Starting life as a skit for the VH1 Fashion awards, Derek Zoolander would become an international sensation, and be vying for his fourth consecutive VH1 Male Model of the Year. It's an impressive feat for a man as ridiculously good-looking as he is.Inspired by the success of Austin Powers, the idea was to make a feature length movie out of Derek's life and successes, but filming during the 2000 Autumn fashion season in New York, and at the real VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards, meant they could only film during commercial breaks.Luckily, Derek's fashion industry and celebrity friends were there to help, with Donatella Versace agreeing to co-star alongside Derek in that moment, and his life story, the movie Zoolander, would eventually be released in September 2001.And nothing bad happened in September 2001... right?I would love to hear your thoughts on Zoolander !Verbal Diorama is now an award-winning podcast! Episode 11 – Up All Night Show Notes Welcome to Episode 11! – 3:25 (10:00 pm) The goal of this episode was to throw age to the wind and unwisely pull an all-nighter enjoying the final days of Dragonflight and recording an episode. The segments of the show are broken up by hours in the all-nighter! Stick around to find out how it goes. July News – 7:43 (11:00 pm) Midsummer Fire Festival – I did lots of levelling and proved that the new bad luck protection system works perfectly fine by getting the Fire Festival Drake armor on my very first attempt. Sorry Jason from the Starting Zone. Thanks Blizz, but remember me again at Brewfest. Pre-patch for The War Within, the tenth expansion, launches this Tuesday (today)! Long maintenance is a guarantee. Be patient. Remember two things. First, the pre-patch event for 11.0 is called the Radiant Echoes and it DOES NOT LAUNCH on Tuesday. Second, Warbands launch when you log in and creating yours will take time on your first login. Preview of pre-patch – Really, the only other news worth mentioning at this moment is the rest of the pre-patch. Wowhead article: https://www.wowhead.com/guide/the-war-within/pre-patch-overview All DF raids and world bosses become awakened Skyriding is available Cross-realm guilds are available Leveling requirements reduced, especially from 60 to 70 End of Dragonflight – 31:32 (12:00 am) End of expac checklist. What's yours? Mine is being pieced together as we chat Thoughts on Renown - felt like a big burden and tell me how it is different from reputations, Derek Zoolander. If I make a Blue Steel joke in the show notes, does it ever get read? WoD and DF similarities based on comments by Denathar on his podcast Azeroth United – 2 expansions when developers were looking ahead to a game-changing next expansion, one more successful than the other Follower dungeons – all benefit, no downside, which means…wait for it…#giveusFollowerRaids TWW Topics – 52:40 (1:00 am) Really just a rant about Pathfinder and support for “Steady Flying” Delve Testing and Preview 1:01:54 (2:00 am) Playing beta characters is tough Hanging with Brann as your support Delves are a bit of a puzzle, a series of quests, objectives, etc. as we have seen in instanced scenarios/activities before, but maybe the best version of its predecessors Has some Torghast like power-ups here and there. Brann suggests pausing to sit by the fire after combat to hear and get you well fed. There are boxes and chests with helpful gear and respawn points. Boss at the end with a treasure room full of rewards Hearing voices and then a Remix update – 1:12:01 (3:00 am) Wait, did we make it? Man, it felt good to buy out the mount vendor! Also, I didn't mind running groups in MoP Remix because there is literally no interactions with others and no challenge to the content, virtually at any level. Raid of the Month: Mogu-Shan Vaults – 1:22:12 (4:00 am) The primary drop is the Astral Cloud Serpent mount, one of my faves and a previous target of mine. Lorewalker Cho and some slow to come to life bosses make this a slow farm, but the mount is great if you didn't get it in MoP Remix. And in Remix, there is an amazing golden version called the Astral Emperor's Serpent. Go get it! Final thoughts on Dragon Flight and the direction of WoW – 1:34:10 (5:00 am – close to dawn of a different day) DF saved WoW as Blizzard pulled itself out of a terrible place; Blizzcon 2023 ended my debate over whether to continue with the game and it resurrected Solo Queue because of the three pillars: Delves, Warbands, and Follower Dungeons. Dragon Flight brought the story of WoW back to Azeroth and the familiar after the Shadowlands. Follower Dungeons might be one of the few features launched in WoW to have no real negative reaction, benefits for solo players, and even benefits for group players. Extend that Follower Dungeon tech to a Raid setting. Coming solo features remind me of Mage Tower in Legion, my single proudest moment (beating the Feral Druid challenge). Idea of adding a small level of challenge to old dungeon/raid farming, but not before Follower Raids! Lastly, Warbands, the big change that arrives with pre-patch. Denathar of Azeroth United said this is the shift from a game that recognizes what the character accomplishes to a game that recognizes what the player accomplishes. 61 characters will be in my Warband soon, all sharing their loot. DF brought WoW back and the future looks great! Outro – 1:48:20 (Sunrise!) Thanks to Blizzard and OGRE for audio, my lovely wife, and you for listening. It took over 12 years to get here, but here we are. Dave, Mikey, and #XLessDrEarl are at the penultimate episode of an episode that feels bigger than 500. A hundred eps bigger, as a matter of fact... This is Episode 599. As the Big Bracket finally takes shape, there are 27 movie roles that will vie for the title of "Most Iconic Movie Role of All Time" -- from Indiana Jones to Sally Albright to Derek Zoolander to James Bond and more... but we don't need 27. We need 36. And to fill the final 9 roles, we've asked a podcasting legend, the one, the only Geek Out Loud's Steve Glosson to join the show and discuss. With over 40 iconic movie roles in play, most will be eliminated outright, as round by round, more and more famous legendary names are dispensed, tossed aside like Mikey tosses aside Star Wars now... Ethan Hunt gets a final shot... Harry Potter hopes to work some magic... Lord of the Rings has several nominees... Keanu Reeves has two up for debate... familiar names, previous losers like Carl Spackler, Freddy Krueger, and Kermit the Frog try once more. And at the end of the episode, only 9 remain. The Final 9.
Christine Wilson resigns from the FTC. Retail sales numbers. Inflation is coming down. Ford battery plant and China. AI gone Woke? Balloon media diversion. Illinois schools and Derek Zoolander.
Bravo “Summer House” sensation, iron ranger, and former D3 hockey player Luke Gulbranson might be the real life Derek Zoolander. The guys discuss maple syrup, the Wild's recent fishing trip, and if fanny packs help you be a better youth hockey coach.

Samuel 7-16! The Bible contains a LOT of genres. Uh-oh, you're now in the middle of a Machiavellian historical novel about Derek Zoolander! Time for our regular installment of Which Part Of This Story Will White Christian Americans Try To Contort Into Propaganda For White Christian America? Does this episode include weird math, exaggerated war stuff, confusing prophet behavior, confusing food rules, weird animal stuff, baffling arguments, the total eradication of tribes clearly not eradicated, and women hanging out by a well? It's a Bible episode, so duh! Know how you've been told you have to believe the Bible is perfect, inerrant, and handed down directly from God? Well, we recently dug some of this section's missing portions out of the ground, and half the translations disagree on how old its protagonist is, so maybe not! Samuel is the ... ... ... ... ... ... good guy in this story? Really? Meet David, simultaneously a humble Cinderella boy and a breathtaking Mary Sue warrior-poet! As always, thank you for listening! Starring Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg, Me Time follows a stay-at-home dad (Hart) who joins an old friend (Wahlberg) on a wild birthday adventure while his family is away. Writer-director John Hamburg discusses his approach to balancing character and laughs in a comedy: "I really do aim to keep the characters grounded and to treat them as human beings. Frankly, even in a movie as absurd as Zoolander, we tried to give an emotional arc to Derek Zoolander and to Hansel, and it's no different with this movie that takes place in the real world." Despite having hugely impressive titles like Zoolander and Along Came Polly under his belt, Hamburg still experiences insecurity as a filmmaker: "...it took me a while to stop [comparing myself to others], and I fall into that trap today, having been in the business for more than two decades... I think the advice I would give a younger, more naïve John Hamburg is, 'Just focus on yourself and listen; watch stuff, and get inspired.'" Me Time can be streamed on Netflix starting August 26. Whether it was your first movie in the theater like Lauren or you are still living that Little Mermaid life with husbandly antics accompanying every car ride like Jen, The Little Mermaid has certainly left its mark on us. Is there anything so breathtaking as Jodi Benson's voice? We'd argue that there very likely is not. And while we adore that fiercely independent mermaid, in this episode we're going to talk about a different creature entirely. A merman*, in fact. That's right! King Triton himself takes center stage as we explore an all-to-familiar challenge in parenting: really seeing our kids. Like...really really seeing them. This isn't about permissiveness. It's about connection. And, speaking of connection, you can snag all of the journal prompts and conversation starters that come with our Magic Family membership for this episode for free here on our Patreon page @ patreon.com/magicalmindsetmoments. Let's dive in, shall we? *Apologies to all. Derek Zoolander will not be featured as part of this episode.
Earth to listener...this week we are building the ridiculously good looking Derek Zoolander for D&D 5E. Character Sheet
We begin today by breaking down the latest effort by the Republican Party to sell out their own voter base by compromising with the Democrats on gun controls, particularly a proposed massive expansion of subjectively applied "Red Flag Laws." They want a federal fund that will inevitably be used to harass law abiding citizens. This is really bad news and we break it all down. Next up for the RINO caucus? Amnesty! Not a joke! There is good news though: Kellogg's has announced they are going to have to break up. I recall Breitbart's efforts to boycott the woke food brand six years ago; since then their stocks have been flat, if not down, and they are finally throwing in the towel. We touch on election night results, January 6th hearing nonsense, China capitalizing on Biden's weakness (i.e. falling off a bike), more pain for woke Disney, and Merrick Garland and Derek Zoolander going to Ukraine. Plus, much more in the opening of the show. Our guest today is fan-favorite and Breitbart News legal contributor Ken Klukowski. Ken recaps a big victory for religious liberty delivered this week by the Supreme Court, he lays out the stakes of the forthcoming "Dobbs" abortion decision, and then he analyzes if the current proposed gun controls will stand up to scrutiny, constitutionally speaking. You won't want to miss his answer. And then we have our call of the day.
Tick tick beep beep! Yes! It's 24 time! And we're into the 4th episode of season 3 as we recap the episode that is 4pm-5pm! Is this episode a bit meh or can we like it because of the awesome ending? Why is Wendy Crewson so awesome once again? Is Palmer a bit of a hypocrite and a bit Derek Zoolander? Why is Kyle still a thing? Do we want more Salazar in Mexico storyline already? What weird music do we like in this episode? Why is the timing off this episode that doesn't make sense with some characters? How quick are doctors in Los Angeles in 2003? Did you know Tony got shot in the neck? Why is Michelle too comfortable as boss of CTU so quickly? Why do we want Leslie Hope on a cougar? And how damn epic is Jack at the end of this episode? Get yourself ready once again for another epic time!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Have you ever thought there may be more to life than being really, really, really, ridiculously good-looking? Has anyone ever underestimated your eugoogoly skills? Do you know who knows your pain? Derek Zoolander. Hop in your jeeps and grab your sunnies, it's time to head to Starbucks for some orange mocha frappucinos as Katie and Brad rewatch Zoolander. Starring Ben Stiller, Own Wilson, and Will Ferrel, Zoolander follows male model, Derek Zoolander, as he finds himself wrapped in a scheme to kill the Prime Minister of Malaysia. Derek teams up with his rival, upcoming male model Hansel to prevent himself from killing the Prime Minister. But why male models? Find out in this week's episode of Well...I Liked It!
Derek Zoolander may be really, really, ridiculously good looking, but will that help when he's brainwashed to kill the Prime Minister of Malaysia? Join us as we chat about a waste of Vince Vaughn, a shockingly dated version of Monopoly, and the real reason why cell phones aren't tiny anymore. Don't feel like you're taking crazy pills—we're just finding out if Zoolander stands the Test of Time.
Every party is poorly named. Afghanistan. This election is a shitshow and Trudeau is more like Derek Zoolander than you can possibly imagine. Remember the fallen.
In this episode we'll hear from Chris Schortgen, a fashion model who's also a philanthropist. I met Chris at a photo shoot and was blown away. He's had all of the success and status of a model and actor but that wasn't enough to just be successful, he seeks after significance as well. Chris has a heart for others and has taken steps to take a stand for those in need. He's truly living the Armed & Generous life. He says the solutions to make a positive impact in the world are already out there. You just have to connect the dots. He certainly connected a few dots for me during our conversation and I think he will for you too. Another male model, Derek Zoolander, might have had his Center for Kids Who Can't Read Good but that's nothing compared to the clean water charity Chris founded called 100 for All. Chris gets real in our conversation and is vulnerable enough to share about his experience on trip to Cambodia that changed his life along with how he leveraged his community and career for charity and practical ways in which he took 100 for All from an idea to a thriving non profit. Let's dive in and see how Chris can help us become Armed & Generous. To get involved with 100 for All visit https://100forall.org/ or follow them on Instagram @100forall
Derek Zoolander, disturbing trophies, and learning about sex on a car ride from Grandma's. Does God care about our physical lives? The Song of Songs reminds us that God cares about our sexuality and wants to redeem, heal, and help us to enjoy it. In the Song of Songs, the effects of sin and disconnection described in Genesis are reversed and restored.
Every organization, church, blog, and even podcast can succumb to mission drift if its identity is not continually being clarified. So today, much like Derek Zoolander did when he saw his reflection in a puddle, we're getting a little introspective on the show and asking the question, "Who am I?" Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and Shaolin Soccer If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball, as the saying goes; but what if your Iron Head technique can bend a wrench? Sports comedies seem to be pretty formulaic - underdogs win; bad guys lose, there's sports involved. But are they similar, internationally? Dodgeball stars Wash, the pilot of Serenity and a Mac computer as they dodge wrenches, balls, and traffic to defeat Derek Zoolander's evil Gym. Shaolin Soccer stars both the leader and an aspiring member of the deadly Ax Gang as they teach the world about Shaolin Kung Fu by playing soccer and defeating the evil Team Evil. When we talk about if 2020 is going to be the year you remodel, let's start with WHY. Because my answer is that if you have good reasons for wanting to tweak your house to better suit your lifestyle ...... you ARE ready. Take a deep breath. You've got this. Stay tuned for more help on the question of how to PRE-plan your remodel in the next few weeks! In today's episode you'll hear ...The story of Joe and Jane First Time Homeowner - how they can make a really big mistake before they even start a remodel - and how you can be so much smarter! [1:30]What we can learn from Derek Zoolander [3:00]Four ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE REASONS to plan a remodel based on common wisdom from the home improvement industry. Here's a hint: if you are renovating your house as an investment in its resale value, you're doing homeownership wrong. [4:30]How to flip that advice on its head and choose to remodel for the right reasons - because the spirit moves you, because you want to make your house a home and take care of it, because you want your house to better suit your lifestyle, and because you want to add to its character. [6:30]The shortest possible answer to the question of whether you are ready to remodel in 2020 ... its probably "yes." Can we really call it progress when it creates so much waste? What if your phone — the one you’re using right now — was your last phone? Take a good look at it and imagine using it for the rest of your life. Could it even last that long? Could you? Probably not. Today I want to think about what that means. What happens to a planet and its people when technological progress is measured in product cycles. And what happens when there's no balance sheet to account for the other side of that — when every new product leaves billions of products and accessories and packaging behind…Show NotesMy first cellphoneMy second cellphoneThis clip ended up on the cutting room floor, but here's Derek Zoolander's tiny phoneYou can learn more about the Agbogbloshie landfill by reading its Wikipedia page, looking at these photographs, or watching this documentary. Washington Post Bachelorette recappers Lisa Bonos and Emily Yahr join Mandy to chat all things on this week's episode of the Bachelorette in Vegas including the 1 on 1 date with Aly Raisman's ex Colton, the group date featuring Wayne Newton, and 2 on 1 with Derek Zoolander. Plus, how Mandy tried to get Lisa on the ABC show 'The Proposal.' Come for the tea, stay for the laughs!
Sami and Jordana have gotten complaints that they don't actually like the show, but they can't help it if it's objectively bad. They talk about Vegas - is it the perfect place to fall in love or the exact opposite? Sami views Becca's approval of Colton as obligatory. After, they move onto the Wayne Newton portion of the episode. Hopefully, one day we can live in a world where contestants don't have to write songs (or Google Wayne Newton). They talk about Jordan and his preoccupation with his skin care, hair care, and the gym. At 22:39, they play some games including "Shoot, fuck, marry" Jordan, Chris and David. And don't miss: Would you rather have sex with Wayne Newton or Chicken?
We welcome our friend Kristy to discuss Becca Kufrin's second episode of the Bachelorette. We discuss whether Connor is a villain or understandable, our favorite unofficial cast member, Chicken Man, how Blake is the ultimate husband material and the Bachelorette's very own Derek Zoolander. This is what would happen if Derek Zoolander started a band. Next time New York City comes up with some trash like this, do everyone a favor and keep it to yourselves. LCD Soundsystem sucks so hard, their own fans got mad at them for getting back together. That's pretty bad, right? Would anyone know or care about this band if dude hadn't founded DFA Records? No, they would not. Mark and Tyler break it down.
On March 8th 2014 Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370 took off from Kuala Lumpur bound for Beijing with 239 souls on board. It never arrived and no one knows for sure where it went. Did it crash into the ocean? Was there a terrorist attack? What could make a 380 ton airplane disappear off of the face of the earth? Where did it go? Who was actually flying? Was there a larger plan at work? Or was it just a series of unfortunate events that ended in the tragic deaths of all on board? To this day the body of the plane has not been located, speculation runs rampant, and no one can conclusively answer – what happened to flight MH 370? The H 51 I-Team investigates (with the help of the Secret Transmission Podcast!) Plus, Conspiracy Bot decides he wants his pilots license. The tie between Derek Zoolander and the Malaysian Prime Minister is explored. And we pay homage to the best aeronautical movie of all time, Airplane! All of that and more on the podcast that would take a lot more flights if we weren’t on the no fly list – Hysteria 51.
...IN this week's episode...it's so simple! Well, the setup is simple enough. A terrorist, a modeling reality show, a disaster in the making, and only two people who can save the day and look great doing it. In this combined test of beauty and secret agent skills, there's no doubt that the legendary Derek Zoolander, three-time winner of the Best Male Model award and innovator of captivating looks like Blue Steel, Ferrari, Le Tigre, and of course, Magnum, has the advantage in terms of being really ridiculously good-looking. But even with the help of his partner, Matilda, can the would-be assassin of the Malaysian prime minister match up with the proven investigative abilities of Miss Congeniality herself, FBI agent and all-around asskicker Gracie Hart? And even with the assistance of renowned pageant coach Victor Melling, can Gracie survive the world of appearance-based reality television long enough to get the job done? Please be advised, this particular installment of Smash Fiction is even more ridiculous than usual. Also, LIZ LOGAN RETURNS!!! (Those two things are only partially related.)
This pod returns with Mike, Jonny and Phil actually in a cheery mood this week. The headline is of course United's terrific win over league leaders Chelsea and Gary Cahill's similarity to Derek Zoolander. We also talk the Europa League Tie with Anderlecht and look ahead to the glamorous trip to Turf Moor to play Lancashire's answer to Brazil's 1982 World Cup Team, Burnley. It's ZOOlander, not Zoolander. That's right dear listener, we are back with a vengeance. Well, maybe not so vengeful, as we take on our very first Patreon Pick which comes from Sam LeCates. Sam has chosen for us to sit down and watch the Ben Stiller-directed, Zoolander. The 2001 comedy classic that is infinitely quotable and makes Will Ferrell mostly tolerable. We thought it would be a nice chance to honor our Patreons as well as riding the Hollywood Hype Train as we get ready for Zoolander 2 or 2ooLander, whichever you prefer. To engage the follies of Derek Zoolander, Alex, Caleb, and Dustin gather around the table to get beneath the surface. Caleb springs at the chance and gets into a marxist reading of the economics being portrayed within the film. He takes a look at the salt-of-the-earth Zoolander and his everyman background and compares that to the capitalistic exploits of Mugatu. Alex uses this as a jumping in point before moving into some of the more troubling aspects of the films, specifically those brought about by peculiar uses of makeup both in diegetic and non-diegetic moments of the film. Dustin then takes us home with a discussion of Slavoj Zizek and fetishistic disavowal. He mentions how the movie tries to make us feel like we're seeing real causes being brought to light but then understanding that nothing's actually being done to be proactive in regards to those issues. Alright dear listener, there you have it, get your Blue Steel ready and hit that play button; it's on. Having a 25% off Physical Merchandise sale! Putting THE STARTER hardcover on sale at 50% off! That’s right, a hardcover copy of THE STARTER for only $14.95! We’ve now got links to the killer Krakens jerseys and the sweet sweet Siglerverse Surlies. And if none of that interests you, at the very least go check out our new store to see the t-shirt gallery, chock full of fun pictures of Scott doing his best Derek Zoolander impression. Oh, he wants to be an international male model, all right, and does so with his usual zeal for everything. I think it’s pretty fun. The Orange and Black Friday sale extends through the weekend and ends Sunday night. Remember: 50% off THE STARTER hardcover and 25% off the rest of our physical inventory! We’ve never had a storewide sale before, so get while the getting is good and enjoy our new store!
