In this episode, I welcome back Albert Chow, co-founder & CEO of Silk & Snow, to explore the company's dramatic evolution from a digital-native sleep brand to a powerhouse in physical retail. The conversation dives into Silk & Snow's ambitious expansion plans, with 14 new stores set to open across Canada by the end of the year.Albert shares the brand's journey from its 2017 launch as an online mattress-in-a-box retailer to its current position as a multi-category sleep essentials and furniture brand. The company's emphasis on high-quality, locally sourced materials and transparent manufacturing has resonated with customers, helping it differentiate from competitors. A key milestone in its growth was its partnership with Sleep Country in 2023, facilitating its entry into brick-and-mortar retail, starting with a test location in Ottawa. With the success of that initial store, Silk & Snow expanded to Edmonton and Laval and is now gearing up for a nationwide rollout. The discussion highlights the strategic thinking behind the company's retail expansion. Rather than relying solely on traditional metrics like sales per square foot, Albert sees the physical locations as key brand touchpoints that enhance customer trust and engagement. The company's stores serve as sales hubs and brand marketing tools, reinforcing Silk & Snow's premium positioning in the sleep and home goods market.Albert also delves into the challenges and opportunities presented by today's complex supply chain landscape. With increasing consumer demand for Canadian-made products and ongoing trade uncertainties, Silk & Snow has benefited from its early investment in local sourcing. While many brands are now reacting to shifting trade policies, Silk & Snow's commitment to Canadian manufacturing and partnerships with European suppliers, such as those in Portugal, have provided a competitive advantage.Albert shares his vision for Silk & Snow's future, including a potential push into the U.S. market. Drawing inspiration from Canadian retail success stories like Aritzia and Lululemon, he sees an opportunity for Silk & Snow to become a leading North American brand. With a methodical approach to expansion and a strong focus on customer experience, Silk & Snow is positioning itself for long-term success.Whether you're a retail industry professional or fascinated by the evolving world of e-commerce and brick-and-mortar integration, this episode offers valuable insights into what it takes to scale a modern brand in today's competitive retail environment. https://www.silkandsnow.com/en-ca/https://www.instagram.com/silkandsnow/https://www.linkedin.com/company/silk-snow/ Michael LeBlanc is the president and founder of M.E. This interview explores the journey of Albert Chow, co-founder of Silk & Snow, a Canadian sleep & lifestyle company that started as a mattress-in-a-box business. Chow discusses how his immigrant parents and blue-collar background influenced his business approach, particularly his focus on supply chain transparency and quality manufacturing. Through organic growth and without outside funding, the company evolved from a Kickstarter campaign in 2017 to a successful acquisition by Sleep Country in 2023, maintaining its commitment to sustainable, high-quality products throughout its growth. In this episode we discuss: -Why Albert emphasizes the importance of staying true to your values, even when faced with trends or easier paths -Why he advocates for strategic risk-taking, noting how he first "de-risked" his life (established career, marriage, home) before starting his business -Why operating with a healthy amount of fear can be a powerful motivator -Being passionate about what you do is essential since your career occupies 60-70% of your life

Aaron discusses how Hush innovated in response to market challenges, developing the world's first cooling weighted blanket when faced with 70,000 competitors. Instead of racing to the bottom on price, they elevated their product to $349, achieving $50 million in annual sales with double-digit margins. The exit to a publicly traded sleep company came through intentional positioning and relationship building, though Aaron describes the year-long process at age 25 as incredibly lonely. This experience inspired him to create The Founders Club, a community supporting entrepreneurs through resources and connections he wished he had during his exit. His key advice to his past self: stay delusional and trust that it will work out. Today's episode as you can tell by the title, six healthy girl habits. I did a post on this on the Morning Rae podcast Instagram a few weeks ago, or maybe two weeks ago... I've been doing a lot of these fun little savable, infographic-type things over there. We're going to do six healthy girl habits that you can implement into your life. They are super easy, they're not complicated. I am sure most of you already do them, maybe not super consistently, or maybe you are a healthy girl boss and you already do these things. I am here just to remind you about them. This episode is brought to you by Stanley Brand. Use code ALLANA20 for 20% off here. This episode is sponsored by Sleep Country. Today's episode is going to be everything about adulting. I feel like I can talk about it, I am 23 and have lived on my own for about a year and a half now, almost two years. I feel like I have gotten a good handle on it and it's still fresh so I understand the thought process and the thoughts that might be going through your head if you're wanting to move out or are going through that process... or maybe you are a recent post-grad or are nearing it. For Bell Let's Talk day on Virgin Mornings w/ B Mack & Karly We spoke to Ginny Becker from the Child Advocacy Centre in Kelowna about the process of how a child comes to them, and what is involved. We also talked about what the previous funds donated by Bell Let's Talk have gone towards, in previous years. This audio clip got posted to OMNY and sent to our social media, as well as playing it on air 3 times over the course of our Morning Show. We spoke on the importance of sleep and taking care of yourself, which helps your mental health and well-being, tying it in to the SLEEP COUNTRY giveaway we're doing all day today. We discussed and posted the local contact info for all the different resources available for all ages, genders, sexual orientations and races, on our local website, and posted it online to our social medias. We talked a bit about personal struggles and how in many industries, people have to just put on a smile and fake it, and how that can become part of a downward spiral. We talked about how heavy of a day this is, and how we find ourselves faking happiness, and pretending that everything is okay, when it's NOT.
B Mack's brother in law made the news for making his house look like the Grinch. Check out our socials for the amazing photo! Tim Hortons will roll out new packaging and cutlery across Canada in early 2023! B Mack is devastated that Captain Sandy is talking over for Captain Lee on Below Deck! Have you checked out the Podcast “normal gossip” it's sooooo good! We find out who the winner of the Sleep Country $500 GC is!

If you've bought something online recently, you've probably seen a payment option to spread out the purchase in installments. This is known as Buy Now, Pay Later and it's popping up all over Canada with companies like Amazon, Adidas, Samsung and Sleep Country. But why is it all over the place all of a sudden?Finance reporter and columnist Tim Kiladze looked into it, and he explains where it came from, how it affects credit, and how it encourages people to spend more money.Questions? How was Doug Ford totally fine after swallowing a bee? Friday is National Dog Day and we have paired up with Sleep Country to give you the chance to win a brand new bed for your furry best friend ALL DAY LONG! What is your go-to excuse for being late? Karly wants to know why the bank plays such depressing music when your on hold? B Mack was insulted that Karly told him he had an ugly tongue just like her…Did you know as your tongue ages, it may show cracks and ridges and it's totally normal. Have you ever heard of the Air Up Water Bottle? The idea is to ween you off unhealthy drinks. 1 - Take a sip of plain water from your air up® bottle and let the science of retro-nasal smell kick into action. 2 - Natural flavors are transported through your mouth up to your nose, where your brain interprets the scent as flavor. 3 - You drink plain water, but experience flavors like cucumber, orangeade, and mango-passion fruit. Think of it as tasting with your nose.

Someone messaged us saying “Instead of rich guys paying for my drinks as a twenty year old, is there older rich guys waiting at gas stations to pay for my gas tank fillup?” TOO funny… We talk more about when a best friend breaks up with you, and how it’s harder than a significant other’s relationship breakup. We did the second last round of snoring to qualify for Sleep Country’s big grand prize for tomorrow, and the last chance to win tix to the Weeknd by playing the Newsworthy Lyrics game. At a recent Brooklyn Nets game, confetti was falling from the rafters during the game, onto the basketball court, as there was a concert the night before in the arena! HILARIOUS

Mike Gettis, co-founder of Endy, has eighty-nine million reasons to be a disruptor. Along with his business partner Raj Ruparell, the duo began selling pillows online, but soon realized to control their distribution channel, they would have to alter their product line. Out sprung Endy, the customer-focused mattress company famous for Mattress-in-a-Box. Founded in 2015, Gettis and his partner observed companies were doing much of the same in terms of products, distribution and marketing; their revolutionary concept landed them an $89M deal with Sleep Country.
