U.S. government surveillance bubbled back up in headlines in recent weeks. Portugal's data protection authority halted transfers of data to the U.S. after complaints that census data were being sent back to the U.S. The same week, a U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court decision was published, in which it renewed a U.S. surveillance program even though it found some Federal Bureau of Investigation employees illegally accessed email data. This comes as the U.S. and EU try to hammer out a renewed data transfer agreement in the wake of the "Schrems II" decision that invalidated Privacy Shield. April Falcon Doss worked at the U.S. National Security Agency for 13 years. In 2017, Doss joined the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence for the Russia investigation. She also wrote a book, "Cyber Privacy: Who Has Your Data and Why You Should Care," and took a new job at Georgetown University Law Center. Host Jedidiah Bracy recently caught up with Doss to discuss the state of play of U.S. surveillance law, her new book, what she found out while investigating the 2016 presidential election, and what's on the horizon with her new gig at Georgetown.

This isn't a cheesy sales pitch but there is a better way. You can get the talent you need and it will be at the right price. You just have to think differently and think globally. WHY I FOUNDED EXTEND YOUR TEAM. After growing an e-commerce company to $5MM in annual revenue, I was buried with running the business. Before long, I started working 14+ hours/day managing multiple teams, projects, and completing low-value tasks. To be open, I was miserable. That's when I connected with Angelica, a mid career pro from the Philippines, to help me run my business as my Chief of Staff - reducing the time I spent on the business by 80%. We're finally back in the studio! This week we look forward at the various ways the US could legalize cannabis 1) Why You Should Care about US Legalization - US is the crown jewel of the international market - Over $12B USD in state-legal sales in 2019 (vs $1.2B CAD for Canada) - Huge capital available once NASDAQ & NYSE listings are available - US has higher prices, limited licenses and far less government regulation for cannabis 2) How will US Legalization Go Down? - Likely to be a phased approached as opposed to one big legalization Several possibilities for how it can be done: a) Decriminalization b) De-scheduling or Re-scheduling (may come under FDA regulation) c) SAFE Act - access to banking and lending d) STATES Act - allows state law to be compliant with federal law e) Full Legalization - federally mandates legalization across entire country 3) What is the Biden Plan? Will it actually happen? - Biden Plan is a marketing document designed to excite the base - We need to see Biden mention the plan or champion it before believing it - Biden Plan involves medical legalization + STATES Act 4) How Will Legalization Change the Industry? - Effect on industry will depend on the type of legalization - SAFE vs STATES vs Full Federal Legalization - Being on US Exchanges will be the biggest catalyst 5) Will cannabis be allowed to cross state lines? 6) How to Invest around Legalization

Like most people, you probably get a blood test and keep your fingers crossed until the results come back. But while these tests focus on key components of your blood, they provide only a limited view of what’s going on in your body. Blood tests don’t tell you about heavy metals or unwanted pathogens that maybe coursing through your body. They don’t tell you how strong your immune system is or whether your cells are getting the nutrients they need. Only when something goes very wrong—and has possibly been going wrong for years—do your blood tests indicate a problem. What’s in Your Blood & Why You Should Care is the first book to provide a complete picture of the components that make up your blood, how your blood functions, and what you can do to improve the quality of your blood for greater health and longevity.

The tech is not so much the issue, but how it is used.Ideally all ads in podcasts should be read by the podcast host, an approach that can work with dynamic ad insertion. One needs to be really careful to make sure the listener experience isn’t degraded at all from this ad delivery method. One must be mindful of where the ad break is placed inside or at the beginning of content. One also needs to be mindful that using music fades around dynamic ads must be thought through. Some may run dynamic ad insertion with more traditional radio ad type spots with the big brand advertisers. Dynamic ad insertion, if done correctly would not disrupt the long standing host reads experience listeners to podcasts have become accustomed to. No listener would know we’re using ad insertion to deliver an host read or regular old 15 or 30 sec radio spot, because it sounds the same as our other ads they are used to hearing.Dynamic Ad Insertion is rapidly becoming the de facto way of doing business in the Podcasting space. Reality is that there will be a flood of inventory in the space and the CPM rates will likely plummet unless we see more ad targeting in podcasting as a buffer to keep CPM’s up.Dynamic Ad Insertion and Programmatic type ad marketplaces and buying brings risk of commoditization of ad impressions in downloads. Forward-looking podcasters will figure out what their premium content offering products will be to offset these drops in CPM or ad revenue. Podcasters need to diversify.Combining audio with video and click-through ads is part of the solution, but some will be able to sell subscriptions, live performance tickets and other products that add value to their listeners. This show can be heard in: SLS show Apps on iOS and Android, Spreaker Podcast Radio apps for Android and iOS, iTunes, iHeartRadio, Stitcher, Google Play Music, Radioline.com! In Episode 1 of the Lion’s Share Marketing Podcast our featured guest, Jon Henshaw, offers insight into the importance of optimizing websites for search. Jon is the CEO and Co-Founder of Raven Tools, a platform that provides SEO Analyses and Reporting Software for digital marketers. This growing company recently launched its new standalone Site Auditor Tool targeted for professional SEOs and SMBs to identify issues with their websites. Jon Henshaw discusses the importance of site speed for mobile browsing and tools such as SourceSet that can be used to increase the speed of sites to provide a better user experience. Additionally, Jon encourages digital marketers to pay close attention to where Google is headed- especially in regards to the change on focus from desktop to mobile, security, speed, and user experience. Jon elaborates on AMPs (Accelerated Mobile Pages) being the solution Google is using to address the speed of pages across the web as well as the search giant’s true intentions behind using AMPs. The way AMP works is by converting a copy of your content into an AMP version. Google then takes the AMP version and puts it in their own server. When a user conducts a search it takes them to the AMP version and they never really visit your site- meaning that users stay on Google and view your content through the AMP version. The AMP version strips the page of advertisements, and unless there are internal links in that content that lead users to your site, the users will never actually land on your site. Only about 3% of users who go on AMP pages actually end up visiting the original site. Join us in this conversation about site speed, AMP, and Search Engine Optimization and learn more about the steps that marketing leaders should take to prepare for the changes set in motion by Google.   Time Stamps 00:00 – Podcast Welcome 00:19 – Co-hosts/ Podcast Introduction 00:53 – What’s on the News Today | Mazda Drive for Good Campaign 02:30 – Featured Interview with Co-Founder and CEO of Raven Tools: Jon Henshaw 03:33 – What is Raven Tools and how to get started 05:40 – Google changes and how Raven Tools can support web masters 07:01 – SourceSet 09:00 – Why marketing leaders should care about site speed 10:48 – Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) 12:05 – AMP & Search Engine Optimization 15:06 – Amazon Web Services Conference 15:40 – AMP’s effect Google Analytic Reports 16:59 – Jokes 17:50 – Where Google is headed 22:42 – How SEOs can prepare for Google’s changes 24:06 – Transition to one platform and its effects on reporting 26:45 – Raven’s recommended URL shortener 29:15 – Raven’s New Site Auditor Tool 33:50 – Where to get Site Auditor 34:19 – Episode Key Takeaway 36:09 – Jokes – Trampoline Featured Guest Jon Henshaw – Co-Founder & CEO of Raven Products Website: raventools.com Facebook: facebook.com/raventools Twitter: twitter.com/henshaw Raven Tools Site Auditor   Resources Mazda Drive For Good Campaign Therapy Dogs for Vets Video | Mazda USA AMP Introducing the Google “SERP App” and Why You Should Care   Lion’s Share Marketing Podcast Learn More About Tyler & Kyle Music Intro Music – Colony House – Buy “2:20” on iTunes Outro Music – Skillet – Buy “Lions” on iTunes
