Morning Mantra: “Tiny steps will take you there.”That's what most of life is… tiny steps. One tiny step that you take every day in the right direction. So when you look back down the road it all adds up and you know you covered some distance. It took me a long time to accept this, but it's true, you need to have patience with your journey.Looking at the big picture can be so overwhelming that you never take the first step. So take a tiny one. Then take another. You'll get to the same destination. It might take a little longer, but you'll get there.#BeOkayMovingSlow #BeHappy #BeHorsey #BeHippie #HorseHippie #MorningMantra #inspirationalQuotes #MorningMotivation #Equestrian #HorseLover #QuotesToInspire #HorseHippieBrand #HorseHippieBoutique

We're doing a deep dive on Julia Cameron's Twelve Week Process of The Artist's Way. This is week 8:"One of the most difficult tasks an artist must face is a primal one: artistic survival. All artists must learn the art of surviving loss: loss of hope, loss of face, loss of money, loss of self-belief. In addition to our many gains, we inevitable suffer these losses in an artistic career. They are hazards of the road and, in many ways, its signposts. Artist losses can be turned into artistic gains and strengths—but not in the isolation of the beleaguered artist's brain." - Julia Cameronhttps://juliacameronlive.com/GET AN OCCASIONAL PERSONAL EMAIL FROM ME: www.makeyourdamnbedpodcast.comTUNE IN ON INSTAGRAM FOR COOL CONTENT: www.instagram.com/mydbpodcastOR BE A REAL GEM + TUNE IN ON PATREON: www.patreon.com/MYDBpodcastOR WATCH ON YOUTUBE: www.youtube.com/juliemerica The opinions expressed by Julie Merica and Make Your Damn Bed Podcast are intended for entertainment purposes only. Tiny Steps of Trust DailyPsalm 56:3-4 “But in the day that I'm afraid, I lay all my fears before you and trust in you with all my heart. What harm could a man bring to me? With God on my side, I will not be afraid of what comes.”Today I decided to read from the Jesus Calling Devotional. I have not done that in a while; I am not sure why. For those of you who don't know, this is a devotional book written as if God is speaking to you each day. It is really good and often says exactly what you need to hear for that day. Today's spoke right to me. It reminded me how important it is to trust God in all times with all things. It is just as important to trust Him with the small things, as it is to trust Him with the big things. I will read today's devotional for you as I think it will speak to you just as much as it spoke to me.“TRUST ME with every fiber of your being! What I can accomplish in and through you is proportional to how much you depend on me. One aspect of this is the degree to which you trust me in a crisis or major decision. Some people fail miserably here, while others are at their best in tough times. Another aspect is even more telling: the consistency of your trust in me. People who rely on me in the midst of adversity may forget about me when life is flowing smoothly. Difficult times can jolt you into awareness of your need for me, whereas smooth sailing can lull you into a stupor of self-sufficiency.I care as much about your tiny trust-steps through daily life as about your daily dramatic leaps of faith. You may think that no one else notices, but the One who is always beside you sees everything — and rejoices. Consistently trusting in me is vital to flourishing in my presence.”Do you see what I mean when I say it often says exactly what you need to hear for the day? I love that it is written as if God is saying it directly to you. This is truly how God talks to us. I am not sure how many of you listening have taken the time to sit and listen to what God has to say to you. If you have not, give it a try today. God wants to talk to each one of us, and yet the world around us is so noisy it is hard to hear him. However, if we sit down and take the time to listen, we will hear what He wants to tell us. This can take time and also practice. The more time you put into trying to hear God talking to you, the more clearly you will hear Him. The more you will begin to recognize what He sounds like to you.I have a journal, and I try to write in it as often as I can. In 2020 I changed the way I write in my prayer journal. I used to just write the God about my day and what was going on in my life. I still do this, but I don't just do this. Now, I try to stop and take the time to listen to what God has to say back to me. This has been amazing. I have spent a lot of time listening and have given the Lord time to speak into my life, and it has been life-changing. You would be surprised what the Lord wants to say to you if you only gave Him the time to say it. He is so gentle and affirming.Sometimes, we think we wouldn't want to hear what the Lord has to say because we feel we aren't doing a very good job, and He probably wouldn't have anything nice to say to us. This is not true. That is what the enemy wants you to think so that you don't stop and give the Lord time to speak love, light, and truth into your life. When you give Him the time, and you listen, you will be surprised at how nicely He talks to you. You will be surprised at how much He loves you. Even in our brokenness, even in our sin, He still speaks so much love into us. It is truly amazing. This is why I started ending each episode with the Word from the Lord that He gave to our prayer group. The more we all start hearing the way He talks to us, the more we will start to recognize it when we hear Him talking in our own lives. Here is what I do when I write to the Lord. I write Him a letter, and then I ask Him to answer me using my pen, and then I start to write a letter back to myself. I don't question what comes to mind; I don't overthink it; I just write everything that comes to mind. Does that mean that every single thing I write down is from the Lord? No, probably not. However, I asked Him to answer me, and when we ask, He answers, so I trust that what I am writing down is from Him.After you are done writing it down, you can re-read it and see what you wrote and how it makes you feel. If you wrote anything down that makes you feel bad, shameful, or guilty, that is probably not from the Lord. That is not how He talks to us. Sometimes He will convict us of something if we are doing something wrong. However, He doesn't use shame and guilt to do it. God does not condemn us. He lovingly points us in another direction and then gives us the strength to go in that other direction. Anything you are not sure of, you can take to discernment. You can ask the Lord to clarify; you can ask the Lord to explain more, and you can always go deeper with what you got in the letter. If you do this often enough, you will recognize patterns. You will see that He tends to say the same things over and over again because we tend not to listen. Yet, He keeps saying them until we do listen. The verse above says, “But in the day that I'm afraid, I lay all my fears before you and trust in you with all my heart. What harm could a man bring to me? With God on my side, I will not be afraid of what comes.” This is a good verse for today because I know a lot of people who are staring down some pretty big fears. Whether they are worried about losing their job, getting sick, or finding a new job, it is all scary. Several people I know are also sick and are worried they won't be healed. This can be very scary to think you will have to live with this illness for the rest of your life. This is why today's verse is so important. There verse says that I lay all my fears before you and trust you with all my heart. I hope we are all doing this. I hope when something scary comes our way, our first instinct is to turn it over to the Lord. Give Him our cares, and He will help us carry them. He will even carry them for us if we can be brave enough to let go and let Him carry them for us. Often we want to pick them back up again. But if we can fully let go, He will take care of them for us. If we can trust Him to do this, our worries and cares become so much lighter. My favorite part of the devotional from Jesus Calling is, “Another aspect is even more telling: the consistency of your trust in me.” I also love, “I care as much about your tiny trust-steps through daily life as about your daily dramatic leaps of faith.” These both remind us that although it is important to have trust in the Lord when things are going wrong in our lives, it is just as important to trust Him when things are calm and there isn't a crisis. Do we do this? Do we trust that God is taking care of all the things, or just the big things? When things are going well, do we still turn to the Lord, or do we try to fix those things on our own?I think this devotional gives us something to think about this weekend especially going into the new year. What could we be doing differently? Do we need to be more consistent with our trust in the Lord? What are those tiny trust-steps in our daily life that God is talking about? What if you took 20 minutes sometime today or this weekend and sat down and asked God these questions and then wrote down whatever you think you hear Him say back to you? What an awesome way to end this year and begin next year.Dear Heavenly Father, I ask you to bless all those listening to this episode today. Lord, we want to trust you. We want to trust you not only with the big things but the small things too. Please show us how; please guide us. Help us learn how to take those tiny trust-steps into our daily life. Lord, we ask that you help us hear your voice in our head. We ask you to open our spiritual ears so we can hear you more. Lord, I ask you for a special blessing for each person as they enter this new Year. I ask that you bless them and their families. I ask that you bless their jobs, their ministries, whatever it is they do. I ask for you to help them enter this new year with renewed hope and love. We love you so much, Lord, and we ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus' holy name. Amen!Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus. I can't believe this is the last episode in 2023. Where has the time gone? I am looking forward to 2024 and all it has to offer. I know big things will happen in 2024. I hope you will join me for my new mentoring group. We will definitely go into more detail on how to write back and forth with the Lord, as it has really brought me closer to Him. If you want more details, you can go to my website, walkbodlywithjesus.com, and then go to the mentoring section, or you can CLICK HERE. I look forward to getting to know all who join me a bit better. It will be nice to get to spend some time face-to-face with some of you. I hope you have an amazing weekend. I hope you spend some time this weekend thinking about the upcoming year and what you want to get out of it. If you go into the new year intentionally, you will get so much more out of it. Remember, Jesus really does love you, yes you, and so do I! Have a blessed weekend.Today's Word from the Lord is, “I am the crucified Christ. My blood has freed you. I have washed you clean in my blood. Block your ears to the evil one. He is jealous of my children. His mission is to destroy. I surround my children with my all-consuming love. Love that doesn't skip a beat, and he knows it. Stay strong, stay focused on me.”

Morning Mantra: “Tiny steps will take you there.”That's what most of life is… tiny steps. One tiny step that you take every day in the right direction. So when you look back down the road it all adds up and you know you covered some distance. It took me a long time to accept that, but it's true, you need to have patience.Looking at the big picture can be so overwhelming that you never take the first step. So take a tiny one. Then take another. You'll get to the same destination. Roy L Hales/ Cortes Currents - The Cortes Housing Society has made some important steps towards making the Rainbow Ridge affordable housing project shovel ready. They received a $99,000 grant for the associated trail network and are close to closing the sale of their Gregg Road property. They have applied for two more grants, the final report on housing insecurity in our area is now available and the new plans for the Rainbow Ridge affordable housing project are about to be unveiled. “I'll keep you posted as far as our town hall meeting for around the middle of November, when we want to share the new site plans, the dwelling plans, and the landscape plan,” said Executive Director Sandra Wood. The Cortes Housing Society, Cortes Community Economic Development Association (CCEDA) and Southern Cortes Community Association (SCCA) jointly received a $99,000 grant from the Community Foundations of Canada Healthy Communities Initiative. “The plan is to connect those three properties more efficiently and beautifully so that people can walk from the Health Centre through the Rainbow Ridge property into the CCEDA property next door and ultimately to and from Mansons Hall. It's an east west corridor connection that doesn't exist right now and is a way to keep people off of Beasley Road if they want to have a more pleasant forest experience. We'll create a more vibrant village core and have more connection between our three adjacent properties,” explained Wood. Some of the money will be used to renovate the old deck on Manson's Hall, which is starting to show signs of wear and doesn't have ramp access for people with mobility challenges. The SCCA is going to make improvements to their outdoor spaces. Wood added, “We're hoping that there'll be enough money, as well, to make improvements on the cemetery road end of the existing trail at the South end of the Rainbow Ridge property. We'd really like to reroute that to higher ground so that it's not so wet in the winter and to better connect with the Siskin Forest Trail head, so that people don't get lost when they're trying to get from Siskin Forest into Rainbow Ridge.” The contract for this work has not yet been awarded, but Wood said there were a number of qualified contractors on Cortes Island. They may use gravel in sections that have drainage issues, but it is an expensive resource and most of the trail will be finished with wood chips. Wood said a lot of this will come from the trees and tree limbs that will be removed. “The timing of that healthy community's initiative couldn't be better in that finally the rains have arrived on Cortes. That's going to reduce the fire risk, as far as dropping trees for the new trail route. It also means that the bird migration is almost over, as far as them heading south for the winter. Our plan always was to do the trail work through the winter months, so that we would not impact the bird nesting. Our plan is to have that finished by April 1, 2023, before they come back looking to build their new nests,” explained Wood. Earlier this year, she informed Cortes Currents the Cortes Housing Society had been given a property on the corner of Gregg and Sutil Point Roads. They intend to sell this plot to raise capital for the Rainbow Ridge project. A prospective buyer has come forward and agreed to pay the $200,000 asking price. “We are hoping that the sale is going to close this week. It's between the lawyers right now, and the paperwork is hopefully being completed. I should be able to tell you who the new owner is next week,” said Wood.

When you encounter one of those ‘bad days', take small action. Consistent tiny steps will over time make a huge difference. Compounded ‘bad days' with tiny action will create noticeable progress in the long run. We think that our actions need to be huge in order to make a difference in our lives. But it is far from the truth. Winning teams don't always hit a home run every time. They just need to hit it consistently.

My guest for this episode is Robyn Schiller. It was two years ago that I reached out to her husband Warwick Schiller to be a guest on my podcast. He's a very well-known horse trainer with an extensive video subscription library. Then, a year ago, I got to meet Robyn (and Warwick in person) at the Cactus Reining Classic. We visited after I had gotten to see Robyn ride her reining horse in the show. She mentioned that she used to be in the corporate world, in Human Resources, which definitely made me very interested to talk to her. I invited Robyn on the podcast because there is always more to success than meets the eye – whether we are talking about her performance in the arena, or in the business that she and Warwick run together. Robyn is the behind-the-scenes force that get things done in their business. Soon, she will also be offering her wisdom alongside Warwick at a clinic they are doing in Australia titled Resolving Anxiety in Horses and Humans Masterclass. She previewed some of what she will be teaching in this podcast, especially about how our survival brain can get activated and what we can do about that. One of the themes of this conversation was making the unseen visible to others. The magic is often in understanding that behind the slick surface, there is always more than meets the eye. Our conversation ranged among many topics, dancing between horses and humans and especially what we have in common and what we can learn from each other. There is so much wisdom in this podcast – especially at the end – and if you come away with nothing else, you will learn how it's the little things that add up to the big things. As time passes, the initial coronavirus lockdown sinks further and further into the past. It's tempting to try to forget about it and start fresh. But we all have individual and collective traumas to continue processing as well as things we've learned about ourselves that we can integrate into our new lives moving forward. Those who do this healing work will have better skills for self-care when new challenges come along, and we'll feel a deeper sense of peace. This episode includes some reflections on what I've personally learned about myself and what I'm trying to do differently now, and it ends with an inspirational poem that illustrates this kind of self-discovery and personal growth. Highlights Introduction and reflection :41 - 5:41 Reflect with me on two years of lockdown and isolation 5:45 - 6:40 Think about it: what did you learn about yourself? Insights from my pandemic experience 6:40 My anxiety drives controlling behaviors and puts others on edge 7:17 My pet peeves about others often reflect my own unwanted behaviors 7:45 Busy-ness is addictive 8:24 Accommodating others is exhausting, but being creative makes me feel present and alive 9:48 Setting boundaries is hard, but the freedom is so worth it I may be a loner, but I still need my sister friends Moving forward Making smaller changes is more sustainable and makes for better results My new perspective on setting boundaries Inspirational poem on learning and growing after bad experiences: “There's a Hole in My Sidewalk” Poem reflection and takeaways: our expectations for personal growth versus the actual healing process If this conversation has brought you to an insight, a story, a sense of relief, please email me at lisa@insideoutrecovery.com and let me know. On today's episode of Make + Design, Carina talks about the progress that designers make over time. She talks about taking a somewhat embarrassing (for her!) trip down memory lane when she recently searched for herself on the internet. Over 15 years of search results, she saw a lot of progress in her design work. She had a similar experience when she taught college, seeing the huge improvement that design students made from their first year of college through their senior year of college. While going to college is a great way to get a design education, Carina doesn't recommend college for those transitioning into a second career. For those looking to start a second career, finding a great, year-long program that teaches specific skills is the better way to go. Carina invites all of us to go back and look at our design work so that we can see the improvement and progress that we've made over time. She encourages us to stick with it because good things will come as we continue to work and improve. __________ Download Carina's free guide: The 7 Tips Nobody Will Tell You About Becoming a Surface Pattern Designer here: http://eepurl.com/dN2RcY __________ About Carina Gardner: Carina Gardner is a fabric designer, paper designer, and design educator who is passionate about helping other designers fulfill their creative dreams by teaching them her strategies for making money as a designer. Post Purchase PRO - Profitable Email Marketing For Amazon Sellers
This is the post purchase pro podcast, episode 34: How to Accomplish Anything in Your Business with Tiny Steps. Welcome that Sean Heart, along with Seth Stephens, a co-founder post purchase Pro. Seth today, we're going to talk about how to accomplish almost any task in your business or your personal life, to be exact, by cutting it up into tiny, tiny steps that could be repeated. He was kinda funny that you brought this topic up, because, over the last week, Sean, I've been talking with several business owners, especially business owners in the Amazon space, and this keeps coming up. It's like, how do you scale? How can you break your business apart into different processes? How can you get somebody in your business to help you along the way? So when you started talking about, you know, the way that we've been able to build businesses is to break, break a big task up into small, tiny little steps. I got all amped up and ready to have recorded this today. Sean? Yeah, so what brought it up to me was the you know, the we all talk about opt in about the four minute mile. No, so the four minute mile it's it's easy to overlook the story. But when Roger banister broke the four minute mile on May 6 1954 Oxford University, UK, I think I got that right. What people often overlook Seth is that it didn't just walk out there and start training for a four minute mile, they didn't just jump on the track and decide to run a four minute mile. But what what people forget is that a lot of people, a heck of a lot smarter, than Roger banister, said this is impossible. The human body cannot achieve this but, luckily, mister Banister did not approved, did not agree with that theory. and a lot of folks know obviously that the four minute mile was broken and that within that year that that record had been broken a couple more times pretty quickly. It expanded the mind into what was possible, but the most important lessons that the thing that stands out the most to me is that when Roger went out to do that, he didn't do it in one city. First, he trained to see if he could get to the point, his goal was to do a quarter of a mile, in, in 15 minutes, right? Or, I'm sorry, in one minute, I'm reading over here at the same time. So, you can't go out there and say, hey, I'm going to run a mile in four minutes. No, he says, I'm going to run a quarter of a mile in one minute, OK? Check, was a tiny step. Now, let's see if I can do a half a mile, right, in NaN, check. Now, we'll see if we can, oh, my gosh. Yeah, see, I'm getting my back's backwards there. But the idea is, is that, know, if you want to complete a mile in four minutes, cut it up into tiny, bite sized pieces. Right? All right, Do you're, you're, you're a quarter mile, and in one minute, you're half a mile, two minutes. And then, once you accomplish that task, go out there and do your, three quarters of a mile, in three minutes, and then finally, he was able to go out and break the four minute mile mark. Legend has it, you know we weren't there, because it was 20 years before I was even thought of, is that the time was three minutes, NaN. The fact, Seth, that's so profound, to me, is that Roger banister cut that up into small, bite sized pieces. So when you think about it, one of my favorite authors, Evers, Augment Dino. And if you ever get a chance to read or listened to the book, it's called the greatest salesman in the world. And one of the quotes the og says in th
IMAGINE... How good would it feel to get to the end of the year and know that just 12 months earlier you set some big ambitious goals AND YOU ACTUALLY ACHIEVED THEM!? Wouldn't that be a celebration? The thing is... it's actually not that hard if you know how to do it. When they say we all have a purpose, it is quite true, and Brandy Montague's story is no exception. In her particular case, she found it earlier (at the age of three!) and stayed on this path where she continues to strive to make a difference. She says that having grown up in a rural farm community definitely had “a huge influence on her to help animals for the rest of her life.” In this episode, she shares the different points in her life that have led to founding For Animals. For Earth., a platform for animal and environmental activism. Animal lovers are also in for a treat as Brandy shares a technique of Animal Reiki for communicating with animals! Not only that, we thought this could be helpful for anyone who's just started or in the middle or finding a new purpose, to hear from someone like Brandy who encourages us to “take a tiny step, one little thing at a time” and we'll see how everything snowballs from there. A lot of us find it really hard to change our deeply ingrained habits, whether it's giving up a habit that's bad for our health or our concentration, or trying to adopt a new habit. So I was glad to have this conversation with Dr. Heather McKee, who is a behaviour change specialist, consulting to organisations. This is a really honest conversation between Heather and me, where we talk through some of our own bad habits, and Heather gave some cracking advice on how to change them. Courtney Carver was stopped in her tracks with a scary MS diagnosis after decades of debt, discontent, and trying to do it all. She had to slow down, prioritize her health, and figure out what was really important in her life. She discovered what mattered most by getting rid of everything that didn't matter at all. In the end it all came down to love and health. She went from a busy, overwhelmed advertising director to spending 2-3 hours every morning taking care of herself, loving her work, and being present and engaged with the people she loves. Her family changed, too. They moved from wanting bigger closets, nicer furniture, and more stuff to downsizing into a 750 sq. ft apartment with no storage. Courtney has written books, courses, and hundreds of articles to help you simplify your life and work so you can focus on what really matters.
