monthly periods. Women tend to keep their emotions in their bodies. How to Be Healthy When You Travel Jen’s “Road Warriors Wellness Concierge” service helps busy business travelers. For many business travelers, they have a vacation mindset even when they’re not on vacation. We eat bad things because we want to experience new things. However, we can’t afford a vacation mindset when consistently traveling. Traveling also means that you’re busy, you don’t know where to go for healthy options, and you’re entertaining clients. These factors make it easy to throw in the towel on health when you travel. Not only do you need to eat well, but you need to exercise. Jen’s program helps give control back to travelers. Practical Advice to Stay Healthy Make sure you don’t have a vacation mindset when you’re traveling for business. Be mindful. Exercise when you travel. Is it easier for you to forgive yourself or forgive others? What makes that so? How can you live life intentionally so you don’t waste a second? Lauren and I dive into forgiveness and dating in this episode, which are very interconnected actually. After Lauren comes back from the retreat she shared about in Episode 48, we dissect what forgiveness looks like, if it’s easier to date when you’re in your 20s or when you’re older, and so much more. Here’s what Lauren learned at the Matthew Hussey Retreat and there are some gems in here friends! The Two Types of Forgiveness The forgiveness of others The forgiveness of self Lauren shares an example that Matthew Hussey used at the retreat that really helped her understand how to forgive yourself: Imagine a relay race. Now imagine that the first runner trips. The fourth runner in that race isn’t wasting any time getting mad at the first runner because she is simply running as fast as she can to make up the time. Matthew said that your life is a relay race and that every day you’re a new runner. There is no point in berating yourself when you’ve got a race to run. Dating + Living with Intention Lauren shares that she will date again because she’s not who she once was. She loved this insight from Matthew: Living with intention may not spark much change in your routines or life. Instead, living with intention may simply look like being aware of what your heart is saying. Dating When You’re Younger (20s) vs. Dating When You’re Older (30s, 40s) Dating is different as you age. Your standards change. The pool from which you can date has changed. You have different life experiences. Remember that you have choices in who you date and whether you date, but even those choices can be overwhelming. As you age, you realize that you’ve made mistakes and that you can be harder on yourself than on others. It all started with a Facebook post by my friend (and today’s co-host) Jana Vallone when she shared a link to a Sports Illustrated story about hip cleavage being a new trend. You guys know that I’m all about accepting all body types, but when did women’s body types get “trendy”? And is that even ok? My fellow boudoir photographer and today’s podcast co-host Jana Vallone and I share our thoughts about body trends, body image, and the media in this episode. If you’re ready for an unfiltered conversation about who and why women’s bodies are deemed trendy, listen in. What’s Going on With Body “Trends” Jana and I agree that we are thankful that all body types are now being featured in the media, but my concern is that our bodies can even be trendy at all. We know that you can’t change the shape of your body although you can gain/lose weight or have surgery. But we have fallen victim to the idea that our bodies can become trendy. Body Terms You and I hear the terms “plus size,” “curvy,” and “fat” every day. In the 1980s and 1990s, Kate Moss and the waif-ish look was in. Now, J. Lo, Nicki Minaj, and Kim Kardashian are trendy. Their bodies have been under the knife so how can we keep up with that? How you feel about your body impacts every interaction and relationship you have. Dad Bod versus Mom Bod In our society, Dad Bod, a.k.a. letting yourself go, is considered cool while Mom Bod needs to be “fixed.” Men find women rising up as intimidating. Men are scared of women’s bodies so they make women’s bodies trendy. Labeling our bodies and what’s “trendy” is a form of control. Conclusion: Let’s ask the question, “Is it ok that you’re being labeled as trendy?” Question what you see and what the media feeds you. What’s hidden underneath? What are the motives behind the message? Key Quotes from the Episode: “Women’s attractiveness has a shelf life.” - Jen Rozenbaum “I can’t understand how we’ve made body image … trendy.” - Jen Rozenbaum “How about the trend should be, ‘No two bodies are the same so whatever you have, love that’?” - Jen Rozenbaum “Let’s make sure that we’re all inclusive.” - Jana Vallone “Body image and body acceptance affect every, single woman.” - Jen Rozenbaum “We have to be smarter than the trends.” - Jana Vallone “Fight where you can and question, question, question.” - Jana Vallone Connect with Jana Vallone: Instagram Website Connect with Jen and Shamelessly Feminine: Join our Shamelessly Feminine Facebook Group Follow Shamelessly Feminine on Facebook Follow Shamelessly Feminine on Instagram This episode was originally published on shamelesslyfeminine.com/episode46.
Do you find that you like everything to be perfect? That you can’t stand it when you let someone down? Do you have a low tolerance for mistakes? And does forgiving yourself seem impossible? Lauren and I dissect our lives as we talk about what perfectionism is, why we can’t stand making mistakes, and how to forgive ourselves. You’ll also hear about the mistake Lauren made for a charity event, the time I hit a 95-year old man with my car, and an email from a fan declaring his love for me. You won’t want to miss this episode. Letting Go of Perfectionism Recently, Lauren left off her partner’s logo on a graphic promoting a charity event. She felt horrible. Here’s one question to ask yourself when you’re struggling with being perfect: What is the truth in this situation? Making Mistakes Lauren believes that she’s not so much a perfectionist, but someone who doesn’t want to let anyone down. When she does make a mistake, she resolves to be better only to let someone down again. Here are several questions to ask yourself when you’re struggling with being perfect: Where does that thought come from? Do I hold people to the same standards that I hold myself to? What stories am I telling myself? Forgiving Yourself Others may forgive you far more easily than you forgive yourself. Here’s one question to ask yourself when things don’t go as you planned: Can I forgive myself when I make a mistake? Your Next Steps Remember that perfectionism can show up in body image and unrealistic expectations. Read this Psychology Today article, Mothers are Drowning in Stress, to get an idea. Here are two more questions to ask when you’re struggling with perfectionism, making mistakes, and forgiving yourself: Who do I have to be perfect for, i.e. who demands perfection from me? What is real? If you struggle with perfectionism and a low tolerance for mistakes, will you get back with us? Let us know if you struggle in these areas too! Stress is a part of life, especially for women who are passionate about what they’re doing. So how does it affect us and what are five practical ways you can de-stress today? My co-host Lauren Trantham and I share three ways stress impacts life, what’s stressing us out right now, and five practices to help battle stress. You know you’re stressed right now so join us in this friendly conversation about stress and how we all struggle with it. The Impact of Stress As women, we care for everyone and everything around us. We take on a lot and that responsibility has an impact. Stress Impacts You Emotionally It’s easy to pull back from our friends when you need people the most. You may not share what’s going on in your life so you feel isolated or you may not be as available for your friends as you’d like to be. There’s also the element of guilt that you’re not a good friend or daughter when you’re in stress. Stress Impacts Your Mindset Stress also makes every problem seem bigger. Keeping perspective is hard because everything seems like a big deal and small things can set you off. Stress Impacts Your Body Sometimes in times of stress, your brain seems to shut down and you can’t think clearly. Your body tells you that you can’t push it to do any more than it’s already doing. High-emotion times can lead to sickness. What’s Stressing You Out You’re a woman who knows what she wants and is multi-passionate. One area that may cause you stress is work, but how do you not do what you’re passionate about? How do you do what you love without getting overly stressed? How do you not over-do it, get work done, and take care of yourself? Five Practical Strategies to Help Manage Stress Ask yourself, “Who am I? What do I want?” In stress, you may feel disconnected from your “why.” Find gratitude in the mundane. We lose sight of all we have to be thankful for in times of stress. Develop a game plan. Go through the options at your disposal with friends, family, or co-workers. Rest in awe. Do something that amazes you and is restful. Rest and relax in what lights you up. Remember you always have 10 minutes. Take a deep breath. Step outside. Read a book. Meditate. Conclusion: Lauren and I don’t have the answers to stress, but we are right there with you. You’ve got the tools that can help you manage the stress. It’s just a matter of using them. What does confidence have to do with reaching your potential? What’s one secret you need to know to live more confidently today? And how does your wardrobe impact how others respond to you? Devoreaux Walton, an author and confidence coach, joins me as we talk about confidence, self-talk, and your wardrobe. While we don’t see eye-to-eye on everything we talk, we still collaborate and connect, and respect the heck out of each other! If your confidence needs a boost and you don’t know where to start, listen to Devoreaux’s wisdom. Devoreaux’s Journey from Feeling Stuck to Living with Confidence In 2014, Devoreaux was frustrated. She felt stuck working at a job she didn’t enjoy. She wanted to be confident and charismatic, but she wasn’t. Then she discovered counseling and therapy then she hired a life coach and audited her closet. Through her experience, she discovered “insider secrets” to become confident in who you are. One insider secret is to be aware of your mindset and to understand the power of self-talk. We all have lots of thoughts throughout the day with the majority being negative. Being self-aware of the thoughts you’re thinking can shift the focus of the negative and toward the positive. But how do you stop the negative self-talk? Focus on gratitude. Ask yourself, “What’s the best-case scenario?” Focus on the good that can happen. What happens when the best-case scenario doesn’t happen? Remember to control what you can control, which is what you do, say, and think. When the outcome doesn’t go your way, think through what went well and what could be improved for next time. Honor yourself for what you did well and then evaluate what could go better the next time. How does your wardrobe impact your confidence? There’s a massive impact between clothing and confidence. How you dress impacts how others view you and how you view yourself. The response you get from people when you wear yoga pants will be a different response than when you wear a suit. After a difficult emotional time, dressing in a way that makes you feel confident and taking good care of yourself will help you feel more empowered. Spending time the night before can make a world of difference in having a successful tomorrow. What if you’re multi-faceted and you’re unsure what image you want to show the world? There are times and places for everything. In general, it’s possible to have a consistent theme with your colors, fabrics and textures no matter what roles you play. So what is Devoreaux’s Style? Her style has evolved because style is all about continuous improvement. We’re all changing and growing. It’s about a journey and enjoying the present moment. Three to four years ago, Devoreaux’s style was more Americana, e.g. J. Crew and Ralph Lauren. Now, she prefers timeless elegance like Talbots, St. John, and Chanel. Her wardrobe has really shrunk. She encourages us to get rid of things that don’t fit, that we haven’t worn in a while, and aren’t respectful to our bodies. Audit your closet and maximize the essentials in your wardrobe. Devoreaux believes that women should always cover their derrieres, bosoms, and mid-sections. I don’t agree with this. But that’s okay! Connect with Devoreaux Walton: Website YouTube Facebook Devoreaux Walton is an author and confidence coach who serves as the CEO and Founder at The Modern Lady, a lifestyle company that educates and empowers women to live their best lives. How can you discover your femininity? Is it possible to embrace your aging self? And why are sexuality and femininity so closely tied together? I chat with MILF podcast host and author Jennifer Tracy dive deep as we talk about femininity, sensuality, and sexuality as women in our 40s. Jennifer shares her personal story about how she discovered her femininity and what pole dancing as to do with all of it! How Pole Dancing Changed Jennifer’s Life Initially, Jennifer took a pole dancing class as a fundraiser hosted by a friend. She’d done burlesque and belly dancing before so she was comfortable in her skin and didn’t think the class would be that big of a deal. However, she walked into a dark room with no mirrors and she felt very awkward in her body during the class. But it was through this class that she started to wake up to her own sexuality and sensuality. Pole dancing is not about form or choreography, but all about organic movement and feeling alive. Before she started pole dancing, she felt frumpy and wore baggy clothes. Now she’s told she’s sexy just by how she carries herself. Jennifer’s Journey in Discovering her Femininity Jennifer’s femininity-journey changed everything in her life in three major ways: As she rediscovered her femininity, she realized that her marriage wasn’t working. She and her husband went to counseling, but eventually got a divorce. Jennifer changed the kind of woman she was around. She was now drawn to people who were confident, empowered, and didn’t want her to dim her light. Her creative juices were flowing so she wrote a novel. Aging + Sexuality As a 40-year-old woman, I often don’t see myself in ads. I feel forgotten and overlooked. Jennifer also said that she tries not to judge her wrinkles and skin tone. When my doctor suggested that my ovaries be removed, I cried. Here’s what Jennifer said: “There is a grieving that goes along with all of these stages that is natural and needs to be honored.” Our culture doesn’t give us space to grieve. Jennifer also realized that as she gets older, she needs more rest. She reminds us that our bodies will tell us what we need. Why Do Sensuality and Femininity Live so Closely Together? Jennifer says that in ancient Egypt and Greece, sensuality came with empowerment. Beautiful women were adorned in beautiful clothes. Through the ages, there’s a great deal of power in beauty and sensuality. Beauty, love, sex, and lust are very powerful. Valerie is a Mom, Certified Life Coach, and founder of The Unlimited Mom. Her work focuses on helping women break self-defeating patterns and take confident action toward their goals. She is passionate about creativity, coffee, and connecting moms to their unique and unlimited self. She believes that moms deserve to live a vibrant life and that by doing so, they will empower their children to do the same. WHERE TO FIND Valerie ONLINE: Facebook Twitter Instagram LinkedIn EPISODE SUMMARY: Valerie shares her passion for helping women get rid of the mindset that is stopping them from living their most amazing life! As moms and women, we can put a lot of expectations on ourselves. Valerie and I chat about the mental load women carry and the guilt we may experience. Valerie helps entrepreneurial moms break through their self-defeating patterns and gives tips on how to deal with the negative thoughts that may come up. One tip is to have a conversation with your people, especially your spouse, around supporting each other. How can you set healthy boundaries for yourself? Valerie says that it starts with knowing who you are! If you don’t know who you are and what you want, it’s impossible to set healthy boundaries. When you have that disconnect of not knowing who you are, people can’t treat you the way that you feel you should be treated. This can cause us to go into survival mode and feel like we are just getting by. Are you watching how you react to certain situations? Just like many of us, I am guilty of sometimes reacting in a way that doesn’t align with who I am, and I can spend days beating myself up for my reaction. Valerie and I talk more about how to approach this by simply starting a conversation with yourself. Did you react a certain way because you’re actually fearing something? We hear a lot of talk on meditation, yoga, self-care, and waking up early, etc. You don’t have to do all of it to feel that you’re taking care of yourself. You don’t have to wake up early if you’re not a morning person. Do self-care in a way that works best for you! “You have to know what you want, who you want to be and believe that you can be that person! Believe that you can enjoy your life!” - Valerie Friedlander Let’s Connect! See all that Jennifer has to offer at Shamelessly Feminine! Renee and I chat about sales and how can someone present themselves when you’re not selling something tangible. “The great salespeople will ask great questions which allows the potential buyer to share what’s important to them.” - Renee Hribar Renee talks about the trifecta with getting sales without spending money on Facebook ads. She says that it’s email, social media, and the phone call. Spend time where your people are at. Create an email list, connect with them on social, and make that phone call. Sometimes the phone call can feel overwhelming but that human connection of hearing each other’s voice is incredibly powerful. Send people handwritten mail! Renee and I continued our conversation on human connection which is something that can be lost in the internet space. A simple gesture like writing a handwritten thank you note to your potential clients not only makes you stand out but can build on that know, like, and trust factor. You’ve had the potential client call and need to follow up on that sale? How do you that without feeling salesy? Renee says that the key is to expect to follow up with that person before you meet with them for the first time. Cory Muscara is an international teacher and speaker on the topic of mindfulness meditation. He regularly appears on the Dr. Oz show, where Oz has introduced him as “one of the nation’s leading experts on mindfulness meditation”. In addition to speaking to executives at Fortune 500 companies and at various events across the world, he has taught mindfulness-based leadership at Columbia University, and currently teaches positive psychology at the University of Pennsylvania where he completed his masters degree under Dr. Martin Seligman. In 2012, Cory spent six months in silence living as a monk in Asia, practicing meditation 14+ hours each day. He has presented mindfulness workshops and retreats for organizations such as Bank of America, Prudential, Johnson & Johnson, Travelers & Colgate, as well as universities such as NYU Stern, Wharton, and Tuck Business School. His meditations have been heard more than 4 million times in over 40 countries. WHERE TO FIND Cory ONLINE: Facebook Instagram Twitter Website Finding Your Home Online Course 31 Days of Mindfulness EPISODE SUMMARY: What drew me to Cory was his positive energy, which is why I wanted him on the show. He talks on how he became practicing mindfulness even in a world of chaos. Everyone can practice mindfulness and it can be different for everyone. You can do meditation, yoga, tai chi, and more, but where does someone even begin? As an expert in mindful meditation, Cory says it starts with some form of self-awareness. Ask yourself how you are doing emotionally, physically, spiritually, etc. For some, others can feel content with where they are, or it could be a huge wake up call to start making changes. Practicing mindfulness gives you the tools to use when you find yourself struggling with something. One of my wake up calls was when I realized that I wasn’t yelling at my kids because they were driving me crazy, it was because I wasn’t fully taking care of myself! Having that self-awareness has made a big difference in my own motherhood journey. Do you struggle with awareness and being present? Not only do I run multiple businesses, I’m also a mother and wife. It’s like living a rat race sometimes and at the end of the day, I forget about taking care of my needs because I’m just exhausted taking care of everyone else. But, no matter what, the universe is always telling us to slow down. Cory teaches us how to take the time to start listening to our body and taking care of ourselves. When you prioritize self care, it impacts everything else that’s important to us. “I think life is just a series of setting expectations for ourselves, failing in one way or another to meet those expectations, and having hope for what the next moment could look like.” - Cory Muscara Although some of us struggle with meditating for 1-5 minutes, Cory shares his experience meditating for 14 hours with monks in Asia for 6 months. Where To Find Debi Online: Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Are You Struggling with Post Betrayal Syndrome™? Website EPISODE SUMMARY: Debi and I begin our chat talking about how women deal with betrayal. She talks about the different stages it takes to transform and heal from betrayal. “You can stay stuck for years, decades, a lifetime but if you’re going to go through that transformation, you’re going to go through these five very predictable stages.” - Dr. Debi Silber There are four parts of us that need attending to: the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Debi says what she has seen women focus on most is the physical and mental parts but forget to take care of the emotional and spiritual. “If there are four legs of a table and we are only strengthening two, it’s really easy to topple over.” - Dr. Debi Silber Our darkest times can be our greatest gifts. Our mind can talk us out of anything but what if you just trusted what was currently happening and went with it? Debi shares a time when she hit rock bottom and her logical part was telling her what she “should” be doing while her spiritual part was telling her, “What if this was something you need?” So, what if your rock bottom will lead you to something greater? Write a coherent narrative for yourself. Debi invites everyone to do this and it can be very healing! It allows you to take your story and make meaning of it so it becomes a pivotal chapter of your story. “I can stay stuck forever but I can rebuild!” - Dr. Debi Silber We also talk about forgiveness. When it comes to forgiveness, think about the if/then rule. If you feel safe and valued and you forgive, you feel better. If you do not feel safe and valued and forgive, you feel worse. So how do you feel when you’re forgiving somebody? “Forgiveness is a gift you truly give yourself but it’s just a word until you do it!” - Dr. Debi Silber Let’s Connect! MEET THE GUEST: Since childhood, I’ve known that I’m connected to something greater than me. At an early age I realized that I inherited my psychic grandmother’s gift of prophetic dreams – visions that were always vivid, full of sensory detail and eventually real. Since then, I’ve spent over 20 years attuning my mind and body to truly listen to that internal voice that can predict or advise and is inspired by a greater power. Now I help others to strengthen their inner voice by improving mental and physical health to synchronize the mind - body connection. As an intuitive energy healer and medium, I host The Intuitive Woman Podcast, a weekly podcast that explores intuition. I’m a yoga instructor and Reiki Master Teacher at The Center of Wellness and Integrative Medicine/Northwell Health. I work with women to develop their intuition, connect with their inner guidance and create a passionate, spiritual life. WHERE TO FIND Tina Conroy ONLINE: Facebook Instagram Twitter Website The Intuitive Woman Podcast EPISODE SUMMARY: Tina and I discuss what Reiki is and what it can do for you. Tina shares her input on how best to become more connected with the issues in our tissues. She says that for us to be more aware, we should do those things that we don’t want to do and be more reflective. For example, having a spiritual routine every day. “Energy will never lie.” - Tina Conroy “Reflect on how you feel!” - Tina Conroy We tend to do yoga or reiki when things are great in our lives but Tina and I talk about the importance of doing these routines when things are tough. If you're that kickass women who need a kick in the ass, you’re in the right place! I share my story as to how Shamelessly Feminine was created. My story first started 10 years ago when I started my boudoir photography business. At that time, I was struggling with infertility. This was a dark time in my life and that was when I started to teach myself photography to really distract myself. A few months after getting into photography, a friend of mine invited me to assist in a boudoir shoot. I loved it so much that I started a business in boudoir photography. I noticed something in the women I photographed, we all have insecurities and it’s what we do with them. It was so inspiring to see these women come out of their insecurities that it helped heal me and we helped heal me. That is how the podcast came about. I wanted to help women celebrate her unique femininity shamelessly. I hope this show inspire and lift you up! Let’s Connect! See all that Jennifer has to offer at Shamelessly Feminine! Thank you for tuning in for another episode of The Intuitive Woman Podcast and the series, Trouble To Triumph. I had the pleasure of speaking with Jen Rozenbaum today. I met Jen casually through yoga and attending classes at The Center for Wellness and Integrative Wellness in Roslyn, NY. This past year I was captivated by her story. She was very public about her breast cancer diagnosis, as well as her daily vlogs, her feelings of diagnosis, surgery, reconstruction, side affects, emotions and more. I would watch her, in the good the bad and the ugly moments as she shared her story with the world. As Jen would say sometimes, the "ugly cry". In this conversation, Jen doesn't hold back, and gets pretty vulnerable. She's truly an inspiration to every woman, with or without cancer. Jen also went very public on: www.thewell.northwell.edu There you can find a few stories of Jen's journey. Jen has a podcast in the works: The Shamelessly Feminine Podcast and all her info is below. Jen Rozenbaum embraces her femininity while allowing women to embrace their own. By daring her clients to shed their clothes, they begin to shed their inhibitions. In the last nine years, Jen has found a burgeoning audience in the intimate photography market and is now sharing her shamelessly feminine movement with women worldwide. She proves that you can own your world if you live fearlessly, think audaciously and act spontaneously. www.jenrozenbaum.com https://www.facebook.com/groups/ShamelesslyFeminine/
