This Throwback Thursday revisits Episode 71, originally released on October 4th, 2021, featuring the wildly inventive Bill Manspeaker of Green Jellÿ. Best known as the mastermind behind the band's off-the-wall 1993 hit “Three Little Pigs,” Bill dives into the chaotic and hilarious origins of the song, from its absurd concept to its claymation music video that became a surprise MTV staple. With stories as outrageous as the track itself, this episode is a fascinating look into one of the most bizarre and unforgettable novelty hits of the ‘90s. Send us a textThe quiet after the last suitcase leaves can feel like a freefall—or a doorway. We lean into that threshold with Kate Battistelli, author of The After Party of the Empty Nest: Mom Isn't Your Only Name, to reframe the empty nest as an after-party —a time to honor the first act of mothering and step into a purposeful, hope-filled second act. Kate shares the heart behind her directive, “Mom is not your only name,” and why your next chapter isn't smaller—it's just different, and often deeper.Together, we explore the three “bird” archetypes that map this transition—the quick-pivot swallow, the grieving mourning dove, and the balanced robin—so you can name where you are and choose what's next. Kate's story illustrates how courage grows when we respond to quiet nudges with small, faithful steps. We discuss dreaming with the Father without shrinking your desires, finding an “empty next” that builds the kingdom, and utilizing the margins of your day to prepare for new work, study, service, or creative callings. If this episode encourages you, please follow, share it with a friend who's nearing the transition, and leave a quick review so more moms can find the courage to start their after party.Download the Intro and First Chapter of The After Party of the Empty Nest: Text AFTERPARTY to 44144.Visit Kate's website: Kate BattistelliLearn more about Kate's book: The After Party of the Empty NestSupport the showBegin Your Heartlifter's Journey: Visit and subscribe to Heartlift Central on Substack. This week, blessthefall vocalist Beau Bokan sits in to discuss the story behind the 2025 single “mallxcore.” The song is an in-your-face return to form for the band after a lengthy hiatus, which they used to reignite their passion for writing, recording, and performing. With a knowing wink toward the metal elite, blessthefall proudly named the song what some may have hurled as an insult in the past. With the new album Gallows in hand, a rejuvenated love for performing, and a humble appreciation for the fans that have stood by them, Beau's authenticity and humor shine in this episode. This week I speak with Kate Battistelli who is a bestselling author, speaker, and co-host of the Mom to Mom Podcast. She's written The After Party of the Empty Nest, The After Party Devotional Companion, The God Dare, and Growing Great Kids, and her words appear in the (In)courage Bible for Women, Guideposts, and more. Once a Broadway actress starring opposite Yul Brynner in The King and I, Kate traded the stage for her first big “God Dare”—a life of homeschooling, home business, and ministry. She lives in Franklin, TN, close to her daughter Francesca and seven beautiful grandchildren. We look at her childhood up to the present to find the beautiful thread of Jesus in her life.

In this episode, Chris and Chris dive into Brian Wilson's life leading up to the creation of The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds and take a closer look at the beautiful and complex “God Only Knows.” Originally released as the B-side to “Wouldn't It Be Nice,” the song wasn't a major hit at the time, but has gone on to become one of the most revered and timeless tracks in pop music history. With Brian Wilson's passing earlier this year, the conversation also reflects on his influence and the emotional weight this song continues to carry nearly six decades later. This week for Throwback Thursday, we're doing something a little bit different. Between the new album Somewhere To Land just being released and Chris Fafalios being the guest on the show this past Monday, it's a big week in the land of Punchline. To celebrate, we're dropping the first episode of the A Band Called Punchline podcast here in the Chris DeMakes A Podcast feed. This is a documentary style look at a hard-working punk band that can be enjoyed regardless of your relationship (or lack thereof) with Punchline. Here is the description of the episode… 1997 saw the passing the Princess Diana, the rise of Tiger Woods, and the emergence of El Niño. At the same time, in the small town of Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, it also saw the birth of the band Punchline. Started on a whim by three high school friends with a shared affinity for punk rock music, the band has forged on through several evolutions of the musical landscape. In this first episode, band members and friends reflect back on the formative years of the band. Subscribe to A Band Called Punchline wherever you get your podcasts. This week, the fishes dive deep into the theme of connection—why we need it, how we find it, and what happens when it's missing. From Kathy navigating her son's struggle to make friends at college, to Lynne coping with home repair chaos and reconnecting with old friends, to Nancy's whirlwind weekend of concerts, the Disney Emmy After Party, and a brush with Hacks star Julianne Nicholson, the sisters unpack the ways connection shows up in every season of life. They also tackle the pros and cons of friend apps, laugh about Cosmopolitan's “advice,” and remind us all that making time for relationships is as essential as taking care of our health. In What's For Dinner Lynne digs into a cookbook a friend brought back from Australia for an absolutely delish and steak sandwich with garlic créme. This is part 22 of "The After Party," our series at Fusion Christian Church on the book of Acts. Follow along as we explore what happened to the church after Jesus ascended to heaven. In our series finale, pastor and missionary to Peru, Nick Balcombe, teaches about the evangelist attitude all Christians should have.Mars Hill and the Unknown God.In Acts 17, Paul visits Mars Hill in Athens where he spots an altar to an "unknown god." Observing the Athenian desire to honor a god they don't know, Paul uses that very altar as a starting point for sharing about the one true God. By paying attention to the culture he was entering into, Paul was able to connect with the people he desired to reach and share the gospel in a more accessible way. By learning about the culture he was evangelizing, Paul demonstrated a deep love and care for the Athenians.Look, Listen, Love.Paul made himself aware of what was important to the Athenians and thereby showed his love for them. Christians should follow Paul's example in our own efforts to evangelize others. No matter who we are targeting with the gospel, Christians should try to understand who we are trying to reach. When we understand our audience, we can apply the gospel to their lives in an effective way and we can show them why it matters to them. The gospel is a message that everyone needs, and it is our job to help people see that need. By applying the three simple words: look, listen, and love, we become more effective evangelists.

Originally released as Episode 125 on October 17th, 2022, this Throwback Thursday episode features punk rock legend Stephen Egerton of Descendents and ALL. While he'd already cemented his place as an iconic guitarist by the mid-80s, it wasn't until 1996's Everything Sucks that he made his debut as a songwriter. Stephen takes listeners behind the scenes of the album's hard-hitting title track — the first full song he ever wrote — sharing how it came together during a pivotal moment for the band after nearly a decade away from the studio. From basement demos to Bill Stevenson's drum approach, this episode offers a unique look into the rebirth of one of punk's most beloved bands.
