Eine IG stimmt die Interessen ihrer Mitglieder ab, bündelt sie und kann mit einer einheitlichen Stimme gegen aussen auftreten. Das hilft, um Sportvereinen auf Gemeindeebene mehr Relevanz zu verleihen und die Rahmenbedingungen für den Sport zu verbessern. Our welcome guest is Christopher Zehnder, M.A. He is the General Editor for the Catholic Textbook Project. A graduate of Thomas Aquinas College, he has worked as a graphic artist, journalist, school headmaster, and teacher of history, literature, theology, and mathematics. Mr. Zehnder has been affiliated with the Catholic Textbook Project since its founding in 2000. He has authored several of its textbooks, edited and contributed chapters to others, and made art selections for many of them. He is a novelist as well! A member of the American Solidarity Party, Christopher is on the town council of Hartford, Ohio. With his wife Katherine and their family, he has made his residence there since escaping Southern California.The following are among the questions we asked him:  How did you come to be an educator?Why does it matter how we define education?What led to your interest in history?You write historical fiction. Vic Verchereau welcomes Martha Zehnder Kaczynsk, who is the Vice President of the Bavarian Inn. The William (Tiny) Zehnder, Jr. family owns the Bavarian Inn of Frankenmuth. Tiny's family purchased Fischer's Hotel in 1950. Tiny left farming, and he and his young wife, Dorothy (a former waitress at Fischer's), became the managers of the new business. In his autobiographical book, Tiny wrote that “Dorothy and I started the Bavarian Inn with huge debt, and we built up the business with additions over 30 years.” Tiny encouraged many other Frankenmuth businesses to either build or remodel their buildings in the Bavarian style. Over time one of the Midwest's favorite destinations was born. With over 3 million visitors to the town the Zehnder family is busy keeping things new and exciting while keeping the old traditions honored! Todd Zehnder and Gary Frekking discuss the petition they are turning in to City Hall this afternoon, asking for a reverse referendum on the funding for the street projects in Northfield. The goal has been to keep the city from building bike lanes that they feel are intrusive, wasteful and dangerous. Should their petition be approved by review, the city will either put the funding for all street projects in Northfield this year to a referendum, or the city will not be allowed to issue bonds for street projects for 365 days, effectively killing the 2023 street work and putting 2024 into question.
