FOX Sports' lead College Football analyst Joel Klatt reacts to the unbelievable game in Tuscaloosa as Alabama edged Georgia in the game of the season so far. He talks about why games like that are so special for the sport and breaks down the madness that went down in Bryant-Denny before stating which team he has more confidence in moving forward for the rest of the year. Klatt discusses Coach Prime and Colorado's blowout win at UCF and why the Big 12 is now fully up for grabs. He dives into the Big Ten action by being thoroughly impressed by Penn State in their win over Illinois. He also breaks down what he is seeing from the Michigan team that he saw first-hand on Saturday and discusses their issues and what their outlook is for the rest of the season. He then takes a minute to marvel at the brilliance of Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith and reveals why he would be his first pick of any Wide Receiver in College Football already. He concludes the episode by weighing in on the controversial call on the Hail Mary at the end of Miami-Virginia Tech before putting out a warning: Clemson is back and should be considered a favorite in the ACC. Hi there, boys and girls. It's Week 10 of the college football season, Carla and Crappy are both in some semblance of Halloween attire … and Brian Ferentz no longer has a job. But before we get into that, we take an almost-live look at the first College Football Playoff rankings — hint: They don't mean much yet — before reviewing how absolutely wrong we were about just about everything last Saturday, particularly the dud that was that 3:30 window. But hey, congrats to Kansas for the most Kansas-y upset win possible! Crappy was also disappointed by Cornell's loss (even though starting RB Drew Powell had a great individual performance), yet our Big Red Bears still find themselves in a five-way tie in the hunt for a potential Ivy League title. Cornell travels to Penn this weekend (1 ET, ESPN+).  AJ, meanwhile, has lots of interesting games on his #GroupOfFiveAfterDark slate this weekend, and tells us all about them. Then … back to the Ferentz thing. In honor of one of the most futile offenses that has ever taken the field — the AJ Fun Index for Iowa at Northwestern (3:30 ET, Peacock) is 30.5 points — Carla and Crappy offer up a bunch of games with big scoring potential this weekend, including what might possibly be the highest Fun Index we've ever had on the show. Ready to watch long games with lots of points? Here we go. No. 23 Kansas State at No. 7 Texas (Big Nude, FOX): Be careful, Texas. Be very, very careful. The Powercats are back and hitting their stride just at the right time. No. 9 Oklahoma at Oklahoma State (3:30 ET, ABC): Emotions will be high in this final Bedlam … as will the points machine. Because the Pokes don't play defense. At all.  No. 12 Missouri at No. 2 Georgia (3:30 ET, CBS): OK, this one might not have the offensive firepower as some of the others on this list, but we will find out if Mizzou is for real. No. 5 Washington at No. 20 USC (7:30 ET, ABC): Peep that Fun Index, friends. Yep. 76! And we're still tempted to take the over. Settle in for this one. It's going to be a long game. No. 14 LSU at No. 8 Alabama (7:45 ET, CBS): Can Bama lose two games at Bryant Denny this year? It's certainly possible here. No. 19 UCLA at Arizona (10:30 ET, FS1): Yep, we have to stay up late again this week. Because Arizona is the spoiler team of the Pac-12 this season.  Carla offers honorable mentions to Jacksonville State at South Carolina (Noon ET, ESPNU) in the Battle of the Gamecocks and MTSU at New Mexico St. (6 ET, ESPN+) as her beloved Blue Raiders must win out to go bowling. Crappy's solely focused this week on No. 1 Ohio State at Rutgers (Noon ET, CBS) as his Ohio Bobcats are on a bye. So, there you have it. If you like offense, you're going to like this weekend … unless you're Brian Ferentz, that is. Enjoy the football and the points, yinz. We'll see you back here again next week.

It was a physical rockfight throughout, and Alabama may have found another pitch in their offensive repertoire. The defense remains wonderful as well. After a tough couple of road games, Alabama gets to return to the friendly confines of Bryant-Denny for homecoming against the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Hogs are 2-4, and worse than their record indicates, so there should be some great growth opportunities as the Tide continue to evolve toward a finish product. On this special fall episode, the guys start by giving out some birthday shout-outs.  Afterwards, Brendan discusses working a concession stand at Bryant-Denny stadium for a fundraiser for Ellie's soccer team.  Brendan's first mistake was being positive about a great parking space he found first thing that morning.  Just downhill from there.  The concession stand did not feature many items, there was cold nacho cheese and pretzels, and the health department showed up.  Later, the guys discuss drug commercials, the smiling actors, and the terrible side effects drugs have.  Finally, Brad brings up the colon broom.Listen, enjoy, and spread the word.  As always, thanks for listening to Idiot Sticks.  We hope you enjoy.

Football is back. Rejoice! The appetizer weekend was scrumptious, but it is time for the main course. Alabama takes to the field next Saturday against the Utah State Aggies to start the 2022 campaign. They already played one game against UConn so the guys have some insight into expectations as Utah State comes to Bryant-Denny. Unfortunately, given some of the struggles they had, it should be a long day for the Aggies next Saturday. That isn't all of the action we discuss on this episode. Scott Frost continues to prove he has the intelligence of a cabbage while coughing up a lead except this time, it happened on foreign soil. We discuss all of that and more on this episode of BAMSRadio so join Drew, Fish and Thomas for another hour of talk, and laughter to get prepared for the start of the season.

Alabama Football Podcast - College Football Talk dedicated to the University of Alabama Crimson Tide

2020 Alabama vs Georgia Alabama Football Podcast breaks down the Tides’ smashing success against its very own funhouse mirror image, the Georgia Bulldogs. In this episode Alabama Football Podcast breaks down the Tide’s reversion to the mean with guests Kirby Smart and his cuddly lapdogs. Styles Make Fights As predicted, Alabama rose to the occasion and did work against Georgia. Yes, some of the improved effort was motivation for the big game, but credit is also due the matchup itself. Georgia’s 2020 mystique is (was?), rooted in its defense. While praiseworthy, the defense was a diversion, a distraction from an offense sporting a rebuilt offensive line and under performing offensive stars, or 5 stars to be more specific. Oh, and let’s not forget a former walk on QB, who, while sporting the endearing backstory and clever nickname, lacked the requisite gravitas to pilot a top shelf program through the true rigors of an SEC schedule. Alabama’s Made for TV All Stars If Georgia’s offense was conducting Star Search competitions on an Athens hillside, Alabama’s was completing an AGT-styled exhibition on the field in Bryant Denny, mystifying the Bulldog defense in the process. Mac passed for 400, Najee ran for 150, and both Smitty and Waddle compiled 160 receiving. It was as if godmother Oprah delivered the pregame speech – you get a career day, and you get a career day, and you get a career day. . Habits and Goals Progress with Small Steps Even the previously traumatized Alabama Defense had its Stuart Smally moments in the first half with an interception, forced punts, and a couple near misses on Georgia scoring plays. In the second half the confidence soared to full blown Tony Robbins levels as the Tide shut out the increasingly weary and defeated dogs. Mini Game balls Anyone can read a headline, but which players contributed in more subtle ways to the Tide’s fortune? Next Up The Tide travels to Knoxville for a little leaf peeping in the mountains and time permitting may squeeze in an afternoon frolic with the Volunteers in the area. A good time is predicted for the visitors from Title Town.

As a 24 1/2 point Iron Bowl underdog, the 2018 Auburn Tigers certainly have the table set for what would indisputably be college football’s most stunning upset of the year, should they find a way to navigate the admittedly narrow path to victory in Bryant-Denny stadium this Saturday. Join Coach John Ray and Doug Dean … Continue reading Auburn Football All-Access Podcast, Episode 185, November 22, 2018 →

On the 50th episode of the SDS Podcast, JC and Connor talk about a surprisingly eventful week 7 in the SEC. After looking dead in the water, suddenly LSU is good and Coach O is a tactical mastermind...at least for now. The Bayou Bengals made the key adjustments against their orange counterparts on Saturday, but what does this mean for the West? Speaking of coaching makeovers, Kevin Sumlin looked to be a dead man walking after the Aggies' historic collapse in Week 1, but their only loss has come to Alabama since. Where does A&M fit into the SEC standings? Some coaches have been unable to save their sinking ships, however. Butch Jones heads into Bryant–Denny this weekend as a historic underdog. Is there any hope left that he can save face, and his job?

That was fun, wasn't it? A 59-0 shellacking of the Vanderbilt Commodores, and the Alabama Crimson Tide is back to earning all of the accolades. Everything worked last Saturday, and the BAMS crew isn't complaining. With Vanderbilt now squarely in the rearview, we turn to the Ole Miss Rebels and their date with the Tide in Bryant Denny. Shea Patterson has been putting up video game numbers during the first month of the season, but your crew of Drew DeArmond, William "Redfish" Barger and Thomas Watts remain unconvinced that such shenanigans will continue for much longer.

Alabama Football Podcast - College Football Talk dedicated to the University of Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama Football Podcast Breaks Down the 2017 Alabama Recruiting Class   In this episode Tom and Dave from the Alabama Football Podcast breakdown the Tide’s haul on National Signing Day 2017.   The Improbability of it All Trees do not grow to the sky. There is a way about things, a natural order, a limit. That is unless the sapling in question was planted in Tuscaloosa a decade ago by master arborist Nick Saban. Only a few short years ago Alabama set a record for pulling in the second and then the third consecutive top ranked recruiting class. When Saban started to showcase his recruiting skills a surprisingly few programs could boast three consecutive top 10 classes. Now Saban is just showing off, running laps around the recruiting competition with his 7th consecutive top ranked class. Oh, and according to one service, his highest ranked class while patrolling the sidelines in Bryant-Denny. Breaking Down the Class With 26 signees, 12 early enrollees, 2 Blue Shirts, and even a 4-star Gray Shirt, the story of this class is already legend.  Add in the 3 years invested in its assemblage and the 3-5 years in which most of these Crimson careers will play out and it is easy to agree that this plot line has many chapters yet to tell. But that didn’t stop the intrepid AFP team from putting our spin on the freshly minted class.  We predict our day one contributors, career all-stars, and x-factors. Further, we identify position battles that will burn hot this spring with promises for lasting impacts across the playing rotation in the fall. The Future is Next In January, Alabama fell to Clemson on the biggest stage the sport has to offer. In today’s headlines-trump-facts environment, that portended the collapse of the Alabama dynasty. However, to take that position is ignore facts that Stevie Wonder can see spring from the page. By Saban standards, the Tide fielded a young team while continuing to develop a stockpile of talented youngsters who have not yet broken into the rotation.  Add to the mix a talented and diverse 2017 class and it does not look like Alabama is going anywhere any time soon.

The University of Alabama's favorite elephant has become a staple during game days at Bryant Denny and countless weddings, birthday parties and on-campus events. He takes a photo with almost every new student at orientation, and is beloved by children and adults from all areas of the UA community. Since 1980, Big Al's legacy has left an impression as one of college's most recognized mascots, but that process did not happen overnight. In our first episode we meet up with the original Big Al, Mr. Hugh Dye, former advisor, Ms. Segail Friedman, former Homecoming Chair, Ms. Anne Haedicke Parramore and former UA administrator, Dr. Kathleen Cramer, to uncover how UA earned its mascot, and more importantly how Big Al got his name.

In this episode Tom and Dave from the Alabama Football Podcast breakdown the Tide’s triumph over the Mocs of UTC.   Solo Oh-No Hold on folks, this is a solo ride with Dave, pure and unfiltered. Can you handle it? Triple Threat of Question Alabama rolled out its worst outing since week two and still managed to rack up 31 points. To what and where do we assign fault? Was it play calling, Jalen’s jitters, or an overall malaise settling over Bryant-Denny on a chilly November night? Tune in to see how we break it down. Ardarius Out Saturday did not represent the first game Stewart has missed this season but it may well represent the most impactful absence. Check out the show for our assessment of how the absence of Ardarius impacted the offence and who actually benefited by the revised lineup. Line Work Last week the Tide went 4 deep at Right Guard. This week, for an encore, the Tide went 4 deep at RG while also going 3 deep at Left Tackle. An impressive display of depth to be sure, but a trend that needs to end. Conflicted Defense Was this a good defensive performance or a bad one? Leaving the stadium last Saturday I was convinced of my response but upon review I’m equally as convinced the other way. Kicking Questions Lots of questions came out of the kicking game Saturday and we take aim at unpacking them on the show. Check it out. Mini Game balls Anyone can read a headline, but which players contributed in more subtle ways to the Tide’s fortune? Alabama’s Next Opponent Next up for Alabama is a rumble with West Georgia’s finest, the War Plainspeople from Auburn. Call it a tune up for the SEC Championship if you like. The relative health of key players on both sides of the aisle will go a long way towards determining the outcome of this one.
