In 19th-century Sweden, Caesaria is kept in a doctor's mansion as a trophy: she is the first baby to be born alive from one of his c-sections.  In a Gothic ambience, Caesaria narrates in first person her experiences in the mansion and her encounters with its mysterious inhabitants and visitors. Does she know where she comes from? Where is her mother? Is there a world beyond these walls? We interview Hanna Nordenhök about her Gothic tale, published for the first time in English by Heloise Press on the 24th October 2024. Inspired by a real-life nineteenth-century medical miracle, it explores issues - women's bodies and women's rights - that are vitally contemporary. Our wide-ranging discussion covers some international writers and film-makers whose work listeners might not be familiar with so we thought we would list them here. Authors Ágota Kristóf - 1935 – 2011: Hungarian author The Notebook Trilogy and The Illiterate are available in translation Birgitta Trotzig 1929 – 1935: Swedish author Her work seems currently only available in Swedish or translated into French or Spanish. Her novel Caesaria (2020) scooped Swedish Radio's Literary Prize and was shortlisted for Vi's Literature Prize. Nordenhök also works as a translator from the Spanish and has been praised for her translations of Fernanda Melchor, Andrea Abreu and Alia Trabucco Zerán. Her last novel Wonderland (2023) was listed among the Best Books of the Year in Dagens Nyheter, Svenska Dagbladet, Expressen, Borås Tidning, Hufvudstadsbladet and Magasinet ETC, as well as shortlisted for Vi's Literature Prize. Saskia Vogel is a writer and translator of over two-dozen Swedish-language books. Her novel Permission was published in five languages. She is a recipient the Berlin Senate grant for non- German literature, the Bernard Shaw Prize, two English PEN Translates Awards, and was a PEN America Translation Prize finalist. She was Princeton's Fall 2022 Translator in Residence. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she lives in Berlin. This episode was produced by Martin Nathan. Martin Nathan's short fiction and poetry has appeared in a range of journals and his novel – A Place of Safety is published by Salt Publishing. THE CLEAR ACCUSATION Festus introduced the case of Paul to King Agrippa, who visited Caesaria with his sister Bernice. King Agrippa was the son of Agrippa I, the king who killed the apostle James and tried to kill Peter (Acts 12:1–3) and soon after died of intestinal worms (Acts 12:20–23). Their grandfather was Herod the Great. The Jewish historian Josephus was a friend of theirs. Agrippa and Bernice's relationship was incestuous. Undoubtedly, there was one apparent thing about Festus understanding about the case of Paul. With certainty, the accusers of Paul has no merit to accuse him based on either legal or political issues or implications. It was purely religious in nature. They accused Paul of spreading heresy that Jesus is alive. Thus, Festus, having lost ground how to investigate, he asked Paul's consent to bring back his case to the Sanhedrin. But, Paul had appealed that his case be brought to Caesar. Festus asked Agrippa's help. Why? AS Paul appealed to the emperor, he decided to go ahead and send him. But he had nothing definite to write to the emperor about Paul's case. Therefore he asked Agrippa to examine him so that he would have something to write to the emperor. He found it unreasonable, in sending a prisoner, not to indicate the charges against him. Paul, a lawyer himself by training, did not cloud his case before anyone else. One thing was sure. That was, he preached Christ being crucified, buried and is alive. This was the only message he wanted everyone to know. There was neither equivocation nor sugarcoating. This is the truth he did not shy away and was planning to prove and defend even in Rome. In other words, what he was accused of was what he was convinced with. How about us? If we are accused of being a believer, is it becaused we are convinced of its merits and claims? Are there enough evidences to prove it? The undeniable evidence that we are committed to Jesus is manifested when others would be annoyed by our preaching and promoting Christ. As Peter wrote, “If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name.”[1 Pet 4:14,15] ------------------------- Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram

Acts 23:23-35 ESV 23 Then he called two of the centurions and said, “Get ready two hundred soldiers, with seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen to go as far as Caesarea at the third hour of the night. 24 Also provide mounts for Paul to ride and bring him safely to Felix the governor.” 25 And he wrote a letter to this effect: 26 “Claudius Lysias, to his Excellency the governor Felix, greetings. 27 This man was seized by the Jews and was about to be killed by them when I came upon them with the soldiers and rescued him, having learned that he was a Roman citizen. 28 And desiring to know the charge for which they were accusing him, I brought him down to their council. 29 I found that he was being accused about questions of their law, but charged with nothing deserving death or imprisonment. 30 And when it was disclosed to me that there would be a plot against the man, I sent him to you at once, ordering his accusers also to state before you what they have against him.” 31 So the soldiers, according to their instructions, took Paul and brought him by night to Antipatris. 32 And on the next day they returned to the barracks, letting the horsemen go on with him. 33 When they had come to Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, they presented Paul also before him. 34 On reading the letter, he asked what province he was from. And when he learned that he was from Cilicia, 35 he said, “I will give you a hearing when your accusers arrive.” And he commanded him to be guarded in Herod's praetorium. SAFEGUARDED After hearing the plot, the tribune, Claudius Lysias, immediately dispatched two centurions to transport Paul to Felix, the governor living at Caesaria Maritima. Leaving at the third hour of the night were Two hundred soldiers, with seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen and mounts for Paul to ride. Moreover, the tribune wrote a letter to Felix the governor to explain and convince him to protect and provide Paul a fair trial. Paul and the Roman guards arrived at Caesaria. On reading the letter, Felix asked what province he was from. And when he learned that he was from Cilicia, Governor he said, “I will give you a hearing when your accusers arrive.” And he commanded him to be guarded in Herod's praetorium. [v.34,35] While God allows danger, His presence is assured. As the psalmist has expressed, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” [Psa 46:1] As a result we could have the peace like Paul being safeguarded should we trust in Him. The psalmist concluded; “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.”[Psa 46:10-11] In the Old Testament, the ravens fed Elijah, the lions guarded Daniel inside the den, Achish, the Philistines protected David..theseare examples of how God could use ungodly and unclean instruments to protect His own people. We could not fathom God's wisdom. Definitely, His ways and thoughts are higher than ours. His people are the apple of His eyes. Thus, the plan of the wicked won't prosper for the Lord determines their limits and bounds. Therefore, no matter how overwhelming our situation is, we shouldn't succumb to these as if we don't have hope, should we? As Paul, writing at the prison has exhorted us, “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”[Phil 4:6,7] His peace comes through His safekeeping.

Acts 21:10-16 ESV 10 While we were staying for many days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. 11 And coming to us, he took Paul's belt and bound his own feet and hands and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘This is how the Jews at Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.'” 12 When we heard this, we and the people there urged him not to go up to Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul answered, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” 14 And since he would not be persuaded, we ceased and said, “Let the will of the Lord be done.” 15 After these days we got ready and went up to Jerusalem. 16 And some of the disciples from Caesarea went with us, bringing us to the house of Mnason of Cyprus, an early disciple, with whom we should lodge. LET THE WILL OF THE LORD BE DONE During their stay at Caesaria, a prophet named Agabus arrived from Judea. We first heard Agabus in Syrian Antioch shortly after Paul joined Barnabas and before their first missionary voyage. Agabus had prophesied a great famine would trouble Jerusalem (Acts 11:28). Thus, the church in Antioch took a collection and sent Barnabas and Paul to deliver it. Paul turned this into a tradition so that whenever he plants a church in Asia and Europe, he encourages the members to take a collection for Jerusalem. Here, Agabus prophesied about Paul's future in Jerusalem. He took Paul's belt and bound his own feet and hands and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘This is how the Jews at Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.'” Consequently, everyone urged Paul not to go to Jerusalem. Understandably, they did not want harm to happen to Paul. By this, they must had thought Paul would be amused. But, he was not. With firmness in his reolve, he said, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” Earlier the elders at Ephesus had done this same before he left Miletus. Paul should listen to them if it was not the will of God. At times, we are torn between safety of a beloved and the will of God in our lives and our loved ones. Human as we are, we think of safety as the best option, forgetting that the will of God is the safest place for us. This had grieved Paul's heart, saying, “What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart?” Like Peter who tried to prevent Jesus from suffering, he though he was doing what was right. But, Jesus rebuked him, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”[Mat 16:23] Like Jesus, Paul had made his resolve to obey God. The die is cast. Having been corrected and convinced to Pauls determination, the all said, “Let the will of the Lord be done.” This has settled their apprehension. Like Paul, may, we always seek to fulfil God's will in our lives daily. As Paul has exhorted us, “ I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” [Rom 12:1] Like Paul, may our concept of what is good, acceptable and perfect isn't just what is comfortable and safe. But, anything pleasant or not, that could give God the highest glory.

Acts 11:1-18 ESV Now the apostles and the brothers who were throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God. 2 So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcision party criticized him, saying, 3 “You went to uncircumcised men and ate with them.” 4 But Peter began and explained it to them in order: 5 “I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision, something like a great sheet descending, being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to me. 6 Looking at it closely, I observed animals and beasts of prey and reptiles and birds of the air. 7 And I heard a voice saying to me, ‘Rise, Peter; kill and eat.' 8 But I said, ‘By no means, Lord; for nothing common or unclean has ever entered my mouth.' 9 But the voice answered a second time from heaven, ‘What God has made clean, do not call common.' 10 This happened three times, and all was drawn up again into heaven. 11 And behold, at that very moment three men arrived at the house in which we were, sent to me from Caesarea. 12 And the Spirit told me to go with them, making no distinction. These six brothers also accompanied me, and we entered the man's house. 13 And he told us how he had seen the angel stand in his house and say, ‘Send to Joppa and bring Simon who is called Peter; 14 he will declare to you a message by which you will be saved, you and all your household.' 15 As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell on them just as on us at the beginning. 16 And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.' 17 If then God gave the same gift to them as he gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God's way?” 18 When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.” WHO WAS I THAT I COULD STAND IN GOD'S WAY? The Jewish believers in Jerusalem knew that the Gentiles received the the gospel eventually. These Gentiles refers to Cornelius and many others in Caesaria who believed Jesus and were baptized. Their reaction was from skepticism to being critical to Peter. In particular, the ‘circumcision party' criticised Peter saying, “You went to uncircumcised men and ate with them.” Paul, later, had labeled this ‘circumcision party' as troublemakers to beware. He wrote to warn Titus, “For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party.” [Titus 1:10] And another instance, he wrote about Peter fearing the circumcision party to warn the church in Galatia, “For before certain men came from James, he was eating with the Gentiles; but when they came he drew back and separated himself, fearing the circumcision party.” [Gal 2:12] But Peter began and explained it to them in order. That is, he related to them exactly what happened in details. He concluded, “If then God gave the same gift to them as he gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God's way?”[v.17] When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.” Their prejudice, skepticism and doubt were removed. They accepted the reality that the Gentiles are included in God's plan of redemption. -------------------- Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram

Acts 10:1-8 ESV At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion of what was known as the Italian Cohort, 2 a devout man who feared God with all his household, gave alms generously to the people, and prayed continually to God. 3 About the ninth hour of the day[a] he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God come in and say to him, “Cornelius.” 4 And he stared at him in terror and said, “What is it, Lord?” And he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God. 5 And now send men to Joppa and bring one Simon who is called Peter. 6 He is lodging with one Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea.” 7 When the angel who spoke to him had departed, he called two of his servants and a devout soldier from among those who attended him, 8 and having related everything to them, he sent them to Joppa. CORNELIUS AND HIS VISION Cornelius was a Roman centurion of what was known of Italian Cohort. He was staying in Caesaria. This is Caesarea Maritima, a seaport in Samaria on the coast of the Mediterranean. It is traditionally the capital of the Roman leaders, although Pilate chose to live in Jerusalem. It was built by Herod the Great and named after Caesar Augustus. Even when he was a Roman centurion, Cornelius rejected emperor worship and the Roman pantheon of gods. That such a man chose, instead, to worship the Jewish God (Acts 10:2) is no small thing. Cornelius is not the first centurion to earn the respect of Jews for his giving nature (Acts 10:22). In Capernaum, Jewish elders came to Jesus on behalf of a centurion, asking that Jesus would heal the centurion's servant. They said, "He is worthy to have you do this for him, for he loves our nation, and he is the one who built us our synagogue" (Luke 7:4–5). The centurion showed his faith in Jesus by assuming Jesus could heal at a distance (Luke 7:1–10). Similarly, Cornelius was ‘a devout man who feared God with all his household, gave alms generously to the people, and prayed continually to God.'[v.2]. Aside from being a God fearer and generous, He was praying continually, which roughly means ‘at every opportunity' during the day. He was like the persistent widow of Jesus' parable (Luke 18:1–8), constantly pleading his case at God's court for recognition. He was praying at the ninth hour [around 3 pm] (v.1–3). His reaction of terror to the angel who has just appeared was common. Gideon, David, Zechariah, Mary, the shepherds, and the women who followed Jesus were all afraid when they saw an angel (Judges 6:22; 1 Chron 21:30; Luke 1:12–13, 29–30; 2:9–10; Mat 28:2–5), and Daniel fell to the ground in fear (Dan 8:15–17). He didn't know much about Jesus yet. He called the angel Lord [Kurios] which is a common address to a human in authority, that is, someone who has sovereignty over another. Although the capitalized "Lord" is often reserved for Jesus, the text is clear that this is an angel and not Jesus (v.5). God had honored his request. His alms giving and prayer were recognized ‘as a memorial' for He honored God. As Prov. 13:14 says, “Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him.“ Definitely, it was commendable before God but not for his salvation. “He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior.” -------------------- Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram

And they were all afraid of him, for they did not believe that he was a disciple. 27 But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles and declared to them how on the road he had seen the Lord, who spoke to him, and how at Damascus he had preached boldly in the name of Jesus. 28 So he went in and out among them at Jerusalem, preaching boldly in the name of the Lord. 29 And he spoke and disputed against the Hellenists.[c] But they were seeking to kill him. 30 And when the brothers learned this, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus. 31 So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied. LET US BE LIKE BARNABAS What Paul had demonstrated at Damascus gave us an idea how zealous and excited he was to know Christ and the brethren there. After three years being away, he decided to go back to Jerusalem and he must be excited to meet the disciples there, too. But, they were all afraid of him. Nobody among them believed that he was a disciple. Somebody should help him. Thus, one of the first deacons Barnabas took him and introduced him to the apostles. Barnabas, whose name means son of encouragement, was always true to his name. He persuaded the doubtful disciples at Jerusalem to accept Paul. In what way? He ‘declared to them how on the road he had seen the Lord, who spoke to him, and how at Damascus he had preached boldly in the name of Jesus.' [v.27] While everyone else was focusing on the past of Paul, Barnabas focused on his present. In most cases, like the disciples at Jerusalem, when we are hurt, it's not easy to remove the painful stigma and prejudices we have to a person or group of people, is it? The trust has been shattered and it seems hard for us to regain our respect and trust. This is understandable because the hurts and pains are deep and the healing takes time. Take for example today, many ex-convict and former prostitutes who became believers are finding it very hard come to our churches. They found it hard to integrate for the inhibitions and doubts they perceived among God's people. We are thankful that there are “Barnabas like'' among us, who would take the needed steps to reach out to them where they are. And discreetly, they would introduce them to the body of Christ. When Paul was accepted as one among them, he was encouraged to preach Christ even more boldly. He went in and out among them at Jerusalem, preaching boldly in the name of the Lord. And he spoke and disputed against the Hellenists. [v.28,29] And the Jews, resultingly, intensified their pursuit to kill him. What they did to Stephen earlier, they planned to do unto him now. But, God has plan for him yet. He has to escape to his home town at Tarsus of Cilicia via Caesaria. In summary, the disciples who doubted him at the beginning became convinced that he was real. They saw him as a tree bearing fruits in following Jesus. The challenge is before us today. There are a growing number of emerging sub-culture and communities like LGBTQ+, with strange beliefs and lifestyle. They are difficult to love and understand but should not be written off as impossible. -------------------- Visit and FOLLOW Gospel Light Filipino on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram

There's a hard-to-explain bond with them that I believe is the fellowship which is a fruit of the fullness of Christ in us.Context revisited:Paul's under house arrest—chained to a Praetorian guard 24/7.1,000 miles away, Epaphras, founding pastor of Church of Colossae and disciple of Paul, is burdened for his church due to false teachers infiltrating with heretical teachings. His growing church is under attack from sinister, heretical movement of lies that say Christ could not be creator nor God in the flesh.Between secret passwords and ascetic disciplines rooted in platonic philosophy, the gnostics teachings were robbing the Colossians of their joy. Epaphras has do to something. He travels to Rome to find Paul.Paul's heart aligns with E's immediately. He begins praying and then starts dictating a letter to them. Colossians is the result.Paul's argument for full-hearted faith:He celebrates the miracle of Colossae. (1:3-8)He prays for them. (1:9-14)He presents the heart of his full-hearted argument. (1:15-18)Colossians 1:19-20Colossians 2:9-10Colossians 3:1-4Christ is supreme is 4 ways:He's first in rank and honor. (15) Visually and personally displayed God to humanity. He's supreme as Creator. (17) He is holding all things together. He's the goal of creation. (16b) “for him” or “toward him”Transition: In a world that seems doomed and hopeless to change, we can be part of true and lasting change as we devote ourselves to God and his mission through prayer.“We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. The book of Philemon describes this story. He's a Gentile who would travel back with Tychicus.(John) Mark, (10) another Jew, the cousin of Barnabus is the same Mark that started the first missionary journey with Paul and Barnabus. He greatly disappointed Paul when he bailed on the expedition early-on. For this reason, Paul didn't want him to join them on their second missionary journey. Barnabus disagreed and they eventually split up as a result. Here we see the Paul has warmed back up to Mark 12 years later. Wrote gospel of Mark. (Peter's account)Aristarchus (10) was a fellow prisoner and Jew who'd been with Paul in Ephesus when the riots happened. He also traveled with Paul to Jerusalem to deliver the special offering to the poor there. He would have seen Paul caught up in the mob there and traveled with him after his arrest to Caesaria and later Rome where they were when Paul wrote Colossians. Seen during Ephesians riot (Acts 19:29); singled out; stuck by PaulAll three Jews were a comfort to Paul in his imprisonment surrounded by Gentiles.Jesus who is called Justus (11) (his Roman name) means the Lord saves. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. We dive into how the main motivator for Paul's decisions is the fear of the Lord which brings greater knowledge of reality, understanding, and wisdom. John also connects for us that when we value the things of God, we will hate evil, and show our love for God in our obedience to speak truth and reality to our world.

Josefin Månsson, Fredrik Holstein, Inger Eklind och Sven-Eric Bergman har därmed utsett årets vinnare. Vem blir det? Tone Schunnessons "Dagarna, dagarna, dagarna"? Kjell Westös "Trítonus"? Hanna Nordenhöks "Caesaria"? Stefan Lindbergs "Splendor"?

Eve Harow speaks about some of what she learned in her university course on Agriculture and Vegetation in the Middle Ages in the Land of Israel, taught by Professor Zohar Amar, world renown scientist and researcher. Except for in Jerusalem, Caesaria and Ashkelon, the early Arab conquest was probably not violent but rather a gradual takeover using culture and language. Archaeology of all types, perusal of Christian, Muslim and Jewish pilgrims’ accounts and Talmudic rabbinic discussions are all a part of putting pieces together in the puzzle of hundreds of years in the history of the Land.

The Apostle Paul beforeFelix, Festus, and Agrippa Matthew 10 :16 -20  Luke 21 : 12 - 15 Apostle Paul in Acts, thus far: lowered in a basket (9:25) stoned and dragged out (14:19) beaten and jailed (16:23-24) ‘arrested’ by a mob in the temple, beaten outside the temple (21:31) Marcus Antonius Felix: Acts 24 Procurator of Judaea (normally financial-civil), mixed with roles as 12th Governor & Proconsul. ruled in Caesaria Maritima (75 km NW of Jerusalem). in office from 52 AD to 59 AD. Hated by the Jews. crushed rebellions (violently, e.g. Egyptian ‘Messiah’). casually imprisoned Paul for 2 years. recalled by Emperor Nero but left Paul in prison. Acts 24: 10 - 25 Porcius Festus: Acts 24:27 - 26:32 replaced Felix in Caesaria. 13th Governor of Judaea in office 59 AD to 61 AD aristocrat with military experience (as a Consul). died in office 2 yrs after hearing Paul. Act 25:6-11 King Herod Agrippa II: Acts 26:1-32 the 8th such ‘ruler’, the Herodian Dynasty was Edomite. Reign began when father died Acts 12. great-grandson of Herod the Great. lived from 28 AD to 93 AD. overthrown by the Jews in the rebellion of 66 AD (which ended with the complete destruction of Temple in 70 AD by General Titus). Act 25:18-22 ACT 26:1-6 ACT 26:23-29 Three facts (background knowledge for the mind): 1.  The man before you is a creation of God, loved by God. Gen.1:27 2. Respect for such authorities (such as Roman authorities). - Romans 13:4 They do not “…. bear the sword for nothing….” - Acts 24:16  “And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void to offence toward God, and toward men.” 3.  Potentates are ‘petty’ potentates, ‘here today gone tomorrow’. - (… and pompous & venal & egotistical & ignorant, and … ) - note interest in bribery money (Felix). - Paul often wrote about the powers that be (and we know that these powers can also be influenced by Satan). Romans 13:1-5 Three attitudes (background standing of the heart): 1.  Earthly authorities have power but God's is greater. - have confidence. - Romans 8 (I may end up in jail but epistles can get written in jail, jailers get saved, ....) 2. Commune with God always. Psalms 37. - face the situation as if Jesus is standing beside you. 3.  This is an opportunity. - hard to remember in the moment. - speak well!  Be a testimony (even to the 'undeserving'). - Eph 6:13 “…having done all to withstand – STAND!" Psalm 37 :3-8 Ephesians 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Nehemiah 2 4Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven. 5And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers' sepulchres, that I may build it.
