Fabian Alefeld hosts Duann Scott on the Editor Snack podcast to discuss how AI is evolving in additive manufacturing, moving from “AI-washing” and impractical text-to-mesh hype toward more capable tools using language models, visual language models, surrogate models, and emerging foundational models. Scott describes testing tools by trying to make them fail and highlights a recent success with the Raven plugin for Rhino/Grasshopper, which generated a parametric VESA mount and tripod adapter from minimal prompts, then iteratively added fillets and an isogrid structure and produced a printable part within hours. They discuss constraints like missing engineering training data and design intent, the promise of AI for toolpath and process optimization (including transfer of parameter knowledge across materials), and the role of the 3MF format in capturing toolpath and metadata to enable richer, searchable datasets. Scott previews CDFAM events in Barcelona, DC, and Tokyo and emphasizes that progress requires significant data work and investment. 00:00 Welcome and Guest Intro 02:18 AI Hype to Real Progress 04:13 Testing AI Design Tools 04:46 Data Gaps and Design Intent 07:15 Two Paths for AI Design 10:15 Raven Grasshopper Breakthrough 13:17 Pushing Parametric Complexity 20:28 Limits of Black Box Optimization 22:40 Toolpath and Material Transfer 26:18 Alloy Discovery and Qualification 28:05 3MF Role Teaser 28:18 3MF Format Overview 29:17 Smarter Toolpath Extensions 32:31 Metadata for AI Training 35:43 Data Ownership and Synthetic Data 39:59 AI Impact on Additive 44:10 Workforce and Reshoring 47:22 What Is CDFAM 49:49 CDFAM Audience and Format 51:43 DC Event and Government 54:05 Wrap Up and Thanks
Famida Choudhary is joined by Cat Chowdhary for a thought-provoking discussion on what real progress in lessons truly means. Moving beyond task completion and content coverage, the conversation explores progress as a shift in thinking — from “then” to “now.” Drawing on research, the gradual release model, adaptive teaching, and evidence-informed feedback practices, the show examines how clarity, questioning, and student response drive meaningful learning. A reflective and practical discussion for teachers and leaders committed to ensuring progress is measured by understanding — not just performance.
Send Steve a Text MessageStuck playing the same licks but not getting better? This conversation maps a clear path from autopilot to intentional practice so your limited time turns into visible progress and real confidence on the fretboard. We unpack how to set precise goals, track your growth, and build pillars of skill that stack into the kind of player you actually want to be.We start by separating maintaining from improving, then show how to convert vague aims like “learn scales” into exact targets such as clean alternate picking through pentatonic position one at a set tempo. From chord transitions that ring true to timing that locks with a click, we focus on micro goals you can measure. You'll hear practical tactics: slow practice to expose flaws, isolation drills to fix them, and short recording check-ins to keep you honest. We also talk daily structure—why warm-ups are maintenance, not growth—and how to theme practice days around technique, creativity, theory, or fretboard visualization.Overwhelm is a real blocker, so we tackle information overload and the myth that you must learn everything at once. If your next milestone is expressive blues, you don't need sweeps tomorrow; you need bend intonation, vibrato, and note targeting over I–IV–V. We walk through using the CAGED system to see the neck, connecting shapes with purpose, and planning backward from your 90‑day goal. Then we fit it all to your time budget with a simple loop: define, drill, apply, reflect. When you focus on less, you progress more—and motivation follows. If you're ready to turn practice into proof, hit play and bring a notebook. Pastor Femi Paul brought a strong declaration of assurance from Psalm 32:3–8, emphasising that God is both our hiding place and our guide. In every storm of life, financial, career, medical, relational, or otherwise, the Lord preserves, protects, and surrounds us with songs of victory. More profoundly, God promises not merely to observe our efforts or struggles, but to watch our progress. This reveals divine supervision over advancement, not stagnation. Progress for the believer is intentional and guaranteed by Jehovah. The message reinforced that real progress is not accidental; it is guided along the best pathway ordained by God. PFP led us into thanksgiving, acknowledging God's visible hand in our lives and declaring that great and amazing opportunities for progress are guaranteed. The service concluded with prayers from Jude 1:20, charging us to build ourselves up in faith as we advance into tangible, measurable, and sustained progress. Confession: My progress is guaranteed by the Lord. I walk in real and great advancement.

In this episode of The Admittedly Podcast, Thomas Caleel sits down with Kathy Yellen, Senior Program Consultant at Advantage Testing, to pull back the curtain on what most families misunderstand about tutoring and test prep. With 16 years at Advantage Testing and a background spanning early childhood education, classroom teaching, and performance, Kathy explains what her role actually looks like: listening to families, building a roadmap, and "matchmaking" students with the right tutors so the relationship works, not just the schedule. Together, Thomas and Kathy unpack the real concerns parents bring to the table when they're navigating SAT/ACT prep or academic tutoring for the first time, including confusion, misinformation, and the fear that "we're behind." Key Topics: What Advantage Testing "program consulting" actually is, and why the student-tutor match matters as much as expertise How families should approach test prep and academic tutoring when they don't know where to start Why there is no "only way" to prep and how to tune out conflicting opinions and social media noise What tutoring is (and is not): scaffolding, mentorship, and confidence-building, not replacement or shortcutting When to consider tutoring, including support, remediation, and enrichment, and why timing depends on the student Why practice test scores often fluctuate and how to evaluate progress using trendlines, not single data points How to handle mid-process stress and what to do if the match isn't working (and why course correction should happen early) Guest: Kathy Yellen: Senior Program Consultant at Advantage Testing with 16 years of experience supporting families through academic tutoring and test preparation. Kathy holds a BA in English from Tufts University and an MST in Early Childhood Education from Fordham University, and has worked as a teacher, tutor, actor, and singer before joining Advantage Testing. Send us a textJanuary is the time when motivation drops and many people start thinking they already failed their New Year's goals. In this solo episode, I talk about why most January goals don't stick and why it usually has nothing to do with discipline or willpower.I share my own experience of moving from December's noise into January's quiet, and why that shift often makes people feel stuck, tired, or frustrated. Most goals fail because they're simply too big, too vague, and too strict to work in real life.I also use alcohol as a real example, because it shows this pattern better than almost anything else. I explain how alcohol affects sleep and recovery, why all-or-nothing thinking makes progress harder, and why extreme rules often backfire.Instead of asking “Should I quit alcohol?”, I suggest asking better questions:Why do I drink? What role does it play in my life right now? And what would a smaller, more realistic change look like? This episode is not about Dry January or being perfect. It's about lowering pressure, shrinking your goals, and focusing on consistency instead of intensity. If January feels harder than you expected, this episode will help you reset your goals and keep going without burning out.
Not all metrics are created equal — and some of the numbers we track every day are quietly working against us. In this episode, we break down why “feel-good” metrics can give insurance agency owners a false sense of productivity, even while revenue, momentum, and clarity stall out. From inflated task counts and misleading activity reports to quote volume, call numbers, and daily wins taken out of monthly context, we explore how tracking the wrong data can make you busy without being effective. If you've ever ended the day feeling productive but unsure what actually moved the needle, this episode will help you rethink what you measure, why it matters, and how to choose metrics that drive real results instead of comfort. Perfect for agency owners who want clarity, better decision-making, and sustainable growth — not just a dashboard that looks good. Busy isn't the same as better. We sat down with product strategist, coach and consultant, and now a pubslihed author Tim Herbig to unpack a simple truth: real progress with impact that matters happens when strategy, metrics, and discovery align. If you lead change across a product, a platform team, culture or your own habits - you'll leave with a clearer way to choose what to focus on, what to measure, and what to learn.Say no with confidence. Juventus are finally showing REAL progress under Luciano Spalletti — clearer patterns, cleaner build-up, and more control… but now comes the Roma test. Are the Bianconeri truly turning a corner, or is this just a good stretch before the pressure hits?In this episode we break down: what's changed in Spalletti's Juventus, the key tactical “signals” that prove growth, the matchups that will decide Juventus vs Roma, and the ONE thing Juve must get right to leave with a result. About the Episode On this episode, I speak to Tim Herbig, long-time product management coach, speaker, and author of the new book "Real Progress". Tim has worked with companies like StepStone, Chrono24, Deutsche Telekom and Specsavers, and has spent years helping product managers stop hiding behind frameworks and start making a meaningful impact. His work focuses on helping teams connect product strategy, OKRs and discovery without falling into the trap of rigid process correctness. Episode highlights: Alibi Progress vs Real Progress - how teams hide behind "the right way" of doing things, obsessing over methods and templates instead of asking whether any of it actually works The Progress Wheel - Tim's diagnostic loop that ties strategy, OKRs and discovery together so teams can see where they're actually stuck and what to do next The three attributes of good product strategy: Decisiveness, Layering and Executability How to handle OKRs when leadership gives you metrics you can't influence using zones of control and contribution How to sell discovery to sceptical stakeholders - by framing it as "protecting the company's investment", not a fluffy UX ritual Reverse-mapping discovery when you're handed a solution - even if you have to build it, work backwards to define the outcome Why frameworks should be starting points, not destinations - and why Tim would be disappointed if anyone adopted his wheel dogmatically ... And much more. In our latest Leeds, That! podcast episode we dive into the Manchester City 3-2 Leeds thriller at the Etihad (29 Nov 2025). The Whites produced a spirited comeback from 2-0 down – goals by Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha – only for Phil Foden to sweep home a late winner in stoppage time. Was it a harsh defeat or a sign of real progress? We break down the drama and full context. We analyse Daniel Farke's tactical switch to a 3-5-2 at half-time that sparked the Leeds fightback. Calvert-Lewin's impact off the bench (including winning the penalty for Nmecha's equaliser) and City's response – including Foden's early strike – are all on the table. This is your full Premier League reaction: from Leeds' resilience to how they matched up against Guardiola's superstars. With fan passion and humour, we debate whether the performance gives us belief – or just more heartbreak.

Have you ever mapped out a perfect plan for change only to watch it fall apart within days? That cycle is not a discipline problem. It is a sign that the foundation beneath your habit change is missing the elements that make new patterns truly sustainable. Most people focus on the plan itself, not the internal and practical skills that allow a plan to hold up in real life. In this episode, I break down the most common mistakes I see when people try to change their habits and why those approaches backfire. You will lalso learn the four keys that create real progress. When you focus on these foundations, you build habits that work in the midst of unpredictability rather than collapsing under it. We're excited to feature another visionary builder in product management: Tim Herbig, Product Coach and author of the newly released book “Real Progress: How to Connect the Dots of Product Strategy, OKRs and Discovery”.In this episode, Tim joins Matt and Moshe to share how his journey, from being handed a Product Owner role out of the blue, to leading teams and coaching organizations, shaped his mission to help product managers connect strategy, OKRs, and discovery into a framework for real impact.Tim draws on his years of experience across diverse industries and organizations to address a challenge he's seen again and again: teams invite him to solve one issue but quickly discover there are deeper, often interlinked problems between strategic planning, measuring progress, and enabling effective discovery. That's the gap he set out to fill with his book, a hands-on resource designed specifically for PMs and teams looking to go beyond process and frameworks, and start making progress that matters.Join Matt and Moshe as they explore with Tim:The story behind writing “Real Progress” and connecting the dots between strategy, OKRs, and discoveryWhy so many teams appear busy but are stuck making “alibi progress” instead of real impactThe Progress Wheel: a visual tool for mapping how strategic, measurable change drives product successHow to think critically about frameworks, challenging readers to adapt tools for their own context, rather than following them blindlyThe book's practical structure: workbook-like prompts and non-linear sections for self-assessment and targeted improvementKey building blocks of strategy and how they relate to various templates and organizational maturityLinking company strategy to product strategy, and the strategic thinking required for product leadersUsing OKRs to measure if your strategy is working, and spotting when OKRs reveal deeper strategic problemsRole of discovery in reducing strategic risk and building conviction, including how Tim's Evidence Strength Matrix helps teams evaluate signalsFirst steps for teams looking to connect their frameworks and drive improvementAnd much more!Thinking about making progress in your product work? The number on the scale might be going down—but what's actually changing beneath the surface? In this episode, I'm sharing a pattern I see often in clinic: people fully committed to their routines—getting their steps in, strength training, hitting their protein targets—yet their muscle mass is quietly disappearing while fat slowly increases. It's not about doing anything “wrong.” It's about tracking the right things—so your efforts actually support long-term health, not just short-term weight loss. Join me as I unpack why traditional metrics can be misleading, how well-meaning habits can backfire, and what to focus on instead. I'll also walk you through the simple four-step system I use with patients to track meaningful progress and make informed, sustainable changes (without obsessing over every number). If you've been putting in the work but feel unsure about what's really working, this episode will help you zoom out, reassess, and move forward with clarity.ReferencesInBody ScaleEp. 69 - BMI: Proof it Falls Short as a Measure of HealthThe Top 5 Mistakes That People Make on a GLP-1Get Your FREE 3-Day Hunger Hormone Reset Mini Video SeriesAudio Stamps02:30 - Why focusing solely on weight loss numbers can be misleading, plus examples of patients losing muscle while gaining fat.08:45 - The four-step scientific approach to health: pick a plan, decide what's good enough, track consistently, and adjust based on data.15:20 - The importance of defining "good enough" and how perfectionism prevents consistent action.22:10 - Tracking methods, including weekly weight averages and monthly body composition measurements using tools like InBody scales.28:35 All of the information on this podcast is for general informational purposes only. There's a moment in this conversation with 4x Olympic Champion Michael Johnson that stopped me in my tracks. He said, “Success doesn't care what you believe you deserve.”That line sums up what this episode is really about, the difference between wishing for results and doing the work required to earn them.Michael didn't become one of the most dominant athletes in history by chasing comfort. He became great by facing the hard truth. By asking himself the questions most of us avoid. And then doing something about it.In this episode, I unpack the habits Michael used throughout his life, from championship seasons to career-ending injuries to the day he was told he might never walk properly again. It's about discipline, honesty, and doing what it takes, not what feels easy.We explore:Why the best avoid shortcutsThe mindset Michael used to break recordsHow to handle setbacks without denialThe power of asking better questionsWhy doing the uncomfortable thing often leads to growthThis episode is a reminder that high performance doesn't come from believing you're ready. It comes from acting like it, even when no one's watching. Here is more information on the studies referenced: Self-Regulation and Performance in Elite Athletes (Joanne Hudson & Dave Day 2016, Journal of Sport & Exercise Psychology)What Self-Awareness Really Is (and How to Cultivate It), (Dr. Tasha Eurich, Harvard Business Review)Emotion Regulation Choice (Gal Sheppes et al. 2012)Mindset: The New Psychology of Success (Carol Dweck)Self-Control and Grit (Angela Duckworth et al. We as humans tend to look at most everything with a linear perspective. Like every day and our lives are a straight trajectory that is either getting better or worse, depending on the day. We look at our desires as goals and work towards them sequentially, expecting to get closer every day on this so-called, straight line. My guest in this episode is a neuroscientist who believes this is an errant perspective and what our lives and pursuits really align with is experiments. Instead of sequential progress we are often starting over, again and again, till we get it right. I recall the TV series "Lessons in Chemistry," where the main character, Elizabeth Zott, perfected her lasagna recipe after making it 78 times. This wasn't a linear goal, but an exercise in starting over 78 times, with more wisdom each time. For me this really helps with trying this and then trying that to see what works instead of pushing for one method and feeling like a failure if it doesn't work. Dr. Anne-Laure Le Cunff, PhD, is a neuroscientist, entrepreneur, and writer whose work has been in peer-reviewed journals and WIRED, Forbes, Fortune, and Entrepreneur. Her new book is called, Tiny Experiments: How to Live Freely in a Goal-Obsessed World and it's a guide to adopting and living a more experimental life, turning uncertainty into curiosity, and carving a path of self-discovery.
