A HardLore Investigative Special… In this incredibly special deep dive, we sit down with an important name in Misfits history: Tom Bejgrowicz, formerly of Caroline Records. When the band sued Danzig for nearly 20 years of back payment for performance royalties, Caroline Records stepped into the foot the bill… in exchange for owning the entire Misfits discography. Enter then lower level Caroline employee Tom Bejgrowicz, who's intimate knowledge and passion for The Misfits landed him the nearly impossible task of creating the formal releases for the Misfits' intended debut LP “Static Age”, their legendary discography Coffin Boxset, and eventually their even more legendary lost 2nd LP, “12 Hits From Hell”… Which was cancelled right before its official release. We were lucky enough to have Tom personally tell us the incredible story of why the band came together to stop “12 Hits” from officially releasing.. Enjoy. Misfits is a 1986 compilation album by the American punk rock band Misfits. Officially titled Misfits, but also known as Collection, Collection 1, or Collection I, the album features twenty songs by the band. The tracks include some of the group's early singles, as well as songs from their 1982 album Walk Among Us, their 1983 album Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood, and the 1985 compilation album Legacy of Brutality, which was curated exclusively by vocalist Glenn Danzig after the band had dissolved in 1983. Collection I was first released on July 1, 1986 by Plan 9 and Caroline Records, and was followed by Collection II in 1995. Both Collection albums were included in the boxed set The Misfits, which was released in 1996. www.frumess.com FRUMESS is POWERED by www.riotstickers.com/frumess GET 200 DIECUT STICKERS FOR $69  RIGHT HERE - NO PROMO CODE NEED JOIN THE PATREON FOR LESS THAN A $2 CUP OF COFFEE!! https://www.patreon.com/Frumess

Megan Jasper grew up in Worcester, Massachusetts an industrial town, just an hour outside of Boston. Megan remembers it as a tough place to grow up. As a young girl, her family would travel to Boston and she and her sister would hit Newbury Comics when there was only one store. As a teen, she traveled to Boston for punk rock shows. Attending UMass, she was friends with J Mascis, a fellow student. When Dinosaur Jr toured Massachusetts in the early days Megan served as a roadie for the band. During a 1989 tour, they stopped in Seattle and that's when she decided she wanted to make it her home. After landing in Seattle, she made her way to the Sub Pop offices. Megan started as a receptionist there, when the label was a tiny operation, constantly teetering on the brink of financial disaster. She took a job with Caroline Distribution and called all the Tower Records stores in the Pacific Northwest. When Nirvana led the music explosion of the early 90's, the New York Times came calling to do a feature on the music culture of Seattle. Interviewing Jonathan Poneman, he referred the Times to Megan, now working for Caroline Records. The Times was looking for slang expressions Seattle kids used around the city. Megan made up a series of “grunge terms” she didn't think the Times would believe were real. They did, they didn't fact check and they ran it as a “Lexicon of Grunge”.After a time working for ADA Distribution, Megan went back to Sub Pop in a variety of roles (Marketing & Distribution) and worked her way up to the role of CEO where she resides today. Bright, quick, smart, and funny, you'll enjoy our conversation with Sub Pop's Megan Jasper.

Bracket is an American rock band from Forestville, California formed in 1992. They have issued numerous albums, EPs and singles since its inception, including many releases for Caroline Records and Fat Wreck Chords. Their sound could most easily be described as power pop influenced punk rock with a continued focus on vocal harmonies. Bracket emerged during the pop punk resurgence of the early 1990s and released its first two albums 924 Forestville St. (1994) and 4-Wheel Vibe (1995) on Caroline Records. Following a staff shake-up, the label dropped the group and cancelled the release of its third album Like You Know in 1996. Bracket's next two albums Novelty Forever (1997) and When All Else Fails (2000) were put out by Fat Wreck Chords, who had previously issued 7-inch vinyl for the band. They released Live in a Dive (2002) which gathered some of the band's best-known material into one performance. Requiem came out in (2006), released by Takeover Records. They have a 70 minute album consisted of one “song”, the 28th installment of their “Warren's Song” series. The band recorded nearly 100 short fragments of songs, with the intention of piecing them together to create the 70 minute “Warren's Song Pt. 28”. Bracket completed work on their ninth studio album “Too Old to Die Young” in late 2018, which came out on Fat in 2019. In 97 they issued In This Defiance, a recording on which the band attempted to broaden their sound, as it featured guest spots from members of such acclaimed non-hardcore acts as Fear Factory, Sepultura, and the Deftones.  But just when it seemed things were going good for the band, Strife announced their disbandment in early 1998. Sporadic reunion concerts followed (as well as a collection of odds and ends, 1999's Truth Through Defiance, and almost exactly two years later, Strife decided to reform. In 2001, Strife issued their third studio album, Angermeans, which was followed up by their first major tour in nearly four years. Grabaron la canción "It's Not Easy" escrita por Muir. En 1989, Suicidal Tendencies volvió a grabar "It's Not Easy" para su lanzamiento Controlled By Hatred / Feel Like Shit ... DejaVu album. Camera... Revolution!/Still Cyco After All These Years. El grupo entraba de lleno en el Thrash Metal con How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today?

We had the pleasure of interviewing Maggie Lindemann over Zoom video!Coming less than a month after her first release of 2020, pop favorite Maggie Lindemann is back with a new track in “GASLIGHT! (feat. Siiickbrain).” Maggie also announced the January 22, 2021 release of her debut EP Paranoia, which will arrive via Caroline Records and her own label, swixxzaudio.“’GASLIGHT!’ is a song about taking back the power after someone has tried to gaslight and manipulate you. It’s a big F+++ off to that person….HA! This song was written so quickly and was really a freestyle between myself and Caroline (siiickbrain). This song was super cathartic to write and sing,” says Maggie of the track.“GASLIGHT! (feat. Siiickbrain)” is the continuation of Maggie’s growth as an artist – it’s a pop-infused rock track that lets both artists shine. Its release coincides with the unveiling of new limited edition merchandise on shopmaggielindemann.com. Items include face masks, crop t-shirts, hoodies, t-shirts, trucker hats, dad hats and more.Since her 2015 debut, Maggie Lindemann has quietly emerged as one of pop’s most subversive forces. Without a filter, her uncompromising approach drove the breakout single “Pretty Girl” to platinum status and over 1 billion streams. Maggie followed that success with anthems such as “Obsessed” (64.6 million Spotify streams) and “Couple of Kids” (38.3 million Spotify streams). 2019 capped off with “Friends Go” [feat. Travis Barker], which Ones To Watch described as “an electrifying, almost retro pop track.” 2019 also brought a scare in Malaysia with immigration (she wound up in jail, on house arrest and standing trial twice—due to a visa issue). The experience proved life changing as upon her return to the US, Maggie turned her feelings towards more new music. At that point, she held absolutely nothing back in the studio and created her forthcoming EP.Along the way, she also successfully launched her SWIXXZ clothing line and recently introduced her own podcast, swixxzaudio which helped Maggie combat the lonliness of quarantine. At 22 years of age, Maggie has truly uncovered her voice as a songwriter and injected a fierce dose of honesty regarding anxieties, obsessions, and insecurities into her new material. Her most recent track “Knife Under My Pillow” has already amassed over a million streams since its recent release. Idolator said of the song “Maggie Lindemann makes a welcome return to the New Music Friday lineup with a winning pop/rock experiment.”We want to hear from you! ‘Productivity’ is a term that gets tossed around a lot: you should be more productive at work; the nation needs to be more productive in general... But what does it actually mean? There are only so many hours in the day - are there really life hacks that can help us make better use of the limited time we have to boost our output in the workplace AND lead happier lives? One man who knows is Chris Bailey - in a series of experiments upon himself, he spent a year trying out productivity techniques such as goal-setting, meditation and early rising, and measured the actual outcomes to devise a system for managing his life. In this interview with Olly, he reveals his top productivity tips, dismisses the industry of ‘productivity porn’, and speaks up for the positive role of caffeine. Elsewhere, Ollie Peart fills The Zeitgeist with news of the new metrosexual: the spornosexual; predicts the welcome demise of shared plates; and celebrates the trend for non-confrontational reality TV. Meanwhile, in The Foxhole, Alix Fox has bad news for frequenters of notorious London sex-sauna Rio’s, and some tips for a listener whose wife wants to watch porn with him. Ultra Material: In 2012, Ultra Material was born from two couples who had shared stages with their respective husband-wife Brisbane bands, Matt & Sarah Deasy from ‘Do The Robot’ and Nick Skepper & Zuzana Kovar from "Sunshine State." The two duos combined their instruments and started to make their own blend of dreamgaze with swirling key lines, effected guitar delays and soaring vocals backed by breakbeat-esque rhythms. In the last year, they’ve released a self-titled EP cassette and their debut album ‘Double Date’ on Sydney’s Blackwire Records label, which has had tastemakers salivating for more. Recorded live at The Triffid in Brisbane on the 22nd of June, 2016. Recorded & mixed by Branko Cosic. Big White: When you mash together the sounds of The Cure, The Go-Betweens, The Velvet Underground and The Triffids, you get Sydney’s Big White, who weave all of those influences into their own strain of jangle pop. Within the span of two years, they’ve packed their sounds into a suitcase and travelled to the US and Europe, playing to swelling crowds, all while they were still writing songs for their first album, Teenage Dreams, which was eventually released in April 2016 on Caroline Records in Australia and Burger Records in the US. Recorded live at the Oxford Art Factory as part of the Volumes 2015 Festival on the 29th of August, 2015. Recorded & mixed by Harvey O’Sullivan. Mastered by Andrew Edgson. Airing details: Originally via Zed Digital, 7-8pm, Sunday 14th August 2016. Show production and engineering: Branko Cosic.

Many grew up in the Georgetown and Northwest areas of DC, where they developed a sense of social justice by witnessing its injustices first hand - they were rich kids living in a privileged world, a social elite.   Some of the many legendary DC bands:   Minor Threat, Teen Idols, S.O.A., FUGAZI, Bad Brains, Dag Nasty, Swiz, Iron Cross, VOID, The Faith, Youth Brigade, Government Issue, Scream, Marginal Man, Gray matter, EMBRACE, Soul Side, rites Of Spring, Ignition, Worlds Collide, Damnation A.D., Battery, Ashes, Gauge, SEGMENT 3:       Essential DC Hardcore Records from Our collections:            DAG NASTY - Can I Say Original release 1986 Dischord Records Re-Released in 2002 on CD - CD contains bonus material   Dag Nasty was a Washington D.C. melodic hardcore band formed in 1985 by guitarist Brian Baker of Minor Threat. Their style of less aggressive, melodic hardcore was influential to emocore, as well as post-hardcore. Check them out here: http://www.daghouse.com/   BAD BRAINS - Rock For Light             Original Release 1983 on PVC Records             Reissued 1987 Caroline Records             ReMixed and Released 1991 Caroline Records.   Bad Brains is an American hardcore punk band formed in Washington DC in 1977. They are widely regarded as among the pioneers of hardcore punk. Bad Brains developed a fast and intense punk rock sound which came to be labeled "hardcore", and was often played faster and more emphatically than the music of many of  their peers. The unique factor of the band's music was the fact that they played more complex rhythms than other hardcore punk bands, also adapting non-punk style guitar riffs and solos into their songs.           The second full-length album by hardcore punk pioneers  Bad Brains, released in 1983.   A previous album, Bad Brains, was released in 1982 but only on cassette, therefore making Rock for Light Bad Brains' first proper album. https://www.facebook.com/badbrains http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bad_Brains               MINOR THREAT - Out of Step Original Release - 1983 Dischord Records   Out of Step is the sole studio album by American hardcore punk band Minor Threat. It was released on 45 RPM vinyl in April 1983 through Dischord Records. After a temporary break-up in 1982, Minor Threat entered Inner Ear Studios in January 1983 to record Out of Step. Recording duties were handled by Don Zientara. While the lyrics on their early EPs were an outlet for MacKaye's message, the lyrics on Out of Step deal mainly with friendships and problems associated with them. http://www.dischord.com/band/minor-threat http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minor_Threat             Other Links and Info:   Dischord Records - http://www.dischord.com/ NYHC Book - http://www.bazillionpoints.com/shop/nyhc-new-york-hardcore-1980-1990-by-tony-rettman/ Bike Mechanic Tales From The Road And Workshop - http://www.velopress.com/books/bike-mechanic/ Cannondale CAAD10 - http://www.cannondale.com/nam_en/2015/bikes/road/elite-road/caad10 Nigel Tufnel - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigel_Tufnel Our Blog: Deathwish Racing - http://deathwishracing.blogspot.com/ Become a Mountain Bike Radio Member Email Kyle Email Mountain Bike Radio
