Welcome to a fantastic Friday. I hope you are feeling good. I hope the week hasn't been too disappointing, her sad or tear evoking. I am with you. We are all here. But here we talk about cannabis stocks. Isn't much better, but with that being said, there's tons of news.Everybody's reporting this week. We've gone through a ton of performances so far this week. If you want to go back and check out our episodes, please do. We're going to do a few more today with a couple of interesting notes happening around the industry. This is Elliot lane, host of cannabis daily for Benzing and let's dive in Aurora cannabis ACB on the NASDAQ reports, their medical cannabis net revenue of 39.4 million is up 8% year over year. They raised their guidance for expense and cost savings from 60 to 80 million. Now 150 to 170 million by the first half of 2020. And Pablo's watch a analyst at Cantor Fitzgerald does claim that it does note that they are the second leading export or behind Tilray. I believe around 15 million in revenue from exporting there.I think Tilray gets 20. But they are still not profitable. It was still something to note Aurora. Made an interesting acquisition. I thought earlier this year or late last year of a kind of a niche company thrive cannabis. I really liked them. I liked the acquisition. So I think they are headed overall in the right direction there, but hopefully we start to see that in the next few.Pablo's won its releases a few other notes. MTR SSF on the OTC does have a challenging first quarter. He remains overweight due to the bullishness and excitement of New Jersey. As well as his partnerships and levers, he can pull with companies and acquisitions such as gage and Michigan and others. But he does not rate the stock as a. Pick at the moment, truly TC in and F his note, he remains overweight, but lowers the 12 month price target from 59 and 57 due to lower EBITDA estimates company does beat FactSet estimates and reaffirmed full year. Pablo's wanted, she thinks the top line of guidance for true leave may be a bit of a stretch that being said truly just did have their best, first quarter ever.So with that being said I don't know. I'm a wait and see type moment for TC and. More than 1200 stores in Ontario saw a data breach, including license numbers, names, and store info. It is considered a criminal matter. We'll keep you updated. As more comes to light there. A Pennsylvania court rules, medical cannabis is still a controlled substance. After judge Deborah Councilman rejected an appeal from a Pennsylvania medical patient who was convicted of driving under the influence. First of all y'all don't drive high. Let's just say that, but it also goes further as the question of who will control the marrow, who will control marijuana as a substance. Is it going to be the FDA or is it going to be a, the ATB? We'll see how this evolves and how the courts and Congress let it evolve. But overall I'm not a positive. No not a positive development when it comes to the Pennsylvania courts, but outside of that not totally surprising either organic gram OGI on the NASDAQ reports.Their second quarter of 2022 net revenue is 31.8 million with a top three market share. They do maintain the top market share. Flower. I ant this it H U F on the OTC reports, 42.8 million in revenue. It is down 10% sequentially and 17% year over year. The net loss number. It did improve rather largely though from 26 million to around 10 million refi. That is our EFI on the NASDAQ or otherwise known as Chicago Atlantic did upsize the revolving credit facility to 65. Millie and last but not least iconic brands I see in a F on the OTC and multi-state brand operator of sorts announces it is assigned a non-binding LOI to acquire D in a organics, a very well-known Califia fornia, cultivator, and manufacturer iconic has not made these types of moves.Up to date. But I think this is a very notable one. His DNA is very well-respected has some influence on Capitol hill. There, I think there's a lot to like about this one and we'll see obviously how it makes its way to the end zone there. But I'm excited for iconic on that one. I think that's a good move.If I'm going to announce my winners for the day, I see NAF has got to be up there with. I personally think ACB should probably be a winner today just given that it's on the NASDAQ and that it didn't have a horrible. The standards are low for LPs there. So we'll go with those two, but keep an eye on organic gram.I ant this I ant this was one of the few winners, a lot of times in 2021, but not so great of a first quarter there. Now this is Elliot lane with cannabis daily. I hope you all have an absolutely fantastic weekend. We'll do this again Monday. There is still much research and work to do in the breeding and genetics sector of the Canadian cannabis industry. With an interest to conduct its own research and development studies, and produce new cultivars, Aurora Cannabis opened its breeding facility, Aurora Coast. In late September, the division released its first new cultivars under Aurora Cannabis' consumer brand, San Rafael '71. The Aurora Coast division looks to continue providing new strains frequently, under its newly-announced genetics licensing business unit, Occo. Less than a year after stepping down as CEO of the 2nd largest cannabis company in the WORLD, the Canadian cannabis giant he co-founded called Aurora Cannabis, chief executive Terry Booth returned to the marijuana industry with gusto to head up a U.S.-based cannabis investment firm AUDACIOUS. We got to sit down with Terry in Las Vegas and learn about his vision for U.S. Cannabis, his plans to win the space by partnering with unique and high-quality American brands, and his frustration that some of the folks who built the cannabis industry in the US are still sitting in jail cells while the industry rages on. Terry Booth is as real as they get, so it's no surprise that he opens up to us. What was so surprising was that he was SO FKN COOL, humble, and HILARIOUS. Load a bowl and have a notepad handy, Terry drops some gems that you won't want to forget, especially if you're building your cannabis brand in America. It is Wednesday. It is another hump day here. Welcome to cannabis daily. This is Elliot lane from Ben Zynga as always thanks to Aaron Thomas and our friends for helping. Happen. We've got a lot to cover today from earlier this week, as well as news that is coming overnight. So let's jump into the cannabis space here a little earlier this week, shots a heritage, Candace.I did not mention this, but H R T F is now supplying Australian companies with medical cannabis products. They have truly, uh, just dove in the past few months, uh, and through expansion and getting their name out there, uh, working in new partnerships, expanding. I'm really liking what I'm seeing out of her.Uh, Corona a couple news items this week. Uh, they are K E R N on the NASDAQ, their current investors reinvested $20 million via convertible debt financing into the company. Uh, and, and they completed the acquisition of 365 cannabis, which I believe was about 17 million. Uh, so two. Really nice bits of news for Corona there this week.Uh, I'd love to see their stock trend up a little bit because I think they've earned it to be quite honest with you guys. I think Jessica does a pretty fantastic job over there. Uh, interesting bit of news that isn't necessarily directly related to a stock. The former med men. Exactly. Uh, filed a suit against their new work company.I should say coastal holdings, there are no longer directly associated, but they say they have a right to approve the sale or. To the parent company, they filed a lawsuit with their company or former company, coastal holdings. I gotta tell you, these guys are just not really ever in the news for the right reasons.Uh, interesting bit of news there though. Cantor Fitzgerald releases two reports. Jewishy price target was downgraded to $4 from $4 and 80 cents. Uh, however Pablo remained neutral on them. The Aurora price targets. Upgraded that's NASDAQ listed ACB to $9 and 50 cents Canadian from $8 and 30 cents Canadian due to increased export projections, Pablo expecting roughly 9 million in exports to Israel in the December quarter, and also expects Aurora to be a key player in Germany, Poland, and France, honestly, y'all this is the first bit of good news for ACB.I have. In some time. Uh, so, you know, Pablo. Not necessarily giving up hope, uh, on their numbers, on their projections. Uh, I think, I think this is interesting for more shareholders and hopefully can, can battle some of that dilution we've seen recently urban grow their stock is Eugene borrow on the national.Uh, is up their stock is up on the announcement of the launch of its financial services division. The end game here being to provide its clients cap ex leasing solutions. And this is happening with a partnership with X S financial fire and flower. That is F F L w F on the OTC advances, their partnership with circle caves, parent company to open new fire and flower.Dispensary's adjacent. To existing circle K stores in Canada. The first of these will be an Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. This is I think, a massive potential here for fire and flower, a circle K obviously being a pretty regular store in the states as well. So, uh, the idea here being to extend this into the U S and when the opportunity arises.Probably after federal legalization plays out a nice little article on benzinga.com/cannabis yesterday, grow generation that's G RWG once, uh, this year, and maybe still considered by some, to be the cannabis. Has a better five-year return then get this game. Stop AMC and Blackberry. So GRW G better five-year return the game, stop and Blackberry head to benzinga.com/cannabis for that full article in diva, that's in D V a F borrows, an additional eight and a half million from sundial, S N D L sun stream.Bancorp, as I've said before I applaud sundial and what they've done, uh investment-wise and putting their. Uh, in back into the space, uh, and helping and really taking advantage of that mean stock status, uh, to grow different aspects of their business. I love this partnership. Uh, am I, once again, applaud it.Hexo hex partnership with Molson. Uh, for their very Vel CBD beverage is now expanding to 17 states. Uh, once again, Hexo, you know, we've seen some cool news sustainability wise, uh, but not really, um, visible for all the right reasons this year, since, uh, especially since their acquisition. Um, I believe it was, um, um, xenopus it was their acquisition of cannabis, but, uh, this is a great bit of news for them.A couple more here. Y'all high tide hit. I listed on the NASDAQ has been added to the bud X ETF on the nicey for growth forms for a pharma and launches global clinical trials utilizing. Uh, artificial intelligence and machine learning to help develop drugs from the cannabis plant that interact with certain gene targets responsible for specific diseases and conditions, just incredibly broad.Nobody knows what that means other than they are enacting a biotech arm. Uh, but I'm all for R and D whenever we can get it. So let's see how this, um, this grows and evolves there. Uh, last bit of news stock wise that I'll announce today. buys cannabis and hemp extract. Uh, equipment companies for 50 million that is cascade and precision extraction solutions, both in incredible companies. And precision is a powerhouse. They've, they've been a private powerhouse for a long time, and , in my opinion is making an incredible acquisition here. Uh, again, that's NASDAQ listed. HGF why, so y'all a ton of news today, uh, covering some from earlier this week, but a lot from, uh, over in the night as well.Uh, once again, this is Elliot lane with cannabis daily. Thanks again to Erin Thomas y'all check out B Z cannabis.com. That's BZ cannabis.com. Our event is next Thursday and Friday. Dr Greg Baute, Senior Director of Breeding and Genetics at Aurora Cannabis, explores the maturing cannabis market and describes why boots-on-the-ground field observations are critical for success. In this episode of the Plant Breeding Stories podcast, Greg shares how his educational background and experiences in bioinformatics and practical fieldwork laid a strong foundation for his career, which began in programs breeding sunflowers and tomatoes. We learn about some of the challenges early cannabis breeders faced, including a massive germplasm characterization effort. Greg describes some of the main breeding objectives for improving cannabis varieties, including incorporating consumer-facing traits and the challenges of working with subjective preferences. He explains why it's possible to commercialize a new cannabis variety much faster than other cultivated crops and the complexity of regulatory framework that has to be navigated. I hope you're having a stellar week trading. I know it's been a little bit in the red so far, but we still have some interesting news on the cannabis side for you guys to pay attention to some interesting stock picks and news. So let's jump in lots happening, especially with the two top stories.Uh, the U S house is the top of the day approving the safe act for the fifth time in the national defense act previously shot down three times by Mitch McConnell and once by Chuck Schumer. Many holding out hope for this, but most thinking Schumer will take it out for a second time. And for a fifth time, total, uh, we are hoping that doesn't happen. As many people do not want to dive too far into the 1700 page act, uh, that is approved annually. Uh, you know, a large shout out to representative. I believe Perlmutter. Uh, he has been the hero behind this, so we'll keep an eye on that. And this. Um, but overall I'm 50 50 on whether this actually gets. The next biggest story to keep an eye on, not a lot of coverage on this yet.A few, uh, have written about this, but keep an eye on ACB. Aurora cannabis apparently had mass layoffs yesterday, uh, perhaps setting themselves up for an acquisition, perhaps defaults. We're not quite sure yet. Overall ACB is not trending positively at the moment unless they come out with acquisition news.Uh, and it's kind of a case where they put a sign out and say, please take me. Uh, at this point they've not had a very positive 20, 21 they're trending down compared to all of their Canadian brethren. Um, I do hope ACB gets it together, but their management has been relatively slow to act this year. So overall. It doesn't look to be a good situation. Uh, but I hold out hope for ACB something to keep an eye on as news from. That let's see the house rules committee did deny two items, uh, in the, uh, approach for, for the safe act here. Uh, they denied expansive research on benefits of psychedelics for active duty military members. And they also denied to protect veterans from being denied home loans because they work in the cannabis industry. Long way to go. Y'all um, last but not least on the legislation side, Amazon will reinstate employees who were previously punished for positive cannabis tests. And then on the other side of that coin, they also claimed in a letter to senators that they have no views on marijuana regulations, legislation, legalization, uh, it's almost as if they don't really care, it's just positive sentiment they're looking for.But that being said, uh, the action they're taking for their former employees, uh, who were previously punished for cannabis use. Is definitely a step in the right direction and something, everybody should follow. One of my favorite executives in the space at body and mind. His name is Michael Mills, B M M J as their ticker, inter the Michigan market with a dispensary and a grow facility. It's been a big 20, 21 for them, for Mike and the body and mind team over there. They moved very slowly across 20 18, 19 and 20. And they've really picked up the pace this year. And, uh, our, one of the share price. Uh, leaders in terms of, uh, positive, uh, trends in the cannabis space this year, I think in the past three months, the rep around 40%.So keep an eye on BMJ and underrated MSO in one that's 100% on the rise with a very interesting footprint. Bev can have stock plunged after their embark health acquisition. That's BV in NF. I personally liked the nanotechnology addition enhancing their beverage portfolio. Uh, that is what they. Uh, and that technology is very, very vital, uh, to mimicking the effects of alcohol, uh, for THC beverages. For those that can't drink alcohol, uh, this will provide a very similar, um, incremental, uh, high, if you will. Um, so the nanotechnology addition, I like, but I feel the market did not like the terms of the acquisition. So, uh, ideally they can prove out that acquisition over time. Uh, for BB and N F last but not least sundial financing arm, sun stream bank Corp helps.Sky mint, complete acquisition of three 15 cannabis. Uh, they were also joined by Meredith capital holdings in this, I believe it was around a $78 million acquisition. Uh, this is a big acquisition for Skynet, who is one of the private leaders in Michigan market. The third largest cannabis market in the UK.Um, but I think the big news here for me is the S and D L sensory bank Corp. I have been very high on this investment arm for them taking in and diva taking in several other incredibly smart investment opportunities. Uh, I'm bullish on sundial right now. “Take care of the little things and the big things will take care of themselves. I've never forgotten those wise words a mentor once shared.” – Norma Beauchamp I recently sat down with a wonderful and inspiring human being, one of those people who has seemingly overcome every hurdle life has thrown her way. And with a smile to boot! That person is today's guest - former president and CEO of Cystic Fibrosis Canada, Norma Beauchamp. Norma currently serves on the boards of Extendicare, Dialogue, Aurora Cannabis, The Ontario Caregiver Organization, ALS Canada, and is a Council Member of the National Research Council of Canada. She also serves as a regional ambassador for Women Get On Board. In today's episode, Norma shares her hard-earned wisdom and some wonderful lessons that many of us need to hear right now. From building an impressive corporate career and raising a family, to facing down cancer twice - and winning. You'll learn how to: -Avoid making problems worse by dealing with them faster -Leverage a positive attitude when the chips are down -Always stay in control by owning your response to challenges -And much more! Depth of Experience This was during the Sanofi time: I moved every two to three years into different roles. I moved into Training and Development, and into Marketing, Business Development, to being the Director of Sales, and then running the Business Unit. And I think the message here is to be open to learning. Learn as much as you can. And even if they're lateral moves, the thing is it gives you much more breadth and prepares you for much more opportunities as your career progresses. On Being Adaptable, Especially in the Midst of COVID Learning is key but being adaptable is more valuable. Look at what we're living through right now with COVID-19. We have to be agile, we have to be adaptable; we need to pivot and we need to change. So many industries have pivoted this year and the speed of change has been incredible. So learning and growing brings a lot of value to any person who is developing their career forward and has high aspirations for themselves. How to Deal With Roadblocks In Your Career I have lived in a time when roads were blocked for me because of my gender, and I had to figure out how to navigate my path forward. And this is my advice for people who are currently facing roadblocks in their career path: you just have to be firm about knowing where you want to go and know that there are other ways to get there. Be creative in trying to go around that roadblock. On today's episode, we interview Ronan Levy, the Founder & Executive Chairman of Field Trip Psychedelics. Field Trip Health, the first of the verticals Ronan is involved in, is a pioneer in the psychedelic therapy space, working to make psychedelic therapies more effective, safe, and accessible to all. Prior to Field Trip Health, Ronan worked to expand access to therapeutic medical cannabis, ultimately driving a multi-million dollar exit that defined the clinic vertical. We explore Ronan's background in law, entrepreneurship, and cannabis before reaching forward into the future of both Field Trip and the broader psychedelic industry. Time Stamps: 04:00: Ronan's background (i.e., corporate lawyer and entrepreneur turned medical cannabis pioneer ‘bringing darkness to light' and securing an 8-figure exit) 24:40: Why did he leave his senior leadership role at Aurora Cannabis post-acquisition? 29:20: What sparked his interest in psychedelics as an industry? 34:20: What is Field Trip Psychedelics and how did it come to be? 40:17: Why are Field Trip Health's clinics starting with Ketamine as their first therapeutic agent and how does it compare to ‘traditional psychedelics'? 46:00: How Field Trip's offering will evolve and why they're so focused on engendering the trust of the medical community. 51:05: Deep-dive into Ronan's point of view on differences in jurisdiction and geography prioritization as it pertains to strategy. 56:00: Considerations when building and scaling psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy clinics (in Toronto and New York). 59:10: An overview of Field Trip's multi-disciplinary team, gaps in the talent market, and the ensuing implications. 1:05:50: COVID-19's impact on their product roadmap 1:07:17: Field Trip's funding to date (~$12M CAD), the impact of cannabis industry turbulence, and psychedelic industry financing more broadly. 1:16:00: A discussion about the similarities, differences, and false similarities between the cannabis and psychedelic industries. 1:24:45: How Ronan recommends getting up to speed on the psychedelic industry. 1:29:07: The self-perpetuating nature of psychedelics, notions of moral authority, and why the psychedelic pandora's box is now open (in more countries than one) 1:39:30: What Ronan's excited about, why he wants to change the world, and how Field Trip is positioned to do so :)
Join Investing.com senior analysts Jesse Cohen and Clement Thibault as they review the most significant events that impacted financial markets last week and look ahead to what are likely to be the top business and financial stories in the week ahead. The format is simple: the two will spend three minutes talking about each topic; a bell then sounds once time is up, whereupon they'll move on to the next topic. This week's episode starts with: thoughts on yet another action-packed week on Wall Street, where U.S. stocks enjoyed their second straight weekly gain amid easing trade tension between the U.S. and China. Next up: The two weighed in on the troubles facing the potential WeWork IPO, which last week saw its valuation cut to as low as $20 billion from $47 billion due to softer than expected demand. Finally, the two talk about the passive investment movement and whether recent talk that it is a bubble is justified. Turning their attention to the week ahead, the duo provided their opinions and thoughts on how markets are likely to perform in the coming days and whether we're setting up for more record highs on Wall Street. The two also touched on what's in store on the data front, with the latest reports on U.S. retail sales and consumer price inflation both on the agenda in the days ahead, as well as the European Central Bank's policy meeting. Finally, the two also focused on Apple's product launch event, at which the tech giant is slated to unveil its next generation of iPhones. To close out the episode, they each provided their stock of the week: Zscaler for Jesse and Aurora Cannabis for Clement.
