In this episode of Everyone's Talkin' Money, we're diving into the untold story of stay-at-home moms and financial independence with Karen Johnson, also known as The 21st Century SAHM. Karen opens up about her powerful new book, What Do I Want to Be When They Grow Up?, and the identity crisis many mothers face when they step away from a paycheck to raise their kids. You'll hear: How to reclaim your financial worth as a stay-at-home mom — even if you're not bringing in income The emotional and financial cost of sacrificing your career for your family and how to rebuild your sense of self Why investing in yourself isn't selfish — and how to do it without the mom guilt How to have honest money conversations with your partner when you're not earning a paycheck Karen's top advice for women in their 40s navigating big life pivots and financial decisions Whether you're a stay-at-home mom, a working mom, or somewhere in between, this conversation will remind you that your worth isn't defined by a paycheck — and that it's never too late to invest in you. You'll walk away learning:  Many women feel guilt about pursuing interests outside of motherhood. Motherhood can feel like a death of previous identity. Social media often portrays an unrealistic view of motherhood. Women are conditioned to feel guilty about not enjoying every moment. Perfectionism can negatively impact mental health in motherhood. It's important to focus on accomplishments rather than shortcomings. Unpaid labor in the household is valuable and should be recognized. Women should feel empowered to ask for what they deserve. Many women handle day-to-day finances but lack knowledge of larger financial matters. It's crucial for both partners to be educated about household finances. Financial literacy can prevent future hardships in case of unexpected events. Women often feel guilty about spending money on themselves. Selfishness in financial decisions can be redefined as self-care. Finding personal hobbies is essential for mental well-being. Aging can bring a sense of freedom and acceptance. Conversations about money should be open and honest, without guilt. Good morning, afternoon, and evening everyone. Thank you so much for joining. What an honor it is that you chose to share time with me. This podcast series uses the art of story telling to share one of the most amazing adventures in life, what I call “A Modern-Day Vision Quest.” The adventure was my journey of Personal Growth, Self-Discovery, and Enlightenment.  To sum it up briefly, I had healed most of the wounds and impact from a traumatic childhood which I talk about in my book, Discovering Michael: An Inspiration Guide to Personal Growth & Self-Discovery. Following this phase of growth (which I term Personal Growth), what surfaced were nagging thoughts deep within to related to understanding who I truly am (Self-Discovery), and what life was all about and how I fit in (Enlightenment). Inspired by the movie, "Dances With Wolves", and The Call" by Jennifer James, I left a full-time job to backpack and volunteer around the world. I came face-to-face with situations that challenged my prior beliefs and ultimately resulted in learning about life itself and Discovering Michael. This talk is a collection of true stories about my adventures and learnings to hopefully engage you in a thought-provoking manner, while guiding and inspiring you for your own journey of self-discovery!! Part 3 continues with real-life stories about the segue I made from the Personal Growth stage to the Self-Discovery stage. There was a change within me following all the work I did in the Personal Growth stage, that was longing for a deeper understanding of self. It was characterized by questions such as "Who Am I?", "What Do I Stand For?" and "What Do I Want to Be When I Grow Up?" Before I was aware of the questions was a nagging feeling to learn more about myself and life. I share my story about the events and people that came into my life to clarify what this feeling was all about, and ultimately the amazing adventure I was about to embark on.

The Presence Projects presents episode 97 of the "Are You Being Present?" podcast series.  Join Paul for a podcast that introduces a statement, an affirmation and a powerful Presence Tool that can help to alleviate resistance, resentment, frustration and self-inflicted suffering. The title and topic of this episode is “Ok This Is Happening, What Do I Want to Do About It in This Present Moment?".  In this podcast Paul discusses the need to greet each Present Moment with acceptance, open arms, clarity and neutrality.  He shares with the audience a statement/greeting that can transcend negative ego thought streams into a state of acceptance for what is taking place in the here and now.   As we navigate life on Earth we encounter, and at times react to, undesirable situations containing people, places and things that cause resistance and resentment.  These behaviors are Presence obstructions that create negative states of being allowing for self-inflicted suffering at the hands of the ego.  By creating a Presence Practice, using Presence Tools and being the observer of the loud voice in your head you can use the statement "Ok This Is Happening, What Do I Want to Do About It in This Present Moment?" to establish a state of Presence, peace and prosperity.  It may take a concerted effort to use this statement when confronted with multiple challenges/opportunities but with practice, perseverance and dedication it can become second nature. As always, it is advisable to listen to earlier podcasts that discuss other Presence topics and Presence Tools that can be implemented to help shift into the Present Moment.  Please check out the rest of the "Are You Being Present?" podcasts series on our website, iTunes and YouTube!   Remember you have a choice.  Choose to be present! https://www.areyoubeingpresent.com
