Fr. Mike explains sins of omission, and how these are some of the biggest deciding factors of who goes to heaven and who goes to hell: whether or not we did good works God called us to. He also reminds us that not all of the New Testament parables are universally relevant, recalling the parable of the talents and the parable of the wise and foolish maidens. Each of us is called to holiness. As Fr. Mike puts it, we're all called to the “heights of holiness.” No matter our station in life, we're meant for ever greater union with Christ, devoting ourselves to the love of God and neighbor. The path of holiness also entails the Cross, self-denial, and the sacrifice that ultimately leads to peace. And as Fr. Mike reminds us, even if we stumble or fail, we know that we can, time after time, “begin again.” Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 2012-2016. This gift of grace invites us to respond to his promptings and invitations freely. Finally, God offers “all the graces needed to attain eternal life.” Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 2017-2029. Today's conversation on Back Porch Theology is one of the best we've had in a while because it's basically a dissertation on why play and celebration should be a part of every Christ-follower's spiritual formation plan! While there's no single verse proving that our Savior laughed and played during His earthly life and ministry, there are a plethora of passages that imply it like the literary. The Bible proves over and over again that Christoformity – being shaped like Jesus – isn't always supposed to be serious and somber. Being playful can be every bit as spiritual as being prayerful. Today's going to be a fun day on the porch y'all, so you might want to bring a caffeinated drink, a yummy snack, and your Bible. And try to talk one of your small group friends who thinks spiritual maturity and grumpiness are congruent into hanging out with us too, because we're going to expose that myth as being biblically indefensible! Thanks for carving the time out of your day to be with us – we love getting to spend these moments on the porch with you. Find out more from Hope For The Heart Here.

What happens when faith, politics, and cultural divides collide? In this thought-provoking conversation, Mike Erre and Tim Stafford explore Charlie Kirk as a person, a symbol, and a cultural marker. Is he a champion for Christian values or a polarizing figure in today's culture wars? This episode dives into the complexities of navigating cultural challenges, the role of the church in society, and the nuanced intersections of faith and politics.  The hosts critically examine Turning Point USA's mission, its connections to Christianity, and the implications of blending biblical principles with political ideologies. They challenge the idea of "Christian nationalism" and question whether the gospel is being redefined in service of cultural power. Themes of cruciformity, love for neighbors and enemies, and the countercultural way of Jesus are central to this discussion. Paul emphasizes the importance of living in a way that reflects their calling, especially regarding purity, warning them to avoid sexual immorality and to honor God with their bodies. He encourages them to love one another even more and to lead peaceful, hardworking lives so that their daily behavior will earn the respect of outsiders. He then offers comfort about those who have died, assuring the Thessalonians that believers who have fallen asleep in Christ will be raised when Jesus returns. Paul reminds them to grieve with hope, for when Christ comes again, all believers—both living and dead—will be gathered to Him forever. This is a tremendous source of comfort.  We must ask ourselves if we are truly growing in holiness and love. We cannot be content with remaining where we are spiritually; we are called to move forward, striving to honor God in every part of our lives. We must fight against temptation and refuse to let the world draw us into sexual immorality and greed. Our love for others must extend beyond comfort, reaching into genuine acts of service, kindness, and self-sacrifice. We are also called to live quietly, work with purpose, and build respect through our daily choices. As we wait for Christ's return, we must live intentionally, so that our faith and eternal hope are not just beliefs, but what we openly display to the world. Worthy Lord, thank You for calling us to live lives that are pleasing to You. Help us to walk in holiness, guarding our hearts and bodies from sin and honoring You in our daily choices. Teach us to love one another more deeply, showing kindness, patience, and forgiveness. Strengthen us to live quietly, work faithfully, and reflect Your goodness in all we do. When we grieve, remind us of our hope in Jesus' return and the promise of eternal life with You. Shape our lives to be a witness to the world and keep our hearts longing for Christ's coming. Thought Questions: What does it mean to possess your vessel, your body, with honor? Why is it essential to flee immorality and pursue purity in all things? Is a life well-lived if someone loves others, serves Jesus, works hard, and pursues a quiet life? Why do people often seek so much more? Why do Christians not grieve as the world does when faithful family or friends die? Will you also give this kind of peace to your loved ones?

She and her husband, Nick, planted Bright City Church in Charleston, South Carolina, where they live with their four children.   Show Summary: It can be easy to struggle with body image, feeling like we're not enough, or feeling exhausted by our day-to-day life. Jess Connolly wants to recharge you and share how to shake off the shame! Join hosts Elisa Morgan and Eryn Eddy Adkins as they learn how to break free from shame during this God Hears Her conversation.  Notes and Quotes:  “I had this really strong understanding early on that the Gospel is the best thing about me. That people that had tidier lives still needed God, that the messy parts of my life did not disqualify me from His love, from ministry, from calling, from any of those things.” —Jess Connolly  “I'm thankful for the victory and the vision that pain afforded me.” —Jess Connolly  “If John says, ‘if the Son has set you free, you are free indeed,' how much of that do I get to experience here on earth? How much of that do I get to experience as it pertains to my body?” —Jess Connolly  “If You created our bodies as good, do we spend the rest of our lives trying to make them good, or can we spend the rest of our lives agreeing that they're good? If so, what would that look like? What would it look like to stop trying to make my body good and instead just come into alignment with the truth that it already is? That's what breaking body shame is about for me.” —Jess Connolly  “For many of us, we don't know where we end and where He begins. We don't know what we're responsible for and what He's responsible for. We've somehow bought this lie that we graduate from needing Him—but I don't want to get over that. I still want to be a girl that acknowledges that I need God.” —Jess Connolly   Verses:  2 Corinthians 12:9  John 20:11-18 – Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene  Luke 8:2 – Jesus healing Mary Magdalene   Related Episodes: GHH Ep 146 – Reading Truth with Amanda Williams: https://godhearsher.org/podcast/reading-truth/  Links:  Jess Connolly's Website: https://www.jessconnolly.com/ God Hears Her website: https://go.odb.org/ghh191  Subscribe to the God Hears Her YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@GodHearsHerODBM Share Your Story:  https://godhearsher.org/share-your-story/

Jonah, the reluctant prophet, was called to prophesy against the pagan capital of the world, Nineveh. He attempted to shun the assignment until God explained it to him a little more clearly! His message to Nineveh:40 days and you get yours! The greatest miracle in the book of Jonah was Nineveh's repentance, within the allotted 40 days, on speculation! They reasoned that maybe, if they repented, God might change His mind. They did. And He did. A century later, Nahum was sent to ask them to repent and Nineveh failed. Judgment resulted. Obadiah prophesied against Israel's enemies. His book provides insights into the 2nd Coming of Jesus Christ and why some countries will apparently escape the rule of the Antichrist. These are three small books of the Bible that contribute a critical perspective for all of us. This study contains 8 hours of verse by verse teachings. Copyright © 10-01-2010

However, his often leaves congregants unable to deal with what is happening now and unaware of how the Bible relates to current events.

Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible! On this September 22nd episode, we mark day 265 of our journey through Scripture, with just 100 days left in the year. Today, Hunter guides us through powerful passages from Daniel 9 and 10, Psalm 123, and Luke 5. We reflect on Daniel's heartfelt prayers, angelic encounters, and the overwhelming weight of prophetic visions—reminding us of the strength we find in God's presence and touch. In Luke's Gospel, we witness the calling of the disciples, miraculous healings, and Jesus' radical message of forgiveness and new life. Join us as we meditate on God's unfailing love, receive encouragement for our challenges ahead, and center our lives on Christ's peace and mercy. Whether you're feeling strong or in need of a “second touch,” today's episode invites you to open your heart and receive the hope and strength God freely offers. TODAY'S DEVOTION: He gives us a second touch. Daniel was overwhelmed by what he saw—by the vision God gave and by the sheer enormity of what was behind and what was coming ahead. The weight of the call, the ruins of the past, the challenges of the present—all of it left Daniel saying, "My strength is gone. I can hardly breathe." Have you ever felt that way? Staring ahead at what seems impossible, or looking back at the devastation behind, and feeling paralyzed, frightened, unable to move or even catch your breath? If you've ever been there, you are not alone. Daniel was there too. But here's the miracle: God touched Daniel again. The scripture tells us, “Then the one who looked like a man touched me again, and I felt my strength returning. ‘Don't be afraid,' he said, ‘for you are very precious to God. Please be encouraged! Be strong!'” And as Daniel listened to those words, his strength came back and he was ready to listen—ready to go on. That second touch—the reassurance, the presence, the love of God—is what we all desperately need. God's love for Daniel, spoken in comfort and shown through his touch, is the same love he offers to us today. When the road ahead is daunting or when the shame of our past weighs us down, God comes near, offering not just guidance but the very presence and strength we cannot conjure up ourselves. Do you need a second touch from God? Open your hands, even now. Whisper, “Yes, Lord. Thank You.” Let His love, His touch, restore you. His word to Daniel is His word to you: Don't be afraid. You are precious to God. That's a prayer I have for my own soul. It's a prayer I have for my family—for my wife and my daughters and my son. And it's a prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

Read Online“Take care, then, how you hear. To anyone who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he seems to have will be taken away.” Luke 8:18Do you have much? Or little? According to Jesus' words, if you have much, then you will receive much more; but if you have little, then you will lose even what you have. Does this seem fair?Of course, our Lord is not speaking in worldly terms. He's not saying that if you have much money, then you will gain more, or if you are poor, then you will become poorer. Instead, Jesus is speaking about the grace that comes from understanding His holy Word. Notice that the passage above begins by saying, “Take care, then, how you hear.”To “hear” the Word of God implies that you truly receive what Jesus teaches. Hearing is not just hearing the words spoken with your ears. One early Church Father, Saint Bede, explains that truly hearing the Word of God with our minds leads us to love that Word, and loving the Word leads to understanding. This is not accomplished by an intellectual exercise alone, as if our natural gifts are the primary means by which we comprehend all that Jesus teaches. Rather, it comes through spiritual insight gained by the supernatural gift of the Spirit Who teaches us all things. If you want “more” understanding of the mysteries of God, then commit yourself to engaging the holy Scriptures with your mind. Read the Scriptures, ponder them and pray with them. It's easy to forget that the Word of God is a Living Word. This means that when we prayerfully immerse ourselves in the Scriptures, we are prayerfully encountering God Himself. God is alive in His holy Word. We meet Him, personally, and this happens only by a special grace that we must be open to receive. The beautiful aspect of this teaching of Jesus is that the more we understand His Word by this grace, the more we will immerse ourselves in it, and it will continue to grow within us. If, however, we devote little time to engaging the Word of God in prayer, we will begin to “forget,” so to speak, the spiritual depths of the wisdom of God. We will lose the little understanding we have and when this happens, we will be prone to engaging and accepting the many confusions and deceptions alive in our world.Reflect, today, upon your practice of prayerfully meditating upon the Scriptures. If this is not your current practice, resolve to make it so. Perhaps start with one of the Gospels and commit yourself to prayerfully reading it little by little every day. The goal is not to get through the books of the Bible. The goal is to enter into each book. Every chapter and every line provides us with a depth of spiritual insight and understanding just waiting to be given and received. Commit yourself to this holy practice, and you will be amazed at the spiritual riches our Lord bestows upon you.Living Word of God, my Lord and my King, I thank You for the way in which You come to me and all Your children through Your written Word. Fill me with a love for that Word so that I will daily engage my mind in the deep truths revealed within it. May I meet You, dear Lord, and grow in an understanding of Who You are and what You wish to reveal to me.      We can all struggle to trust God in moments of crisis. We wonder…Where did He go? Why has He allowed this? When will He intervene? In a boat on the waves, the disciples (Peter in particular) undergo a trust trial where despite some terrifying circumstances, Jesus asks them to trust Him. Will they? What principles will they draw on? What can we learn from their trust trial for the trust trials we will face? WAYS TO LISTEN & SUBSCRIBE:

TODAY'S EPISODE: TODAY'S DEVOTION: TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity.
